Book Description
Many Christians find themselves struggling with a particular sin or dysfunction. They seek counseling, practice confession, and pursue God-centered lives, yet still these genuine believers feel hopeless in finding freedom. Could they be under the influence of evil spirits? Yes, says author Neal Lozano. In Unbound, he reveals Satan's strategies and the sneaky ''entrance points'' Satan finds to get a toehold in a Christian's life. He helps readers acknowledge the doors they may have opened to evil influence, and shows them how to close those doors and walk in God's freedom and abundance. Lozano's focus on God and his work in the believer's life, not on intimidating aspects of evil spirits, gives this book a balanced and hopeful tone. Because deliverance is part of the ongoing, glorious work of the Holy Spirit, Unbound outlines a plan for tapping into the potent power of the gospel. It also offers guidance on how pastors, counselors, and laity can pray for others who are still bound by evil and help them to gain victory.

Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance (from Evil Spirits).......2006-11-04
Excellent - very commonsensed and to the point. Shows how to take the Hollywood hype and fear out of it and how to be successful in receiving deliverance.
UNBOUND: An Excellent Book!.......2006-02-22
Lozano's UNBOUND is a remarkably well written, bibically-grounded, and uplifting book. With clarity and compassion, Lozano instructs his readers in the five keys to Christian deliverance: repentance and faith, forgiveness, renunciation, taking authority in Jesus' name, and receiving the Father's blessing. Christian deliverance is a ministry that Jesus Himself instituted among his disciples. Deliverance prayer goes hand in hand with Christian healing and freedom. Lozano's book is not messy or frightening, but instead it abounds in practical advice, faith, hope, and blessing. This is a GREAT book -- a must-read for anyone who feels called into the ministry of Christian intercession. If you are struggling with fear, rage, pride, or any other intractable sin in your Christian walk, this book will be a valuable tool for your freedom and blessing.
Amazing.......2005-07-19
This is truly a wonderful and amazing book. It's a book that
is difficult to put down. Very practical and biblical in his
approach to deliverance, Neal Lozano brings to front and center
the need for deliverance in all of us, and the freedom it brings.
The book is so well written, that I experienced a new freedom
myself. The prayers at the end of each chapter are a blessing.
The examples used are extrememly helpful, especially to those
who have been called to this ministry. This book can be a very effective guide to anyone who reads it,and an effective tool for
those who work in this important ministry.
I personally wrote an email to Mr. Lozano thanking him for this
wonderful book, read it and you too will want to thank him.
Blessings,

Book Review of Neal Lozano's UNBOUND.......2003-07-28
This summer, having taken a course on the History of Spirituality, I had occasion to study Walter Hilton's The Scale of Perfection. In perusing it, I was struck by the fact that for a text of its time and the depth of its topic, it was eminently readable. One commentator described it as belonging to the Handbook Tradition of Spirituality. Before taking the course, and while doing my other assigned readings during it, I was reading a thoroughly contemporary work by Neal Lozano entitled "Unbound: A Practical Guide To Deliverance". Having completed my first reading of it - it is a book which bears reading again and again - I decided that this book, though different from The Scale of Perfection in several ways, is also eminently readable and even more practical than Hilton's classic. I would suggest that "Unbound" may well become a classic in its own right, and here is why I think that.
Neal Lozano articulates and renders concrete an extremely important aspect of Christian spirituality, being freed from the restraints and hindrances of evil, specifically, the demonic. Now before you begin imagining scenes from Hollywood horror films, let me assure you that Lozano's book on deliverance is the very opposite of what many in `pop culture' imagine such a book would be. "Unbound" is centered not primarily on evil but on Christ. It is balanced, nuanced, eloquent and written to inspire not fear of the devil but hope in Jesus and the "fullness of life" offered by Him. The author not only brings to bear his lucid grasp of Scripture, theology, psychological factors and the human capacity for self-deception, he writes also out of his impressive experience in ministering to people locally, nationally and internationally. His recognition of the reality of evil is realistic and informed by genuine faith. Throughout this book, Neal Lozano insists over and over on contextualizing the process known as "deliverance". As C.S. Lewis observed perceptively, human beings make two mistakes about demons: overestimating them and pretending they pose no danger. By insisting that freedom from evil spirits is part of the larger context of the ordinary life of Christians: prayer, community life, service, healing, sacraments, Scripture and loving people as God loves them, Lozano avoids both extremes. Moreover, his book is not sensationalistic and the author demonstrates his ability to critique some methods of deliverance that could lend themselves to sensationalism. The focus of "Unbound" is on discerning God's loving plan for one's life and receiving the power to live that providential plan in freedom. This message is essential. It's one our world needs to hear.

A book that reads you.......2003-05-27
You know how sometimes you really get into a book? Well this book really got into me. It was uncanny how while I was reading the book, it seemed as if the book was reading me. If you do read it, do so with caution because it has the mysterious ability to make you uncomfortable while at the same time providing solutions that free your soul.
How can a book do that? Well, that's what happened to me, it could't possibly be the same for you - could it?

Customer Reviews:
Much Needed Ministry.......2006-07-13
Rebecca Greenwood has written a book which not only teaches the Biblical basis for strategic-level spiritual warfare, but gives many first-hand examples of its implementation. The precautions that are necessary before entering into this level of spiritual warfare are thoroughly covered as well. It is not a guide for beginners but seasoned and prepared prayer warriors. There is a void of knowledge in this subject area, so this book fills a real need.
Amazon.com's Best of 2001
American Gods is Neil Gaiman's best and most ambitious novel yet, a scary, strange, and hallucinogenic road-trip story wrapped around a deep examination of the American spirit. Gaiman tackles everything from the onslaught of the information age to the meaning of death, but he doesn't sacrifice the razor-sharp plotting and narrative style he's been delivering since his Sandman days.
Shadow gets out of prison early when his wife is killed in a car crash. At a loss, he takes up with a mysterious character called Wednesday, who is much more than he appears. In fact, Wednesday is an old god, once known as Odin the All-father, who is roaming America rounding up his forgotten fellows in preparation for an epic battle against the upstart deities of the Internet, credit cards, television, and all that is wired. Shadow agrees to help Wednesday, and they whirl through a psycho-spiritual storm that becomes all too real in its manifestations. For instance, Shadow's dead wife Laura keeps showing up, and not just as a ghost--the difficulty of their continuing relationship is by turns grim and darkly funny, just like the rest of the book.
Armed only with some coin tricks and a sense of purpose, Shadow travels through, around, and underneath the visible surface of things, digging up all the powerful myths Americans brought with them in their journeys to this land as well as the ones that were already here. Shadow's road story is the heart of the novel, and it's here that Gaiman offers up the details that make this such a cinematic book--the distinctly American foods and diversions, the bizarre roadside attractions, the decrepit gods reduced to shell games and prostitution. "This is a bad land for Gods," says Shadow.
More than a tourist in America, but not a native, Neil Gaiman offers an outside-in and inside-out perspective on the soul and spirituality of the country--our obsessions with money and power, our jumbled religious heritage and its societal outcomes, and the millennial decisions we face about what's real and what's not. --Therese Littleton
Book Description
Released from prison, Shadow finds his world turned upside down. His wife has been killed; a mysterious stranger offers him a job. But Mr. Wednesday, who knows more about Shadow than is possible, warns that a storm is coming -- a battle for the very soul of America . . . and they are in its direct path.
One of the most talked-about books of the new millennium, American Gods is a kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth and across an American landscape at once eerily familiar and utterly alien. It is, quite simply, a contemporary masterpiece.

On the plane ride home to the funeral, Shadow meets a grizzled man who calls himself Mr. Wednesday. A self-styled grifter and rogue, Wednesday offers Shadow a job. And Shadow, a man with nothing to lose accepts. But working for the enigmatic Wednesday is not without its price, and Shadow soon learns that his role in Wednesday's schemes will be far more dangerous than he ever could have imagined. Entangled in a world of secrets, he embarks on a wild road trip and encounters, among others, the murderous Czernobog, the impish Mr. Nancy, and the beautiful Easter-all of whom seem to know more about Shadow than he himself does. All around them a storm of epic proportions threatens to break. Soon Shadow and Wednesday will be swept up into a conflict as old as humanity itself. For beneath the placid surface of everyday life a war is being fought-and the prize is the very soul of America. As unsettling as it is exhilarating, American Gods is a dark and kaleidoscopic journey deep into myth and across an America at once eerily familiar and utterly alien. Magnificently told, this work of literary magic will haunt the reader far beyond the final page. "
Customer Reviews:
The unusual usual.......2007-10-05
I liked this book. Gaiman has a way of making the unusual seem usual. It bothered me a bit because I know people who believe in gods exactly as Gaiman describes them. And after reading the book I'm guessing a lot of that came from Gaiman. I've spent much of my time rejecting the notion of the supernatural lately and so even though the book is written as fiction, it still bothered me a bit. But I was able to overlook that dissatisfaction enough to enjoy the book.
The book centers on Shadow, a man who's life is changed when he is released from prison early after his wife is killed in an accident. As he's dealing with his grief, a man offers him a job. Shadow doesn't want to do anything more than put his wife to rest, but instead he's caught up in a story and a world that he never imagined existed.
Parts of the book are just fantastic. The description and the characters in Lakeside, a town Shadow hides out in later in the book, made this book for me. I could see Lakeside in my mind and it was a place that I wanted to visit. It was that perfect small-town where things really aren't perfect, but it's still beautiful and moving, even in the midst of tragedy. If I could imagine a perfect place to live (minus the murders), it would be there.
I also loved the bit with Anubis, Bast, and (I'm drawing a blank on the other god, Osiris?) in Memphis, Michigan (I think?) running the funeral parlor.
Overall the story was great. It took me a little bit longer to get into, but under normal circumstances I don't think it would have been as difficult. And once it captured me towards the last 100-150 pages I couldn't put it down.
Terrible waste of time.......2007-09-30
I was suckered in by virtue of reading all Nebula and Hugo winning and nominated books each year. But folks, the committees were "out to lunch" on this one. The premise was great, the execution terrible. The plot was lost in blathering vignettes of minute, if any, consequence. At 3/4 through the book, after page flipping through the second hundred pages looking for plot, after exclaiming to my wife: Where's the beef? a number of times, I just gave up. I tore the book into pieces and threw it forcefully into the trash can so nobody could repeat my exact mistake. I do this once every 3 or 5 years. That's how disappointed I was.
So,so........2007-09-24
Well, although I know this book has been very popular, it was not very interesting to me, and I stopped reading in the middle. The places, and the characters in the book are in my opnion not very Neil-geiman, and less creative compared to his other publications.
A road trip story with the gods .......2007-09-23
_American Gods_ is a road trip story of sorts, though one that visits places that are "behind the scenes" in this great country. It is also an epic quest, a story of destiny, prophecy, and a story of conflict between old and new. Also, much in the book is not as it appears.
The protagonist is a person by the name of Shadow, released from prison a few days before the completion of his sentence due to the death of his wife in a car accident. His best friend was unfortunately (for several reasons) was with his wife Laura, and as his friend had a job lined up for Shadow when he got out, our hero is at loose ends.
Or is he? On the plane ride home he encounters a strange older gentleman by the name of Wednesday. Knowing far more about Shadow than anyone could really know, he offers Shadow employment. Shadow tries to ditch him, getting off the plane at a layover and going across country in a rental car. Wednesday however finds him in an out of the way diner.
It seems Shadow cannot escape this Wednesday and his offer to be an assistant, so he accepts. Is also seems that Wednesday is a god. Odin to be specific, head of the Norse pantheon; though Shadow at first of course disbelieves this, it soon becomes clear that Shadow - and all of humanity - was unaware of what occurred behind the scenes in the mortal world.
Wednesday is not the only divinity living and working as a human (or sometimes animal) in the United States. Not only is the country a nation of immigrant mortals and the cultures they came from, but it is also a nation of immigrant gods and goddesses (and other beings) from every land and culture, including some very old cultures.
Wednesday gravely informs Shadow that a war is coming between the deities, one with the older, fading powers on one side - such as the Norse and Russian deities among many others - and the new, rising, American-grown powers on the other side. The beliefs, passions, and interests of people in the United States have unknowingly given rise to a new crop of arrogant, powerful, and rising gods of the internet, news media, automobiles, and credit cards, feeding off the power and unknowing sacrifices of millions of Americans. Apparently not content to become more powerful than the old gods, Wednesday says these new, American gods intend to hunt down and destroy the old deities.
What follows is a cross country trip by Wednesday and Shadow, trying to bring into the fold the scattered older gods, attempting to put up some united front against the much more powerful and better connected new gods. The two meet many interesting and vividly described characters along the way.
There are many good things about this novel. Even some of the most apparently minor secondary characters are well-drawn and vivid. Much of the quest took the two to small towns throughout the country (with Shadow hiding in one for an extended period of time) and Gaiman did a very good job of giving the feel of small town life to the reader. The book took place in winter and without overwhelming the reader Gaiman never let him or her forget the season either. The gloomy, snowy, wintry conditions really suited the storyline.
I liked the many gods, goddesses, and mythological monsters encountered by Shadow in his travels, some hiding in plain sight as normal humans and animals, others visible only by those who can see things behind the scenes. There were several vignettes, some quite good, early in the book describing how various deities and mythical beings made it over to this country, how the faerie of the British Isles or the gods of Africa for instance made it to these shores and thus remain in this country to this day, carried over by the actions of immigrants, residing in their hearts and minds. The variety of beings described is quite diverse and included some surprising inclusions.
The book had a great twist ending and much of the book was not as it appeared, that I also liked.
Laura, for reasons apparent to the reader later in the book, becomes a surprisingly important character, she was interesting.
As for the bad, well, there were several very graphic sex scenes early on in the novel, including one that was quite bizarre, even horrific (not gory, but definitely of a supernatural nature). Wednesday disappears for large segments of the book, leaving Shadow to his own devices. Though what Shadow does during his employer's absences is quite interesting and ultimately largely relevant to the greater plot, it does give the reader a feeling that much is being missed at times as to the nature of events in the book.
All in all a very good modern fantasy story.
It's Just that Nothing Happens.......2007-09-19
After hearing so much about this book, I thought it would be only fair to read it a few years after it has been out. But as another reviewer already wrote, this book is "numbingly SEDENTARY". It's painful to read as there are sentences that don't belong. There are too many "gods" who disappear and really have no significance. Basically, it's about a bunch of people (who are gods), that sit around, drink coffee, smoke, and bull. Really.
I can't believe I paid for this crap.
I'm giving it 2 stars because the Gods idea is cool.

The Enemy doesn't want you to read this book!
Customer Reviews:
Bold and honest; Truth in it's purest form.......2007-09-13
I adore all of Mary Baxter's books. All of them are so deeply saturated with raw honesty and truth, that her words seep into every crevice of the heart. I believe with my entire essence that Jesus Christ came to her; nobody could make this stuff up. After reading each one of her books, I am left pondering how very different her outlook must be toward this world and the next, in comparison to everyday people like you and I. After all, She has seen for a fact the reality of Hell; not only has she seen it, but she actually experienced it's horrors from the perspective of a lost soul. On the flip side, she has not only seen Heaven either, but also experienced it's marvelous and indescribable attributes from the perspective of an actual citizen! These books will forcefully open your spiritual eyes, and demand that your mind to look past the physical realm, and focus on that which we cannot see. The trickle effect will be that of spiritual sobriety and an ever growing relationship with our Savior, Jesus Christ. For He knew He had to let her experience the harsh boldness of all her visions, in order that she and all her readers would have a unstoppable, and unquenchable urge to spread His Holy Word.

She Puts God Down Herself........2007-03-20
Mary Baxter wrote a very goof fictional book. I do not believe she has seen any of these realms. She talks about how god and jesus are so great, and then tells you how they won't forgive you because judgment has already been set. God is much more understanding in my book and forgives anyway. She makes him seem cruel just like satan in this book! Her views are Bull!
lover of books.......2006-09-19
An outstanding book. Mary Baxter has a reputation for hearing
from God.
Much revelation is given on Satan and his demonic forces that
is new. An important book that's well written.
A must read.
A book that should be read.......2006-02-07
This is one book that should be read. Mary has been given the most awesome gift of seeing things that we can only begin to imagine or things that we will only see when we are gone from this world. I have also read the heaven and hell books and they are amazing also. I have always wondered what is beyond this world and Mary's accounts of the spirit realm through Jesus is wonderful. I hope that she will write more books. I love to read anything about Jesus and what is beyond this world.
Informative, but not real deep.......2005-11-02
For the most part I did not view this book as a 'manual for Spiritual Warfare", but more of a personal testimony and reiteration of John's Book of Revelation...nothing new, but a 'retelling' of what it was that John himself saw in his vision. Baxter's rendition is easier to read, however, than the original, Biblical text, especially for new Christians.
I could have easily not finished the book and not felt I would be missing out on some new understanding. However, it does have value for the new believer and for open-minded 'older' believers just learning about the spiritual realm, as it most certainly describes this realm which so few are even aware of existing.
Book Description
Many modern Christians are now agreeing that we should take Jesus' command to cast out demons more seriously than we have in recent years. But how do we do it? Where do we start? This practical, down-to-earth book shows us how. From Doris Wagner, one of the leading authorities on biblical deliverance in North America, this manual teaches Christians how to take authority over demonic spirits; how to bring inner healing and break soul ties; how to break the bondage of rejection, addiction, lust and more; and how to set free those whom the enemy has held captive.
Customer Reviews:
Doris Wagner is very detailed.......2007-09-24
No book that I've read has been as detailed in deliverance ministry than this book. She is about making a thorough deliverance so that the person does not lapse back into their old lifestyle and unwittingly invite the demons back in again. I highly recommend this book.
How to cast out demons.......2007-08-23
It's written in a manner that is understandable, without a lot of words
that only veterans would understand.
Good practical teaching.......2005-12-23
This book is a great overview on deliverance and how to minister it. Has specific prayers in the back to renounce your ancestor's involvement with freemasonry.
I recommend this to everyone!.......2005-11-28
This book should be considered a Classic for those interested in deliverance ministry. It teaches much and includes prayers at the back for freeing oneself from generational curses due to FreeMasonry connections. One gains a good understanding of our authority in Christ Jesus and the tactics and subtleties of Satan.
The owner of the first review (Bertoni) would be wise to READ the book. Satan won that battle by scaring him into NOT reading it. By his laughing at the book, the demon caused him to believe that it was of no value. It decieved him!
If you don't know who you are in Christ, you have NO authority....and demons know who does and who does not have that authority.
Great warfare tool........2003-01-31
This is a great book to begin working with people in the area of deliverance. It doesn't get too indepth while not sacrificing the basics you need. Also contains sample questionaires, etc.
Book Description
Ready for Battle
Many of us are familiar with the term “spiritual warfare” but have trouble knowing where to find scriptural guidance on this topic. The Bible is clear that all of us are engaged in battle. The Bible also teaches that perspective is the key to focusing on eternal issues without letting go of the realities of living on earth.
This study guide offers a balanced perspective on the scope of spiritual warfare, what battle attitudes we should have, and how we can face spiritual conflict without losing sight of God’s power and sovereignty. Scott Moreau examines biblical passages closely to give foundational truths necessary for keeping our spiritual balance in turbulent times.
Book Description
Inner healing and deliverance are key issues for those who seek wholeness, but usually these are treated as separate ministries. Chester and Betsy Kylstra break through this tradition and apply a unique, integrated approach to healing mind and spirit. With detailed, documented biblical footing, the Kylstras address four problem areas: Sins of the past, Destructive beliefs, Emotional and spiritual pain, Demonic oppression. Readers will learn how to work with the Holy Spirit to close these doors of the enemy and walk in God's restorative grace. Contains worksheets and detailed lists of ministry steps.

I find the steps and accompanying Scriptures in this book to provide solid steps towards the growth I desire. I recommend it to serious pilgrims.
for the Real believer.......2007-01-03
In spite of the nay-sayers, the book is well written for the true believer who is not looking for ways or loop holes to continue living wrong.
Excellent resource for those desiring inner healing!.......2006-03-28
This book is an excellent resource for people desiring inner healing. It very clearly explains four different ministry areas that Restoring the Foundations addresses. Then, it explains the ministry process for getting free in these different areas. The ministry areas include: Ancestral issues; Renewing the mind; Healing life's hurts; and demonic oppression. By receiving freedom in all four of these areas, the ministry receiver gains much healing and restoration. I highly recommend this book!

This book is indeed an in depth guide to understanding the battle a beleiver faces. It will help you understand the tactics the enemy uses to bombard christians and how to war against them. Realistic and effective........2007-01-10
Thomas White really keeps the focus on effectively discerning evil in your life.
Amazing!.......2005-08-31
This book by Thomas B. White is so superbly written that any lay person can read it, understand it, and apply it to their life. I am so thankful for the information contained in this book, about how the battles we face every day are caused by outside spiritual forces for Christians and unbelievers everywhere. Yet Thomas White does not go overboard in describing the hardships we face, by attributing EVERY attack to demonic forces. He carefully outlines when it could be from other sources and encourages the reader to find someone versed in dealing with Spiritual Warfare and get help in dealing with the "heavy duty" stuff, i.e. spiritual oppression that could have been brought on by curiosity in occult activity. This opens the door into the believer's life (or unbelievers, too)and invites trouble.
It's not about demons, It's about everyday life........2002-09-20
This is a practical guide to prayer and spoken resistance. Mr. White is not quick to call everything demon influenced. He understands what illnesses can produce. He also has a good grip on what demons can do. He is very balanced.
Believers who find themselves in the midst of troubling circumstances definitely need the kind of guidance found in this book. Buy it for yourself. Read it. Then determine its usefulness for others.
Excellent and informative.......2001-11-13
This is a book that is easy to understand and very helpful in spiritual warfare. Mr. White addresses aspects of spiritual warfare that are very enlightening and are not addressed in many other spiritual warfare books I have read. Anyone who looks at this book as " just theory" has absolutely no understanding or conception of what spiritual warfare is all about. Spiritual warfare is very demanding and this book is a great tool
