Would you rather give blood or read Hamlet? Fight Mike Tyson or talk like him? For fans of juvenile humor, Would You Rather...? is the ne plus ultra of ridiculous dilemmas. Created by toy developer David Gomberg and "functional performance artist" Justin Heimberg, this collection of more than 200 preposterous predicaments covers everything from sex and supernatural powers to utopian worlds and nasty curses. Whether read alone or with a group of friends, Would You Rather...? will have you laughing out loud as you debate the eternal questions of life, like: "Would you rather live in a world where Afros were mandatory for members of Congress or where it was legal, in fact encouraged, to crucify mimes?" --Rebekah Warren
Customer Reviews:
I bought a book like this a few years ago with a pink cover.......2007-05-04
and lost it so I got this one in it's place. The questions are really stupid and you don't care to even answer them. The one I had with the pink covers questions were very thought provoking and morally charged, and you did learn a lot about people by going through the book. This is just random dumbness. I threw away money on this.
Excellent example of the words "salacious" and "vulgar".......2007-03-27
If you happen across a copy of this book, don't let your child look at it. It is entertaining only if you are pleased with language of the "gutter".
You'd rather not buy this.......2006-03-07
This really is not funny or thought-provoking. Dumb examples from pop culture -- way too many. People didn't like it when used recently at a birthday party, and we abandoned it all together in favor of a much funnier, crowd-engaging version of this game: the Zobmondo Book of Outrageous Choices.
When the point isn't to be deep........2005-09-19
I truly enjoyed this book because it allowed me to lighten up about "choices" or "dilemmas" or whatever you want to call them. I understand and appreciate the need for self-evaluation, analysis, curiousity, sharing, and developing. I do, however, sometimes need to not go there.
Many people complain this book didn't have the depth they would have liked. There is no depth, but the point isn't to be deep. I feel like the word "absurd" (used in the description on the COVER) points that out pretty clearly. For what it aims to do, the book does well. This book is a great reminder that *sometimes* all that evaluation/analysis stuff just is too much -- missing the point and ruining the fun of life.
Waste of Time and Money.......2005-06-09
Not at all funny. I was kind of expecting moral dilemma type questions with a humorous twist, but got Fear Factor type gross-out phrases instead, or just plain absurd phrases with no thought behind them.
I will quote examples from another review, because they sum up the absurdity of 100% of the questions:
"Would you rather eat a pound of raw bacon or take a bath in bile? Would you rather be hole-punched to death or eaten alive? Would you rather have porkchops for earlobes or Magic 8-balls for elbows?"
Let's get real, how long can you "laugh out loud" (as some reviews claim) at any one of these examples? How thought-provoking are they, really?
I chose not to pick up the Doug Fields book "Would You Rather...?" because it's reviews claim it is great for church youth groups, and I am not a religious person. But I think it may be more my style, as I'd prefer to read moral dilemmas than stupid gross-out garbage.
I have come to the conclusion that many of these "Reviewers" must actually be the authors themselves, friends and/or co-workers of the authors, or bookstores trying to get rid of crap no one would actually buy by misleading people with false rave reviews.
Book Description
Every ten years or so, a simple idea comes along that revolutionizes the business world. Stop Setting Goals is one of those ideas!
Bobb Biehl, president of the consulting firm Masterplanning Group International, believes that decades of emphasis on setting goals has left many in the workplace feeling like second-class citizens. Most people find goal setting to be a major source of anxiety and frustration.
Here he sets out to expose the myth that goal setting is required for success in your business, career, and personal development. Instead, he argues, we can be very successful by simply identifying and solving strategic problems. You may never have to set another goal as long as you live.
Whether you work with a Fortune 500 company, a mom-and-pop start-up business, a sales firm, or a typical office, you will find yourself and your team experiencing:
* Maximized natural energy
* Reduced frustration, pressure, and tension
* Increased productivity
* Better team spirit, morale, and respect
* Improved communication
* Greater self-confidence
The simple ideas in this book will help you and your team, no matter what you do or where you go, for the rest of your life.

The most valuable management and patient care tool I have.......2005-05-11
As a registered nurse of 20 years' experience, I have endlessly heard about setting goals with patients and setting my own goals. I cringed every time I heard this, because setting goals is NOT my style. Then this lovely book came along and changed the way I approached patient care planning with the patient and the way I approached planning in my own life.
We were always taught to work with patients to set goals for their care. And, for years, I had seen a blank curtain come down over eyes and faces when I started talking about goals. Once I understood the principles in this book, I started changing my approach and even just my words, so that my predominantly problem-solver patients were not intimidated or put off. What an improvement.
This book has not received the ongoing attention it merits, but I recommend to you that you read it and put it into practice. Its testimony is in significantly more effective nursing care planning with my patients. If my wide variety of patients generally respond better with the application of Bobb Biehl's principles, it will no doubt work in any other setting where you interact in planning with people. Do not knock this book until you have tried Biehl's principles in actual practice.
Is that all there is?.......2005-01-15
Had great expectations for this book, most of which went unfulfilled. A friend recommended it based on the initial concept of the difference between goal setters and problem solvers. Unfortunately, that initial concept is pretty much the entire book. It just gets repeated with a lot of exclamation points. I'm not surprised that this wasn't reprinted or that it didn't have a paperback edition. There simply isn't enough substance to warrant either. I wish that there was; I was truly looking for helpful ways to further understand and benefit from the difference between the two approaches. Unfortunately, the goal of this book turns out to be a problem unsolved.
This needs to be reprinted........2000-09-23
Another one of those "just two kinds of people" concepts. They are the goal setters and the problem solvers. Read it. Really liked it. Gave it away thinking I'd replace it. Unavailable. Thought it would be a big seller and available in paperback. Still looking to replace it and maybe give as gifts to others.
I'm one of those problem solvers who is often frustrated by goal setters who have not "counted the cost". It's comforting to know that there may be nothing wrong with you if you don't like tossing your hat over the fence before knowing how you're going to get yourself over the fence.
Biehl brings insight and information on how and why problem solvers and goal setters are both needed and on how they need to work together.

Book Description
This book is about one man's life as a football coach and much more. Forty-seven years of joyous celebrations after victories and crushing disappointments after defeats are encompassed in it, but it is about more than just touchdowns and interceptions. It is about how a person like Marv Levy, dedicated to his life's work, can begin his career as the obscure assistant coach of a high school junior varsity team and then one day, decades later, lead his men out onto the field in football's greatest spectacle--the Super Bowl. Readers are invited to come experience what it was like to be on the sidelines and be the winning coach in a game that has been designated as the greatest upset in collegiate football history and then be there again 25 years later when an injury-riddled team, losing 35-3 in the second half, rallies and then miraculously goes on to achieve the greatest comeback victory in the history of the National Football League. Fans will learn what it was like to wallow in the exhilaration that comes from leading a team to four consecutive Super Bowl appearances, only to follow it with the desolation that strikes when all four of those games end in defeat. But they will also learn about the character, persistence, and personalities of those incomparable Buffalo Bills of the 1990s who so resolutely pursued their impossible dream. There will be some laughs and there may be some tears. Readers will meet the people who shaped this coach's life, and they will wind up feeling close to them. They will look forward to each adventure contained in these pages, and when each new one does come, they are likely to say, along with the author, "Where else would I rather be than right here--rightnow!"

My favorite non-fiction book ,ever!.......2007-07-16
Excellent! Insightful! Everything I ever wanted to know about, this era in football. If you love football, this book is for you.
Marvelous, Marv!.......2007-01-05
If one were to look outside of one's immediate family for a role model, Marv Levy would be a wise choice. Marv Levy is not all about football, although he has spent most of his adult life in one capacity or another in the game. His body of work is as a human being, caring for his players and family. In this era when books usually have some axe to grind against those who "done someone wrong," Levy seldom has a bad word about anyone, and any are usually absolved before the end of the paragraph. His book details his life, the good times and bad, the celebrations and defeats, and the fights and absolutions. He is a unique man who has written and interesting and worthwhile book about his experiences, written in a positive light about incidents that helped him grow as a man and a leader. For those looking for a good football book, an inspirational book or inpiration of life, read Marv's book. It's well worth it.
One of the very best Football books written by articulate ex-Athlete who was a good Coach in the CFL, USFL & NFL.......2006-06-29
[Four of Four stars] Marv Levy of Chicago
and Iowa is sort of the Red Auerbach of
Pro Football. A journeyman, who maintained
his class and sense of humour which is not
just soundbytes in NFL films clips.
Mr Burns does us an injustice below in his
review by criticising the very fine Montreal
Alouettes of the CFL, but CFL fans will love
the chapters on our favorite League, particu-
larly, "My Grey Cup Runneth Over". The only
knock that one can have on Levy, and it's a
slight one, is that he hung too long onto
Kelly at QB (Frank Reich should have started
one of those Super Bowls) and Thurman (fumbles)
Thomas, who was simply an overrated player.
One spot in Marv's fine book, he maintains one
of the hardest things he ever had to do was
keep lightning quick Steve Tasker (one-time
Kansas Jayhawk) on the bench! Tasker, like Levy
is a class act who deserves to be in the NFL
Hall-of-Fame and could have been one of the
greatest RBs or WRs of alltime. Marv, as bad
as the NFL is getting even having you back in
the League at 81, again with the Bills (this
time at G.M.) is a breath of fresh air. Thanks
for all the memories. Your dad and my granddad
chewed a lot of the same turf in World War I.
Hey Uncle Marv, Tell Us More Stories About "The Kohawks".......2005-05-29
Recent history has been kind to Marv Levy as the magnificence of having won four consecutive AFC Conference championships is now replacing the earlier bitter pill of lost Superbowls. Marv Levy has become the ceremonial uncle of professional football today. He is to pro football what George Foreman is to pro boxing, the friendly enduring face of a brutal sport.
This is a campfire book, a grown-up bedtime story about a bright young lad from Chicago, one of those lucky folks who got paid to do what he liked. It is a tale remarkably devoid of rancor or regrets but rather a mixture of self-deprecating humor, a bit of self-serving forgetfulness, colorful characters, and the pleasures of the jocular world of organized football. In his preface Levy advises us that his writing style is the re-creation of the pleasures of his memory. Take away the Kansas City Chiefs and he would have had the perfect life.
But before arriving at Kansas City, there were the minor matters of World War II, college, and building a resume. Levy entered the Army Air Corps with the help of a friend who, shall we say, understated Levy's vision impairment. When this problem was later detected, Levy was scratched from pilot training and spent much of the war in Florida as a weather observer. After the war, already in possession of a bachelor's degree from Coe College, Levy began his much heralded graduate work at Harvard. In truth he opted out of the law school in three weeks, choosing instead to earn a masters in history and collecting inspiring anecdotes for use in the Buffalo Bills' locker room years later.
Levy had abandoned law school because of his desire to coach football. After a stint as assistant coach back at Coe for the mighty "Kohawks," Levy over the next fifteen years crafted a highly respectable resume of work as head coach of generally mid-range college football teams, primarily New Mexico, California, and William & Mary. It was a stunning upset of the nation's number one team, Navy, by an undermanned William and Mary crew in 1967 that brought Levy to the attention of NFL, and eventually to the staff of George Allen in Washington as special teams coach.
Levy could not help but be influenced by his Redskins boss. Allen referred to his defensive linemen as "rushers," benched the popular pass-happy Sonny Jurgensen for the workmanlike Billy Kilmer, and played for the least mistakes. A running offense, a veteran opportunistic defense, and juiced up special teams play were his trademarks. Allen seems to have taken to Levy because of the latter's own imaginative thinking about the critical nature of special teams' play, which comprises about 30% of an average NFL game. Moreover, Levy could not have missed how Allen cultivated an image and played the psychological card adroitly.
Levy, a man not without ambition, was anxious to run his own ship, and in 1973 became the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes. Once the flagship of the Canadian Football League, the Alouettes were an artistic, aesthetic, and organizational shipwreck, bedeviled by an atrocious stadium, poor attendance, and impossible weather. Levy guided Montreal to the Grey Cup final in his first year and a league championship the following season. His five successful campaigns in Canada brought an invitation to come back south of the border and take the reins of the young Kansas City Chiefs.
In many ways the Chiefs Levy inherited in 1978 were very much like the present day Chiefs-a potent offense with a porous defense. He also inherited an overbearing club president, Jack Steadman, who did not understand Levy's priority of drafting for defense [Art Still, Mike Bell, Gary Spani, among others], nor his coach's penchant for a tough ground game a la his contemporary "Ground Chuck" Knox. Perhaps reflecting the thinking of his old mentor George Allen, Levy believed that an adequate quarterback could direct the Chiefs, as Billy Kilmer had in Washington. At Kansas City Levy inherited the aging QB Mike Livingston and drafted Clemson's Steve Fuller. Steadman--and Lamar Hunt himself-- created what was probably an unnecessary controversy in their criticisms of the quarterbacking position, a situation aggravated by the arrival of yet another QB, the gunslinger Bill Kenney.
The Chiefs improved, and the defense became stellar, but neither Hunt, Steadman, nor many of the fans were satisfied with a .500 team. Released from the Chiefs in 1982, Levy would always remember how a meddlesome front office and instability at the quarterback position could undermine an otherwise flawless rebuilding program. Thus, when Levy accepted the Buffalo Bills' call in midseason 1986, it is no coincidence that he had already over the years cultivated friendships with owner Ralph Wilson and his executive staff of Bill Polian and John Butler, and that the quarterback situation was quite stable under the maturing Jim Kelly. Clearly a unity of respect and purpose among all levels of Buffalo management marked Levy's years with the Bills and allowed the team to focus entirely on drafting, development, and execution.
Levy assumes that most readers know of the exploits of the Bills in their glory years, and as a rule he paints with a broad red, white, and blue brush. As a history major himself, he has forgotten or omitted some situations that still intrigue knowledgeable observers: his protest of Cincinnati's no huddle offense to the NFL Commissioner prior to the 1988 AFC Championship [a style of play which, ironically, would become the hallmark of the Bills, the K-Gun] or Thurman Thomas's missing helmet episode at the opening of the 1992 Superbowl. But there is self-revelation as well. Levy was over 60 when hired by the Bills; he admits that he had begun to doubt whether he would ever coach again. How could he know then that his best days were yet to come?
The highest regarded greatest Bills coach to write so well*.......2005-04-21
Extremely hokey and a tad bit hurried through the end, but a pretty good book covering his life of football. *Mr. Levy really needs to lay off the use of superlatives as almost every player or team he has coached was the greatest at one particular thing or another. Also, I don't think Mr. Levy intended that the descriptions he has written regarding his locker room motivational speeches were to betray the fact that the players most likely considered the gravely serious war metaphors that he was constantly drawing on as a little too serious to be applied to a football game. No wonder why they consistently fell silent as he left them to contemplate his words. I can hear in my mind a player asking another "Like, we're playing a game here, right?" as Marv proudly leaves the locker room. Marv comes off as a classy guy hoping to coach again. I hope he gets his wish.

Love & Sex.......2007-07-23
I bought this book about 8 years ago and it had some very thought provoking questions in it. I lost it so I ordered another one. They changed all the of the questions to nonsensical blather that a 10 year old would find funny. It's very juvenile and I would be embarassed to ask an adult anything in there. I wish I could get the original printing back. But when I contacted the company though their website I got no answer. This book isn't worth the money. I threw it in the garbage.
funny.......2006-12-29
I bought this book for my friend's 18th birthday and we had a lot of fun with it. It gets sort of boring after a while, just because some of the questions used names of celebrities we weren't familiar with. I think this book is directed more towards adults so keep that in mind.
Some of the questions were also just plain weird lol, but I guess that's the point of the book.

These provocative either-or questions will get kids talking, laughing, debating, and thinking anytime, anywhere.

Help for Youth Ministry! .......2006-11-19
I was recommended this book at a church leadership conference and purchased it shortly after. This book will not disappoint you and is well worth the money spent. It can be used to get youth and workers talking in Sunday School or Small Groups. I have also used it to spark discussion in my weekly emails to people in the youth group as a youth pastor.
Great Conversation Starters.......2001-12-10
The What If, Would You Rather, Have You Ever, and Unfinished Sentences have opened doors for conversations with the youth of the church. They are great ice breakers for young adults who are not familiar with each other and start conversations that show differences and similarities of opinions. I would recommend all of them to anyone who works with youth.
A must have for any youth pastor, director or worker!.......1999-05-27
I purchased this book to use with my combined youth group of 7th to 12th graders. It is by far one of the best resources I have purchased. This book poses questions would you rather a or b and then the kids are to respond and tell why. This is the one book that consistently gets my youth talking. The discussion varies each time due to the various youth that are at an event. We have gotten off track on a number of questions due to the responses and then the youth wanting to respond to that etc. I recently lost my copy and will be purchasing a new one soon.
Kids need love - Build Relationships with this one.......1998-04-22
This handy pocket book provides a window into the minds of teenagers. Through fun, creative questions, kids become less guarded and begin to open up and share their values. Questions like "Would you rather be gossiped about or lied to?" get them thinking, debating, talking, and laughing. You'll want to keep a copy of this book any place you hang out with kids--in your office, at home, on trips, in your car. This is one resource you'll want for every member of your youth ministry team! Perfect to use for-- Ice breakers - Discussion starters - Community building = Wrestling with faith issues = or just for fun!
Great in the classroom.......1998-04-15
Wihile substitute teaching in a junior high school, and waiting for an assembly to start the class asked to play "Would you rather..." This involved using the book and students volunteering to call out a number and then answer the would you rather... question. The biggest problem was having the class end before everyone got to answer a question.
Turnned out that this was normally a "reward" for hard work. It was very impressive and caused a great deal of comments, replies and interaction.

Funny book, but there's better stuff out there........2003-01-13
Very creative and funny book. It makes you wonder what this guy does all day. You will laugh out loud at the hilarious yet ridiculous scenarios presented by the author. If you like silly humor, buy this. The best material I have ever seen in this genre is on ... Check it out!
Again, a good book to read with friends, at parties, in groups, etc.
Even tickles Granny's fanny (oops fancy).......2000-06-16
My grandson said "Would you rather 2" is not for Gomberg's rabbi or for grandmas. Eric you're wrong; I read it and wept. I laughed til I cried. These dilemnas are deranged and so are the authors.
Don't tell my grandson, but I just laughed through the first "Would you rather". Wickedly funny and witty, but number "2" is even more hilarious.
Boys, I can't wait for your next book.
Not as amusing as the first "Would You Rather".......1999-12-29
While it's not as hysterically funny as the first book, it's still quite amusing. They didn't use ALL their good ideas in the first one; they did save some for this sequel. But if you're only going to buy one, make it the original.
This book and its predecessor are great party material. Leave the book out on the table and wait for the fun to begin.
Sensational.......1999-10-26
Now I'm not much or a fan of humor or "comedy." However, somebody slipped this book into my chambers and I couldn't help but read it. I must say, I couldn't put it down. I didn't cry, though.
Anxiously awaiting Bautista.......1999-04-16
I hope that this upcoming work includes a further tribute to the great Duke cell biology student Phil Bautista. Not only did he have a lightning-quick, left-hand-dominant game on the basketball court, but he was remarkably adept with a quitar and with song lyrics featuring Sethi and Lin. I feel that Heimberg and Gomberg are up to the challenge of this sequel; Gomberg is like Maggette.

It’s amazing what can happen when you ask a silly question. Most of the time, a student's answer has a story behind it. Explore the answer and you can learn about students’ values, fears, and faith. Given the choice, we think most kids would rather read John Burningham's books than taste slug dumplings, jump in nettles, or possibly even dance with a goat. However, in the delightfully silly Would You Rather..., readers are invited to play with these and many other ideas--absurd, gross, or tantalizing. A small mop-topped child lets his imagination run away with such personal challenges as, "Would you rather have supper in a castle, breakfast in a balloon, or tea on the river?" The oversized format is perfect for reading aloud, as long as the reader allows plenty of time for the audience to peruse the award-winning author-illustrator's humorous pictures (in one spread, the protagonist looks like he'd rather be anywhere but here as he is systematically crushed by a snake, swallowed by a fish, eaten by a crocodile, and sat on by a rhinoceros). For TV-weary children who have seen cartoon characters squashed and revived a thousand times, the nightmarish aspects of this reprinted 1978 charmer will not be overly alarming, but the faint of heart may want to look elsewhere for a soothing bedtime story... perhaps Burningham's own Hushabye? (Ages 4 to 7) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
Would you rather have supper in a castle, breakfast in a balloon, or tea on the river? Would you rather be made to eat spider stew, taste slug dumplings, chew mashed worms, or drink a snail shake? In a series of challenges inspired by the beloved game Top That!, John Burningham lets readers' imaginations soar with propositions from the whimsical to the outrageous. Here is a surefire giggle-getter for storytime, perfect for sharing with any child who's ever wanted to do something completely out of the ordinary.

A little odd...but fun.......2006-03-22
This book ranges from the silly to the odd. It all depends on how comfortable you (or your kids) are with kid fears. It gets a little gross at times, but if you are comfortable with it, it can be fun. I know 3 boys (ages 3-5) who really enjoyed the ick factor of this book. It is also a really good springboard for discussions about making choices, especially for kids who see things in black and white. There are a lot of grey areas here.
Would You Rather.......2006-01-12
This is a wonderful book. It was my favorite when I was child.
I am now a parent and a Children's Librarian and the book is still just as good now as it was in the 1970's. Children love to make their own choices, even if it is something yucky, it is fun to be grossed out!!!! Not only does it entertain it makes children think!! Great book!
Forget Fear and Nasea before Bedtime's review!!!.......2005-03-25
I am delighted to see this book is available in reprint. I was lucky enough to enjoy it as a child in it's original form.. and many many nights would trot off to bed with it when told there would be a bedtime story!
This book was my favorite. The illustrations are unique.. and make the reader curious about the unusual predicaments. Such fun!
I think this is a wondeful children's book. And I am very happy to see that the new generation has an opportunity to enjoy it too.
A Fun, Funny, Discussion-provoking book.......2004-02-25
A year ago my family discovered this wonderful book and my kids and I all love it. They howl with glee over the disgusting choices, and ponder thoughtfully over the more enjoyable choices. There is always much discussion and explanation of preferences, the pros and cons of being pulled through the mud by a dog versus being covered in jam, or whether having a koala bear you can read to or a pig you can ride on would be more fun.
This is one of the few books of my experience that transcends both sex and age - both my sons and my daughter, ranging from 3 -8 years all enjoy it, making it a rare commodity: something they can all agree on.
But the best part is that now the kids love to make up their own "would you rathers". This has become a favorite car game, and I love the creativity and imagination they put into it.
Whole Brain Learning At Its Best.......2003-08-25
As a researcher and educator in the field of whole brain learning, I have to say I've loved this book for 25 years. Children 4-8 years old are not "undone" by the scenarios involved, rather they are delighted by guided choices that tantalize the right hemisphere where one imagines and generate energy in structures in the brain referred to as the limbic system. Perhaps some adults react with displeasure to the offerings, but children do not unless they are "trained" to react negatively to the ideas because of adult perceptions. Brainwise, children are NOT simply little adults. If you really want this book to have a true whole brain impact, do not display the illustrations until after a child has made a choice!

Would you rather be a stick or a stone? A cat or a dog? Thunder or lightning? William Steig (Sylvester and the Magic Pebble) teams up with illustrator Harry Bliss (A Fine, Fine School) in this simple picture book that cleverly illustrates the Would you rather... game popularized by the chirp y, leggy Jiminy Cricket. A magician's bunny, equipped with wand and black top hat, asks a boy and a girl which of two things they'd rather be. "A stick?" he asks as he conjures a stick out of the hat. "Or a stone?" he asks as he produces a hovering rock. Of course, the action picks up a little as living creatures start to emerge from the hat. (The kids have to run off, for instance, when they have to choose between a mouse and an elephant.) Grownup or kid? The grownup is a balding businessman reading a newspaper (while sticking out of the magician's hat), the kid is a skateboarding kid zooming out of the hat. The children, usually silent, quickly decide on that one.
If Harry Bliss had to choose between being himself or a bird, he wouldn't decide at all. He would want wings and he "definitely would not eat worms--no way." There's plenty of fodder for a lively read-aloud session here, as kids get creative in their analysis of the pros and cons of being a cat or a dog, etc., etc. For more complicated (and downright odd) choices, try John Burningham's delightful Would You Rather.... (Ages 3 to 6) --Karin Snelson

instant hit... nice idea.......2005-08-31
my twins liked this book straight away. at 2 and a half they picked up on the theme and started making up "which would you rather be" questions of their own. I'd recommend this book. It's a good imagination stimulant.
Enchanting for toddlers and adults alike.......2004-08-07
My 2-year old is entranced by this book and asks for it again and again. The drawings appeal to both a child and adult I think--simple, clear, great color, but with sophisticated humor too. Toddlers enjoy the repetition of the simple text. A great opportunity to compare ordinary objects and various living things.
Decisions, Decisions............2002-07-27
As a large, gray, wand wielding rabbit, complete with upturned magician's hat, sits facing a young boy and girl, he asks..."Which would you rather be? A stick or a stone?" And so the game begins. Would you rather be an elbow or a knee, mouse or elephant, rain or snow, snake or crocodile, alone or together? Some of the answers seem to be obvious, as we see a balding, eyeglass wearing, paper reading grown-up come out of the hat, compared to a skateboard riding kid. But it's clear from the start that there are no right or wrong answers. Just thoughtful, clever fun. William Steig's minimal text, floating in dialogue bubbles, sets the stage. But it's Harry Bliss' bold, bright, and expressive artwork that steals the show with its humorous detail. Perfect for preschoolers, Which Would You Rather Be? is a simple and entertaining picture book that will get those creative juices flowing. This is just the beginning; the game is sure to continue long after the book is closed.
Book Description
Would you rather be a clarinet . . . a trombone . . . or a drum? (How would you like to have someone going BOOM-BOOM on your tum?) Beginning readers are asked to ponder these–and a host of other odd
choices–in this charming, provocative book by Dr. Seuss that encourages children to let their imaginations fly.

Would You Rather Be a Bullfrog?.......2003-12-03
"Tell me! Would you rather be a dog... or a cat? It's time for you to think about important things like that." This is how the wonderful book Would you Rather be a Bullfrog starts off. Throughout the book the reader is questioned on what they would rather be, and a cat and dog is just the beginning. By the time you've finished reading the book you've been asked if `you'd rather have a feather or a bushy tail behind', whether you'd rather be a minnow or a whale, a hammer or a nail.
This story is told in rhyme, the standard for all Dr. Seuss books. The pictures are all bright and colorful, and the book is quite straightforward; it comes right out and asks you things, no beating around the bush for it! I think this is a wonderful book in part because it can be so much fun imagining which out of the options provided you'd rather be. Another thing that makes it a wonderful book is the special charm all Dr. Seuss books have.
