Dr Pitcairns natural health.......2007-10-05
This is absolutely a must book. Giving dogs prescribed medications often involves side affects which shorten their lives. Being able to find out about natural products that can help them is great. It can not only lenghten their lives, but also cost less in the long run. I highly reccomend this book to all dog owners.
great resource.......2007-10-01
this is a great resource book. It has lots of background info on dog foods and so much info on great supplements. It could be made easier with breakdowns or charts to guide you for quicker reference, because I find myself having to flip back and forth a lot. There is definitely lots of info and it has to be read more than once. I think the recipes are sound and easy to make. Although I can't cook for my dogs all the time, at least I can do it whenever they are ill or recovering from some ailment or surgery to ensure that their bodies are strong when they need to heal. This book makes it manageable to do that.
A great resource.......2007-09-23
This book is a great resource for pet owners. I find the health-care section of the book very useful. I have modified the recipes to accomodate the inherited allery issues my dog has. Modifying the recipes is a very involved process as the substituion of products recommended and appropriate amounts required for balanced nutrition can be a hassle to figure out, especially, if one's pet was allergic to multiple products.
This is a great book for pet owners who want to try homemade cooking and alternative medicine for their pets.
Excellent overall but diet not suited for all .......2007-09-01
There is more than one way to feed a healthy, non-commercial diet. I recommend buying both Dr. Pitcairn's book and Andi Brown's book, The Whole Piet Diet, to see which diet your animal(s) prefer. I have three pets, two 13-yr. old cats and one 1 1/2-yr old terrier. The cats had been eating holistic Blue Buffalo dry food along with some canned Friskies. The terrier was eating holistic Blue Buffalo dry food along with some raw meat, veggies, yogurt, etc. I recently learned that dry food is difficult for pets to digest and is terribly drying and causes digestive problems like vomiting, dandruff, etc. The Friskies is just plain junk food so I decided that I was going to feed healthier fare and bought both books (Dr. Pitcairn wrote the foreword in Andi's book). While Dr. Pitcairn promotes primarily raw meats with cooked whole grains, Andi Brown promotes cooked stews (grains included for dogs only, not cats). After experimentation, I found that my dog and one cat prefer Dr. Pitcairn's recipes and my second cat prefers Spot's Stew (from Andi's book). When I made the switch, I only started feeding the recipes without supplements to the cats. It took 15 days for them to eat consistently, then I started adding the supplements in small amounts and gradually built up to the daily recommended amounts. Tip: my cats preferred Andi's supplements over Dr. Pitcairn's (especially the essential fatty acids in the form of oils). All of my pets are doing very well on the diets but only because I was persistent in finding what worked best for each pet. I will never feed dry food again!
It's a shame..........2007-08-29
...that an obviously experienced and well researched vetrinarian would recommend a diet that includes grain as one of the staples of the diet. Anyone who does even a minor amount of research about the special diet needs of a dog would easily find that dogs do not possess the proper enzymes to break down grain properly and can lead to either minor or serious allergic reactions. Dogs should not eat any type of grain at any time. Anyone who reads this book, do not take it as gospel. Please do more in-depth research before you make any solid decisions on your dogs diet.
Besides that fault, there are only a few recipies included in this rather long book. I heard very good things about this book before I bought it and was thoroughly disappointed after I read it. Its hard to give this book anything else but a negative review.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

There's the Scottish Terrier ("an earth dog used in hunting the fox and the brocke"), the Boston Terrier ("a lively, highly intelligent, smooth coated, short-headed, compactly built, short- tailed, well balanced dog"), or the Great Dane ("one of the most elegant and distinguished varieties of giant-type dog"). In fact, there are 146 AKC-recognized breeds profiled within the pages of the Complete Dog Book, and the pictures and text provide great bowser browsing. The breed descriptions help you choose among the hounds, terriers, toys, and working breeds, the herders, guard dogs, and sporting breeds. Measurements help determine which dogs will best fit your abode (Chesapeake Bay Retrievers measure 21 to 26 inches high at the shoulder, Chinese Cresteds are a mere 11 to 13 inches off the ground, while the Irish Wolfhound stands 30 to 32 inches tall), breed temperaments help you choose your ideal pet, and show criteria help you know what you're looking for when you actually start to shop for a pup. In the meantime, there are interesting stories about breed origins, and a useful glossary of dog terms, while the chapters on grooming, training, and Canine Health and First Aid will come in handy once you've brought your new dog home. --Stephanie Gold

for serious dog professionals or amateurs wanting more.......2007-05-15
A good and complete dog reference. Pet owners will love a cruise through all the potential breeds to love and those seriously taking in dog shows will enjoy a complete reference.
AKC bible.......2007-03-29
This is the official publication of The American Kennel Club(AKC)so it stands to reason that it is quite elaborate and authorative; afterall, this is the 20th edition. If you want specific information about all the different breeds than this book is for you. Naturally the book only recognizes the breeds that are AKC and believe me, there are many others out there but yet to be officially recognized. For breeders, the information is valuable as all the official chacteristics and faults are mentioned for each part of the body. For general pets of a specific breed, and not show dogs the information is equally as valuable . For prospective buyers of a specific breed this book will help you to make sure the dog you get get doesn't have any serious faults of the breed characteristics. Overall this book is quite useful for anyone who owns a dog . Dog lovers will enjoy the book for general browsing to learn all about the other breeds. This is a great reference tool to have when viewing the different dog shows. I found the historical information rather fascinating. It is fun to learn about the different breeds since many are rarely seen in the general population. If you love dogs you will love this book.
A Pet Groomers Must-Have.......2007-01-27
The AKC Complete Dog Book has been the singlemost valuable reference that I have used in 36 years of pet grooming. It has provided a solid foundation of how each breed is supposed to look, as well as the breed standard on which that appearance is based. It is the first book I reach for when learning or teaching grooming of a new breed. It also serves as a way to show pet owners an example of how their breed is presented on which we can base modifications for their individual pet. I would not groom without this book!
New cover, (almost) same contents........2007-01-25
Don't get me wrong, this book has ALOT of in-depth information about your favorite AKC breeds, but they could have atleast changed the pictures of the breeds through the book....they left the same ones they have been using forever (most everyone I could see) the only difference between this book and the previous edition is the addition of a few breeds recently accepted and different color pictures of the breeds in the special pages in the middle of the book. It's a good book, I'm not sorry that I bought it, but come on....be a little more diverse if you are going to print another adition...get creative!

Book Description
Here, at last, is a revised and expanded edition of this award-winning breeders' reference. Successful Dog Breeding is a book for the first-time breeder and longtime fancier alike, no matter what the breed. Down-to-earth practical information is given to cover virtually every contingency associated with breeding and whelping. Presented in a humorous format, even the most serious information is made easier to understand.
Chris Walkowicz and Bonnie Wilcox, D.V.M., are both veteran dog fanciers who bring a wealth of personal and professional experience to every chapter. Covering topics from planning the breeding (should I or shouldn't I?) to problems encountered in breeding, delivery and neonatal care, the authors offer viable solutions to innumerable problems, whether old or new. Two highly extensive appendices on breed idiosyncrasies, compiled from correspondence with longtime fanciers as well as from research from veterinary journals, complete the abundance of information offered here. All of this is complemented by original drawings by the well-known canine artist Mary Jung.
A Howell Dog Book of Distinction
Customer Reviews:
Successful Dog Breeding: the complete handbook of canine midwifery.......2007-03-14
There are some great points and some lacking points made in the book. I appreciated the section where it lists the breeds of dogs and then corresponds the numbers that relate to the diseases and problems of that particular breed. It helps in determining whether the breed's problems are ones that you feel comfortable handling or trying to correct. The book needs more photos, drawings, or sketches as it assumes a higher degree of knowledge on the readers part. I would recommend the book but not as a sole source but only as an additional source as it is not complete and doesn't answer or address many other questions or problems.
Dog Breeding.......2007-01-06
This book is recommended to individuals who have some knowledge of pet breeding and delivery. The chapter on setting up necessary supplies was extremely pleasant. However, professional breeders may find this book a bit flat with only a modicum of additional information they could add to their repetoire.
Basic and non updated - boring.......2006-11-10
This book was written 1n 1993.... even though the basics remain the same, there are other books on the subjet like the ones written by Myra Savant-Harris that are 100% more updated.
Awesome Resource.......2006-04-18
This book gives step by step and detailed instructions on how to handle the many things that can go wrong in whelping a litter. I found it a comforting resource to have around so I know I am as well prepared as I can be for what may come. A must have for any breeder, hobby or professional.
Successful Dog Breeding: The Complete Handbook of Canine Midwifery.......2006-03-22
Great book to follow Breeding for Dummies. Fills in blanks and is very easy to understand. Dwells a little to much on 'breeding is not for everyone' and talking about spaying a neutering. But we all get that and we all hear that and the only reason we buy this book is to learn to breed correctly ie. what to expect in our dog and what to look for in a mate and then how to handle whelping. But overall, a very good book.

Book Description
Breeding a Litter: The Complete Book of Prenatal and Postnatal Care is the most up-to-date and inclusive guide to breeding, whelping and placing puppies. There is a focus on making the most of the "breeding experience" in order to produce puppies who are physically and emotionally sound and go on to enjoy life and enrich the lives of the humans around them. This book contains the all-important basic knowledge necessary to serve as a foundation for the reality of firsthand experience. A clear and commonsense format shows everyone who is thinking about breeding a litter how to create the best possible environment for dogs, puppies and owners alike.
Beyond the basics, author Beth J. Finder Harris gives detailed information on selecting breeding stock, neonatal care, puppy development, social conditioning, and also fully addresses the aspects of breeders' responsibilities, contracts and puppy care instructions.
A Howell Dog Book of Distinction
Customer Reviews:
Basic and non updated.......2006-11-10
This book was written 1n 1993.... even though the basics remain the same, there are other books on the subjet like the ones written by Myra Savant-Harris that are 100% more updated.
Love It.......2003-10-15
I love this book. Great information wether you have a litter on the ground or are just thinking about it. I always reference this book. It's great to have around for everyday dog life as well. There's a lot of detail and I've had 2 litters and this book and The Joy of Breeding your Own Show dog were my staples! I couldn't have been more prepared without them!
Can I get My Money Back??.......2001-05-04
I found the author's views on early puppy socialization to be wrongheaded and even dangerous. With a large potentially aggressive breed the responsble breeder begins handling pups AT BIRTH. The daily frequent contact with pups enables them to handle stress and bond with humans from the beginning of life. It is a very poor breeder who does not handle those babies every day or even several times a day. Cutting nails, etc. begins later but holding, cuddles, breathing on, petting must happen at once. Worst book I've ever read on breeding and puppy socialization!
Breeding a Litter.......2000-06-08
I have been trying desperately to find a book that would give me complete and detailed information as far as breeding a litter. This was not easy to do, but Breeding a Litter is a wonderful answer all book. For the person just starting out in Dog Breeding this is a wonderful source. If you have a question this book definitly has the answer. Great Book!
Breeding A Litter by Beth Harris.......2000-01-26
Beth's book is comprehensive yet basic. It will take the novice through the fundamentals step by step, including everything from: choosing sires/dams, how to assist with mating, building a whelping box, diseases, genetics, and more. Legal contract examples are provided as well.
As a breeder of Brittanys, we have found this book to simply outstanding.

Customer Reviews:
Very informative (4.25 *s).......2007-08-24
Very informative concerning dogs in general, but especially all aspects of breeding and a dog's reproductive system, both male and female. More specifically, covered are heat cycles, mating, pregnancy, nutrition, delivery, lactation, puppy neo-natal care, and weaning. Complications and illnesses at each stage are also covered, as well as when a vet should be consulted. The cataloging of diseases and complications can get a little tedious.
One is left with the impression that there is a good deal to know about the breeding process with considerable possibilities for complications. But as the author says, it is in a dog's nature to have puppies. Most often the owner needs to stay out of the way and intervene if only necessary.
Great.......2007-07-13
This book is wonderful. Easy to read and great pictures! It explains everything. I hope to breed dogs some day and this is a good book to start with!
A very nice help........2007-06-14
I would like to have had a bigger section on the puppies after the whelp instead of having to find another book that compliments this one. The book is a great start but you need to cover more information than what this book covers alone. I've used it with neighbors who suddenly find themselves with a litter of puppies and don't know what to do. Breeding is more than having a litter to sell. It is about breeding the best stock that you can find and loving and caring for them like they are your own children. Breeding is not for the faint of heart.

Great basic knowledge.......2007-05-13
This book will help anyone who is interested in becoming a responsible breeder. There are several good tips and pointers that will ease the owner into the world of welping and puppies.
Great for new comers.......2007-03-26
This book covers almost every topic in dog breeding; The more important topics it goes into great depth, covering nearly every scenario. Which makes it a great book for beginners or those needing general information on a large range of subjects.

Customer Reviews:
great book..........2007-08-05
very good book, i just adopted a 2 year old chi & i love him dearly but he was not well socialized or well-temermented & this book gave me soo much information on how to correct that even though hes not a puppy and the advice works lol i take my pup to the park in the AM when dog off leash time is allowed and now he plays and doesnt hide or attack and thanks for all the chi adivce
Excellent for Chi Puppy Owners.......2007-05-12
This book helped with understanding the temperament of the Chi. It has been an excellent aid with potty training, basic commands, and hazards that could harm or kill your Chi.
Excellent Book.......2007-01-21
I just got this book, and it's great. There is a lot of information on many subjects, from potty training to traveling. There is information there relating to foods toxic to chihuahuas that other books recommend feeding them. This brings up things I need to ask my vet. It's always good to have up to date information. There aren't a lot of pictures, but this is more of an informational book than a picture book.

Australian Cattle Dog (Kennel Club Dog Breed Series)
ASIN: 0948955287 |
Book Description
The Australian Cattle Dog was developed as a breed by stockmen who wanted a tough, working dog who could drive cattle in the harsh environment of the Australian outback. A number of different dogs were used to produce the ideal type, and these included the native Dingo, the Collie, imported from Britain, and the Australian Kelpie. The authors trace the origins of this tough, intelligent working dog from the Australian outback to the first imports to reach North America, Britain and the rest of Europe. All aspects of caring for the Australian Cattle Dog are covered, such as feeding, exercise, breeding and rearing, and there is a special section on the principles of training and the working role of the Australian Cattle Dog.
Customer Reviews:
not what I was looking for.......2007-07-16
I think for a breeder or trainer, they might find this book helpful, for the lay dog owner..not really what I was looking for.
so so.......2007-05-13
Not terribly useful.........I thought it would be more of an Owner's Manual and I'd like to see more specifications, links, you know, questions like "How long do they live?" "Average weight?" "When do they stop growing?" "Do they ever grow up?"
Absolutely THE BEST ACD book.......2002-09-07
I have owned and raised ACD's for years and this is by far the best book on the breed I have found. I have really enjoyed the reading and the photographs of famous Cattle Dogs. This is not another "puppy care" book - it is really about ACD's. It is a must for any serious Cattle Dog owner or fan.
My Favorite ACD Book!.......2001-11-04
I absolutely love this book. It's almost as if the book was written about my own dogs! I find myself laughing and saying, "Yes! That's Blue!" or "That's exactly what Ready does!" I actually recommend THE COMPLETE ACD for owners of any breed because of the good information that can apply to all dogs.
The Complete Australian Cattle Dog.......2000-01-01
This book has the best breed specific information I have found. It is one of the few books that covers training techniques for "heelers" working with cattle.

The Portuguese Water Dog's storybook return from the brink of extinction is faithfully documented in this first new edition of the breed's bible. There is also a wealth of guidance on care, puppies, showing, performance events and more -- and, oh those photos.
Customer Reviews:
A Classic!.......2006-12-04
Kitty's book is THE reference book on the PWD. It has an in-depth history of the breed, a discussion of the temperament of the average PWD, pedigree information, etc. Although it has some tips on training, that is NOT the purpose of this book. There are plenty of training books out there!
I disagree with the people who say this is just for people who show. I got my copy long before I ever showed a PWD. It is, however, a more in-depth study of the breed. For those who just want tips on how to raise a puppy, I recommend Verne Foster's book. For those who want to understand the breed and the background of their dog, get Kitty's book. I recommend getting both!
There is an earlier version of this book which Kitty wrote with Deyanne Miller (who made the first successful introduction of the PWD to the United States & worked hard to rescue the breed). You do not need that edition unless you want to see photos of some of the early PWDs that are omitted in the revised edition.
Specialised.......2005-10-11
If you're someone who wants to show a Portie in the US, this is the book for you, and you'll probably find it an invaluable resource.
If, however, you're like me and are not in the US, and do not have any desire to show, the book is of limited use. Not a complete waste of time, as there are precious few books out there on the breed, but the book seems very targeted, which is a shame.
Good book to have, but..........2003-08-04
lots of show-dog filler. If you have your PWD as a regular, fun pet & not as a showdog, there are many pages in this book you will just be skimming over.
Only if you want to Show.......2000-05-31
This book is an excellent reference book to anyone who wants to learn about the history of the PWD and how to show and breed. I adopted a PWD from a pound and know nothing of the breed before we got Cheech. I am glad this book was there to give my a general backround and some tips, however, I still would like to know more.
Essential for PWD owners (or those who would like to be).......1999-12-15
A great book! It's the only one I've ever seen, but it's fantastic, with invaluable health and training tips, as well as history. And it is worth the price if only for the photos, but there's so much more. My PWD is a total joy for our whole family - I don't want the breed to become too popular and suffer for it, but I wish I had a dozen of these dogs! And they don't bother people w/allergies, they are wonderful. This book will be very helpful for owners and would-be owners.

Customer Reviews:
All of it was Good.......2007-05-31
I loved every single part of this book. I loved to look at the pictures of dog breeds, and try to see what my beagle mix is mixed WITH. After I looked through it, I read about how train your dog, and all that information. people think that part is boring. They are just like 3 year-olds, never looking at the words of a picture book, just looking at the pictures. I loved it. I keep on checking it out the the library! I check it out so much, my mom gets frustrated when I do check it out anymore!
GREAT book for a young dog lover!.......2007-02-09
My five year old is a huge dog fan. I wanted to find a book for her that really fit with her interests and her level. This book really fit the bill. It has fantastic photos of real dogs, shows where the dogs' origins are from, and gives average size along with a small graphic that shows the dog size in comparison to an adult. The index is easy to read so my five year old can look up a certain dog in the index and easily find it. It has a lot of information about each dog and has kept her interest for hours on end. My only complaint would be that the cover is not holding up to the usage demands! A fantastic book for any young dog lover of any age!
Anonymous in New York.......2006-08-14
My kids absolutely love this book. Every time they see a dog they don't know, they ask what it is and look it up in the book. There hasn't been a dog they haven't been able to find yet. The color photographs, not illustrations, are great. I highly recommend this book, especially to kids who love dogs.
Great for doglovers and dog haters.......2006-06-12
This book is great for dog lovers. I thought that the part about training your dog and such is dull because the pictures and accrual description of the dogs of the book is the best. It is great for someone who wants to get a dog and find which one is perfect for you. People whom already have a dog would not be board in this book. I had already had a dog before I got this and it was fun trying to find my dog and my friend's dog in this book. I think that this book is great for all ages because just looking at the pictures if fun. Anyone who says this is an awful book must be wrong only thing is there are more dogs in the back that do not have a description which means you my not find you dog in this book.
be not mislead, it is about the breeds, not the care.......2005-02-24
As much as I like the book, it was not what I though it would be. This is a book about the various breeds explaining thme briefly to the child reader and introducing them by photos. Some of the best photos at a very reasonable price for those looking into the different breeds around!
