Book Description
Ann Martin was the first to expose the fact that euthanized cats and dogs are common ingredients in many commercial pet foods. For this second edition, the updated and revised version of the grassroots bestseller, she expanded her research to find that pet food can also contain diseased cattle, contaminated meat, moldy grain, roadkill, and rancid fats from restaurants. Also new is a chapter on how cats and dogs are used to test the nutritional claims of pet food ingredients.

Be careful what you feed your pets!.......2007-09-22
I learned what's really in pet food (dry or canned), read it and you'll definitely change your dogs (or cats) diet...
A MUST READ IF YOU HAVE PETS.......2007-08-04
We read the labels on our foods, now we can read and understand the pet food labels. If you don't want to buy the book just yet, do your pet a favor and look up 'animal digest' (a/k/a digest) and 'sodium bentonite'. This book is worth buying.
A must-read, informative book.......2007-03-31
I agree with Sasha's comprehensive review - this is a must read book for ever pet owner. What you discover should get you to stop feeding your pets commercial dog foods.
In my opinion, there are better books on the market that detail how to feed your pets homemade meals. Other experts and vets disagree with the author's aversion to raw meat diets, yet most dogs thrive on such diets. If in doubt, find a holistic vet and work with him or her to transition your pet to an appropriate diet.
Believe it! They are dying!!.......2007-03-11
A must read!! Very informative ,factual ,easy to read and understand. I have read many books on the subject and I am very informed myself so I am confident Ms. Martin has done her homework and knows what she is talking about. With that said I don't agree with everything she says. She does not believe in feeding raw meats and bones. I do understand her points and anyone feeding raw meats and bones and processing it themselves is taking a chance. However there are companies that make patties that are completely safe. With that said I find her book to be well organized going over every detail so completely you will not be left wondering what it was about!!! Take chapter one for instance. "What Goes Into Commercial Pet Food." She covers EVERY ingredient you will find on a pet food label and breaks it down and explains exactly what it is. She does this throughout the book making it so easy to understand. My copy of the book is full of highlights!! Chapter ten "Recipes For Cats And Dogs." Recipes are well researched and are nutritiously complete but I would have liked for there to be more recipes included. All in all this is a great book even though the subject matter is so very heartbreaking.
Food Pets Die For.......2007-03-10
Since I have performance dogs, I was interested to find out about the food I'm feeding. I am appalled to learn about carcasses being included. The only food I have fed is either Canadae or Solid Gold. This book helped confirm that I am doing the right thing for my animals. Have recommended this book to all of my dog friends. It is a must read.
Book Description
The book gives the reader specific information that they can put into immediate practice and it draws the connections between canine nutrition, health, and life stages.
Customer Reviews:
please avoid this book.......2007-06-10
for your dog's own good, please avoid this book. it is unfortunate that just anybody can and does write books these days. there is flat out misinformation in this book. here is just one example: the author recommends feeding grapes to dogs. grapes are listed on the poison list for dogs. there are others too numerous to list.
if you want to know the FACTS about canine nutritional needs, i recommend:
1) 'home prepared dog and cat diets' by donald strombeck, DVM
2) 'canine nutrition' by lowell ackerman, DVM
3) 'small animal clinical nutrition' by hand, thatcher, remillard, roudebush (this is a veterinary text book, you can find it used for a good price at amazon)
these books have good chapters on nutrition:
1) 'dr pitcairn's complete guide to natural health for dogs & cats' by richard pitcairn, DVM
2)) 'natural health bible for dogs & cats' by shawn messonnier, DVM
3) 'dog health & nutrition for dummies' by christine zink, DVM
A Dietary Gem.......2003-10-03
This book is a superb guide to everything you need to know about canine nutrition, from how the digestive system works to what should go into it. Written so that the average reader can easily understand the complex information it contains, this book gives all the facts about nutritional needs and the consequences of a poor diet. Everyone wanting to give their dog a healthier diet can benefit from reading this book and following its advice.

Book Description
The definitive guide to the Australian Shepherd dog. Includes updated information on selection, care, training, grooming, health, herding, agility, showing, other activities, genetics and breeding, as well as a detailed history of the breed. This enormous 3rd edition also includes information on Miniature Australian Shepherds. Hardcover, heavily illustrated, including a color section.
Customer Reviews:
Sticks to breed specifics; want more color photos.......2007-09-28
This book was recommended highly, and I was not disappointed! The information coverage is all that I expected and more. So many dog books digress into information that applies to all dogs, but this one sticks to breed specifics.
There is only one thing I would improve in future editions: more photos in color. However, knowing that many of the historical photos were originally in black & white, I would not edit them out... the idea is merely to add more full-color recent photos, especially showing the full range of Aussie activities, trials, games, etc. One can never see too many beautiful Aussies!
the essential aussie book.......2007-03-23
Loved all the info and the detailed account of where these amazing dogs come from. As I anticipate the arrival of my first Aussie puppy I have read and reread the puppy portions. I love that they included a chapter on the Mini-Aussie which is what I am getting. They are not some freakish version, only developed by breeding some of the finest smaller Aussies. I will keep this book as a reference forever. A fabulous gift for the Aussie owner.
All the basics of the breed, and the show business for Aussies, are thoroughly explained in this 'bible' of detail.......2007-01-07
This is no light coverage from an outsider, but an in-depth survey of the Australian Shepard breed by a third generation breeder who has been involved in their training and upkeep since childhood. And if ALL ABOUT AUSSIES: THE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD A TO Z sounds familiar, that's because it appears here in a brand new 3rd updated edition which offers not just new photos, but a new chapter devoted to Miniature Aussies. All the basics of the breed, and the show business for Aussies, are thoroughly explained in this 'bible' of detail, highly recommended.

This book is an excellent resource for the pet owner, breeder and judge. I would highly recommend this book as it is very thorough.
Big book, but easy reading.......2006-11-05
I bought this book as we were researching the Australian Shepherd breed. I found it very helpful and complete. It was also easy reading. I seemed to finish the book in no time at all.

Book Description
Our connection to the horse is ancient and visceral. These humble creatures are mentioned in the earliest samplings of the written word, which illustrates how the human/equine bond transcends cultural and economic barriers. The horse's integral role in man's evolution, society's development and the growth of civilizations is unquestioned; they have been immortalized by Hollywood, cherished by little girls and mourned by warriors. Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul is filled with inspiring stories of rescue and rehabilitation, heartbreaking losses, dedication and commitment, and positive messages of responsibility and unconditional love. Readers will enjoy uplifting and humorous stories that depict the horse's intelligence, versatility and intuitiveness; they will discover the horse's healing powers, marvel at the graceful performance of a Grand Prix Dressage winner, be awed by the stamina and strength of a working horse and the athletic prowess of a champion racer. In exchange for our love and companionship, horses teach us, heal us, protect us and guide us. Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul is a worthy celebration of a very noble creature.

A Horse to Ride to Your Soul.......2006-12-07
This much needed book offers readers an opportunity to feel better connected to their souls and the primal call within to connect to the beauty, strength, freedom and gentleness of not only horses but the Animal Kingdom in general. If you like or love horses, another book is also inspiring: ON THE TRAIL OF THE PONY EXPRESS by Cherokee author Jerry Ellis. He retraced the 2,000 mile route of the Pony Express Trail by horse, foot, covered wagon and canoe. The non-fiction adventure book is filled with the history and spirit of the Pony Express riders who became part of the great American West.
Good Book.......2006-11-30
I like horses, but I had a hard time getting into this book. Some of the stories were better than others. I think two of my favorite stories were the one about the Horse at Harvard and the one about the horses surrounding and protecting the baby. Most of the stories were good. This is a book about true horse stories.
Most Heartwarming Book.......2006-11-10
Horse people and non-horse people alike will fall in love with "Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul". This book contains seven sections of "Inspirational Stories About Horses and the People Who Love Them". The first section "A Special Bond" contains stories of the connection and friendship between humans and horses. "Horses as Teachers", the second section in the book, is filled with stories of how horses have taught us to take a break from the every day rat race and taught us a lesson or two on just enjoying life. The third section of this Chicken Soup book is called "These Amazing Animals". This section has many stories of the astonishing accomplishments of horses and the things they have helped us to do. Section four, "Horses as Healers", is the one section where you are sure to bawl your eyes out. It contains touching stories of horses helping us get over our fears and overcome any road blocks or rough patches in our lives. The "On Companionship and Commitment" part of the book is much like the first section, focusing on those unique horse-human bonds. "And... They're Off" is a special section dedicated fully to racehorses. Last but most certainly not least, is "Horse... Cetera" where all the other heartwarming stories are placed that just didn't fit into any of the other sections.
"Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul" is even great for people who aren't exactly "Horse Lovers". The book's main focus may be about horses but it is also about inspiration. On every page you are sure to find something that will really help you to live life to the fullest. When you're down in the dumps, "Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul" will help you to see that eventually, things will work out and everything will be okay. So get out there! Live your life like there's no tomorrow! Read "Chicken Soup for the Horse Lover's Soul"!

A Must For All Horse Fanciers.......2006-03-21
Before this collection and Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul, I had never before been remotely interested in the Chicken Soup series. I had assumed they were mostly self-help books, or religious or something. I was pleasently surprised when I read this sweet collection of stories. Quite contrary to my prejudices, it proved to be an inspirational, heart warming look at horses and how they alter our lives for the better. Whether you are an active equestrian, or simply an admirer of these noble animals, Chicken Soup For The Horse Lover's Soul will touch you all the same.

Good Book but Dated.......2007-06-10
Material inside is a bit dated, but it has the right idea to get the job done.
BEST BUY!!.......2007-05-13
BEST BUY!! This was a quick, easy read, but gave me all the tools necessary to crate train. Also, it told me what else I needed to buy so I could go right into the petstore and buy it!!
Helpful, Consise, and a quick and easy read!.......2007-04-07
This book was very helpful. It provided insight on how dogs thing and interact with their environment and gives a very clear and consise way to housebreak your dogs. As someone with older puppies/adults, its nice to have a book that isn't entirely geared toward young puppies. In addition, it offers solutions to many potential problems and has a very helpful FAQ section.
A must-have for the new dog owner.......2007-02-24
I bought this book weeks in advance of getting my new puppy so I would be prepared to train her correctly. This was the best one out of all the training books I bought.
It helps you understand the way a dog thinks. Coming from that approach, it is much easier to get your dog to understand what you want from him/her. This book taught me many things I did not know and it showed me the things I had done incorrectly with past dogs.
I used to think crating dogs was cruel. But it has shown me that just like a baby who is kept in a playpen to be safe from harmful things in the room, a crate is a puppy's safe area -- a den -- enjoyed by them. And crate training I now know is the biggest aid in housebreaking a dog. I'm so glad I got educated on this!
I read it through twice, then bought a copy for my mom who is also getting a pup from the same litter I am. With the help of this book, we are both going to have well trained dogs!
saved me.......2007-01-28
This book was the first one that I found that actually taught me how to train my dog. This is a great book for a new dog owner!
Book Description
In the bestselling spirit of "Why Do Men Have Nipples?" comes this irreverent yet informative look at the myths, behaviors and surprising facts about our canine companions. When you open your home and your heart to a dog, you open a Pandora's box of questions: How can I get him to stop jumping on my friends and family? Why is she eating her own poop and should I try to stop this? In this entertaining book, Dr. Marty Becker, "America's Favorite Vet," and syndicated columnist Gina Spadafori give pet owners the skinny on things they may think about but never dare to ask about dogs, like: How do seeing-eye dogs know when a red light changes to green? Can dogs get sunburned? Are dogs ticklish? Can you re-name your adopted dog if you hate his name? Can dogs cure asthma? Should dogs wear seat belts? Can dogs really hear those silent whistles? Whats the best way to break up a dog fight? Why do dogs get stuck together and face away from each other after mating? (that doesn't look comfortable) Can a grown dog recognize his littermates if he sees them years after being separated? Can you trust someone your dog doesn't like? Do female dogs have "biological clocks"? Why do dogs love to swim but hate to take baths? With its mix of humor and practical information, this book is the perfect gift for dog-lovers.

This book has helped me understand my dog, and I think he is happier too!
A dog is not just a dog..........2007-08-23
This book not only taught us things about our dog, it did it with a laugh. There were so many different things stated in the book that my husband and I were suprised. Where I live sometimes there is a lot of thunder. The book explained to make the noise of the thunder game time so our dog does not get scared. We do that now. It is great. Whe does not get scared and we do not lose that much sleep. If it was not for the book, she would still be a little freaky about thunder type noises. We appreciate the humor of the book and the education it offers.
An informative and sometimes funny look at dogs........2007-08-09
Marty Becker, DVM, combines his encyclopedic knowledge of dogs and a great sense of humor into a book that is both funny and useful in informing us of why dogs do and don't do certain things. The reasons for their different behaviors are explained in simple and easy to understand terms, but in a way that amuses us while it informs us. This book makes a great gift or Christmas present for yourself and the dog lovers in your life.
So that is why they do that........2007-06-08
We loved the book. It explained alot about why our dogs do the darndest things. My husband and I did, however, wonder how anyone could possibly determine their reasoning for certain things, and laughed that the authors probably sat around with a glass of wine and made stuff up. We loved it anyway.
Hilarous AND informative.......2007-05-09
These folks are genius!!
This book is hilarious. You think of all the things your dog does and this gives the reader insight of perhaps why?? you dog does the things they do.
I GIVE THIS A 5 STAR RATING.......get one for all your doggie lover friends!
Book Description
In Horses Don’t Lie, Chris Irwin, one of the most successful horse whisperers in North America, shows us that horses have much to teach us about ourselves when we strive to understand their behavior. Based on more than twenty years of working with, training, and observing horses, Irwin explains why trust and honesty are essential elements in building relationships with horses, and why the sensitivity and awareness that characterize a horse’s perception of the world are qualities we can use to enrich our own lives. “A horse knows what you know,” Irwin reminds us, and in Horses Don’t Lie his message is clear: Horses have a great deal to teach us about how to communicate with empathy and patience—not only with them, but also with each other.

Good Insight.......2007-05-29
This book presented good insight into the horse/human bond and the understanding that can occur between the two. It was helpful especially in the presentation of the point of view of the horse as a prey animal. The author is particularly aware of this viewpoint as he deals with horses and is able to make it clear to the reader. He is amazed, as we are when we read his accounts, of the unusual trust that the horse has in humans, since we are predators. I found that this point of view stuck with me as I worked with my horses after I read the book. I found myself more aware and grateful to my horses for their trust.
Learning More!.......2007-04-26
A friend and fellow horse lover loaned me this book. I found that as I read it I learned more about my equine partners. Being a trainer, horsemanship instructor for people and certified in equine assisted psychotherapy, I am always trying to learn more about horses, people and the interactions between them. I found this book helpful especially in understanding some of the confidence and fear issues that my clients have when it comes to working with their horses. It is not always easy to empathize with them when you have never experienced these same issues. This book gave me a deeper perspective and awareness when it comes to working with both horses and their owners.
I think every new horse owner should read this book before they buy a horse, because there is a lot more to horse ownership than getting the horse to do things physically so that you can ride them. There are plenty of books about the physical and mechanical aspects of training, however many leave out the mental and emotional stablility of the horse and rider. This book is a nice bridge to fill that gap, because it helps us understand how the horse thinks, and why he does what he does.
Thank you Chris for sharing your experiences and insight about the psychology of horses and how they can make us more aware of our own issues. I have quoted from this book in the equine psychology classes that I teach my students.
This an interesting read.......2005-01-31
I recieved this book as a gift and I didn't know what to expect. When I finally got around to reading it, I found it very interesting. I think it's important to know that it's not really a hands-on or practical book.
Easy read, interesting.......2004-09-24
While I'll agree that the book is not full of technical issues, it is an excellent book well worth your time in reading. I read both this one and "Horses never lie" and have found both to be excellent. Not only does it offer a heartwarming viewpoint, it also offers ideas and causes you to look a little deeper into your relationship with your horse. Great read!
Unhappy with content.......2004-09-23
I am glad I checked out from library versus paying money for this book. I kept reading hoping for substance but none existed. No concrete examples for everyday use.

Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson was, oddly enough, pet-free when he decided to write about their key role in his life. Not to worry, though. In a trice he acquired a troika of pups (a purebred and two mongrels) and a couple of kittens. (The pussycats, alas, play only cameo roles.) In Dogs Never Lie About Love, Masson finds plenty of new things to say about canines--not that there hasn't been a plenitude of pupper reportage in the '90s. Or at least he easily articulates what some of us might already think: "Dogs feel more than I do (I am not prepared to speak for other people)," Masson asserts. "They feel more, and they feel more purely and more intensely." Often, however, he seems to be writing less about animals than humans: "In searching for why we are so inhibited compared with dogs, perhaps we can learn to be as direct, as honest, as straightforward, and especially as intense in our feelings as dogs are." But this book is not just a cozy mix of navel gazing (bestial and human) and long, leash-filled walks. Masson offers several proofs that dogs do take the high moral road--one police pooch, for instance, refused to acknowledge his handler's attack command. A good thing, too, since Masson himself would have been the victim! In more ways than one, Dogs Never Lie About Love is a Milk-Bone masterpiece.--Kerry Fried
Book Description
Dogs fill our hearts with love and our minds with wonder, but their emotional lives have remained unexplored since Darwin 125 years ago. Now in
Dogs Never Lie About Love, controversial psychoanalyst Jeffrey Masson brilliantly navigates the rich inner landscape of "our best friends."
As he guides readers through the surprising depth of canine emotional complexity, Jeffrey Masson draws from myth and literature, from scientific studies, and from the stories and observations of dog trainers and dog lovers around the world. But the stars of the book are the author's own three dogs whose delightful and mysterious behavior provides the way to exploring a wide range of subjects--from emotions like gratitude, compassion, loneliness, and disappointment to speculating what dogs dream of and how their powerful sense of smell shapes their perception of reality. As he sweeps aside old prejudices on animal behavior, Masson reaches into a rich universe of dog feeling to its essential core, their "master emotion": love.
Like the dogs he loves, Masson's writing will capture the reader with its playful, mysterious, and serious sides. Its surprising insights provide a new dimension of understanding for dog owners everywhere.
Customer Reviews:
Dogs Are Love.......2007-08-06
Mr. Masson writes beautifully and thoughtfully about dogs, their thoughts, feelings, habits and characteristics. I loved the book and have recommended it to many friends.
Author projects his own feelings onto his pets........2007-07-08
As a dog owner and a person who enjoyes their pets, I was very disappointed with the author and his book. It is grossly obvious he is projecting his own thoughts and feelings upon his canine companions. I believe that dogs and cats have feelings and emotions to some degree - each primate has their own way of expression. Masson carries this much too far and the book gets almost offensive at times. I do know some folks that are excessively in love with their dogs and feel that this is a work of scientific genious (it makes them feel good) - In summary, I believe this book is doing dog owners/lovers a dis-service as any good dog owner and trainer knows that you do not humanize your dog or treat them as a child - you're asking for trouble if you do so (hence all your 'Dog Whisper' type shows). I'm afraid folks will take this book as gospel and humanize their dog (I already know two people who have done so, and their poor canine companions are ruling their household) and then wonder why Fido is acting the way s/he is. It's unfortunate us humans can't read a book for what it is...I bet a dog can.
Another Must Read Book.......2007-02-16
Dogs bring into our lives and bring out in us so many emotions that we either try to hide or never even realize that we have. A wonderfully written book on this subject!!!
SCIENCE OR YOUR OWN EMOTIONS AND EXPERIENCES? I KNOW WHICH IS BETTER!.......2006-12-01
IT sounds like some of these persons who wrote reviews have never had a REAL experience with a critter in their lives. Science is not good at truly proving emotions of an animal!! They do it without themselves being willing to be emotional themselves and expect RIGHT off the results will be the same as they feel. A CLOSED MIND IS AN EMPTY ONE! )
Jeffery Writes Of his own experiences which my writing classes taught me to do. You cannot write about a subject unless you yourself have that knowledge which this man proves he has!...I have five four leged "people" (two independent cats) and they are allot like what this book talks about. My little girl dog has cried with me when I am not well. Not in voice, but she shows how she feels with large sad eyes and pinned back ears and when she is happy her eyes gleam excitment and she literaly dances her joy... He says dogs smell what we cannot see. Well, every time I ask my dogs who is there they all respond not only with ears but the twitching of noses. They are trying to smell what they hear!
He is right on about the great fear of a dog, loneliness and abandoment. My dogs all look at me with "why must we stay behind" and I can clearly see Disapointment on all three faces when I have to leave. It is then I have heard barks and howls when I leave and a neighbor ( who has critters too) told me this will go on for about 20 mins after I am gone. And when I return they are right there barking and sometims howling at my return with big smiles.
I have seen then show embarrassment many times. One dog had thought I threw a ball for him whereas I hid it behind me. He looked everywhere and would not stop looking untill I showed it to him..he then looked very surprised and his ears went down and looked at the other dogs in turn as if loking to see if they saw what happened then sat right where he was looking away till I actually threw the ball. He got a big grin on his face and took of after it. At LEast give this book a chance before condeming it.
lots of insight into how dogs think and act.......2006-08-09
I think the title can be a little misleading. You might expect nice stories about cute doggies. But what you get is an in-depth look at how canines -- domestic and wild -- relate to each other and to humans.
I read this book a few years ago when I'd just gotten a new puppy. The "robodog" training books were not working. This book gave me insight into how dogs think and I was able to relate to my dog and thus teach it to be a good house dog.
To this day he is a great friend to have around the house, and I know how to get him to do what I want because I understand him. I think he understands me too -- a little.

My cat Barney died this Friday. I was very sad. My mother said we could have a funeral for him, and I should think of ten good things about Barney so I could tell them...
But the small boy who loved Barney can only think of nine. Later, while talking with his father, he discovers the tenth -- and begins to understand.

Wonderful Book.......2007-10-11
This is the best book I have ever found for helping a child deal with the death of a pet. This book made me cry, but in a good way. I loved all of Judith Vorst's books. She writes for both children and adults and bases her stories on her own family and life experiences. My children grew up with her books, and we still quote from them 30 years later, because it's just true that "sometimes, even mamas make mistakes," and "some days are like that - even in Australia." I highly recommend all of her books.
the tenth good thing about barney.......2007-07-28
I love this book even though the subject is difficult. I have sent many copies out to my friends who have lost their beloved animals.
Wonderful Book!.......2007-07-12
This is a great book by a great author! I highly recommend this book to comfort a child who experiences death of a pet or loved one. It's a children's book, but I have also given it to adults and they found it comforting.
keep one extra.......2007-05-30
I have kept an extra copy of this book around - to give away when someone loses a pet. I have taught school and worked in bookstores all my life, and this is one of the best books for anyone who would like comfort. Sensitive and caring.
One of My Favorite Books.......2007-04-26
This book, despite being written for children, is probably the world's most touching, sensitive, and well-written story about the loss of a pet. When a little boy's cat dies, he struggles to come to terms with it and leans on his family and best friend for support. By paying attention to the strory and its characters, a child can learn many important things about life. The characters talk a little bit about what happens physically with death and how nobody really knows what happens after it, but that some people believe in an afterlife and others do not. Also, the characters speak about some of the good things surounding death......how the kitty being buried will help to make the flowers grow (again, it doesn't go into any gorey details with it), for example. The book ends with the little boy listing off ten of the good things which he will always reember about the kitty he lost, leaving the reader with the sense that he will never really be 'lost' at all.

GREAT!!.......2007-08-29
A very eye opening book for those that truly care about your pets. If more people would read this there would be alot less pets going to the vet every month for allergies, etc..
A MUST READ!!!!
A Shock To My Senses!!!.......2007-03-12
I was able to get my hands on Ms. O'Driscolls other book which is out of print now,"What Vets Don't Tell You About Vaccines" and I found it admirable she openly admits in this book she doesn't blame vaccinations only for the illness of her pets. She now is factoring in other possibilities. "Shock To The System" is full of information but I did not find it an easy read. I have read many many books on this topic and consider myself well informed. However it was hard to break down this book in layman's terms for easy understanding and comprehension. I did "get it" but I had to re read many topics over again. I do like that she factors in other reasons as to why our pets are dying horrible deaths at such young ages! Such as pet foods, stress and genetics. I'm a firm believer that vaccines are harmful to our pets and any responsible pet owner really needs to research this before handing over their pet to a veterinarian to decide what is best for them. Ms. O'Driscoll does point this out. Maybe your vet doesn't have your pets best interest at heart but rather their pocketbook !! The more I read the more I understand this. This is a good book to have but please do not stop with it. Protect your pet and read on!!!
Are we over vaccinating our pets? Yes!.......2006-05-03
Catherine goes into details with research from vets on the effects of vaccinations on our pets. Do they need annual vaccinations or are they causing our pets to become ill? Are vaccinations a moneymaker? Yes, pets should be examined yearly to insure good health, but vaccinations should not be the reason for this yearly health check. Catherine also encourages the reader to do more research on their own.
Catherine talks about food and stress and their effect on your animal's health. Catherine used to feed exclusively a raw diet, but has since modified that stance to allow that it can be too much 'energy' for some animals and that a cooked or prepared diet may be more appropriate. Rare for those who have made the conversion to admit that it may not be the 'best' for all dogs.
Shock to the System will make you think - not a bad thing!
I'm looking forward to her visit in May 2006 on CSDogBookReview and learning more from her.
Strongly recommended reading to all pet owners .......2006-04-03
Catherine O'Driscoll presents Shock To The System: The Facts About Animal Vaccination, Pet Food And How To Keep Your Pets Healthy as an informed and informative study of the truths of stress and vaccinations and how such things may actually be the cause of illness in our pets. Readers will be enlightened as Shock To The System is one of the greatest analysis of modern realizations in pertinence to animal health. Shock To The System is very strongly recommended reading to all pet owners for its informational and "user friendly" information on all the elements of basic pet care.
