Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:
Great Boxer Book.......2002-07-03
Author Stephanie Abraham put out another great book in 2000. Enough readers & critics enjoyed it to have it earn the same year's "Dog Writers Assoc of America" award. It's a handsome hardcover book with 220+ crisp pages. Pictures on just about every page. Abraham is dedicated to the Boxer breed. She speaks of the Boxer with admiration as only a Boxer owner could. She writes well and in easy to read fashion. Topics include caring for, general health, choosing your Boxer and traits to look for in a puppy, history, basic tips in training... and so much more. I refer to this book constantly. This is a very thorough book and anyone who owns a Boxer should own it. The only thing it doesn't mention - the older your Boxer gets, the more he slobbers. My family (including our Boxer, Max) is better off for it.
WINNER-BEST BREED BOOK of 2000.......2001-11-02
Just to state the fact that The Boxer: Family Favorite won the Dog Writers Association of America award as the Best Single Breed Book of the year 2000. This book is THE definitive in-depth study of the breed by someone who has spent her whole life living with and loving Boxers. The color photographs are outstanding.
The Boxer: Family Favorite -- A Must Have.......2001-08-11
As an owner of three boxers and 10 boxer books, if I could only have one boxer book this would be it. It is full of wonderful information for both people who know and love the breed, and also is a wonderful introduction to someone considering their first boxer.
A Joy To Read.......2001-01-02
The Boxer: Family Favorite is one of the most enjoyable dog books I have read. The author's love of boxers, enthusiasm and dedication to the breed is evident on every page. She provides a wealth of practical information for anyone interested in boxers, the photographs are beautiful, and I recommend this book highly.
The Boxer: Family Favorite.......2000-06-24
Boxer neophytes might call this a "coffee table" book because of the fine quality of the cover, photos, paper, binding, etc. To anyone interested in entering world the Boxer this book says welcome. But we who do own (or expect to own), breed, and show our Boxers will find this book to contain valuable information on all Boxer topics so important to us: history, breeding, puppy selection, health, etc. The writing is clear, well organized, and a pleasure to read. Because Stephanie Abraham is well known in the national and international Boxer world, she had the confidence of the owners of these beautiful dogs so they released these many photos for her book. Experienced Boxer folk will recognize the magnificent Boxers in the crisp, colored photos.

Book Description
Whereas Volume I of this series investigates the overall structure of children's picture storybooks at the macro level, this volume, Volume II, investigates the very building blocks of picture storybooks at the micro level: the word, the sentence, the scene and the story. We look at the importance of word choice for giving the story meaning and cohesion. We look at ways to change sentence structure to emphasize the information that is important, and to ensure that sentences flow easily from one to another. We look at the scene: how to begin it, how to end it, and how to create the Beats of action-reaction that make up the scene. And finally we look at the story: what types of problems must a character solve? When does a story introduce a problem? And once a problem is intro-duced, how do picture storybooks move from problem to solution? What types of solutions do characters find? Is there any part of a story that occurs after the solution is found? To answer these and other questions is to describe storytelling strategies. We look at enduringly popular children's picture storybooks to see what storytelling strategies they employ.
Customer Reviews:
A must have for picture book writers.......2007-09-04
I was having trouble with rhythm and beats in my picture book writing. This book really helped me learn the beat structure in picture book writing and how they create rhythm. My picture book writing seemed flat and lifeless and now, thanks to this book, it has the rhythm it was lacking. I would also suggest Volumes I and III for other parts of picture book writing. Definitely a must have for those writing picture books and those needing to learn the structure, rhythm and specific language used in those types of books.
Practical and Easy-to-understand.......2006-11-14
I'm thrilled to see a second volume to Bine-Stock's first in this series dedicated to taking the mystery out of writing a picture book. Bine-Stock rises to the top once again as she explains, simply and clearly, how to build a picture book from the ground up. Focusing on choosing the right words, using the best sentence structure, creating a scene, and utilizing a powerful storytelling technique, this book is a valuable tool. I plan on recommending it to other authors I know!

Customer Reviews:
Knitting for Dogs.......2007-09-11
I prefer crochet, but this book made knitting patterns more simple than I remember, and the patterns are cute.
This was the book that inspired me to finally make a sweater.......2007-02-14
Make a sweater for my dog - that is. I have been to lovely, charming and funky dog boutiques - I look at the prices for the sweaters and other dog attire. Trust me, I have bought one truly cute sweater and only because it was on sale! So,first off, the specialty dog boutique prices alone helped drive me to seek out knitting books for dog sweaters. And, a very big second motivating factor was the quality of what was offered in the specialty dog boutiques were not anything better than what I could make once I set my mind to it! After a bit of browsing, I saw this book online, and later on I went to a local book store to look at the book in person to make sure I would like the patterns as well as see the various skill levels available - the price online is still far better. This is an excellent book for a knitter of any skill level. I have only made one sweater out of this book but to me it was worth it many times over because my dog LOVED the sweater! My dog still enjoys wearing the sweater. I am still a newer knitter and I think if you have any level of knitting skill at all that any pattern in this book can be adapted for a custom-fit and custom-design sweater for your dog and their personality. Recently, I was on a trip and stopped in the Dog Boutiques - so once again, I have been inspired to get this book out!
Loved This Book.......2006-12-22
Picked up Knitting For Dogs last night and looked through the patterns. It is a fun book with different yarns suggested for the sweaters. Yes, most of the yarns come from a yarn store but in such small amounts the sweaters wouldn't be costly to make. There are very sweet designs for girl dogs and some "manly" type sweaters for boy dogs. Most patterns are simple but there is a Fair Isle design and a sweater with a cable stitch. Great way to learn these designs since the projects are small.
I like the fact that different type yarns are used. Who wants to knit with boring old worsted all the time.
If you have creativity in your soul, this book is for you. If you want your dog to stand out because of a creative, classy sweater than go for this book.
And to top if off, the models are great! :)
Book for your babies!!.......2006-06-27
Every dog mommy who knits should get this book. Ilove it!!
Partially good, partially mediocre.......2006-04-02
I've knitted one sweater out of this book. It didn't fit my dog, but I guess her body is shaped weirdly. I don't think it was errata on her part, I think it was mostly mine. But I ended up having to "rig" it so badly that I didn't think twice when I left it on her overnight in a friend's backyard and it's been sitting in a grocery bag covered in grass ever since, stretched out of shape. Eh.
It is nice to see a book that's written for something besides "purse pooches." I have a Labrador Retriever (at least 3/4 of her is) so it's nice to have some designs for her.
Some of the designs are uber-Paris Hilton, which I guess is appealing to some people so I won't be too obvious about my complete and total disgust for them. In fact, there are only about 5 designs I'd actually use, and some of those I'd have to modify to suit my needs.
The yarn she suggests is REALLY expensive, and I'm sorry, but my dog is not worth a $120 sweater that she would probably eat in ten minutes. I mean, I love her, but acrylic will do just fine because it never rains here. And frankly, I don't think she could tell the difference between scratchy virgin wool and cashmere (or the kettle-dyed merino she suggests at like, $13 a ball). But this is a common feature of many knitting books - since they get the yarn free, I suppose they soon forget that college students like me don't have oodles to spend on "haute couture" for their dog. (Seriously, though.)
Some of the designs are embarassing, like the saddle-bags (people actually need a PATTERN to make those?), the felted collar/wristband set (uh...), a sweater with matching (human) armwarmers (yeah, just, no), and dog legwarmers. To me, some of these seem impractical because unless your dog never MOVES they'll fall off in five minutes. I don't know. I just think some of the designs are frivolous, and with the quality of other designs like the Raglan Sweater and the basic Garter Stitch Sweater I wish she just would have stayed on that track and knitted practical things for practical dogs, because there are already boatloads of books dedicated to the Jessica Simpson/Paris Hilton dog-pampering crowd. No thanks.
At least it has a few utilitarian designs for big dogs - which is more than I can say for any other dog-book I've read. Just pray you don't have to modify any of the patterns, because it's confusing and frustrating.

Book Description
“There are many families where the whole interest in life is centered upon the dog,” wrote Jerome K. Jerome in 1889, and any devoted dog person would agree that the same is true today.
There’s a tale behind every family dog.
The Family Dog celebrates the oft-told stories of love and devotion, of astonishing daring or colossal mishap, recounted by an eclectic group of writers, including E. B. White, James Thurber, Dave Barry, Jack London, Caroline Knapp, and David Sedaris. Here are stories about the Airedale who bit, well, almost everyone; the collie who traveled fourteen miles over frozen pastures to reunite with his family; the poodle with the bluest eyes; the Great Dane who had business to do; the pug who ate three socks and a T-shirt in one sitting; the boxer who only answered to one name: Food; and the dachshund who even disobeyed when asked to do something he wanted to do.
Illustrated with stunning black-and-white photographs from many diverse sources, this book confirms that, quite often, the most popular family member is the one with four legs.
Book Description
This enchanting program collects some of the Yorkshire vet's favorite stories about one of his favorite animals, each tale as memorable and heartwarming as the last. Christopher Timothy, the star of television's All Creatures Great and Small, and the acknowledged "voice" of Dr. Herriot, lovingly narrates this new collection of the good doctor's canine encounters. Here are tales of golden retrievers and sheepdogs, beagles and dachshunds, purebreds and crossbreeds and just plain mutts -- and, of course, Tricki Woo, Mrs. Pumphrey's memorable Pekinese. Each tale is suffused with the humor, wisdom and humanity of one of the greatest storytellers of our time: James Herriot.

Great book.......2007-05-07
I read his books as a teen and loved them. Bought the whole set for my grandsons, [teens]. They laughed until they cried. [so did I].
Heartwarming.......2007-04-11
This book has many heartwarming stories. It really discribes the way veterinary work was handled years ago. Mr. Herriot is a great story teller.
Wondeful and Warm.......2007-02-21
This book has been sitting on my bookshelf for a while because I passed it over for other newer books... How sorry I am I waited this long! This book is so good... the stories about the different dogs are heartwarming, and heartwrenching...they are filled with almost any dog immaginable and are a delight to read especially for dog lovers. I can't recommend this book enough...

50 Warm And Comforting. Hug Your Dog!.......2006-08-13
Do you have a passion for animals? If so, you'll inhale this book. The authors heartfelt emotions can be felt on every page. He clearly adored the animals he cared for over the decades. He described the colorful European countryside, the diverse pets, and the people who owned them in fine detail. Each story is accompanied by an ink sketch that added some warm visuals. My favorite stories were of "Tricki Woo", "Judy The Nurse Dog", "Granville Bennett", and "Cigar." What was nice is that since the stories were broken up, you could not lose your place when you took a break. Yet, I only took one because this was a fast page turner. I have had several dogs in my life and these are the most honest depictions of dog behavior I have read thus far. All animal lovers will enjoy this. Time to hug my dog and adopt another.

You will need the associated Clifford Books.......2004-01-16
When I was searching online for some books for my 3 year old, I found this one and thought it would be great since it included 15 Clifford books and some associated activities. No where in the item description did it say this was solely a teacher's guide and did not include the Clifford stories. When you "look inside the pages" and see the table of contents it lists each Clifford book and nothing else. This really lead me to believe that all 15 books were contained within. This is not the case. I am sure the activity book is great, but without the associated stories it is useless to me and my 3 year old. I hope this helps dispel some of the confusion and prevents others from making my mistake.

Everything Dog.......2005-07-16
This book was one of my daughter's favorites when she was a child, but anyone who loves dogs (and dog stories) will enjoy this book. It is an anthology of short stories and excerpts including Lassie Come Home, Travels With Charley, The Call of the Wild, The Indredible Journey and stories by Rudyard Kipling and Marguerite Henry. In all, there are about 30 selections. Each selection features a simple, beautifully rendered line drawing by Hamilton Greene.

More bookstores should carry Bill Peet!.......2007-06-30
It's a shame that every book store that I have entered has neglected to carry this fantastic author! This book was a favorite of mine growing up and I never even knew of Bill Peet's other stories! My neighbors have never even had the pleasure of knowing who this fantastic author is. Now that I am a mother, I am filling our library up with his wonderful books. And I hope that I will be able to introduce all the neighborhood kids to Bill Peet's books as well.
We love Bill Peet!.......2006-08-15
This story was fantastic, just like all the others by Bill Peet that we have read so far! My 2 girls and 2 boys have very different tastes in books, but Bill Peet tales never fail to delight all of them. He is one of our "safe" choices - the author we reach for at night, and one of the shelves we always visit at the library! Other Bill Peet titles we'd recommend are Cyrus the Unsinkable Sea Serpent, Encore for Eleanor, and Kermit the Hermit. These are great stories, more involved and interesting than most, with surprising twists and turns. They have a lesson to impart without being preachy, and the characters are fantastic!
It Struck a Chord With An Adopted Child.......2003-02-20
Bill Peet's THE WHINGDINGDILLY was our very "unbookish" oldest son's favorite book as a child. At age four he wanted my wife or me to read it to him over and over again. (And he enjoyed pronouncing the title of the book when he asked.) By age six or seven he was reading it to himself and his younger brother. To him there was something absolutely captivating about it. My theory is that, because our oldest son was adopted, from an early age he had unverbalized concerns about his identity. And THE WHINGDINGDILLY is about identity, and being happy with who you are. This child is now 31 and recently had the pleasure of introducing his older daughter to this great book (a present from her grandparents!).
Lovely and enchanting book.......2001-01-19
Created by classic former Disney artist Bill Peet, Whingdingdilly is a fun and beautiful book featuring an endearing hero, Scamp the dog. Scamp, unhappy with being a "plain" dog, wishes to be more interesting in order to attract attention and be more popular. A disastrous encounter with a witch turns Scamp into a fantastic creature known as a whingdingdilly, which has to be seen to be believed. During the course of his adventures, Scamp learns that popularity isn't all it's cracked up to be and that he is loved for just being himself. Filled with Bill Peet's wonderful artwork, this is an absolutely charming book that belongs in everyone's collection of books for young readers.
One of the best illustrated Children's book ever published.......1998-02-12
Bill Pete's Whingdingdilly has achieved the intellegint and odd writing of works by Dr. Seuss and combined them with the full and rich drawings of an accomplished artist. There is a warmness to this story in the friendship between an odd-looking beast and a curious boy that Dr. Seuss's work simply does not compare to.
