This book is an easy read that provides excellent information on the care of Bearded Dragons. Before you get your dragon, get this book! It could mean the difference between a happy healthy lizard and a dead one.

Highly Recommended.......2007-05-14
I highly recommend this bearded dragon manual. It is far more detailed and accurate than all of the other bearded books I have bought off of here. It contains information that the other books have forgotten or intentionally excluded and I recommend this book to anyone whose looking for a book on how to take care of a bearded dragon properly.

Will make your beardies happy.......2006-10-06
I bought this book when I first got my beardie. I didn't know anything about these animals except what I had been told by the pet store. This book is a lifesaver. It is wonderful, very educational. It covers general information, how to prepare a proper habitat, how to care for your pet, as well as breeding. There is information on some common health problems and other reptiles closely related to beardies as well. This book has been a real help to me while ensuring that I provide the best for my beardie.

Informative and very helpful for a first-time owner!.......2007-01-10
I found this review to be very helpful. It breaks down different areas, such as feeding, breeding, health, etc in a detailed manner. Very reassuring for a nervous, first-time owner who loves their bearded dragon!
bearded dragons.......2003-12-23
I love bearded dragons and have been doing research on them for a long time. Many of my friends and family have beardies and i hope to get one soon.My friend has this book and it provides alot of useful informacion.
Improper Information.......2002-09-04
I hate to be the only one who has a problem with this book, but I can't keep my mouth shut. This book was poorly written at best, containing information that was erroneous and possibly detrimental to the health of pet beardies. The author relied on what I basically refer to as "guesswork" rather than actual documented bearded dragon information. Just enough information to be ignorant is a dangerous thing. If you value your pet beardie, don't invest in this book. If you are interested in a book with a lot of good (correct) information, I would recommend: "The Bearded Dragon Manual" by Phillippe De Vosjoli/Robert Mailloux/et al. It is by far the most comprehensive guide to the care of bearded dragons at all stages of growth and development.
A Great book!.......2001-04-13
I recently bought a Bearded Dragon and bought several books about this lizard. I have to say that this book is one of the best. It is written in a very personal way (unlike many other "take care of your pet books" and I really like that. It is also very informative and has a lot of great images. The book tells you everything you have to know if you are a Bearded Dragon owner or wants to buy one - how to choose a Bearded Dragon, the terrarium, terrarium set up, breeding, the right food etc. I especially found the "food part" informative and with a lot of nice pictures. I highly recommend this book! My BD appreciated it! :-)

Response to "A Reader From Sweden".......2002-04-13
what do you expect...this book was written by a man who breeds bearded dragons and it is a book about bearded dragons. It is a wonderful book and tells you everything you need to know about keeping a bearded dragon whether you are breeding them or not. I personally own a 1 year old dragon, and this has been like the bible to me. Whenever something is wrong i consult this book and it will always have the answer you need. All the other books are written by herpotologists who have never actually owned, bred, or loved a bearded dragon. This book is amazingly helpful and comes from a person who knows what he is doing. I would recommend it to anyone who is planning on owning and loving a bearded dragon.
Not a very useful book.......2001-11-28
I don't like this book at all, the authors only writes about keeping the bearded dragons in big outdoor vivariums, and not about having just 1-3 bearded dragons as pets.
Very little information about feeding, housing and everything you really want to know. The authors also doesn't seem to think about the bearded dragons as pets, to cuddle with and have fun with, but only as something you can breed.
I almonst never read or look in this book, and I regret that I bought it.
I rekommend Liz Palikas book "Your Bearded Dragon's Life" and the book "The guide to a owning a BD" by David Zoffer and Tom Mazorlig instead!
Excellent.......2001-08-14
This is a very through book on the care and maintenance of Bearded Dragons. It is excellent for the beginer lizard keeper. I highly recommend this book if you want to take good care of your Bearded Dragon(s).It contains information on their diet, vivarium design, and other very useful information. It is one of the most reliable reptile books I have read.

Short overview.......2006-03-03
This book is by no means complete. It gives a very brief overview of the animal and where it came from. It didn't really include anything about how to properly care for the dragon.
very disappointed.......2005-07-28
This book had no information about what to feed bearded dragons. It was not specific. Just said vegetables. Did not say what kind, how much. It had no information about the proper habitat. I would not recommend this book to anyone. It was not very informative. I would appreciate a refund.
Informative and easy to read care guide for Bearded Dragons.......2005-07-20
The book was easy to read and concise. It offered the information one needs to maintain these animals and keep them healthy, without launching into the seemingly mandatory 45 page narrative about the state of the global ecology and what you or I can do to help. I have seen the infomercials,... I don't need to get lectured in a book which I paid for.
The information seems in line with all the other literature I have collected on these animals,... however to be frank the majority of information contained is also readily available for free on the internet. Having said that, the author does go beyond the precursory information one finds online to further explain the ins and outs. It is nice to get the "how and why" as well.
This should be the only source a beginner will need to properly set up a habitat for, maintain, and breed bearded dragons.
Bearded Dragon: Facts & Advice on Care and Breeding.......2002-07-09
This is a wonderful book for anyone who has recently acquired or are thinking of acquiring a bearded dragon. Whatever your questions are...this book has the answers. I recommend that this be the first book you purchase.
A great little book!.......2000-04-11
I happened across this gem in my local pet store the other week and have really taken a shine to it. The quality of the photographs is first class and the information is presented in a really easy to follow manner (as well as being very thorough). Although there are no earth-shattering revelations to be found between the covers, I heartily recommend this book to all Bearded Dragon owners- it's a definite 'keeper'!

To the reader in British Columbia.......2001-01-17
Bearded Dragons RETAIN SPERM. So, they almost ALWAYS multi-clutch...you CANNOT control or limit the number of clutches to 1 a year. Matter of fact, 3 is about average from a single mating session, and if housed together all year, female beardies can have up to 7 or even 9 clutches. (Best to house the male seperately to control the breeding to the extent possible.) I suggest you re-read the book, and if it doesn't have this information, that you throw it out and get The General Care and Maintenance of Bearded Dragons by Vosjoli and Mailloux.
great.......1999-09-08
I thought it had lots of info just not everything i neede
lots of very sound advice, wonderful section on behaviors !.......1998-10-15
There is a lot of great advice in this book as well as great photos an format. The sections on breeding and behavior are especially good. Being an owner of a Bearded Dragon I found the information acurate and consice. I was however a little concerned to read in the section on breeding that the females could have up to three clutches a season. I felt that tis should be controlled to one clutch per year NO MORE!! Pregnancy takes a lot out of even the healthiest dragons.

This book has been and will continue to be very helpful to my son (10) in the care of his new bearded dragon. The language is simple and complete. I highly recommend this book.

With great care and attention they have combined all available information with their many years experience in the keeping and breeding of these animals. They have created a book that will be of great assistance to any hobby herpetologist wishing to become involved with these interesting animals. Many color photographs taken in the wild in Australia and Asia.

Not what I expected.......2007-06-12
I purchased this book in order to get additional information on captive care for my frilled dragon. This book may be valuable for the scientific community but it has VERY little information on raising frilled dragons in captivity. In fact, since the book is translated from German, the book refers the reader to another book for captive care but it is also in German.
