J.E. Lowery Ministries Book Review of "A Pale Horse Cometh".......2002-03-11
Dani Dubre' and Rod Mauck have captured in "A Pale Horse Cometh" a reality that we are living in today. They have done their research well! By combining bio-terrorism, the CIA, Middle East unease, and Biblical Prophecy...they have created a fiction novel that will keep you in your seat waiting to find out what happens next!! I am not big on fiction books but this one keep me wanting more and more. "A Pale Horse Cometh" is what we are living today all over the world, many Bible scholars agree that the end times will involve bio, chemical and nuclear weapons. This is a mind opening book that everyone interested in Prophecy should read!

A PAGE-TURNER.......2002-03-04
Dani Dubre and Rod Mauck have written a book that is both powerful and poignant. It's a story of intrigue, love, faith and prophetic and horrific world events.
The main character, Jessie Baldwin, a disillusioned former CIA agent is "chosen" by God, through his Messenger, to face her demons from the past and the mission that brings her and the man she once loved, an Israeli spymaster with the Mossad, to the realization of God's love and forgiveness.
This race-against-time thriller plays out against the deadly background of the Middle East when Saddam Hussein unleashes his biological weapon of mass destruction. The reader is witness to the impending doom and suffering and dying of God's innocents. The story's pace and suspense never lets up, but it is also a story with a strong message of faith and salvation, of the indomitability of the human spirit and the saving grace of God. I heartily recommend this book.

Using the same down-to-earth style that has made his eventing clinics so popular, Wofford uses his book to instruct on what to look for when selecting a mount and when choosing the right tack and equipment.

The Eventer's Bible.......2006-11-27
This book is excellent, I can't tell you how many times I've referred back to it. Contains tips for training horse and rider in all three phases, and common problems that most riders will certainly face sometime in their career. Lots of great photographs to show you the right (and sometimes not so right) way to do things. Advice on conditioning (which I've found to be very helpful) and gymnastics at the back of the book. If you event, get this book.
Jim Wofford is a god.......2005-02-23
I have had the incredible opporunity to work with this man in person. He is THE most informative, patient, helpful trainer I have ever worked with. Both of his books, "Training the Three-Day Event Horse and Rider" and "Gymnastics", are must-reads for any equestrian. I can only hope he writes more!!
Love it, love it, love it!.......2002-08-01
I am just a beginner, but this book inspired me to try hard to event. I loved the gymnastics in the back!
Great Concepts and lots of details.......2000-09-06
I was SO happy to finally read a book involving cross country with so much emphasis on good basics and snaffle bits. I am so sick of hearing trainers advocating bigger bits to control your horse. Mr. Wofford advocates better TRAINING to control your horse - what a concept. This book covers quite a range of topics; from choosing an event horse, dressage, how the horse sees jumps vs. how we see jumps, cross country, jumping, conditioning, cross country position and more. I think this is a great book!
Clinics and the Book.......2000-06-25
In 1984 I began riding in Jimmy's clinics and have accumulated numerous hours riding, watching and listening. During this time I took copious notes on his comments; measurements of his gymnastics; watched other riders and listened to Jimmy's critiques. "Training-the-Three-Day Event Horse" IS Jimmy Wofford. His concise, straitforward teaching comes through in his book just as though you are there listening to him. If I could only have one book, it would be this one. I recommend it to my students, I give it as gifts and I wouldn't leave home without it.

Nobody can accuse James Carville, the strategist for Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign, of hiding his feelings. "You know something? I don't like Ken Starr. I don't like one damn thing about him. I don't like his politics. I don't like his sanctimony. I don't like his self-piety. I don't like the people he runs with...." And longtime Carville observers know that his dislike's been brewing since Starr was appointed to the independent prosecutor's office back in 1994 by a crony of ultraconservative Senator Jesse Helms to look into alleged financial misconduct on the part of Bill and Hillary Clinton in the Whitewater case.
Carville piles on the evidence for his argument that Starr, with his partisan politics and numerous conflicts of interest, should never have been let anywhere near Whitewater, let alone allowed to pry into the personal relationship that Clinton had with Monica Lewinsky in the mid-'90s. And he stands by his man, commenting, "In my mind, an indiscretion here and an indiscretion there will never amount to a tenth of cruelty." Even those who can't stand Carville's relentless style--who else would have the nerve to ask "What the heck is [Bill Bennett] talking about? Has he completely lost his mind?"--will be hard-pressed to refute the multiple charges of abuse of prosecutorial power. And this is dang sure the only book about the Clinton controversies that includes a mouthwaterin' recipe for brisket.
Book Description
EXCLUSIVE: CARVILLE RESPONDS TO THE STARR REPORT
...And the Horse He Rode In On gives the first full accounting of what's really behind the longest-running, most expensive dirty trick in politics: Ken Starr's investigation.
Download Description
James Carville has always been known to be a man of a few opinions. But no one has been as outspoken as James Carville about Kenneth Starr's highly questionable, sex-obsessed investigation of President Clinton, After four years and over $40 million dollars, the only thing that is clear about Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr's investigation is that it represents a historic and unconscionable violation of fairness and justice fueled by the right-wing, an unfair inquiry rife with shadowy deals, unreliable witnesses, and conflicts of interest.

"Eternal Justice weighs the sins of the hot blooded and the cold hearted on different scales".......2006-12-28
James Carville argues, quite successfully, that Ken Starr was never an "independent" prosecutor. He makes this argument in a way that makes you cry for our government. Now, Carville is not an independent evaluator in any sense of the word, but to read the shenanigans of Starr and his cronies and colleagues is depressing.
Who cries for our country? Carville notes the line from Dante's The Inferno, "Eternal Justice weighs the sins of the hot blooded and the cold hearted on different scales."
I'm waiting for this weighing.
I find it exremely interesting... and upsetting... .......2006-08-11
Mr. Carville is a great ENTERTAINING writer - of interesting one-sided opinions and partial facts taken so much out of context that it verges on fiction. But it is an interesting read, nonetheless, and that is the book's appeal. I did laugh, but not because I found it funny, or that I could agree with most parts of the book itself, but because it was more along the lines of "out there" like the 1970's Saturday Night episodes, totally satirical, but not meant to be taken serious. I can see where the book is endearing to that 'fringe' portion of what I'm calling the stolen Democratic Party. Really, is the author actually blaming Ken Starr for Clinton choosing to have an affair with an intern barely older than his own daughter? Yet the author at one moment treats the situation as if it was not an important item to any of the citizens - but it was important to many people my age that our President lied. The author fails to mention that "I did ... not... sleep... with... that... woman..." came straight from our President's mouth. Whitewater... ahh, the smoking gun? Suicides, paperless-trails and innuendo that leads to not enough facts. I could write a book that points just as much the other way using the same tactics that this author does, but then again, I like to play fair, even in political books. The author is correct on one thing - we taxpayers DID spend too much money on the problems of the Clintons while they were in the Whitehouse -- but don't blame that on the Ken Starr - blame it on me: I voted for Clinton and if he wasn't in office - there wouldn't have been Whitewater, Monica-gate, etc. Lots of problems for one President... But this book makes money for the author - and he spins a wonderfully witty tale from the parts of truth he chooses to use!
Engagin' Pagin' from the Ragin' Cajun.......2004-12-01
The Clinton impeachment saga is long over, but the wounds to our republic have not healed. Given the benefit of hindsight, Ken Starr's role as "independent" counsel is seeming less like bad luck, and more like the first salvo in a struggle to restructure the American political system without the inconvenience of holding elections.
James Carville uses his Cajun wit and straight talk to get to the heart of who Ken Starr really is. Written in 1998, "And the Horse He Rode In On" uncovers Starr's alliances with far-right Republican operatives. The book also shows up Starr's $40 million Whitewater "investigation" for what it was: a politically-motivated fishing expedition to bring down President Bill Clinton. That the Republican right came within a whisker of succeeding, ignoring the "high crimes and misdemeanors" impeachment standard of the Constitution, should scare the crud out of any American patriot -- right, left or middle.
It should shock all Americans that Starr's work uncovered nothing. Whitewater, Filegate, Travelgate and Troopergate turned up no illegal behavior on the part of the Clintons, but gave Starr and his fellow travelers plenty of chances for smear and innuendo. Carville chronicles the way Starr leaked information in order to coerce witnesses to testify. Carville also follows the incredible system of payoffs that kept Whitewater alive far beyond its natural life.
Keep this book around to remind you of what happens when biased political dogs are let loose against duly elected officials.
Bulldog Carville at his best.......2004-11-28
James Carville does not like Ken Starr. It would be safe to say he loathes Ken Starr, perhaps even outright hates Ken Starr. One thing's for certain, Ken Starr's relentless, and often irrelevant, witch-hunt against President Bill Clinton did nothing to improve Carville's opinion of Ken Starr. President Clinton was not only James Carville's boss, (Carville being an expert political analyst) he was (and still is) a good friend. President Clinton was also supposed to only be being investigated by Ken Starr for some supposedly shady business maneuvers with the Whitewater real estate deal that at its simplest was a bad deal that lost some people a lot of money. However, time and evidence proved that nothing illegal occurred. Yet, the Republican operatives, who were bitter at losing the Whitehouse to a southern upstart, couldn't accept that. So, they applied pressure to Starr (a supposed `Independent' Counsel) to find something, anything, they could pin on Clinton. Starr embraced the challenge with a near religious zeal and somehow managed expand his investigation to such a degree that an inquiry into a real estate deal somehow became a referendum on Clinton's sexual habits, particularly his affair with intern Monica Lewinksy. This really pissed of James Carville (and that crude word is justified for how Carville felt). Carville felt the need to address Starr's wild goose chase and "....And the Horse he Rode in On" is his response.
Don't let Carville's vitriol, southern drawl, and bulldog mentality dissuade you. He pulls back the curtain the wizard and reveals Starr to be the fraud that many think he is. Carville addresses, point by point, all the supposed reasons that Starr is using for turning a real estate investigation into pornography that would make Larry Flynt proud. Carville fiercely attacks Starr's tactics, his theories, his justifications, his `evidence', and punches a mack-truck size hole in middle of one of the biggest individual abuses of the justice system. Opponents of Clinton aren't likely to find much to like in this book, but those who were angered by this whole ridiculous process will feel grateful to Carville for giving a voice to many of the emotions they had. All that, plus a mouth-watering recipe for brisket, makes "...And the Horse he Rode in One" a valuable read.
Starr Wars.......2004-02-19
If you are looking at this book then you probably know exactly what this book is about and the tone the author takes. You are probably a Clinton supporter and are looking for a book that gives you some nice facts to reinforce your dislike of old Mr. Starr. Well that is exactly what this book offers, 160 pages of anti Starr. It warmed my heart that there is an author out there that can give as good as he gets and fights back for all the negative anti Clinton smears we have lived with over the years. Is the book full of facts, well they are facts that I want to hear. Are they the whole story? Well probably not, these types of books do not tend to present the full picture, just the picture I want to see, but you probably already know that.
This book delivered what I wanted, anti Starr info. It reinforced my opinion that the whole Star thing was just one long political dirty tricks campaign that old Tricky Dick would have been proud of. I would have liked the author to have also focused some on the Republicans that were full steam ahead on the whole Starr thing and all the bogus themes they came up with to investigate. What is sad is that so much money and time was spent on nothing, but uneducated hatred with the funny part being that most Americans now view the investigation as just a dirty political motivated hate campaign. Overall the book is fun and has a fight back attitude about it. It will only take a few hours to read so you do not feel so bad given the book is more fast food then steak dinner.

Book Description
Parker has never wanted to run Townsend Acres, but when Brad makes him an offer he can't refuse...
Parker Townsend has always had one passion: eventing. And as he works with a legendary trainer in England, it seems as if Parker's dreams are about to come true. But Parker's scheming father, Brad, wants Parker to give up his "foolish" dreams of competing in the Olympics to manage Townsend Acres when Brad retires.
Parker isn't tempted . . . until Brad buys two horses whose lineages can be traced back to the legendary Welton line! Horses like these would improve Parker's chances of competing in the Olympics, and staying in Kentucky would mean more time with Christina. In his head, Parker knows that he'll be better off if he continues with his training . . . but his heart has other ideas.
Be sure to check out the photograph and bio of the legendary Welton Romance inside!
Customer Reviews:
good bookby Horsegal.......2006-02-18
This book was OK.Not the best book but still good. The horses sound so great.I wish I could go in the book and ride them!!!!!it's nice parker and Christina got back together. They're a cute couple.I wish Melanie and Kevin would get back together. And I wish Melanie had more books.Oh well .The TB series are great books.Only a few are not that good. But still this book is totally worth your money. Every single TB book is.Don't let anyone let you think there bad books.BECAUSE THERE NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!.HAPPY READING!!!!!!!!!
Love it.......2005-03-15
This is a really great book. I like how Brad tries to pressure Parker into running Townsend Acres, but I have a question about the cover. Why is Parker putting a western saddle on a horse? That horse is either Star or Foxy, and since neither of them are western horses...
This was a really great book. PLEEEEEEEEEASE DON'T STOP THE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!
Not the best..........2005-01-23
I am not overly fond of the Parker books as it is and this one was a prime example of why that is. It has none of the elements that make this series what it is. Parker's character is inconsistant, Brad's predicatable. The Brushes With Fame cliche was annoying. I mean, Welton Romance? *coughs*
Anyway, for diehard collectors of the series only! Don't read this if you are looking for a true tase of the series. I reccomend the orginal books by Joanna Campbell. (1-14)
Besides the fact that I wasn't overly pleased with this book, I will still buy them! Please don't stop this series. It's been a constant part of my life for 11 years! visit forum.whitebrookfarm.com if you'd like to help us save the TB series!
it was ok.......2004-08-31
This book was okay, but I found it sort of boring. I mean it was all about Parker really. The reason I read these books is because they're suppose to be about horses... NOT people. Anyhow I did not care for this book, but I would recommend it to collecter's of these books and for others as well because we all have different oppinions.
P.S. I would also recommend the Phantom Stallion books by Terri Farley. They ride western though.. so I know some people won't like that, but you might want to try them just the same
Bad Brad.......2004-04-26
Great book but-
It Says Samantha is pregnat and then bridal dreams? Is she pregnat with or with outs Tor's child. Is she still getting married even thoguh she is pregant?
