Magic Tree House Box Set.......2007-10-09
What can I say about Magic Tree House Books? Wow! My eight year old son has been reading them for quite a while now. Our public library does a great job at keeping a variety but doesn't always have the one that he's just dying to read today. I hope that by giving him at least a few of his own favorites that are in this set to keep on hand at home will satisfy his very large reading appetite.
Great Books for a young boy to read.......2007-10-07
It takes a lot for me to get my son to read anything. But with these books he read them with euthusiam and read each one within a week.Magic Tree House Boxed Set 2, Books 5-8: Night of the Ninjas, Afternoon on the Amazon, Sunset of the Sabertooth, and Midnight on the Moon
Great books for little boys................2007-05-13
We read one or two chapters a night to my 5 1/2 yr. old son everynight. He loves all the topics that the books cover....dinosaurs, pirates, ninjas, etc. Great for any little boy!
Great Books.......2007-05-12
My 5 year old son loves the books. They are short enough to keep his attention, but long enough to challenge his imagination.
Great Gift.......2007-05-12
I bought these for my 6 year old grandson for his birthday. He was excited to get them, but they were laid aside for the even more exciting toys that he received. However, as the toys got boring, these books became more entertaining. Currently he is immensely enjoying reading them. They are excellent beginning readers.

Our summer book club loved this book!.......2007-07-28
We are a book club of girls entering [...]. We all loved this book. There was so much to discuss and talk about. We loved exploring the differences between Shay, who was not shown love, and Mila, who had a loving dolphin family. Shay was unable to respond to human contact or relate to music at all. Even though the tug of the sea and her life with the dolphins eventually reclaims Mila, she makes a valiant attempt at living in the world of men.
A speechless dolphin .......2007-03-02
I am writing this because I am doing it for a reading assignment. I rated it 2 ½ stars because it was catchy but the point of the story was given away in the middle of the story.
I would recommend this book to kids from the ages of 9-12 because it is easy at the beginning and it gets harder towards the middle.
The adventures of the lost dolphin girl.......2007-03-02
I'm writing this assignment for our 7th grade humanities class.
I liked the description they used to describe each character. I disliked when they give almost everything away, like when she goes swimming she sees people in white and it's obvious their doctors. I liked the book because the author allows you to picture everything.
I rated it 3 ½ because it gives important beginnings and ends away, and also I thought they described everything that happens so you can just tell what the end is going to be. I loved the words the used to describe each character.
I would recommend this book for second graders because some would like the sea and others the dolphins and its description.
Sociological Literature for Young People.......2006-04-30
I am writing this as a reply to the review entitled "OMG THIS BOOK WAS HORRIBLE."
This novel is not about it being a "true" story, which it isn't, but about the development of language and social communication and interaction.
An example case relative to Mila's predicament would be the case of Isabelle, who was discovered when she was 6 years old in a dark room, where her family kept her secluded from the world. She hadn't properly developed speech, nor did she have social experience.
The point is that as the book progresses, the author writes from Mila's perspective as she develops her language skills.
Good Beyond Good.......2006-04-29
This was a good book for kids that bleive in Love for water and mermaids/mermen. It kept me reading all night and every time i went to my cousins I asked for this book and when she got fed up with it she gave it to me. I still read it at least 1 a week. I think it should win the newberry award.

Dolphins at Daybreak begins the third set of four books in this magical (and increasingly popular) series! Jack and Annie are off in the Magic Tree House again, this time to a whole new world under the ocean. Complete with a giant octopus, a hungry shark, and dolphins to the rescue, this Magic Tree House book delivers an underwater adventure kids can dream about.
Customer Reviews:
MY BOY LOVES READING IT.......2007-01-07
My 1st grader hates to put it down, he would rather read Magic Tree House books, than play video games. He even reads them to his class and explains the story for show and tell. In his kindergarten class the teacher would also let him read the Magic Tree House books out loud, not to give her a break, but to promote reading out loud. Great books!
Dolphins at Daybreak is an exciting adventure!.......2006-08-05
In this story, Jack and Annie go to the beach and find a mini-submarine. They explore the ocean and learn about coral reefs. Coral reefs are made of skeletons of tiny sea creatures. Jack and Annie look out the big window of the submarine and see two dolphins. Annie names them Sukie and Sam. When they look at the submarine's computer, they find out that the submarine is cracked. They are being squeezed by an octopus. They start to swim to shore because of the cracks, but when they look back, they see a fin and think that it might be a shark. When they realize they are looking at the dolphins, they ride on the dolphins backs. The dolphins take them safely to shore and they go back home in the magic treehouse.
I liked this book a lot because it has a happy ending. I like dolphins and I wish I could ride on one like Jack and Annie. I recommend this book to kids who like dolphins and who like to read about magic. This book is also good because it teaches you about the coral reef. This is a great book to read during the summer. -by JG.

Dolphins at Daybreak.......2006-01-30
Dolphins at Daybreak is a story about two kids that go own an
adventure. The story takes place in a magic tree house with two kids named Jack and Annie.
The story starts out with Annie wanting Jack to go to the magic tree house. There they
meet Morgan Le Fay and she is the master librarian for the tree house and gives Jack and Annie
a folded piece of paper with a riddle in it and an ocean guide
book. Next Jack and Annie are in Hawaii and jump into a
mini-sub. Their sub came upon an octopus and the octopus
put his arms around the mini-sub. Then the octopus let go of
the mini-sub because sharks started to circle the mini-sub.
The mini-sub started to have problems and Jack and Annie took
it to the surface of the ocean. Whth the sharks still close
by they swim for their lives. Just as they start to tire, two
dolphins pick them up and take them to the island and reef.
Back at the reef, Annie finds an oyster on the beach. Jack
said that this oyster could be the answer to the riddle from
Morgan LeFay. Then Jack and Annie went back to the tree house
and found Morgan's scroll. It said oyster on the scroll and was
the answer to the riddle. The story ends with Jack and Annie
going to back to their house after they solved the riddle.

Book Description
Vicky Austin is filled with strong feelings as she stands near Commander Rodney's grave while her grandfather, who himself is dying of cancer, recites the funeral service. Watching his condition deteriorate as the summer passes on beautiful Seven Bay Island is almost more than Vicky can bear. To complicate things, she finds herself the center of attention for three very different boys: Leo is an old friend wanting comfort and longing for romance; Zachary, whose attempted suicide inadvertently caused the Commander's death, is attractive and sophisticated but desperately troubled; and Adam, her older brother's friend, offers her a wonderful chance to assist in his experiments with dophins but treats her as a young girl just when she's ready to feel most grown-up.
Called upon to be dependable, stable, and wise, Vicky is exhilarated but often overwhemed. Forces of darkness and light, tragedy and joy, hover about her, and at times she doesn't know whcih will prevail.
Customer Reviews:
Loved It!!.......2006-11-29
I loved this book and I would recommend it to girls from the ages 10 and up. This was a good story to connect to your life or the lives of the people around you. The things that happen to Vicky in A Ring of Endless Light might happen or may have happened to the reader. Therefore the plot of the story is believable. I would like to read another story by this author because I loved how thorough she was when describing Vicky's thoughts and feelings. When she was explaining how Vicky was seeing only darkness after a friend died in her arms, she painted a very vivid picture in my head. I thought that a Ring of Endless Light was truly a great book.
another favorite.......2006-11-13
Once again, Madeleine L'Engle has constructed a masterpiece. All her books are superb, but this one stands out to me as my absolute favorite. I understand its a Disney Channel movie now as well. I remember reading this book when I was about middle school aged and thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact, I took notes. There are several wonderful quotes that are worth remembering, and I think by the end I was left with some 10 pages of notes. I was a bit of a nerd as a kid, I guess. Still have all the papers filed away somewhere. Also memorized one of the poems to recite in my english class in about 7th grade. Fantastic book. I need to read it again.
A Ring of Endless Light.......2006-05-31
As always, Madeleine L'Engle delivers a stunning piece of fiction with `A Ring of Endless Light.' Although the main character, Vicky Austin, gives off a distinctive mary-sue air, the book (especially the guys!) are very enjoyable. Pieces of poetry found in this book are beautiful and elegant; they alone would be cause enough to read the book. `A Ring of Endless Light' also offers the reader an insight into the emotions and thoughts of a teenage girl in a fantastical setting. I would recommend this book for ages 13 and up. If you enjoyed this book, I would recommend Tiger Eyes by Judy Blume, Father Figure by Richard Peck and With You and Without You by Ann Martin as well as the rest of L'Engle's books.
A Ring of Endless Light.......2006-03-20
In Madeline L'Enlgle's A Ring of Endless Light, 15-year old Vicky goes out to visit her sick grandfather to spend some time with him. During her stay, an old family friend, Commander Rodney, dies because he was trying to save another person from dying. On top of this, three young men are trying to get her adornment. Leo, Commander Rodney' son, is the nervous and puppy like young man who needs Vicky's attention. Although he may be nice, Vicky just wants to be his friend. Adam, a young man working at the marine biology center, confuses Vicky because he likes her, but pushes her away at the same time. Zachary, the rich, young man Commander Rodney died saving, wants Vicky back and claims that he needs her. Even though she has to deal with her love life, she has to help her grandfather, and other family members. During this vacation, she learns a lot about herself, death, life, her friends and family.
I really liked this book because it is very insightful. It gives me a lot of insight about living life. I want to live my lifelike Vicky and think like her because she lives her life to her fullest poetical and is moral, unlike me. She put phrases and lessons to heart and has a way of putting things into the right words. I liked how the author also wrote about death because I know that everyone is confused about tins subject. Some people firmly believe in one thing while other people are confused and wobbling. I remember what the Madeline L'engle writes about death whenever I come across one because her words sooth and help the soul.
I dislike the fact that the characters are a bit to perfect. The Austins are a bit like robots. There is the housewife mom that loves her husband and doesn't seem to have any arguments are all with him. The father is a strong man that supports his whole family. The oldest brother, like his father, is strong and smart. The youngest sister is beautiful and smart. The youngest brother is cute and innocent. Although Vicky seems more human than her family, she is still robotic. She always tries her hardest and it seems that everyone is drawn to her. Everyone trusts her with his or her secrets and everyone in the story has a longing to be with her. She is the person that people always want to be.
My favorite part of the book is hard to decide, but I think that my favorite part is when Vicky goes and visits the dolphins. I think that this is really interesting because Vicky learns that she can communicate with dolphins. In the beginning, she is really scared, but then she realizes that there is nothing to be afraid of. Soon, she feels comfortable with Basil. She can play with the dolphin and communicate freely. Even though people can't communicate with dolphins, Vicky can because her mind is somewhat childish, open, and free. I think that this is my favorite part because Vicky's relationship with Basil is much like my relationship with my friends. When I first made my friends, we were scared and shy, but once we knew each other, we had a lot of fun. When I am with my friends, I become childish, open and free, just like Vicky.
A Ring of Endless Light.......2006-01-05
"A Ring of Endless Light" by Madeleine L'Engle is a fictional, poetic story about an almost 16-year-old girl who is spending the summer with her family and Grandfather on Seven Bay Island. Her Grandfather is battling leukeumia and a lot of this book is about handling death and questioning life.
Vicky is trying to decide between three different guys: one, Leo, who Vicky wants to just be a friend, Zachary, who drives too fast and scares Vicky most of the time, and Adam, who Vicky feels the closest too, but Adam treats her like a child just when Vicky feels like finally growing up. Confused and curious, Vicky has philosophical discussions with her family and meets Basil, Noberta, and Njord, three dolphins that she can communicate almost telepathically with.
I thought this book was very deep and meaningful because it gives a different perspective on life and death. Teenagers 12-16 would probably enjoy this book the most out of any age group.

Dolphins at Daybreak
Morgan le Fay will make Jack and Annie masters of the tree house if only they can solve four riddles -- which will take four books, of course!
Ghost Town at Sundown
Morgan le Fay has promised to make Jack and Annie masters of the tree house if they can solve four riddles. In
Ghost Town at Sundown, the Magic Tree House whisks Jack and Annie back to a ghost town in the Wild West of the 1880s. There, they meet a mustang herder named Slim as they search for the answer to the second riddle.

An Audio My Son Never Grows Tired Of Listening To On Road Trips.......2007-07-23
All of Mary Pope Osborne's books are great fun to read and listen to on audiocassette. Both my son and I never grow weary of listening . . . we know them by heart and will often repeat certain lines aloud, smiling and laughing at Jack & Annie's adventures.

Dolphin Watch.......2003-11-11
The book I chose to review is Dinotopia Dolphin Watch by John Vornholt. It is about a boy named Joshua Longacre and how he won't accept Dinotopia as his home. He only socializes with dolphins and Milos, a seaside boy. He steals a sky galley to try to get away. He also tries to persuade Milos to tell him the way off Dinotopia. I would recommend this book to a friend because it is adventurous.
Diving with dinos.......2002-11-22
Another fine Dinotopia story. This time we are treated to an undersea adventure complete with intelligent plesiosaurs. Gurney's world of people living with dinosaurs gets better with each telling.
My son loves these books, although he is starting to read at a higher level and has expanded to include the books of the Dinosaur Wars series. These are adventures with a harder edge than Dinotopia, but still suitable for teens.
