Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Faith, Science & Understanding is a brief, erudite collection of writings by John Polkinghorne, a fellow of Queen's College, Cambridge, and one of the world's leading experts on science and theology. Polkinghorne begins this book by exploring the place of theology in the university, the role of revelation in religion, and the particular relations that have formed between theology and various disciplines within the sciences. Building on these foundations, Part II of the book considers the question that dominated theology-and-science debates during the 1990s: "How we may conceive of divine agency in a way that respects the integrity of the scientific account of the process of the physical world and which also does justice to the religious intuition and experience of God's providential interaction within history?" Finally, Part III provides Polkinghorne's assessment of the entire English tradition of thinking about theology and science as well as his opinions regarding the work of his eminent colleagues in the field. Polkinghorne's lapidary English prose polishes his insights to a fine luster; this is not the kind of plain talking you'll find in Richard Feynmann. But the reader's patience is rewarded. Faith, Science & Understanding is a short book that expertly surveys a long history--an excellent orientation to a complex and important set of questions. --Michael Joseph Gross
Book Description
In this captivating book, one of the most highly regarded scientist- theologians of our time offers a thought-provoking exploration of the interaction between science and theology. John Polkinghorne defends the place of theology in the university, discusses the role of revelation in religion, and focuses closely on reconciling what science can say about the processes of the universe with theology's belief in a God active within creation.

Interesting Meditations on Religion and Science.......2006-02-13
John Polkinghorne, a theoretical physicist and an Anglican priest, has written a series of well-thought-out essays on the connection between science and religion. By avoiding the extremes of complete philosophical isolation and total integration, he provides us with not so much a conclusion as an understanding of an on-going dialogue. He takes an explicitly Christian approach to the subject, though he acknowledges that other faiths might come to different conclusions (and that the question of the existence of many different faiths deserves its own separate discussion.) Some key topics include:
Historical relations between science and religion in universities.
Being a person of both faith and science.
The importance of divine revelation.
Faith and science in the field of biology.
Scientific theories and theological concepts of current interest.
How God works in the universe.
Discussion of other important workers in the science and religion field.
All in all, this was a very worthwhile read. If you want to learn more about the connection between science and religion while avoiding the seemingly endless (and circular) discussions of "intelligent design," you will find that Polkinghorne has a very refreshing approach to the subject.

How can science be reconciled with a belief in a God active in creation, not evolution? Faith, Science & Understanding explores different aspects of science and theology, defending the place of theology in the scientific world and discussing how religious ideas and can still coexist within the scientific framework. Recommended for any interested in the science/theology debate.

pascal's fire: scientific faith and religious understanding.......2007-05-13
the delivery was fast, but it cost too much.
a win-win for faith and reason.......2006-07-25
In "Pascal's Fire", Keith Ward reflects on the relationship between faith and the findings of modern science, treating topics such as - among others - chance and necessity, quantum physics and the mechanistic universe, the evolution of order in the universe, leading to life and ultimately to self-awareness and responsibility, the origin and future of the cosmos etc. The existence of an ultimate mind who chose to create a rationally intelligible universe which functions through laws that can be expressed in mathematical terms, but who also freely intervenes in the context of an otherwise autonomous progress of self-organisation of the universe, for which it was originally set up and by which it reaches goals of intrinsic value, are presented - and, in my view, convincingly so - as a rational and coherent explanation for the universe. In other words, the observation of the universe suggests such a mind. The argument progresses to show that this ultimate mind can also be viewed as personal, loving and compassionate, though in a way far beyond anthropomorphic projections. A purely scientific approach, however, is blind to the personal side of God, Ward argues - this is where personal experience, feeling and intuition come in, and may legitimately be taken seriously.
All in all, Keith Ward's holistic approach, integrating faith and reason in his intellectual quest, is inspiring and reminded me of the "two wings" of faith and reason by which man strives toward the truth, of which John Paul II wrote. To me,after having read this book, the apparent contradiction between evolution and intelligent design is resolved. In short, it's a win-win for faith and reason!

Of the interactions between God and his creation.......2002-04-11
Fossils & Faith: Understanding Torah And Science by Nathan Aviezer (Professor of Physics, Bar-llan University, Israel) is a thoughtful, serious, scholarly analysis of the books of the Bible and the evidence of modern science, and endeavors to show that accepting the truth of God does not mean that one must discard rational thinking. A profound study of both evidence and theology, persuasively argued and with an especial emphasis on the importance of the Torah, Fossils & Faith is a dichotomy between practices filled with meaningful ideas that bear reading for people of all religious faiths. Fossils & Faith is highly recommended reading for students of the complexities and interrelationships of science and religion, of the interactions between God and his creation.
Book Description
In this introduction to religion and science, William Chalker outlines the nature of knowledge involved in claims about science and about religion and delineates a compatible relationship between these two fields of understanding. According to Chalker, both science and theology have their proper realms. While science and theology are different in several crucial respects, they are not incompatible. Science, he explains, is a human intellectual activity whose aim is to produce knowledge claims that will maximize utility. Theology, in contrast, is a human intellectual activity whose aim is to produce knowledge claims about ultimate purpose. The two areas of knowledge are grounded in two very basic and very different kinds of human needs. Through explaining the differences in the nature of truth claims in science and theology, Chalker hopes to dissolve the seemingly intractable conflict between scientific and theological ways of thinking. Written accessibly and engagingly, Science and Faith will be welcomed both by the general reader and by students in undergraduate and seminary classes.
Customer Reviews:
An interesting rubric.......2007-02-13
This book attempts to address the dichotomy between truth-claims of science and faith by establishing some ground rules (what he calls "rubrics":
1. In our analyses, we do not describe reality as it actually is, but only as we "experience" it (because all we know has come to us through our personal experience (whatever medium of learning) and so we can only know about the "putative" reality we describe/construct from our experiences.
2. Science is a paradigm operating from the rubric of utility. Our putative scientific experiments and theorization are directed toward accurately describing what we see in putative reality, but do not necessarily describe what really IS in "metaphysical reality" (because putative reality is all we can know about, via our experience.) There are no scientific "facts" which have an independent existence of their own, but only scientific theories which more and more accurately describe what we encounter in putative reality. If a later scientific formulation or theory more accurately corresponds with observed putative reality, then that scientific formulation would replace earlier iterations.
3. Religion is a paradigm operating within the rubric not of utility (which would lead to heresy) but instead operates within the rubric of ultimate purposes. (The ultimate purpose of existence is for all creation to be fulfilled according to the intention/desire of a loving, all-caring Father.) Therefore theology is most properly understood as that which aligns with this rubric (holiness is what aligns with God's desire for fulfillment of creation, "sin" is what turns us away from God's desire/plan, etc.)
By realizing that science and religion operate within these two different paradigms, or rubrics, we can understand that apparent conflicts between "science" and "faith" do not occur. When we deal with science, we know we are operating from the rubric of "utility" and understand that what science does/says is from that premise. When we deal with theology, we know we are operating under the rubric of "ultimate purposes" and understand that theology is not impaired/contradicted by "science" based in our "putative reality." Chalker suggests that conflict occurs when we discuss science in terms of "ultimate purposes" of putative reality, and/or discuss theology in terms of "utility" in putative reality.
I found this book to be somewhat dry reading, but after plowing through it I feel that it presents an interesting thesis.
A further thought for reflection - what is "utility" but a description of the "ultimate purpose" of something? In this way, are the two rubrics a false dichotomy?

Book Description
Rheology--the study of the deformation and flow of matter--deals primarily with the stresses generated during the flow of complex materials including polymers, colloids, foams, and gels. A rapidly growing and industrially important field, it plays a significant role in polymer processing, food processing, coating and printing, and many other manufacturing processes. Designed as a main text for advanced undergraduate- or graduate-level courses in rheology or polymer rheology, Understanding Rheology is also an ideal self-teaching guide for practicing engineers and scientists who find rheological principles applicable to their work. Covering the most important aspects of elementary modern rheology, this detailed and accessible text opens with an introduction to the field and then provides extensive background chapters on vector and tensor operations and Newtonian fluid mechanics. It continues with coverage of such topics as: * Standard Flows for Rheology * Material Functions * Experimental Observations * Generalized Newtonian Fluids * Generalized Linear-Viscoelastic Fluids * Nonlinear Constitutive Equations * Rheometry, including rheo-optics Understanding Rheology incorporates helpful pedagogical aids including numerous problems for each chapter, many worked examples, and an extensive glossary. It also contains useful appendices on nomenclature, mathematical tools, predictions of constitutive equations, and birefringence.
Customer Reviews:
Good beginner's book.......2003-10-04
The book covers the basic tools needed to understand rheology.
From the vector and tensor analysis to the constitutive equations, this book offers good detail. It does lack some in-depth analysis of more difficult problems. The examples in the book are much different than assigned problems.
The polymeric section containing the memory function was sufficient, however, it was not as clearly presented as in previous chapters.
Overall, I recommend this book.

A Great Book for Christians.......2007-06-08
David Wilcox has provided a great service to the Christian community by producing this book. He gently takes his readers through a variety of issues related to evolution. He makes a valuable distinction between methodological evolution and metaphysical evolution. I would recommend this book to Christians who wants to better understand their faith in light of current scientific thought. Dr. Wilcox, please continue to write!!!
A Realistic Book On The Creation v Evolution Debate.......2006-08-01
This is the most intelligent book I have ever read on evolution vs creation. The author thinks that creation and evolution are not mutually exclusive theories. This is neither an apologetic for creationism nor a defense of theistic evolution but an in between position that lines up with the Catholic view of evolution. Wilcox examines the evidence in an unbiased and balanced way. He writes in clear, accessible language without scientific jargon.
Book Description
In FAITH SEEKING UNDERSTANDING anatomist and theologian John Shackleford explores the scientific evidence for a personal, loving God. He demonstrates that religious faith and scientific inquiry should not be seen as competitors, diametrically opposed to each other, but rather as complementary ways to assist the human quest for knowledge and deeper meaning of existence. And he promotes the idea that the study of science can actually enhance our understanding of God.
Rather than seeking to reconcile science and religion as do some works of this genre, the author demonstrates the necessity of science in God's overall strategy for our salvation. The author presents his view of creation as a work of art in progress. Human participation in God's work of art, and the struggle towards its final completion, is necessary if we are to survive as a species. One conclusion of this viewpoint is that a spiritual message lies hidden in the laws of physics and chemistry, and that creation itself is a sacrament of God.
FAITH SEEKING UNDERSTANDING is a timely work for the debate on the validity of evolutionary theory, intelligent design, and creationism. It shows how science, when approached from an attitude of faith, is a glorious adventure that points to the magnificent source of all reality. This work lends itself to the format of study groups, especially in adult faith formation. It also serves as an excellent survey of the intellectual history of the world, as well as the role of science and religious faith in the struggle to become better children of God.
