I've used many of Kay Arthur's publications and products and they've never disappointed me. She's truly a Bible scholar and one of today's finest Bible literacy teacher world wide. Men and women both are privileged to sit under her teaching, simply because she relies totally on the Holy Spirit to be the teacher.

I love Kay. She always seeks to make real-world applications. She does this so well for adults, I was curious to see how she would do with kids. In summary--not quite as well.
This book could be better described as "How to teach your kids the Bible". It has wonderful precepts and concepts, but these will be better used by adults FOR young children than BY those children.
Teens will be OK with these concepts, but I doubt a teenager would pick up a book with this cover.
If you have teenagers who are really into specific books of the bible, I would suggest (for Revelation at least) "Dragons, Grasshoppers & Frogs!".
For general bible study for teens, I think "What the Bible is all About" by H. Mears would be a better choice.
Again--Kay's precepts and concepts here are great. They are just a bit above the level of the audience for which they are directed.
Be Smart!.......2005-10-19
This book has great content. My group of thirteen 5th graders is enjoying the book a great deal. However, the teacher needs to be smart about how to take concepts that are WAY above the heads of this age group and make them understandable. I wasn't too impressed with the books explanations. Using only the book I still got blank stares back from my group. An example of this would be the importance of historical, geographical, and cultural context. The book gave abstract examples that were not helpful to the kids. It took some time and some more age relevant examples for the kids to get those concepts. With that said, I still think this book is worthy of consideration.

This is a very informational book. Dr. Rohm is so informative on this subject. I read this book a couple of years ago, before I got to see him in at a conference. I would recommend this book to anybody and everybody. I would also recommend that you see this guy in action..he is soo fun and interesting. I can hardly wait to get another book/CD or see Dr. Rohm again.
Accepting and Understanding Yourself and Others.......2002-09-28
There are a myriad of books discussing personality types in all kinds of esoteric ways -- from the Enneagram to Numerology to the Meyer-Briggs typology. All those may be very useful to a professional in the field of psychology or sociology, but for a person who wants simply to get a handle on how to work and play with others, they are far too complex and obscure.
The beauty of "Positive Personality Profiles" is that it is simple and deep. It uses the basic concept of four personality types that has been around for centuries. These personalities are identified by letters (rather than the Greek terms - Sanguine, Choleric, etc.). The author advises that most people are COMBINATIONS of the four types. But generally a person will emphasize one or two primary ways of behaving and being.
If you approach this book with a reasonable balance of skepticism and openness, you may find a lot of value in here. The viewpoint of the author is frankly Christian, and he uses examples from the New Testament to back up his ideas. This may offend some, though it didn't bother me and I'm Jewish. I enjoyed his writing style and anecdotes.
I also appreciate the genuine good will that pervades this book. The author wants to lead us readers down a path of acceptance and understanding. This is not about categorizing and judging people, but about letting them into our hearts.
Restore Relationships/Enjoy Life With Others More.......2002-08-17
Figure out why you just don't understand some people. Figure out why some people come across as jerks (Or why some people think YOU do).
This book helped me rid myself of a judgmental mentality as it pertains to others, and helped me restore some very important relationships in my life. We're all different, right? Well, this book puts it all together and helps a lay person make sense of the human personality.
Another review has complained about the simplistic approach. Well, not all of us are interested in becoming masters at the DISC profile. Some of us just want to understand it enough to get along in life better. This book does just that, and then some.
Elementary.......2002-03-27
I didn't like the author's approach. I felt as if I were reading a book meant from my 6th grader. I was very offended by the repetitive statements; if I didn't get it the first time it was stated three more times. Duh! For the newcomer to DiSC or temperments, this book would be a find. But for someone wanting to deepen their knowledge, it was a waste. Too elementary. I would recommend "Different Children, Different Needs" (this author contributed) or "Understanding How Others Misunderstand You."

With this book, anyone can tap into the Bible expertise of Kay Arthur and study through the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Originally the material in this book was only available in the Inductive Study Bible but now you can access it with this book--and use whatever Bible to study through the Scriptures.
If you want to know more about the Bible, use this book. It's an excellent resource and guide for a self-guided study of the entire Bible. Also it's another well-written reference book which is packed with insight and information.

This is a great book, but if you alredy have the New Inductive Study Bible than you already have all the material in this book. I have the Bible and when I bought this book I was disapointed to find out it was all the same, but it still great as a gift.

I bought this product to have a time of Bible Study with my grandchildren. They're too young at this time (3 years and only 9 months), but I did look over the book and I think it will be an excellent tool to talk about God with my grandchildren and to have a Godly activity at home.

I really liked this book, although one thing that I didn't like was that some of the days were four or so pages long, and some were one or two pages. I don't always want to do or have time to do four pages. But all in all, it was really cool and fun to learn about. They also taught good life lessons like telling the truth, and always treating everyone the same! 5 stars!!!

My 8 year old son and I love to do this Bible study together. He is learning critical thinking as well as reading comprehension on the side. The study has encouraged application and is teaching him the ability to make conclusions on his own based on the text. He's even referred to things he's learned from the study in the normal course of our day.
An excellent study for 5th/6th graders.......2001-01-24
We are using this book as the text for a class for 5th and 6th grade girls at church. They really love it and are absorbing the spiritual truths from it more completely than we ever would have expected.
It is designed as an advice columnist. "Letters from readers" are presented and the portions of James that apply to the Biblical truths related to the questions and issues presented are studied. Then, the class "writes" a response incorporating those truths.
The book looks fun and includes some crossword puzzles, opportunities to draw, etc and the kids love it, but it is also a quality Bible study that keeps the students interest and includes scripture memorization and application in situations the targeted age group can relate to. I fully recommend this book, or any of Kay Arthur's materials to anyone who wants a substantive but doable Bible study.

Divorce Is Always Transformational: Use It For Good.......2007-08-18
I loved the title of this book and bought it for that reason. I was not familiar with previous work from this author.
Cheerful but not annoying, encouraging but not shallow, the author manages to help divorced women (her primary focus) see divorce as an opportunity to move forward, changing their lives and their futures in positive ways.
Without thinking about it, we always label divorce as a negative: it is. But if we are open to learning, growing, maturing, and becoming a better person, divorce gives us that opportunity --- whether we want it or not.
This is a well-written book from an author who clearly understands the thoughts, feelings, and struggles of divorced women. Very well done.

Thnak God for this book. I have been divorced for almost a year. My ex was a cheater and I could not put up with this behavior anymore. I missed my old life style though. I have to start from scatch. I was a housewife with a BA degree. So now, I am looking for a job. Most of my friends and family were through my ex's family and any other friends that were married have seemed to have forgotten me.
This book gave me the blue print to move on and forward. This is the best book for any women trying to start fresh. Good luck to you!

I have looked at these Kay Arthur Kid studies for years because I have been leading Precept Inductive studies since 2000. My kids are just the right age for them. I have two boys in 4th and 6th grade, and they are loving this study. They make storyboards and search for key words and answer 5 W and an H questions, and they are really enjoying it. We do it every other day during our Bible time in homeschool.
As a special bonus, since we are making a "movie" of the book of John, we watch The Gospel of John on DVD. It is a word-for-word script of the book of John. It is great for them to see an actual movie interpretation fo the chapter they just studied inductively.
It is a hit so far!

I'm using this book for my son's third grade Bible program. It's fast moving and fun, yet very extensive with weekly memory verses and step by step bible reading and questions about the child's own walk with the Lord. It puts the child in the role of a movie director researching Jesus' life for a movie. There are lots of study questions, as well as games and puzzles to make it really interesting. Third grade is the very youngest I would have a child doing this study, in fact we are taking 2 weeks to do each weekly unit, and it would be just as interesting for an older child up through jr. high.
