Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
I Am Happier to Know You is the story of the people, culture, sights and fragrances of Egypt and the Middle East viewed through the eyes and heart of a single, midlife woman. Concurrently, it's a memoir of the joys and challenges author Jeanne M. Eck embraced when, on wings of faith, she left her Western culture behind and moved to Egypt.

loved it, loved it, loved it...my kind of book....easy to read, extremely interesting & informative...if you have a desire to learn more about the muslim culture & to have a greater understanding of the people of egypt this is the book you must read. the author with her wit & charm has done a wonderful job at making you feel you are there with her sharing her experiences. will definately order more copies to give to my friends (there not getting my copy)who i know will think twice before critising the muslim culture & hopefully have a harder look at our own culture.
I am Happier to Know You.......2006-03-26
Written with humor, honesty and genuine caring, I am Happier to Know You takes the reader into a rich and varied culture with social and political perspectives so necessary to our understanding of today's world. This story of a lone, American woman as she finds personal strength experiencing a totally new life is insightful and compassionate. I felt as if I were in Egypt. Her sense of humor took her through many trying circumstances, but brought with it acceptance and understanding of a country and a people she truly loves. I am Happier to Know You provides both learning and understanding of Middle Eastern customs through non-judgmental eyes and an inspiring, courageous story of personal growth.
Easy to read.......2006-02-25
This book is written in a easy way to read, entertaining and informative in some parts but the writer was misinformed in some other parts. I am an Egyptian and while was reading some parts I was feeling like she was talking about another country than the one I know. Either she was misinformed as I said or didn't understand some aspects of the culture. Overall, it is a good book. At least she took the time to know another culture. I salute her.
Love is the Answer.......2005-11-15
"I Am Happier to Know You" written by Jeanne M. Eck is a memoir of a journey within and without. Written with honesty and clarity Jeanne's voice offers the reader to experience Egypt through her eyes and heart. Her growth and wisdom expands in this faraway land and this growth and wisdom transcends the pages for all to grasp. Ultimately, her message is really very simple and beautiful, " Love is the answer, it is the answer to everything.
I Am Even Happier To Know Jean Eck & Her Wonderful Book!.......2005-11-13
What can I say? Jean is so honest when she writes and I truly love this quality in her latest book "I Am Happier To Know You." As an expat living in Egypt, myself (for 7 years), I truly could not of said it any better than Jean. She captures every little detail of life in Egypt. Her indepth explanation of the sounds, smells, and tastes of Egyptian life is brought to life in-front of your eyes, as you read her book. At times, I felt I wasn't reading - I was just mearly watching her life unfold hear step by step and inch by inch. She has truly done the unknown and remarkable endeavours to create this book. Going were most people don't dare go; she went full force into a life of the unknown and came out to tell about it in "I Am Happier To Know You." I highly recommend this book to anyone that simply once to be able to let go of all you ever known but, just can't! Jean Eck makes it all come true for you in "I Am Happier To Know You."

Book Description
Far from being pampered house pets, the cats of Cairo are street-smart survivors who roam freely throughout the city. However, their ancestors in ancient Egypt were revered as gods and were so beloved that they were portrayed in statues and jewelry. In subsequent centuries,
the tradition of adoring cats continued and today, as Lorraine Chittock’s captivating photographs display, the mystique of the cat lives on. Discover your cat’s Egyptian heritage in this delightful gift book, which pays homage to the special and timeless bond that Egyptians have with the cat in the ever-changing city of Cairo.
Rambling through mosques and markets, Lorraine Chittock, a cat-lover-cum-photographer, searched Cairo’s nooks and crannies for city-savvy felines, becoming a wildlife tracker in an urban environment. The resulting photographs are remarkable for their spontaneity and often
whimsical sensitivities to both feline and human body language. Each intimate and thoughtprovoking photograph is complemented by an apposite literary passage, tempting the reader to explore tidbits of folklore, religion, and poetry from Egypt and the Arab world, while giving
insights into an animal that has inspired fascinating tales for at least five thousand years.

In Praise of Cairo Cats.......2006-11-18
Following is a verbatim passage from a recent e-mail message I sent to Cairo Cats mastermind and photographer, Lorraine Chittock. She suggested that I post it on Amazon, which I am happy to do. I actually purchased the earlier edition of Cairo Cats from Amazon, which is quite similar to the new 2006 volume, but not as good, in my opinion. There are some new images in the new edition, the text font and text color are better, and I even think the coloration on the wonderful images is more robust and eye-popping in the new edition. Also, the new edition is printed in Cairo, which adds character and authenticity as far as I'm concerned. The reason I became interested in the Cairo Cats volume was to provide background, reality, and a worldwide viewpoint to a Breed Booth display for a large, well attended international cat show. Our breed, the Somali, claims the North African geographical area and the ancient Egyptian culture as part of its "Creation Mythology". Cairo Cats helps present the Somali legend to the public, and provides context and an enjoyable reference book for the breeders represented by our display.
>These artful, captivating, intriguing images from a distant, exotic
>land will hopefully provide depth and background to our exhibit
>for the 2006 CFA International Show. Your volume illustrates
>a culture with perhaps the world's premier claim to a long and
>sincere Cat Fancy tradition. Both ancient and modern
>manifestations of Egyptian Cat Fancy are beautifully presented.
>Thoughtful readers can meditate on poetic Egyptian quotations
>spanning four millenia. There is much to value and appreciate
>in your Cairo Cats volume, Lorraine. I feel very lucky to be
>able to offer it to a broad audience, some of whom will
>deeply appreciate its rich cross-cultural offering.
The Perfect Gift Book!!.......2006-08-05
An inspiring book, that captures the true essence of Cairo, one of the world's most incredible cities. The pictures range from amusing, to awe-inspiring to poignant. Cat lovers and anyone with an interest in Egypt will absolutely cherish this one-of-a-kind book.
An enduring book.......2006-08-03
Cairo Cats is highly professional but down-to-earth, with enchanting images, arresting quotations and an illuminating introduction. It helps us expand our understanding of the world and its creatures. Enough to make a non-cat person like me into a cat lover.
Paradise for Cat Lovers. Plus, cat poetry, cat proverbs, cat prayers..........2006-08-02
Poetry by cool cats such as Naomi Shihab Nye and Nizar Qabbani, inscriptions from The Prophecies of Neferti, cat fiqh from Aisha and Imam al-Shafii (is that not delightful?), Persian folk sayings, Turkish proverbs, cat wisdom from Afghanistan, cat notes from Egyptian Nobel Laureate novelist Naguib Mahfouz. Cat calligraphy! "Qitt" with an inky tail!
All arranged amid lush, delightful cat photos: Cat among the Pharoahs, cat goddesses and gods, cat on a Persian rug, cats making careful cat-ablutions, cats on Cairo streetcorners, cat in a coffeeshop, the cat and the copper tray.
What a GEM!
I app-purrrrrr-rove.
Perfect for any cat lover who wants something a little different.......2006-06-23
CAIRO CATS are street-smart, hold a fine lineage, and are not to be treated the same way as your typical Western cat: that's the message in the blend of history and pet insights of CAIRO CATS: EGYPT'S ENDURING LEGACY, which uses the backdrop of Cairo to explore the cats through verse and prose alike. Lovely photos display the cats against fine Egyptian scenes while descriptions draw readers in. Perfect for any cat lover who wants something a little different.

All The Cats of Cairo.......2007-09-19
ALL THE CATS OF CAIRO by Inda Schaenen contains elements of Egyptain history, mythical wonderment, and present day problems. Written for middle-school children, ALL THE CATS OF CAIRO not only captures the imagination and interest of adolescents, but is also rich in vocabulary. Teachers will find the book rich in promoting the tools of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation as students are challenged to understand how the past affects the present. Overcoming cultural differences is also a theme to promote as thirteen-year-old Maggie and her family find themselves living in the heart of Cairo: a stark contrast to their life in America. Child labor, poverty, and cultural prejudice combined with the mystery of the cat-goddess of Bastet, make this book a sure winner for children. Used as assigned summer reading, as a class study, or independent literature, ALL THE CATS OF CAIRO is enjoyable thought-provoking.
Highly recommended for teen cat lovers........2007-07-10
The first novel specifically for young adults by published author Inda Schaenen, All the Cats in Cairo is an adventure in which Maggie, an ordinary 13-year-old girl, receives contact from the mysterious cat goddess of ancient Egypt, Bastet. With the aid of the goddess' many cat disciples, and the friendship of an Egyptian boy, Maggie must uncover a terrible evil secret within Egypt, one that could sap its very life force. All the Cats of Cairo comes alive with its vibrant setting and its harmonious blend of twenty-first century modernity and mystic wonder. Highly recommended for teen cat lovers.
All the Cats of Cairo gets five stars from our reading group.......2007-05-21
My after school reading book club read All the Cats of Cairo by Inda Schaenen and we loved the book.
The story is about a girl named Maggie, who is our age, and a LOT like us. Maggie moves from Washington, DC with her Mom and Dad to Cairo - where she is contacted by an ancient Egyptian cat goddess who needs her help to save children from a evil American businessman who wants to build a company in Cairo... His workers are young children, taken from their poor parents, who need money and they will work as slaves! Maggie and her new friend, a boy named Tareq, travel through Egypt to try and save the children.
It's a very exciting story! And my reading group gave it five stars.
Customer Reviews:
A more developed mystery and an emerging romance.......1999-12-15
Unlike its predecessors, "The Brighton Burglar" and "The Secret Scroll," "The Cairo Cats" is a much better mystery. Instead of jumping way ahead of the heroine, the reader actually figures out the mystery at the same time. However, still be prepared to get rather annoyed at the heroine for being obtuse frequently during the mystery. The plot moves to London instead of Brighton and does not follow the same pattern as the other two, keeping this book from descending into unimaginative drivel. Also, the book contains some real funny plot twists involving a replication of many Cairo Cats.
For romance lovers who missed a real relationship in Ms. Poore's previous books of this series, the romance begins to heat up between the hero and heroine. The sexual tension makes the book better reading by keeping the main characters interesting.
The series definitely improves with this one. Look to "The Mummy's Mirror" for a completion of the series.

Wonderfully clever book.......2006-08-07
I have bought a number of Cats of Cairo now for friends everywhere and all have found this book to be insightful, entertaining and endearing. The photographs are special but the thoughts and insights that accompany them are both appealing and informative and offer a glimpse into the lives of the amazing felines that stalk the streets and alleys of Cairo.

Spirituality & the cat.......2006-08-02
My cat-people friends are FLIPPING out over this book; photos of heaven for cat lovers. From pagan cattitudes to sufi dhikr-purrs, a divine celebration of the feline. How felicitous! Lucky Lorraine, too, to have landed what has to be one of the last essays of the late Dr Annemarie Schimmel (may she rest in mercy), and such an essay of sweet profundity, all about the place of love for cats in Islam: Hadiths on kittens, cat-loving Egyptians, these are a few of her favorite things.
For anyone who has looked into the mystery of a cat's eyes.......2001-06-07
Cats Of Cairo: Egypt's Enduring Legacy is a splendidly presented photographic presentation and testament to the savvy, street-smart felines of Cairo and the result of photographer Lorraine Chittock's seven year residence in this fabled Egyptian city. Here we see intimate portraits of these predatory survivors augmented with quotes derived from a spectrum of historical and modern sources tracing the timeless connection between people and cats in a never ending cycle of life. Cats Of Cairo is a fitting testament and "must" reading for anyone who has ever looked into the mystery of a cat's eyes, watched the stalking of a perfect predator, or felt purring vibrations under a caressing stroke.
