Great Reference.......2002-12-29
I bought this when we first moved to the West, so I would sound like a local! It's a great reference book, and explains the differences between vaqueros, cowboys, cowpunchers, and buckaroos. A fun read.

Cute book for the novice cowboy and cowgirl--entertaining reading for the "real thing". Well written and technically correct--great pictures and illustrations. Obviously written by one who knows the cowboy way. Highly recommended!

One cool kitty-cat.......2007-09-25
I always fancied Hello Kitty, and my 2-year-old daughter loves cats. So I knew she'd be a big fan of the colorful, whimsical images in this hardcover book. (She also has a habit of tearing colorful pages out of books, but so far I've been able to keep this one intact!) This is really more of a "big girl's" book because of the silly haikus that correspond with the images, but it sure is fun to flip through. Le chat en France? Mais oui!
Not bad....................2007-01-09
Charming and very 'fluffy', its what you would expect ! Aimed more for the younger Kitty fan, its basically nothing more than a selection of cute kitty photos, but good fun.

Book Description
People who have faced death often speak of their lives flashing before their lives. Something much different happened to dolphin trainer Richard O'Barry when one of the dolphins that played Flipper on television died of stress in his arms. He realized that most of his career as an animal trainer had been a mistake and that dolphins have as much right to freedom as humans. He vowed not to rest until he freed every last dolphin that could be returned to the wild successfully. This is a true story that will move not only animal lovers but everyone who loves a well-told tale. Ric O'Barry had everything-money, flashy cars, pretty women-but it wasn't enough to keep his conscience at bay. He began to understand that dolphins were easy to train because of their great intelligence, not his great talent, and keeping them in captivity was cruel and morally wrong. While research and entertainment are important to human life, they are not worth the cost to these beautiful and gentle animals.O'Barry was arrested trying to free a dolphin, but that didn't stop him, and he now devotes his life to untraining dolphins and returning them to their natural habitats. Once the pride of the billion-dollar dolphin captivity industry, he has since become its nemesis.

Captive dolphins need to be free.......2007-09-01
I think this book is well worth reading. I am a person that use to love marine parks, however my view has changed. Much is do to this book, plus my own research on the web. I have found out that most dolphins & whales in captivity don't live very long. There are exceptions like Miami Seaquarium's Lolita the killer whale. She is old for a captive whale, however she lives in a tank without other orcas & the tank is way too small, among other things. Do your own investigation on the web about her terrible living conditions. Ric O'Barry has been trying to do the right thing for dolphins which is freedom! He was Flipper's trainer. I don't agree with some of Ric's personal beliefs, however he is right on about dolphins. How you can support marine parks after reading this book would be extremely difficult. I have been on whale watches and if done properly, I feel are a better way to see God's creation. Ric says the best thing regarding marine parks is "Don't Buy a ticket". These dolphins are not fed enough so that they will do tricks. Read the book, then you decide!
Flipper.......2006-04-02
This is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. It should be read by anyone who loves animals and who believes in animal-rights. Besides that it is an interesting autobiographical sketch of Richard O'Barry and gives you a closer glimpse of people like Dr. John Lilly. It also gives one an idea of how films like Flipper are made and what becomes of the poor dolphins in the end.
Dolphins are way too smart to be entertaining Katie Couric.......2002-04-08
I read the other reviews, 2 of them raved about the book and one sounds like it was written by a dolphin catcher with a Phd... I read this book and then went to the Flipper Productions Dolphin Encounter near Nassau in the Bahamas, even encountering at least one of the dolphins mentioned in the book. Every celebrity you could think of had their picture in the photo shop with dolphins. The Phd was right about the book jumping around too much. It would have been nice for continuity to hear more about his wife and how her role in his quest for example after we are introduced to her in the begining and then she is hardly mentioned through the rest of the book. This said I have to say that he is right about dolphins in captivity. I had a blast, selfishly, swimming with, dancing with, kissing and hugging dolphins- I can't wait to visit again... but it quickly becomes obvious that they are way to intelligent to be doing tricks for tourists or for Katie Couric for fish. And they are better off being free to swim in the open ocean than being trapped in penned in areas for "research" and "education".
A COMPASSIONATE LOOK AT DOLPHINS.......2000-06-16
A wonderfully compassionate look at dolphins in captivity from an ex-industry insider; inspiring story that makes you want to change the world for the better.
A look at marine animals in captivity........1999-05-19
Although it has been several years since I read this book, it made a lasting impression on how I feel towards captivity of marine and other non-domestic animals. In addition, it opened my eyes to animal neglect and, by my defination, cruelty. For those that love animals, it's worth finding!

This book is a great find for all rabbit lovers........1998-09-11
For rabbit lovers and collectors of rabbit related items, this is a great little book. It pictures a wide variety of art pieces based on rabbit lore and just plain bunny cuteness.
A few of the more graphic hunting type pictures could have been left out, but otherwise it is a good book for browsing. Just don't let your rabbits get a hold of it, for it is very chewable.

Cuddly Kitty.......2007-01-10
An excellent soft cloth book for babies on the go. It is a size that babies can handle and soft to cuddle with. The added attraction of it being able to be attached to anything makes it a multitasked cloth book.

Why Not to Buy This Book.......2006-11-29
My son is 8 years old and loves dinosaurs. He found many mistakes in this book. For example, the largest dinosaur is incorrect, many of the pictures show dinosaurs with horns that did not have them, and the descriptions of many of the dinosaurs are inaccurate. This book was not well researched. My son's quote is "it should be considered nonfiction."
Great for preschoolers.......2005-11-30
My 5 year old daughter is just becoming interested in dinosaurs and we borrowed a couple of books from the library. This book was perfect for her attention span and interests. It had a little about everything but not too much to be over whelming. The tecxt was to the point and the pictures bold and imaginative.
It was factual and not too gruesome as some books can be with depictions of death and gore. Yes the last page is out of date, but this can be easily discussed with your child.
We liked the book so much I am going to buy it for her.
Great Introduction to Dinosaurs.......2000-05-18
This book is a great way to introduce young children to dinosaurs. It covers a large cross-section of dinosaur information without getting too scientific or technical for youngsters. Especially helpful to parents or young readers are the phonetic pronunciations of the dinosaur names. The illustrations are great and they will stimulate the imagination! It has become our family reference book for dinosaurs. Even though Amazon rates the reading level for this book as 9 - 12, our five year old has enjoyed it immensely. We like the fact that the author is not afraid to say that we don't know everything about how the dinosaurs lived or what happened to them. In fact, this has been very thought provoking and has led to many family discussions. We highly recommend it.
Pretty pictures but bad science........1999-02-14
At first glance this appears to be a great book for introducing youngsters to the subject of dinosaurs. Although the book does have nice illustrations and a recent publication date (1998), I would caution against buying this book for your kids. The last chapter (page), entitled 'Bye Bye Dinosaurs', is poorly researched. Even though the book claims to have used a 'technical consultant', the author writes that the dinosaurs died mysteriously (maybe it was a change in climate or habitat she suggests). This is a very poor statement. Very few scientists would deny the fact that a large comet (or asteroid) collided with the Earth 65 million years ago. Most believe that the result was the extinction of many species including the dinosaurs. Since I am against teaching uninformed science (especially to kids), I can not recommend this book as a worthwile purchase (unless you cut out the last page!).
