Eating Frogs!.......2007-09-15
I learned of this book from a friend who has the older version of it. I glanced through her copy and noticed her notes. She said you have got to get this, it will organize your life. I purchased the 2nd edition version, read the book through, then reread it marking the tasks that I feel will help me find the missing hours in a day, so things get accomplished, instead of brushed under the rug. Sometimes it just seems to be amazing that it is end of the day, the week or even the month and it seems that nothing or not a whole lot seemed to be accomplished. I work in Direct Sales so it helps there also. It help me find the time to take care of the household, spend time with each family member and take care of their needs, and still be able to spend time with clients to be able to service them better allowing them to pass recommendations of me around. I also picked up his book Goals!, keeping them both close at hand so I can glance through and get that boost of energy again, with the "Yes I Can" attitude. "Eat That Frog", will get you out of procrastinating and working with goals, while "Goals!", will get you into setting goals, keeping them and accomplishing them, it is such a win-win!

"Last Friday...Was I Scared!--My Boss Almost Fired Me!".......2007-08-26
Do you procrastinate on important tasks? Do you wait until the last minute to do the most important of things both personally and on your job? If you are like 90% of all people, you have become prey to the monster of procrastination. Procrastination has nothing to do with laziness or lack of ambition, but has everything to do with the "fear of overwhelm". As humans, we can all become victims of overwhelm, but at last there is a solution. The absolute best book on "procrastination busting" I have ever read is Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time by Brian Tracy. After reading and following the advice Mr. Tracy lays out in this remarkable book, you will have conquered procrastination forever! Yes, I said--forever!! Remember, unless you conquer procrastination you CANNOT succeed at anything. Buy this book, and say goodbye to procrastination for good.
Other great titles by Brian Tracy are:
Maximum Achievement: Strategies and Skills That Will Unlock Your Hidden Powers to Succeed
The Ultimate Goals Program: How To Get Everything You Want Faster Than You Thought Possible
Focal Point: A Proven System to Simplify Your Life, Double Your Productivity, and Achieve All Your Goals
Thank you, Mr. Tracy for helping us to rid ourselves of the demon of procrastination for good!
This book will change you! .......2007-08-22
I think of all of Brian Tracy's books-- this is my favorite.
I teach "day management" over time management. So our opinions differ a bit on this. Brian has you prioritize the things you must do each day-- eating the biggest ugliest frog first. This is two fold. It eliminates procrastination and dread. I tell clients to do the thing they dread the most first. Why spend the day dreading that awful phone call? Anxiety builds and so does the discomfort. We are saying the same thing different ways.
Where we differ is that because I teach sales and self promotion-- you can find any frog uglier than your marketing responsibilities. My clients create their marketing plan, with daily action items they commit to doing-- no matter the number of frogs out there.
The energy over the visual of eating a frog is so emotional, it sticks. That is what makes this such a great book. I use the language with my clients, and I'll often hail an accomplishment accredited to "I just sat down and ate the frog".
This book will change your attitude on procrastination. I didn't believe it, because although most people tell me I do more than anyone they know-- I can dig my heels in as stubbornly as another. But when I feel that wave coming on-- I just "eat the frog".
Eat That Frog.......2007-08-17
A quick read with clear, concise, actionable steps to improve time management. A good resource for any field.

Five Frogs on a Log is a practical and easy-to-absorb manual for corporate leaders facing those intense periods of total transformation that seem--for better or for worse--to define today's business world. Written by Mark L. Feldman and Michael F. Spratt, both partners and managing directors of PricewaterhouseCoooper's global M&A consulting division, the book aims to help managers through the "jolts, curves, and emotional potholes" that inevitably accompany such large-scale restructuring. "The high-priced bankers and lawyers exit with the close," they write, "leaving management to confront the challenge of producing results that justify the price, the added risk, and/or the significant disruption to current operations. To complicate matters, they face what amounts to a new company and a set of unexpected demands that can easily divert them from capturing the value that drove the deal." With help from insightful illustrations and quotations from those who have been there, Feldman and Spratt build upon their basic theory--that speed is of the essence in corporate upheavals of this type--by offering pragmatic solutions for the myriad problems that invariably arise. --Howard Rothman
Book Description
A riddle:
Five frogs are sitting on a log.
Four decide to jump off. How many are left?
Answer: Five
Why?
Because there's a difference between deciding and doing.
Written by Mark L. Feldman and Michael F. Spratt of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Five Frogs on a Log offers readers an entertaining and no-nonsense field guide to the mergers and acquisitions jungle, packed with insight and instruction for executing corporate change and capturing shareholder value. Whether you're buying another company or acquiring a new vision of the future, this book proffers an unconventional perspective and a practical, readily accessible set of solutions to the single greatest challenge facing today's managers: executing rapid transitions ion mergers, acquisitions and gut wrenching change.
Designed for corporate managers and CEOs caught up in the whirlwind of change, every chapter provides accessible ideas and wisdom for navigating the most demanding business transitions. The authors offer a unique hands-on perspective based on their work with top Fortune 500 firms. As they state:
"Increasingly, the companies that win are those that learn faster, act quicker and adapt sooner. They will compress time by making and executing early, informed decisions about economic value creation, ruthless prioritization and focused resource allocation. They will use these decisions to take early firm stands on management deployment, organization structure and culture. Their actions will increasingly be linked to long-term, sustained economic value creation."
The advice and expertise offered in this book can be used to solve a range of operational problems from speeding up new product development to merging two businesses; from changing company culture to repositioning a business in a while new marketplace.
Whatever the challenges and opportunities facing you, your company, your industry, Five Frogs on a Log will move you from deciding to doing.
Customer Reviews:
Definitely Worth Reading.......2007-03-24
My organization is in the process of a major change and reorganization. I found this book to be right on target in identifying the challenges and hurdles that we faced as well as providing some effective solutions to ensure that we do not make the same mistakes that others before us have made. I believe this is an excellent book and a must read for anyone within the organization, not just CEOs.
good for frogs.......2006-07-11
Feldman and Spratt advise lots of CEOs of large corporations as part of their work for PricewaterhouseCoopers (a mergerized mouthful if there ever was one), and those consulting habits show. The book is anecdotal and clever without being practical or useful, even if you're actually contemplating a merger. You will, however, learn the riddle of the five frogs on a log, which in the interest of saving time, we offer here: Five frogs are sitting on a log. Four decide to jump off. How many are left? Five. Because there's a difference between deciding and doing. "Execution," the authors tell us, "is always more difficult than it seems."
Here's the lesson: Smart advice is timeless. If you do want a quick take on making effective decisions, then consider the very short chapter "The Effective Decision" in Peter Drucker's Managing the Non-profit Corporation (HarperCollins, 1990). Drucker writes sharply about the evils of reaching consensus too quickly, the dangers of not doing your homework, and the fact that decision making always involves risk taking. He also observes that "far too many decisions remain pious intentions." Even more memorable than the frog story.
Very thought provoking.......2002-06-27
This book is an excellent view of the M&A process from a very different angle. Many books cover the mechanics of the process, but this one looks at the outcomes for human beings - our most important assets. I would recommend it highly.
Worth reading.......2002-04-30
Having been on the receiving end of several poorly-executed acquisitions, I much appreciated the authors' vivid descriptions of merger complexity - and their straightforward advice on how to avoid it. Definitely worth reading.
The best of them all.......2002-04-29
My company has been making acquisitions for over twenty years and I think we've read all the merger books in print. "Five Frogs" is the winner when it comes to candid, practical and intuitive advice on how to accelerate through the post-deal transition without destroying shareholder value. Its a fast and easy read that makes its points clearly and with great examples that force you to think intelligently about decisions that must be made and executed quickly. The two chapters on internal and external communications planning and execution alone are worth the price. Our results from following the authors'advice on post-deal priority setting were both powerful and surprisingly painless. We're about to go through the biggest merger in our history and every member of every transition team in both companies now has a copy of "Five Frogs." It's become our merger bible. Also, if you get a chance to hear Feldman speak on the subject, don't miss it. He's an articulate and entertaining speaker who's seen it all. Very motivating.

Frog and Toad agreed: it was a perfect day for a swim. And Frog was kind enough not to look at Toad in his bathing suit, per Toad's request. But when the swimming was over, a crowd had gathered to see Toad in his funny-looking suit, and neither Frog nor Toad could make them leave.
The endearing pair hop along through five enchanting stories, looking for lost buttons, greeting the spring, and waiting for mail. Their genuine care for each other makes Frog and Toad two of the finest amphibious role models around. Young readers will chuckle with Frog as they watch Toad's silly efforts to make up a story. And they will applaud Toad as he finally wakes up after hibernating all winter. The fifth story will warm the hearts of any would-be pen pal--or anyone who has ever known what it's like to have a true-blue (or green) friend.
Arnold Lobel's comfortable brown and green illustrations invite and delight every reader, setting the tone for warm, funny stories about friendship. A Caldecott Honor Book and finalist for the National Book Award for Children's Literature, this installment of Lobel's classic Frog and Toad series is another essential addition to any youngster's shelf. If you need even more of Frog and Toad, don't miss Frog and Toad Together, Frog and Toad All Year, and Days with Frog and Toad. (Ages 4 to 8) --Emilie Coulter

needy public school teacher.......2007-09-08
The books were in excellent condition and arrived earlier than expected. I had checked all local used bookstores. They were not available because of the high demand in our district. Similar books were the same price as Amazon's including shipment. I will not be going to used bookstores again. Amazon saved me time, money & gas!
Great start to a fine series.......2007-04-10
The perfect book to start your beginning reader off on and a must have for amphibian lovers of all ages, these stories are beautifully illustrated and each holds the key to a simple truth. Chiefly about friendship, Frog and Toad are able to make the best of their situations by accepting and utilizing each other's differences. The simple prose flows across the artful pages, and after reading this first one your child is sure to want them all.

Great illustrations, simply written, and always teaches a good lesson.
Wonderful to read and share with your children or grandchildren.
hilarious.......2007-03-06
I just finished reading this story to my 4 year old daughter and I have to say I was crying from laughing so hard. The stories are very amusing and easy to read and follow. They will be your childs new favorite for sure! I came back online to order more from the series.
Good for reading and discussion.......2006-12-21
This easy to read book presents stories with basic truths similar to fables but there is no stated moral. It is helpful for children to be reminded of acceptance and friendship among characters who have individual differences. Frog is usually cheerful, comforting, and helpful. He is understanding of Toad who is not as creative and is a bit self-conscious and not as outgoing. Parents and teachers can use the book for insightful discussions.

Customer Reviews:
Front to Back.......2007-07-20
This book is excellent. It is about life in general and Kermit mixes enough humor that you don't want to put the book down. Buy Harry Potter and you will end up reading Kermit first!!
Kermit rocks!!.......2007-04-03
I don't usually read this kind of book, but I decided to pick up Kermit's masterpiece in motivation and I have not regretted doing so. This delightful book is all about ridiculous optimism. Yes, you heard me right -- ridiculous optimism.
Quoting Kermit: If this book can drive you - and those around you - crazy with ridiculous optimism, then it has done its job. Who knows, maybe by reading these lessons from my life, you'll be inspired to drop your tail, leave your swamp, and set out on a journey that's just as amazing and wonderful as mine.
'Before You Leap' carries two parts. Part 1 is about his life: life of having over 2,353 family members; how he grew up from a little tadpole, then attending school, and then getting his legs; his search for significance and fame; how he got into showbiz and thereafter forming his own team of superstar performers; and his exciting relationship with the amorous Miss Piggy. Part 1 is rather hilarious.
Part 2 gets on to the more serious stuff for its readers. It's now lessons for your life and carries 14 croak-licious chapters. Serious though it may be, it still contains oodles of humor. Kermit interviewed his muppet gang on issues like money, strategies for work, strategies for school, exploring why bad things happen to everyone even to good frogs, and many more. There are lots of Kermit-tips too.
Are you ready for such an experience, an experience of ridiculous optimism? If you are, you so must read this book. Do it with an open mind and an open heart.
And if all of these are not enough, the photos of Kermit and gang will make your day. He is indeed a frog of many expressions. The pictures are simply marvelous and each one truly inspires me. He's close to being a perfect model and so are his muppet buddies!
The Best Book That I Have Read In My Entire Life.......2007-02-13
If you are a muppet lover or don't even know who the heck they are you should still read this book. It is a great advice giving book. It also comes with the hilarity that comes naturally from the muppets. It shares all the great life leesons that come to us in no other way. The muppets make everything more interesting. You should definently put this book on your reading list!
Love you always Kermit!.......2007-01-12
My gf who was divorced last year and a couple of weeks from a tummy tuck rec'd this book from me as a bday gift. I am happy to say it was the only thing she read over her recovery period and she loved it.
Top-Notch For Teens.......2007-01-05
Yes, I said teens, and adults, too! This is NOT a children's book, and the wisdom and tips herein are priceless. We are the people who grew up with Kermit, who trust him, love him, and patiently wait for him to either dump the pig or marry her.
The photos are superlative, the sagest bits are given in very funny "sketches," and the author himself is so endearing.
BUY IT! You won't be sorry.

A Fun Read!.......2007-10-01
I am a speech pathologist and use this as my intro to oral motor exercises. The kids (preschoolers 2-5) love it!
Great illustrations, comical ending, kids love it.......2007-07-27
This pop-up is the perfect size for me to use as a read-aloud in library story-times. The illustrations are very colorful and engaging, the pop-ups really stand out. There is no plot, it's just a frog telling what he eats and asking other animals what they eat, but kids enjoy the comical ending (it helps if you do voices when you read). This book is somewhat repetitive and is not very long, so it's really best for younger children, ages 3-5, but my seven-year-old still enjoys it.
3-D Frog Book.......2007-07-07
Love this book! I have used it for over 10 years in my classroom.
The children love the pages seeming to "jump out" at them as each new creature appears.
Too cute to pass up.......2007-05-30
Great little book and fun for all ages (even mom and dad will think so) love the ending
A Splash of a book!.......2007-03-26
"I'm a wide mouthed frog and I eat flies"
This is a great pop-up book that appeals to toddlers through to preschoolers. It does not have a lot of words, but it is funny and engaging. The pop up pictures are fun to look at and the pages in my hardcover version are a light cardboard making it nice and sturdy.
You won't be dissapointed.

"Tuesday evening, around eight"--a deceptively mundane beginning for what proves to be a thrilling, miraculous, and surreal amphibian journey. Slowly and quietly on this particular Tuesday, a few fat frogs begin hovering over a swamp, riding lily pads like magic carpets. Clearly satisfied and comfortable, the floating frogs are as serene as little green buddhas. Gradually, the flying fleet grows in momentum and number, sailing over the countryside and into an unsuspecting town. These frogs know how to have fun--startling the occasional bird, waving webbed feet at late-night snack-eaters, and even changing the channels on a sleeping granny's television. As day breaks, the frogs lose their lily pads, head back to the pond, and wait impatiently for their next scheduled departure.
Tuesday won the 1992 Caldecott Medal and, among other honors, was named as an ALA Notable Children's Book. The critical acclaim will come as no surprise to anyone who opens the pages of this beautiful and humorous book. With hardly any words (except those noting the time), David Wiesner creates a wondrous romp as silent as the middle of the night. Using the rich purples, blues, and greens of late evening, Wiesner draws readers into the warm, incandescent world of frog flight. "Read" this wordless wonder to children and savor it for yourself as well. Chances are, you and the youngsters will both find yourselves poised at the window, hoping to catch a few airborne frogs in the act. (Ages 4 and older)
Book Description
The unpredictable events of a particular Tuesday unroll before the reader with the precision and clarity of a silent movie. A Caldecott Medal book.

Excellent.......2007-07-24
These stories are classics, very well read by the author Arnold Lobel. My four-year-old loves them and demands them over and over.
perfect for long rides.......2007-07-05
My three year old loves frog and toad, so I recently purchased the CD's for a trip. They were so entertaining to my son that he asked to listen to them nonstop. Sometimes he followed along in his book; sometimes he just listened. He can now "read" the stories verbatum, because he has listened to them so many times.
We love Frog and Toad stories.......2007-05-17
My son listens intently to this CD. His teacher in school plays these during nap time for those who choose not to sleep. He is very interested in all the stories even though he has heard them numerous times. We love this CD.
Great stories for smart kids. .......2006-10-24
The expression on the faces of my three and five year old as they puzzle, smile and nod over the adventures of Frog and Toad is something I think I'll carry with me for a long time. The kids are fully engaged with the audio CD, and can now follow along with the printed words when I read the same stories to them from the Frog and Toad books.
While Arnold Lobel has a calm, kid friendly reading voice, he never panders or talks down to the kids. I like that. I also appreciate the gentle, absurd wit that Lobel weaves into these stories. I'm not kidding when I say that I could see the skeleton of a Seinfeld plot in some of these stories. Makes it easier for an adult in the car to listen to, that's for sure.
My children are enchanted, amused and QUIET!.......2006-03-10
I purchased this CD prior to a family roadtrip last spring, having no prior exposure to Arnold Lobel, or Frog & Toad. My 6-year old son and 4-year old daughter were quick converts. They easily follow the stories, laugh at the absurdities of the characters' sweet friendship. They constantly requested it to be played in the car whenever we were out and about. Since then, we have also purchased "Mouse Tales" on CD, which they also adore. Intelligent, engaging, & fun.

Customer Reviews:
Great read aloud stories........2007-05-24
My 2 year old loves these books. They are the first books that she has sat through that have more text than pictures. We also bought the CDs and she listens to that at night as part of her bedtime routine.
My favorite books as a young reader........2007-05-15
The Frog and Toad books stand the test of time. Still funny, engaging, original and adorable 30 years later. I buy them for all my friends' children now. Be sure to read the story "Cookies". :)))
Classic Storytelling.......2007-04-10
Lobel was a tremendous artist and storyteller and the Frog and Toad stories were among his best work. The simple stories of friendship in this collection are great reading material for beginning readers or to be used as bedtime stories, and I've never read them to a child who wasn't fascinated by the vividly animorphed creatures portrayed. A great book for any kid 1 to 8, and the parent will most likely enjoy it too.

great on two levels--for beginning readers and for toddlers.......2006-11-27
For your beginning readers, these heartwarming stories of a child-like friendship between Frog and Toad are excellent, a fine complement to the Little Bear series, for example.
For the toddler being read to, these books also provide great delight. This daddy loves to read Toad's voice as a deep, slightly daft Englishman, while Frog's voice is, naturally, an outrageous French one. (It works--try it!) The stories are charming, affirm praiseworthy values (above all friendship), and are short enough to gauge your evening ritual precisely.
Highly recommended.
Frog Rules, or should that be toad?.......2006-03-03
This is a first class collection of stories for children to read, or be read to. There is a wry, understated humour that delights both child and parent.

Einstein wondered what it was like to be a beam of light, but the rest of us are happy wondering what it's like to be a flea or a brachiosaurus. David M. Schwartz's engaging picture book is for the rest of us. With the help of James Warhola's colorful, exaggerated illustrations, we learn about the cool things we could do if we were various nonhuman types of creatures. If you high-jumped like a flea, for example, you could jump straight into the Statue of Liberty's torch. If you ate like a shrew, you could devour over 700 hamburgers a day! Each comparison is explained scientifically in a comically illustrated appendix, where young readers will find questions designed to elicit further comparing and calculating. The best surprise by far is finding out what would happen if you grew as fast in your first nine months of life as you did in the nine months before you were born. (Ages 3 to 8) --Richard Farr
Book Description
Did you know that a frog can jump 20 times its body weight? Or that an ant can lift an object 50 times its weight? By applying these ratios and proportions to their own bodies, readers will discover what they could do if they had the amazing abilities of animals.
Customer Reviews:
Interesting Animal Information!.......2006-06-15
This book was very interesting. It tells you how a frog can jump twenty times it's body length and how far you could jump if you could hop like a frog. It also tells you how much weight you could lift if you were as strong as an ant. And much more.
I read this book with my mom and did the math calculations with my dad. It was a fun way to learn about insects, reptiles and animals.
I think teachers should use this book to help their students learn about math.
Wonderful.......2003-06-17
I am a high school math teacher and I use this book to help my freshmen learn about ratios and proportions. They use the proportions to calculate how much they could swallow, how far they could jump, etc. They're astonished at the results!
This Is An Amazing Book.......2001-12-07
This book offers a look at the wonders of the natural world by comparing the capabilities of many different animals and birds in human terms. The concept, together with the large and vivid illustrations hooked me from the beginning. This book really challenges a child to think and causes an adult to marvel at God's creations. "If you hopped like a frog...you could jump from home plate to first base in one mighty leap!...If you grew as fast in your first nine months as you did in the nine months before you were born...you would have been...heavier than 2 1/2 million elephants!" Just imagine that!
If You Hopped Like a Frog.......2000-04-06
This book was so enjoyable! The pictures were great! It gave you facts, and then expanded on those facts to give you information how it would affect you. As a teacher, I could use this book as an introduction and then have my students make a spin-off class book.

The five simple chapters in Arnold Lobel's Days with Frog and Toad say more about the rewards of friendship than any adult tome ever could. Frog and Toad, the amiable amphibian duo, fly kites, clean house, and tell ghost stories together. And, in a surprisingly sophisticated, yet perfectly easy-to-grasp, segment, they even learn about the value of being alone. Frog is ever-so-slightly more sagacious than Toad; his gentle and supportive way with his chum shows that personal variances don't have to get in the way of friendship. On the contrary: vive la différence! Arnold Lobel's illustrations in warm frog and toad tones create the perfect atmosphere for this wise and touching early reader, an ALA Notable Children's Book.
Lobel has created four "Frog and Toad" stories for the "I Can Read" books, an immensely popular series with large type, abundant illustrations, and ample spacing that first launched with Else Holmelund Minarik's Little Bear. Fans of the foot-flapping friends won't want to miss Frog and Toad Are Friends (a Caldecott Honor book); Frog and Toad Together (a Newbery Honor book); and Frog and Toad All Year (an ALA Notable Children's Book). Children will be overjoyed to spend an evening--or days on end--with these affectionate friends. (Ages 4 to 8). --Emilie Coulter

The Beloved Days with Frog and Toad.......2007-08-26
My daughter's nursery is decked out in Frogs, so the discovery of these books made them books we had to consider. They are fun and the illustrations are grest. At eleven months she is too young to read them herself, but we read them to her - and she enjoys them. The stories are simple with a central theme - do good for others, treat your friends with respect, help your firends when they need help, laugh, and aporach life with adventure. These are great virtues to instill in young minds. If the books were made in cardboard stock, Teah would be even more happy with them - as it is she frequently grabs one of them when it's time for her bedtime story - and great bedtime stories they are. By the time she starts to read she will know the stories by heart, but that's ok - fond memeories of bedtime stories like these should help her build a lifelong interest in reading on her own.
good moral lessons, easy to read.......2007-05-17
Having read several of the Frog and Toad series, we've purchased many of Lobel's other books. My son (almost 4) is able to read several of the words in this book. It is a set of interesting stories with sentence structure that really supports a beginning reader. Frog and Toad come from different viewpoints but often talk out miscommunications in their dialogue. Their adventures often lead to deeper discussions with my son like why it is a positive thing to spend time alone and how trying to accomplish something may take several tries. I'd recommend all of the Frog and Toad books.
Excellent Ending to a Series.......2007-04-10
Lobel artfully portrays the value of the differences between friends with simplicity in the last of the "Frog and Toad" series, with superbly funny stories and brilliant illustrations throughout. The perfect bedtime story or a great series to start a child's love of reading, this last book is a must have and maybe the best in the whole bunch. Toadally awesome!

Frog and Toad are an amazing buy.......2006-06-15
I have a 3 year old daughter that LOVES this series. The art is very "old" -but in a good way. She likes the story "The Shivers" most of all. You can't beat this series for the price, or the lessons learned.

You should read Frog and Toad because they can teach kids a lot of lessons. For example, if you are a kid and you want to learn to be nice to a friend then Days with Frog and Toad is a really good book for you. You'll also learn that sometimes friends aren't nice to each other. So, if you're the kind of reader who wants to learn about relationships then this is a book for you to read.

Do you want to be a hard working person like Toad and don't want to be lazy? Then Days with Frog and Toad is the book for you. The lesson is that you always should do your chores.
In the beginning, Toad looked around and all his stuff was on the floor. Instead of picking it up, he said,"I'll do it tomorrow. Today I will take life easy". Will he learn his lesson about doing his chores?
If you're a kid who doesn't like doing chores then this is the book for you. I would give this book five stars because it was a good book.
