Book Description
What does it mean to be 'On the Square'?
700,00 Freemasons, all male, probably make the largest secret society in Britain today. What exactly are they? Why are they so incredibly secretive? Is Freemasonry a positive, charitable organization which incorporates a certain amount of harmless mumbo-jumbo, or does it in fact represent something more sinister?
Stephen Knight's impartial - but highly controversial - investigation addresses these vital questions and asks:
DOES FREEMASONRY INFLUENCE OUR POLICE AND JUDICIARY?
CAN A CHRISTIAN BE A FREEMASON?
HAVE THE KGB PENETRATED THE FREEMASONS?
DOES FREEMASONRY LEAD TO CORRUPTION IN PUBLIC LIFE
Freemasons are all bound to silence, but now some of them have felt impelled to break ranks and reveal part of the truth...
Customer Reviews:
It may be biased as hell, but its a fascinating read........2006-05-06
Lets be honest, this book shouldnt be taken as fact. It's another highly embellished anti-masonic writer who has something out for the Freemonry Brotherhood, but it's so full of conspiracy theories (written as conspiracy fact) that one wonders whether or not David Duchovny is tracking some Freemason X-file. For anyone interested in pseudo-history, this is the book or them. Not that it's all false. It's much along the lines of "Holy Blood, Holy Grail". There's some relatively unbiased stuff about the formation of the order. I'm just glad i read it before Dan Brown can dissect it for his latest work of historical plagiarism.
Anti-Masonic Book.......2006-03-15
Beware! This is an anti-Masonic book and should not be looked upon as a book to provide actual facts concerning Freemasonry. This book is recommended only if one wishes to see the nonsense the anti-Masons are saying about Freemasonry.
For more balanced and factual accounts of the nature of Freemasonry, read: 'Is it True what they Say about Freemasonry?' by Arturo de Hoyos & S. Brent Morris, 'Masonic Questions and Answers' by Paul M. Bessel & 'A Pilgrim's Path: Freemasonry and the Religious Right' by John J. Robinson.
One of most important things you will ever read 2 survive.......2004-08-25
Freedom of the press around the world is rather an illusionary lie. Most of the corporate conglomerates have monopolized free speech and freedom of expression that goes hand in hand with it. Each citizen that fails to learn the massive destruction to freedom that has occurred in the G-8 nations is an impediment to that which I try to do for you peacefully, truthfully, and in the true spirit of friendship.
Though the man was not perfect by any means, he was dedicated to personal and national freedom of citizens......Read the personal letters and writings of Thomas Jefferson. The United States today mocks the truth of our sincere beginnings at justice and liberty for all. The prejudices of society in his time kept him from doing many of the things he would have preferred to do. One thing is certain, every centimeter of the land and waterways of the Louisiana Purchase was paid for with gold. No amount of fiat money has yet paid the FULL sterling value for it, nor even come close to such.
For more info on this email sundown1919@yahoo.com or sundown1919@canada.com or visit my website at www.geocities.com/sundown1919
I have been meaning to read this book, you can't find it in the USA because the conglomerates that control the media also control the various printing companies, all paid for by fiat money.....so we have many ligitimate grievances to itemize where fiat money is involved in the payment, it can only represent an IOU for any labor rendered. The law of mortmain kills the corporate claims before they utter even one word.
In the 1960's most of the 50 US states in preparation for the next attrocity, the Uniform Commerical Code, tried to legislate away the long established English Common Law of Mortmain. It prevented abuses of the artificial entites such as the Roman Catholic Church, and to day also involves all such corporations of business.
Founding Fathers and Freemasonry........2003-02-17
To the gentlemen from Miami, Fl
How ironic that you hold these founding fathers and freemasons in high esteem. True they wrote great documents and completed great works. But, all the while as Masons and so call Christians, they had no problem enslaving African Americans and people of African decent. "All men are created Equal..."
A classic anti-Masonic book.......2002-08-07
An interesting account of Freemasonry from an ýoutsidersý view. He noted that many ýoutsidersý would not publish works on the subject for fear of offending or causing resentment among the Freemasons. Despite this, Knight gives insight into the origins and fundamental points of Freemasonry and the process of recruitment and initiation into the explored. He also examines the power and influence in politics and the religious beliefs. Index I of this study includes Information For Candidates (from The Universal Book of Craft Masonry) with suggested readings and Masonic periodicals. Purporting to expose the 'evils' of Masonry primarily in the United Kingdom, this book (written in the early 1980s and, as the author states, in a very short time) seeks to further incite the public as a follow-up to his prior work which claimed that Jack the Ripper was a Mason!
Mr. Knight weaves a tale from his imagination using any 'unnamed sources' whom he claims were at the highest levels of Freemasonry. One such example is a "West End Mason". Ironically, that person - whom, like all of his sources, Knight claims needed anonymity, has identified himself online as being James Todd who publishes an online rant aptly called "VOMIT" ('Victims of Masonic Ill-Treatment'). Todd, curiously, was never an English Mason but rather joined in Scotland and was a member there for a short period. He claims that he was forced to join the organization and, clearly, hated it. Suffice it to say, no one is forced to join Freemasonry (particularly in Scotland) and Todd's attitudes and age (not to mention his abiding hatred for politicians and police) are hardly conducive to an honest presentation. You can read all about Mr. Todd's anti-Masonic and anti-Semitic rants right here. Using sources such as this to support his work puts Mr. Knight on a very shaky foundation indeed.
From the Southern Baptist Convention's Study on Freemasonry we learn that Knight rejected the Christian faith, became a Sannyasin (a religious belief we've found precious little about), and changed his name to Swami Puja Deval in 1983. He died of a (proven) brain tumor in 1985 but anti-Masons enjoy hinting that he was somehow murdered to silence him. (The claim of Masonic actions against those who speak against Freemasonry is easily disproven by the continued lives of other anti-Masonic authors - as well as the death of Masonic authors and historians!)
Even today, UK politicians looking for a 'hook' on which to garner favor will use this book as their crutch. Imagined and/or phony characters painted to look their worst so the author could sell yet another book and appeal to people's fears, this one succeeded and now is the false basis for many anti-Masonic rants.

Had the OPPOSITE EFFECT Than Author Intended!.......2007-08-11
If you are a fundamentalist Christian you might love this book because it will feed that self-righteous attitude of intolerance that many Christians have for everyone who does not believe exactly as they do!
If you are not a Christian you may be offended by the arrogant, judgmental, holier-than thou attitude that the author portrays. However, the information in this book is fascinating!
If you are a Brother or Sister of The Order you will either be offended or amused at this pitiful attempt to discredit and slander an organization that is rich with history, knowledge and wisdom.
Sadly, the author is so thoroughly brainwashed by a modern religion that was designed to control the masses, that she cannot see past the profane, exoteric levels of the symbolism of Freemasonry and OES. She cites that pompus moron Anton LeVay, who invented his own religion and used it to perpetrate lies, myths and half truths in his so-called, Satanic Bible, back in the 1960's. Freemasonry is a lot older than that and the symbolism of Freemasonry and OES have NOTHING to do with that nutjob LaVey!
I gave this book a 4 star rating simply because the book is well researched and I enjoyed reading it. And also because it had the opposite effect than the author intended, which was to convince people to leave the OES or refrain from joining OES.
I find the symbolism of Freemasonry and OES very fascinating and educated myself on the multi-layered meanings that the symbols have. masonry is rich with history and symbolism carried over from ancient times. Freemasonry is a beautiful testament to our ancestors and our cultural roots, and represents and encompasses all the religions and beliefs. All religions come from a single source and nothing presents that in a more respectful and compassionate way than Freemasonry!
Peace to ALL
Chistian Bashing.......2007-08-09
...that's all this book does is bash the Christians that started the Order of the Eastern Star.
WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2006-06-15
I am sooooooooooooo disappointed. This book is very ANTI-Masonic, which figures. Everyone fears what they don't understand or OVERALL don't know. This author needs to but her ANTI-Masonic views into something good like figuring out how to END GLOBAL WARMING!!!
Amazingly researched and documented. .......2006-03-04
One negative is that this book at times seems to deal with Freemasonry more than OES. But then again it's understandable why the author had to spend so much time on the Freemasonry angle. A key part of this book is to show that OES and Freemasonry are intimately connected. Then she shows that Masonry has demonic/occult roots, thus OES also has occultic/demonic roots by being an outgrowth of Freemasonry.
The parts that deal mainly with OES are interesting. But the parts dealing with the occultic roots of Freemasonry are absolutely riveting. The book's hundreds of footnotes show that the author put a lot of effort into putting this book together.
Of course, hardcore masons and the like will hate this book for the most part. Those who are open enough to read this book from cover to cover might find this book eye-opening, as I did. This book is written from a Christian , anti-Masonic perspective, so those coming from that perspective will find this book most useful.
Do Not Buy on Editorial Description!.......2004-10-12
if you are looking for an unbias book of information on the Eastern Star -THIS IS NOT IT!!! For all the fundamental Christians -you will thoroughly enjoy this book as it tries to make every symbol -a link to satanic forces very similar to "The Church Lady" character on Saturday Night Live. I bought this book based on the editorial review and was very disappointed.
Book Description
This book traces the machinations of the world's best known secret fraternity as it has operated historically in the United States, particularly with regard to its unrelenting warfare against Christianity, especially the Catholic Church.
Perhaps most stunning of all is the book's revelation regarding the fraternity's successful efforts, beginning in 1940 and continuing through 1971, to shape U.S. Supreme Court' First Amendment religious clauses decisions and, thus change America's previous Christian orientation to an ambience that is almost totally secular and, more or less, hostile to Christian values.
Also the long history of Justice Hugo L. Black's religious prejudices are carefully examined, including his lifetime membership in the Ku Klux Klan, and his Constitutional ineligibility to serve on the high bench. Moreover, the work documents that for the first time in its history the Supreme Court was dominated by Freemasons in ratios of 5-4 to 8-1 during the period 1940- 1971.
Behind The Lodge Door is based primarily on an examination of Scottish Rite Freemasonry's flagship monthly publication, The New Age magazine, for each of the 12-month periods 1921- 1981, augmented by documents (several formerly classified "SECRET") in the National Archives, various major newspapers, Congressional debates, House and Senate hearings, selected Congressional acts, Presidential Inaugural Addresses, Internal Revenue documents, and many Supreme Court decisions bearing on the religion clauses.

A Great Book on Freemasonry.......2007-08-12
This is the best book that I have read on Freemasonry so far. By far the best. Paul Fisher should be commended for writing this meticulous work. The author goes right down the line and lists what tactics this group uses and how they use their connections to propogate their religion.
He quotes extensively from their own books and newspapers. The secret society of the freemasons is real and their pagan religion is real and their tactics are real as well as the very real consequences people have to deal with because of their existence.
I myself have had an experience with the freemasons where I had collected some information and quotes on an internet website on my userpage. I was hounded, attacked, accused of all sorts of things and my page was vandalized. In the end they successfully got the information deleted. This is how they work. The funny thing was that all the information that I collected was factual. Many were just quotes from masons in their own works. How afraid they are indeed of the truth!
Fisher's book backs up my experience to show that this is how they have worked for centuries. He also cites how the masons and the Ku Klux Klan were usually one in the same.
The book is written clearly and lists the major figures of American freemasonry and what kind of people they were and it documents how the masons infiltrated the United States Supreme Court so that they could pervert the laws of the country to reflect their secret societies warped view of the world. Many of the liberal laws that we are suffering from today were caused because of freemasons in government and in high places. The book has taught me to never vote for one that's for sure.
Behind the Lodge Door is a great book and an excellent read. Fisher doesn't really examine the spiritual aspects of being a mason however. One book that does, which I recommend is by Dr. Charles H. Kraft calledDefeating Dark Angels: Breaking Demonic Oppression in the Believer's Life. Kraft contests that freemasonry is the most evil group in existence and he backs this up with some very powerful examples.
A Scathing Expose..........2007-05-13
Paul A. Fisher is obviously a Roman Catholic, who not only takes the Catholic stand on the matter of Freemasonry, but did some serious research on the subject of Masonry.
Mr. Fisher also has taken a courageous stand by publishing what must be considered to be a very controversial book.
I'm not a Roman Catholic, but it doesn't take being a Roman Catholic to read and heed the writing on the wall, and reach the conclusion that no committed Christian belongs behind the Lodge Door!
"Behind the Lodge Door" contains a goldmine of information for historians, patriots and Catholics and Non-Catholics who consider themselves Christians.
Quite Good.......2005-09-04
Paul Fisher's important book is thoroughly researched, meticulously documented, and well written. Certainly, it is the clarion call of a Catholic against the dangers of freemasonry in American society. But that is no reason to condemn the book. Rather, understanding the perspective of the author helps us to appreciate more fully what is reflected in the corpus of the work.
And there much in the body of this work that is extremely important and revelatory. For instance, Mr. Fisher shares startling, sensational, and well founded examples of many of America's leaders who were both freemasons and prominent members of the insidious Ku Klux Klan. When the author delves into the influence of secret societies on American history, the work is absolutely great and powerfully important. A small criticism is that, in this reviewer's opinion, too much space is devoted to the supreme court and its penetration by the aforementioned freemasons and Klansmen. This notwithstanding, the book is, in the whole, important and well recommended. May the Lord richly bless the author, his publisher, and any future readers.
Somewhat disappointing.......2004-02-02
I eagerly read this book and found myself somewhat disappointed by the fact that the author's only evidence against Masonry seems to be "guilt by association".
True, the author points out many citations from Masonry's own periodical publication. True, many of the organizations with which Masonry has associated itself in its history (including, regrettably, the KKK) cast some doubt on Masonry. This book, however, falls short of any type of conviction of Masonry.
The only bright spot in this book is that it could serve as a starting point (but no further) for anyone who wants to research the history of Masonic activities in this country. With the historical detail given of the US in the 19th century, one could also use this book as a springboard into studying oppression against Catholics in this country.
But in any event, Holy Mother Church still forbids Catholics to enter into Masonic fraternities (if anyone says otherwise, please go to your favorite search engine and look up the document "Quaesitum Est"), and that being the case, we ought not join them.
Too general to be conclusive. Two stars only.
Uncited Catholic Opposition.......2003-02-27
This work while attempting to appear objective is clearly a work of an Anti-Masonic Catholic. It is no secret that the Catholic Church and Freemasonry have a longstanding relationship of less than amicable terms. Mr. Fisher attended a Catholic University and has since written for several Catholic magazines. This book is even published by a Catholic Publishing company. (Talk about conspiracies!) On top of all these, Mr. Fisher's endnotes cite unidentified sources. (I'm still trying to locate Ibid!) For a truely objective study of Freemasonry and its history, try Robinson's "Born In Blood," a much more scholarly and less sensational book.

Book Description
In the pages of this revealing book, the secret "Plan" of the New Age Movement is exposed for the first time in startling detail. Basing the book on an in-depth investigation of the Movement, author Texe Marrs includes over 600 actual quotes from New Age leaders which unveil their "Plan" for establishing a New Age Messiah to lead a One-World Religion and a global government. As part of the "Plan," the Movement intends to wage a total spiritual war against Christian believers. Their ultimate goal? To eliminate every vestige of Christianity.
This is the most complete and well-documented book ever published about the New Age Movement. It shows exactly what is now being done by the New Age leadership to gain influence in every facet of society, from the entertainment industry to public schools and government. Marrs details specifically the New Age Plan to win over the next generation by flooding the media--TV cartoon shows, movies, comic books, libraries, etc.--with material that promotes New Age religious thinking and doctrine. Finally, Marrs shows how New Age ideas have already begun to infiltrate and undermine Christian churches from within.
Dark Secrets of the New Age is a sobering expos of the alarming New Age Movement with an urgent message for every believing Christian.

Recommended Pre-Requisite: Being a Christian........2006-02-25
If your a fundamentalist Christian or Evangelical this is the book for you. This book will speak volumes to your soul.
This book is ultimatley, all true. There are many New Age leaders and groups, they have agenda's and beliefs, and they are advancing and shaping our culture and world. Even some of the new age leader do hate relligion to the point of trying to destroy it (even if by violence) And Christians do (should) believe everything this book says.
However, Whether or not Christianity is real, or if the New Age is going to end up taking over the world and everyones going to become a demi-god...Is up to the reader.
For the non believer, this book is an interesting and factual read into the beliefs and conflict between two relligious groups if taken into a non personal context.
So befor for ordering, you better ask yourself...How's your faith?
When Truth is Proclaimed those Ensnared will Scoff.......2006-02-06
I dislike labeling any subject as a "Conspiracy" whereas the vision of a wild-eyed fanatic is immediately attached. Sometimes however, that is the best term to use and accurately applies to the New Age. Having spent much time in the ministry, authoring articles worldwide and a website dedicated to unmasking the movement, I can vouch for the authenticity of the content found in this book. The New Ager will only interpret bigotry and narrow-minded philosophies propagated in material such as this. I can understand and do sympathize. However, the truth must be proclaimed so that error may be illuminated. The ancient lord of the lost has used these methodologies unveiled from the beginning of mankind, branded by many different labels. Lucifer has not had to change his strategies, for they work perfectly. The unenlightened whose eyes are veiled, who follow the system, are woefully ignorant of the poison they drink. Enough mother earth 'sugar' is added to disguise the taste of deception. Texe Marrs valiantly exposes the satanic ploy of old and dismantles it one brick at a time.
Intriguing Book.......2002-04-16
His critics dismiss Texe Marrs with the label "Fundamentalist Christian." So be it. But at least he takes a stand. At least he reads the Bible of his faith. At least he applies it to the world around him.
I like Marrs' books. They have the excitement of conspiracy theory. But grounded in Bible study. If you don't believe in the Bible (or are afraid your friends will think you're a nut if you do) you probably won't like his books. But if you're into Bible prophecy, and use the Christian Bible to guide your life, then I think you'll appreciate Marrs' perspective.
I'll admit, I try not to put any Christian writer on a pedestal. God is still the definitive Author. But there's a place for writers who use the Bible to comment on current events. I appreciate the work they do. Especially when it prompts me to go back and read Bible passages they've pointed out.
So, Mr. Marrs: I thank you for taking so much flak, yet still keeping the faith. And I eagerly await your next book.
Scary (should actually be 0 stars).......2001-04-21
I can't believe that there are people out there mindless enough to believe this. For those who do, sorry to disappoint you, there is no conspiracy. The author has no understanding of what "new agers" are like. I was always taught that books held knowledge, imagine my disappointment when I read thru this! If only open mouths came w/open minds...
In short, don't waste your hard earned money. If you absolutely must, then educate yourself on the so called "new age" and have an unbiased opinion.
I Once Believed It... Now I'm Embarrassed.......2000-09-01
I read this about 12 years ago when I was much younger and very trusting in anything the local Christian bookstore provided. I actually fell for the whole thing. I also fell for "88 Reasons Why the Rapture will Happen in 1988" at the same time. So you can imagine the paranoia I was going through (is that a fruit of the Spirit? Yeah, right...).
Bottom line is: I was a clueless sheep, and there are many out there that still are. You have a right to read anything you want (including this stuff), but please use some discernment.

Reply to Mr. Poll.......2006-06-07
Contrary to what Mr. Poll writes in his "review," my book is well documented from rituals and monitors of various Grand Lodges from the United States, Canada, England, Ireland and Scotland. After quoting from these sources, which reveal that Freemasonry is a religion, affirms belief in a deity, and teaches a way to heaven ("The Celestial Lodge Above," for example,), I critique from the Bible. I do indeed recommend Mr. Poll's recommended books, but it is curious that neither these authors nor any other Mason have critically engaged my book.

Three's a charm.......2005-07-02
This is my third Tommy Tenney, this alone should tell you of how powerful his writings are! Thumbs way up Mr. Tenney!
Practical and penetrating!.......2000-11-15
This books isn't about making you "feel" good, it's about dealing with real, practical issues so that God can unleash his power in and through you.
It would be easy to dismiss this book as dealing with "fundamental" or "basic" issues, however, if the book is not only read, but applied, the results would be astounding! The truths dealt with in this book are timeless.
I would recomend this book to anyone who is serious in their walk with God.

Attack on the Human energy field.......2007-01-09
If you are a truth seeker and you want to know how "sin" targets the human body and how to remove it, then look no further.
The church is impotent because 99% of christians are afraid to broaden their understanding of evil's strategy. If you refuse to gain knowlege concerning your enemy's tactics, how can you expect to overcome?
Wiles, are deception dreams used to bind the soul, while the dreamer remains oblivious to the dangers. Deliverance, through spiritual warfare will result in salvation (soterios), which implies the preservation or rescuing of the soul from harm.
The book introduces "stand your ground" and "resist" as commands used to
activate the soul during the battle.
Why do the good die young we ask ourselves? War on the saints, is the answer. It's time to rise up and fight back!
misleading title.......2006-11-17
The title was misleading. This is actually a reprint of War on the Saints, the expurgated version. I think War on the Saints is a valuable book (the full version, that is). I never would have bought this book if I had known I was just getting a copy of a book I already had, but with important sections missing!
demons are real.......2006-03-10
We are told that we should not concentrate on devils and demons. I agree. On the other hand, this author was very aware of their presence and what she has offered is the best she could give from everything that she knew to try and help believers who have been struggling with fake spirituality. You can feel from here book that she is really trying to help.
Right now, a very powerful deception has come to the church as we know it. I would recommend people read this book if they have pains in their head, their body and confusion regarding spiritual things. You may have had demons transmitted through preachers. God doesn't want you to be oppressed by them. You must know their names and cast them out with the authority you have because Christ is in you
