Very good. A must for any Vet who wants to keep on top of their knowledge of pathology.
Libro excelente_Victor Arcila Quiceno (Colombia).......2007-02-19
Excellent book.......2007-02-04
I think this book is excellent not only for student but also for any veterinary pathologists. It is well writen and it has a lot of excellent figures (remember that Prof McGavin has published "Specimen Dissection and Photography: For the Pathologist, Anatomist and Biologist"). In fact, is the veterinary version of the famous Robbin's human pathology book, but with more and much better gross and histologic photos. A drawback is that only animal diseases of North America are included.

Book Description
This title is directed primarily towards health care professionals outside of the United States. The 5th edition of Jubb, Kennedy, and Palmers Pathology of Domestic Animals continues the long tradition of this classic set of volumes as the most comprehensive reference book published on the topic of pathology of the common domestic mammals, with emphasis on disease conditions of cattle and small ruminants, swine, horses, dogs and cats. Using a body systems approach, recognized authorities in their fields provide overviews of general characteristics of the system, reactions to insult, and disease conditions broken down by type of infectious or toxic insult affecting the anatomical subdivisions of each body system. Since the publication of the 4th edition in 1993, much has changed. Disease agents, such as Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) type 2, Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), Porcine circovirus 2, Hendra virus, and Leptospira spp., have emerged or further evolved. Molecular-based testing, including polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and in-situ hybridization, have allowed further understanding of pathogenesis of disease, and have greatly furthered our diagnostic capabilities.

Its good......NOT great.......2007-09-27
It is a good book, especially if you like to color.....but that is the only great thing about it. It lacks important detail, thus it is a coloring book only!
A Colouring Atlas of Dog Anatomy.......2007-09-22
I am extremely happy with the purchase of this particular book. As a student of Animal Bowen Therapy, I require information that is explanatory and easy to understand. This book is all of that and more. The pictures are simple and it is very easy to see the different aspects of the anatomy of a dog.
I received the book in wonderful timing and as always, found the transaction to be easy and non fuss. I will continue to shop for my books this way as it is 9 times out of 10 the cheapest and best way to do it.

Dog Anatomy A Coloring Atlas.......2007-09-07
Beautiful pictures with clear information. This book is required for the Comparative Anatomy class that I am taking. I would highly recomend this book for any vet tech students suffering from information overload. Great help in understanding the basics.
Dog Anatomy: A Coloring Atlas.......2007-07-16
This is an excellent resource for anyone who is studying dog anatomy for any reason. Illustrations are detailed and clearly labelled. I am using this as a reference for a Canine Myotherapy certification course.
Not detailed enough for Vet Students.......2006-11-11
I am a first year veterinary student, and I bought this book thinking it would be a good tool for reviewing my anatomy. Definitely not the case!!! The book is not detailed enough to satisfy the veterinary student (at least not at Tufts!). This is especially true for the nerves and bones. I would recommed getting the Evans and deLahunta "Guide to the Dissection of the Dog" instead, and coloring in their black and white illustrations.
Book Description
This valuable text presents methods and techniques for conducting an animal disease surveillance program, and developing an animal health monitoring system. The text is a recipe book for these techniques as it explains modern techniques, while emphasizing the fundamentals and principles of using these techniques
Customer Reviews:
Not bad for a required textbook.......2005-08-04
I am required to have this book for my MVPH. I have (so far) found it easy enough to read. As someone who already works in this field parts of it were a little basic for me and there wasn't enough practical information. On the other hand, if I were new to the discipline I think it would be a useful starting point.

The Mouse Brain in Stereotaxic Coordinates, Deluxe Second Edition (with CD-ROM)
ASIN: 0123364256 |
Book Description
Among animals used in research, teaching and testing, mice are now widely recognized as the most important model for human diseases and disorders. They comprise the majority of all experimental mammals and tend to be the model of choice used for research into many diseases/disorders including cancer, heart disease, asthma, Alzheimers, Down syndrome, deafness, osteoporosis, obesity, diabetes and even mental health research. Additionally the laboratory mouse continues to play a widely publicized vital role in the human genome project.
One of the most time-consuming activities in research laboratories is looking up information specific to the species or strain of animal being used. This book, part of the highly successful
Handbook of Experimental Animals series, allows the user quick access to any point of interest on the mouse as an experimental model.
* Edited by Hans Hedrich, Hannover Medical School
* Comprehensive reference source written by international experts
* Well-illustrated with high quality detailed images
* Two-color, user-friendly format combined with color plate sections

Invaluable reference book.......2007-09-05
This book should be in the lab of every scientist that uses mice in his/her research. My lab was very depressed when I took it to my new job.
Book Description
Veterinary technicians must have a solid grasp of the underlying science in their field, and anatomy and physiology is a key component of the veterinary technology curriculum. CLINICAL ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY FOR THE VETERINARY TECHNICIAN is the first comprehensive work designed to cover clinically relevant A&P content. Written by veterinary technician educators at a level appropriate for students, it covers dogs, cats, horses, and cattle, integrated throughout each chapter. A separate chapter at the end of the book is devoted to birds.

Clinical Anatomy & Physiology for Veterinary Technicians.......2007-05-19
This is a great book for students and graduate techs alike. I wish we had this text when I was in tech school. It is not too simple, but neither is it too complex. It really makes harder to understand concepts, such as the electrophysiology of the heart, very easy to understand. Everything is arranged by system, and the illustrations and glossary are wonderful. I like the section on avian anatomy and physiology, too.
Clinical Anatomy & Physiology for Veterinary Technicians.......2007-02-18
This is a great text for A and P Vet Tech classes. It is well written with concise, easy to understand explanations. It is also a good teaching source.
Good for introduction.......2006-11-05
This textbook is pretty good information for those who are studying anatomy and physiology for the first time. However, it lacks the development of information at times for the functions I and descriptions of bones. Also, if you are a graphic learner, this book falls behind in terms of pictures. I found that I really needed to absorb what was observed in the lab to connect it with the information in this book.
Overall, it's a good start to learning the basics of anatomy and physiology.
Clinical Anatomy and Physiology for Veterinary Technicians.......2006-05-27
This is an excellant book for overall review. I have kept it handy to look forgotten things up, to study for boards and just to review! It is easy to read and is set up for easy finds!
A Very Informative, Interesting Book.......2006-03-11
I am preparing for my Veterinary Medical Technology Degree. I have many books on veterinary medicine and technology. I ordered Clinical Anatomy & Physiology for Veterinary Technicians because I wanted to better understand the animal body and its systems. This is a very good book for that. It is very easy to read and understand. There are many diagrams that are well layed out and are clear and concise. This is a great book if you are a student or if you just want to learn about the animal body and its many fascinating structures and systems.

Book Description
This clinically-oriented text covers the anatomy of all major species of domestic animals. It provides the general knowledge of mammalian structure that is crucial to the understanding of the other basic sciences, as well as the more detailed information that is directly applicable to the practice of veterinary medicine. Discussing the various body systems, it then offers a working knowledge of them by addressing the regional anatomy of a particular species or group of species.
Customer Reviews:
Anatomy book for veterinary school.......2007-09-22
Interesting book. Some of the reading is kind of long and tedious but it does teach you a lot about almost every type of animal. This was a required textbook for my gross anatomy class.
A necessity for veterinary students.......2007-06-11
This book really helped me get through comparative and large animal anatomy. It gives you a good overview of functional and comparative anatomy between major species. I would recommend this book to anyone in vet school.
Very detailed, covers everything.......2006-12-19
This book is great if you have time to sit down and have a good read of it. It is not useful for quick checking of anatomy, yet this is what an atlas is for. If you take the time to read sections entirely it gives you a great understanding of the "big picture" and explains functional anatomy well.
To be used with other vet anatomy books.......2006-08-21
At first I found this book difficult to appreciate and get into - but once I did I found that it was extremely useful. There aren't too many other vet anatomy textbooks with as much detail. However, the text can be dull and there are only a limited number of color photos. So I would recommend using this book along with other vet anatomy textbooks which provide better pictures.
Great anatomy book.......2006-01-27
Useful in veterinary anatomy courses. Covers large and small domestic animals. Detailed written descriptions and good diagrams. A must have reference for the veterinary student.

Appendix III contains a series of schematic diagrams, with accompanying text, illustrating important brain circuits.
Customer Reviews:
Crucial for a sheep neurodissection.......2002-12-13
First off, you will also want The Sheep Brain: A Basic Guide
by Richard K. Cooley to go along with this. This book is more lab-manual style then the other book, but has the same great qualities - it is meant to be right by your side when you are dissecting, not in the library. If you're concerned, i\t's easy to photocopy for personal use. The main thing I like about this and the other book is that the price is right for any budget. You shouldn't have to pay more for the book than you do for the brains :)
Sheep brain lab manual.......2001-08-16
An excellent manual. The manual provides sagittal, horizontal and coronal views of the sheep brain, with slices that are of excellent quality. In addition, there are gross dissections that allow students an excellent understanding of the relations between the basic structures of the ventral brain. Most of us who get sheep brains for our labs from laboratory supply houses can only dream of the cranial nerves shown in clear detail here. At the University of Guelph, we are one of the few holdout universities that offer the sheep brain dissection to large introductory biopsychology classes, and although excellent photographic series are available on the Web, nothing can replace actually going through a sheep brain. This manual is very, very helpful in this pursuit. Highly recommended.
Book Description
This book covers all aspects of toxicology, including toxic diseases of large animals, small animals, and exotic pets. It provides key information on how poisons affect the body, how the body responds to a foreign substance, how poisonings are diagnosed, and how poisonings are treated.
Coverage includes every organ system of every species of animal with details on each body system's susceptibility to poison. Poisons affect animals differently depending on species, breed, age, gender, health status, and reproductive status. This resource addresses these differences, allowing the veterinarian to determine the class of toxicant, the mechanism of action, and the proper course of treatment. If confronted with an unknown poison, the information in this book will assist the veterinarian in formulating a list of potential poisons based on the clinical signs that the animal is exhibiting, and in choosing the appropriate tests to narrow the list to one or a few possible poisons.
