Tempting SEALS novella and some filler.......2007-07-30
I bought this for the Tempting SEALs continuation. Although it was just a novella, I didn't want to miss reading Maggie's story. Lora Leigh continues to heat up the pages even with a much shorter story than Dangerous Games. The rest of the short stories were just some filler material which really didn't do much for me.

The third Tempting SEALs is a novella, "For Maggie's Sake". Maggie, a new widow who was introduced at the end of "Dangerous Games" (Tempting SEALs #2), had once dated Joe Merino, the top DEA agent who led Morganna's team in "Dangerous Games". After months of recently divorced Joe telling Maggie that he would never commit to or love a woman again, she finally took him seriously when he showed up at a society event she was covering for her newspaper with a stacked blonde female stranger on his arm. Maggie hadn't even known he was planning on attending. She got the message, and removed herself completely from his life -- even though he wasn't done with her yet. But she stood fast, trying to protect her broken heart, and six months later she got married, even though she doubted the wisdom of that step when her fiance told her a couple of days before the wedding that Joe Merino was his best friend. She was very lonely, though, and she felt she could come to love the nice man her fiance had portrayed himself as, so she went through with it.
It was the biggest mistake she ever made. She couldn't even leave her husband; she found that out three months into the marriage when she tried to and discovered he had damaging information about her father from his youthful years, and her husband was more than willing to blackmail her into staying with him. Now, two years later, with her husband dead and proven to be a U.S. traitor, she found herself under suspicion of being her husband's accessory -- because he had left journals behind saying that she was. Unfortunately, not only was Maggie completely innocent of all the suspicions being held against her, she also discovered, after a week in Joe's company in a remote safe house, that not only did she still love Joe, but she had never stopped. And Joe was one of the agents who thought she was lying about her lack of involvement with her husband's treacherous activities. To put the icing on the cake, the cartel to whom her husband had been feeding information thought she was lying, too...and they desperately wanted to get their unfriendly hands on her.
Note: Although, as usual, this is a sexually explicit Lora Leigh story, Joe is not into BSDM, unlike Clint in Tempting SEALs #2.

wow i have only just discovered Lora Leigh a couple of weeks ago and have only read 4 of her books, 2 being erotica & 2 from this SEAL series and i have to say i'm sooooooo glad i found her!!! i love the SEAL/Special Forces/Cop action romances with steamy sex & alpha males, and Dangerous Games fitted right in smack bang with EVERYTHING mentioned. I thought Genita Low's Shadowy Assassins series was great but Lora Leigh's SEAL series is that next notch up for the steamy & very exciting sex scenes. It was very much a turn on & fitted very well the alpha male characters. It's not as explicit as her erotica books but definitely way more exciting than many other suspense romance authors out there. The novel length was just right too and the storyline line was everything i expected. Many suspense romance novels tend to focus too much on the suspense plot (ie what the bad guy was thinking & who he was gonna do next etc...)than the relationship between the hero/heorine but Dangerous Games was much about the romance & love aspect with the action as a sideline story. I love that protectiveness all these heros have for their woman. I've also read her newest SEAL book - Hidden Agendas which is also very good but Dangerous Games Clint is so my alpha male hero. Great book had to finish in one sitting and can't wait for Ian & Kira's story. now i just have to go find Reno/Raven story.

So far I've read all but Hidden Agendas in Lora Leigh's Tempting Seals series. So far this is my favorite (but all are wonderful). I enjoyed Clint's story and wished the book was sooooooooooooo much longer. =)
Lora Leigh puts together some hot steamy scenes. No matter what she writes it's a good read.
Clint will remain one of my favorite heros in a romance book.
The hero and heroine in this book had me needing to read more. A page turner from the get go.
If you love to read hot romance this book will give you that.
Best book in the Tempting SEALs series.......2007-07-30
After reading all four currently available stories in the Tempting SEALs series, this is by far the best book in the series. I didn't want to put the book down! Book 4 wasn't quite as engaging as this book, but I look forward to reading book 5 when it becomes available.
Tempting SEALs #2; The series is worthwhile.......2007-07-23
The second Tempting SEALs is a novel, "Dangerous Games". As we learned in Tempting SEALs #1, Raven is the sister of Reno's best friend, Clint. Reno's sister, Morganna, is Raven's best friend. And just like Raven grew up loving Reno, Morganna grew up loving Clint. And Clint loved her back. But Clint had some dark secrets that he shared with no one, and he felt very strongly that he would be very, very bad for Morganna. So once Morganna was a grown woman, Clint concentrated on staying as far away from her as possible, hoping she would find someone else and be happy. Like Reno, alpha-alpha male Clint was a SEAL, and much of the time he spent away from Morganna was spent in the hot spots of the world doing dirty, dangerous work. What he didn't count on was that his little spitfire, Morganna, would join the DEA and get involved in a domestic mission that would eventually catch her up in an unresolved international bust in which Clint was instrumental. In spite of his best efforts, Clint was thrown together with Morganna for an extended period of time -- just the opportunity Morganna had been looking for.
Note: Explicit light BSDM, implied heavier BSDM. The erotic passages are fewer and briefer than in Leigh's Ellora's Cave books, but no less effective or explicit.
Even if you're put off by the BSDM in this book, please try the others: The novella "Reno's Chance" in Honk If You Love Real Men (Tempting SEALs, Book 1), the novella "For Maggie's Sake" in Real Men Do It Better (Tempting SEALs, Book 3), and Hidden Agendas (Tempting SEALs, Book 4).

Initally this book was hard for me to really get into. Which is unsual for me with her books. I like the story line (Seals) and the BDSM/Erotica that I have come to expect from Lora. I think reading the other reviews that there were some discrepancies but when reading the story I am not trying to pick the book apart. I like the hero more than the herione. They have known and loved each other since childhood. He is the hard bodied sexy Seal and she the smart mouth rebellious girl interest. I think the struggle Clint went through was too long and I had to read portions regarding the drug cartel twice to understand who was who. I already have book three and will get four when it comes out. I have been a fan of here work since the Bound Hearts series.

The first Tempting SEALs is the novella "Reno's Chance", and is really quite a wonderful story of a beautifully drawn alpha-alpha U.S. Navy SEAL, Reno, who is attempting to claim his woman, Raven, a woman he's known all her life, but a wary woman who observed her parents' unhappy marriage. Dad was a SEAL (like Reno) and Mom hated it, leading to destructive arguments each time he went out on a mission, missions that grew longer and more frequent as time went by. One day he didn't return -- alive, anyway, and her Mom spiralled into a deep depression. Raven was terrified of losing Reno to death, and her reaction to that terror was to push Reno away; she needed to protect herself. However, Reno had never lost a campaign yet...
Note to those who have read "Dangerous Games" but not yet read "Reno's Chance": Like all Lora Leigh stories, this one is very sexy, and Reno is most definitely an alpha male and is quite dominating in the bedroom. However, Reno, unlike Clint in "Dangerous Games", is not a Dominant, so if BSDM is not your cup of tea, you can safely read this story.
The second Tempting SEALs is Dangerous Games (Tempting SEALs, Book 2); the third is a novella in Real Men Do It Better (Tempting SEALs, Book 3); and the fourth is Hidden Agendas (Tempting SEALs, Book 4).

Erotic romance anthology not for the timid!.......2005-11-02
I bought this book for Lora Leigh (a fave erotic romance author) and Susan Donovan (a fave contemporary romance author) and neither of then let me down. I enjoyed both of their stories. I had never read anything from Carrie Alexander but I enjoyed her story as well. I must say that I was a bit surprised at Ms Britton's story and found myself not enjoying it at all.
First up is Ms Alexander's story of Estrella and Jesse. Estrella has been lusting after a guy working on a road crew in the neighborhood where she works. She's a maid for a wealthy female executive and when her boss goes out of town on business, she borrows her car, her clothes and her apartment in order to lure the hot road crew guy into her bed. Jesse sees through her "car trouble" ploy immediately but decides to see where this whole farce will go. If she's a rich lady looking to play, why not play along? Well, what he finds is a woman full of contradictions and obviously, as he discovers, not what she seemed. I liked this story. Sure, the plot is contrived but what I really liked were Estrella and Jesse. It's rare to find blue collar leads in romances and here we have a Latina and an ex-con who are both trying hard to build better lives for themselves after past mistakes. I found it refreshing, enjoyable and, of course, steamy!
To be honest, I more skimmed than read Ms Britton's story of a woman who had been raped by her fiance who is looking to get her sexual footing back. She returns to her home town and to the guy whose heart she broke in high school. He's the only guy she trusts to help her recover her sexual self. Of course he is all too willing to comply. Yuck. I thought she was incredibly selfish and he put up with way too much. And I feel I must warn readers of her other books who may not expect it, she does push the envelope with a rather torrid girl-on-girl scene. Not for me.
Susan Donovan is one of my fave authors of contemporary romance and this is another of her fun, amusing and sexy stories. Win is a screenwriter who has hit a slump but still has a deadline to meet. Her agent sends her off to his cabin in the woods to get her inspiration back. Fully knowing that some of the appliances may not be in working order and that her neighbor Mac, a capable and hunky Navy SEAL on leave, is nearby to fix anything that goes wrong. Anything. Will he agree to be her muse? Sexy fun!
In Lora Leigh's story Raven has had it bad for Reno for years. They both know it just as she knows he's been crazy about her as well. He never acted on his feelings because she was too young at the time. He joined the Navy, traveled the world, waiting for her to mature. Now he's back, home on leave, and the waiting is over. He and Raven will finally act on the mutual attraction that sizzles between them. But when feelings intensify can Raven get over her fears about his being a SEAL? WANTED: ONE HOT-BLOODED MAN by Pamela Britton - I was unimpressed with this story. I think it should come with a health warning for the unprepared - there is a fairly lurid lesbian scene which I did not appreciate reading. I understood that the person was confused and had been raped. However that was just taking things way too far.
I also did not appreciate the way that the first two authors kept on using lewd references to female body parts.
Read the last two stories they are well worth it. The first two should be consigned to the bin!

Those who collect world coins from the twentieth century will find this catalog an invaluable resource. There are helpful pictures that show the actual coin you are researching. If you collect 20th century world coins this book is for you. I intended audience for this book is people getting into the hobby of coin collecting. As such, it covers a lot of ground in about 400 pages. It is written to be interesting, engaging, fun and informative. It accomplishes these tasks and gives anyone a good grounding in coin collecting. While there are other books I would get a along with this one, this is a wonderful place to start for people of all ages.
Typical Dummies book-For Newbies only.......2006-11-10
Yeah, its a Dummies book, but if you could only see how many of these books I own! This is good for beginners. I needed it to learn the basic terminology of my new hobby. It worked for me, but even a newbie quickly gets beyond the Dummies stage and wants more.

This is a publication of note. Highly informative for the beginner or seasoned collector there is a certain lure for these magnificent looking coins and abundant information on them. I will have to admit that I was certainly intrigued by this publication and spent several hours rummaging through the information contain herein. I have collected coins on and off for years and this was a good place to start and jump back in to that rewarding and enriching hobby.

This book is so interesting to browse through. As a mechanical engineer I really appreciate it, and it comes in handy for getting ideas. Great illustrations and descriptions! I highly recommend it.
Inventor's Smorgasbord.......2007-02-21
I am a farmer who enjoys making machinery. I design my contraptions on paper, then using a CAD program to refine the designs. Having no training in engineering I am frequently using references such as "Machinery's Handbook" and "Moving The Earth" and "Mark's Standard handbook of Mechanical Engineering" and others.
I have to say, that Parmley's book is a treasure trove of information, with heaps of unusual ideas for common compnents such as O-rings, rubber balls, pipe connections, washers and many others, plus hard information about more complex components such as gearboxes, cams, governors etc etc.
This is a big book, with many pages (numbering within each section only), lovely clear diagrams, and enough but not too many tables, formulae and specifications. It can be browsed cover to cover, (as I am doing for the 2nd or 3rd time), open a page at random and be fascinated, or look up specific topics in the excellent index.
I have read the other reviews on this book, and clearly it is a valuable rescource to professionals. I can tell you that it is also a fantastic mine of information to the interested amateur.

This volume contains the most comprehensive list of mechanical components and variations on any given theme that I've seen in one place. Additionally there are significant extensions to computation methods and overviews not found elsewhere. It is an extremely high value book.

The last few favourable reviews cover my thoughts well, but I would like to add that this large volume far exceeded my expectations in terms of both depth of content and quality. This is an amazing value for anyone who works with mechanical components. While its focus is on illustrations of the components themselves, it also includes detailed explanations with graphs, formulae, etc. So it's also a how-to book of sorts. I also purchased a companion volume "Mechanisms and Mechanical Devices Sourcebook", which I also highly recommend.
A terrific book.......2002-02-15
Illustrated Sourcebook of Mechanical Components has lots and lots and lots of line drawings of machinery components. The drawings are clear and simple. Each is accompanied by a well written description, usually a few lines but longer if needed. An interesting book for anyone mechanically inclined. For engineers there are tables and formulas where needed. A great book.

Great Reference, but way to general and out of date.......2007-05-14
THis was one of the more expensive books I bought for info on the ARM architectures, but I'm disappointed, the book covers just the core ARM architecture and is a few years out of date now too. Its a tough book to write, no doubt, there are so many variations on ARM that its unrealistic to expect them all to be coevered, but I'd like to have seen some more specifics. Most ARM imlementations by the multiple vendors ot there put in a bunch of peripherals, I'd like to have seen some attemtp to address those features better.
If you wanted a detailed ARM core reference, it might be the book for you, but bear in mind it doesn;t addres the newer products...

This is a completely adequate reference for the basic ARM architecture, including the Thumb instruction set.
This is a reference book, not an instruction manual - you'll probably be happiest with this book if you already know at least one or two other assembly languages. Given that background, you might like the ARM ISP. It's a very regular RISC. The Thumb subset is even more stripped-down, but lets you pack parts of you code almost twice as densely as usual.
If you've gotten this far, you already know that there are dozens of ARM implementations, with different add-ons and special features. This, of course, can't handle your special circumstance. Still, it's my favortie presentation of the core ARM instruction set.

3 Reasons to buy in spite of the free ARM PDFs.......2003-04-30
Most everything here is in ARM's free databook PDFs. So why buy it? (1) It is cheaper than printing those huge PDFs. (2) It is easier to read. (3) It gives some history and tips that are difficult to find in the PDFs, but help us all write better code.
One complaint: poor binding. Manuals should be bound so they lay flat on a desk and stay open to the page being referenced. The fact that my cheif complaint has nothing to do with the content says volumes about this book.

Covers everything you might need to know about ARM assembly language programming. It has three sections: A. CPU Architecture - ARM instruction set (regular and Thumb) - ARM addressing modes - Examples B. Memory and System Architecture -System Control Coprocessor, MMU, Protection Unit, Caches and Write Buffers C. Vector Floating Point Architecture - Formats, instructions and addressing modes For a more broad and general introduction into ARM Furber's book is excellent and should be purchased first(unless you are just need a reference manual).

This was actually my first book by Lora Leigh. I liked it so much I did a search for her to see what else she has written & I've read a couple of her breed series & her bound series in the last week. I must say this is a lot more tame than her others but it has a stronger plot/action plot. I haven't read the others in the seal series but I plan to to see if they are any better. If you are tired of the boring old helpless females & non-Alpha males then you will love this. Lora tends to make her male characters very Alpha but Kell is not a dominating as most of her books but better than some of the romance novels I have read lately. Also if you are tired of all the flowery romancy words for naughty bits then you will love her work. She does her secenes in a more realistic modern vocabulary and she likes to push the envelope on the every day sex scenes.
Did not meet my expectations.......2007-07-29
I had anxiously awaited this book after reading all the other novelas in the Tempting Seals series. Compared to Dangerous Games, this was an utter disappointment. It was still worth reading to keep up with the general storyline for the related characters, and I am now even more anxiously anticipating the next book in the series. But I had much higher expectations for this book.

This book was soooooooo hot! The characters jump off the page. The hero was just beyond sexy. I will wait patiently for the next Tempting SEALs novel.
Great Book.......2007-07-15
Once again Lora Leigh gives us an alpha male lead that is just too hot for words. The chemistry between Emily (the female lead) and Kell (the alpha hottie) is excellent and the 25 yr old virgin angle was almost believable. The plot is fast paced and intense but the ending left me feeling like I'll never survive the wait for the next installment "Killer Secrets" which isn't schl'd for release until Jan 2008. The love scenes are sizzling but if you buy Ms. Leigh's books for the kinkier stuff like was in the previous Tempting SEALs book "Dangerous Games" and her books written for Ellora's Cave you will be disappointed. While there are several well written and intense love scenes between Emily and Kell this book is more main stream along the lines of Shannon McKenna. All things considered this is one you don't want to miss and I am anxious for the next installment to find out what happens next!
