5 out of 5 stars Good way to introduce the "birds and the bees".......2007-09-01

My son and I had the best laughs reading this book; somewhat embarrasing at time but it was all out there, he was able to ask questions and it was a great way to discuss these things with him as it is with any child. I highly recommend this book for 9 or 10 year olds if your ready to discuss such things with them.

2 out of 5 stars Offers too much detail in my opinion.......2007-08-23

Although I believe this book may be suitable for some kids, I do not believe it is suitable for my son and that is why I did not give it to him. Some pages from the book actually made me turn red! It is my opinion that kids do not need to know all the details provided in this book in order to get the message of where they came from. An edited version would work better for me.

5 out of 5 stars Covers the embarressing areas.......2007-08-23

This book does a great job at explaining why grownups like to have sex. It describes the feelings, without getting lewd.

3 out of 5 stars Where Did I Come From?.......2007-08-09

My son read this in addition to another similar book, and said that this book has less information in it.

5 out of 5 stars Just the facts.......2007-07-13

Great book. I had it when I was a kid and bought it for my niece and nephew. It's just the facts. With all the sex in the media and talk on the playground I think kids deserve to know the truth.

Book Description

One rainy day in Brooklyn, Jennings Michael Burch's mother, too sick to care for him, left him at an orphanage, saying only, "I'll be right back." She never returned. Shuttled through a series of bleak foster homes and institutions, he never remained in any of them long enough to make a friend. Instead, Jennings clung to a tattered stuffed animal, his sole source of warmth in a frightening world. This is the poignant story of his lost childhood. But it is also the triumphant tale of a little boy who finally gained the courage to reach out for love-and found it waiting for him.

3 out of 5 stars Half-truths?.......2007-09-22

I liked the book, but I have internal warning lights going off as to the complete veracity of the story.

While I don't doubt that many of the abusive and neglectful things that happened to Burch did, in fact, happen to him, I can't help but have this feeling that there is some embellishment going on when it comes to some of the abuse. Sometimes the stories of cruelty seem so far-fetched, that they border on implausible (given all the characters involved in any one incident). There are also stories of being rescued from abuse that seem a little fishy.

Even more implausible however, is the philosophical wisdom of some of the children involved...like Burch's sickly brother, Jerome, or his Institution friend, Mark. These pre-teens seem to be able to impart wisdom and knowledge an a scale that most adults have a hard time embracing, even after a lifetime of existence, let alone when they were children.

I'd be willing to bet that the Author had to embellish a little in order to create some of the dialog (dialog dominates much of this book). He would have to! Who amongst us at middle-age can recall, IN DETAIL, lengthy conversations that they had when they were eight years old? But what concerns me more than needing to embellish the dialog, is this feeling I had that there are times when "fact" goes more in to the "fantasy" realm, for the sake of dramatic license. It often seems like certain scenarios have all the timing and drama of a Hollywood screenplay, as opposed to "ringing true to life".

I don't doubt that what Mr. Burch experienced as a child was indeed traumatizing and terrifying. And for that alone, it's a worthwhile read. I just have my doubts as to how much is "autobiographical" and how much is "novel" writing. How can much of what was supposedly said between Mark , Jerome and Jennings be proven anyway? Mark dies in his youth, and Jerome not very long after him (relatively speaking).

This is only an impression I'm making about this book however, as I have no proof one way or the other that there is embellishment going on. I'm just stating a gut-feeling I personally have which is born solely out of life-experience, and that's all.

But if there was embellishment for dramatic effect, I would have preferred that the Author was honest about it. And if there was none, my sincerest apologies for doubting him.

You read it and you decide. :-)

5 out of 5 stars Surviving in life........2007-07-12

This story of a little boy's surviving hardships is so sad; yet he keeps going by letting go of hatered for those who hurt him, and looking forward to a better future.

5 out of 5 stars Great book.......2007-06-09

This is my favorite book. I have read this book over the years no less than eight times......that is why I had to get a new one :-)
I highly recommend this book especially if you are like me and only like to read non-fiction.

1 out of 5 stars Do NOT Bother!!!!.......2007-03-30

This book is horrible. The story is intresting, but it becomes lost benath a style that is both immature and drab. It is clearly written by someone without any training in creative writing. I do not understand what the prevous reviewer saw in this book.

5 out of 5 stars Loved this book.......2007-02-23

I read this book many years ago when I was in 6th grade, actually my teacher read it to us. she found out that Jennings Michael Burch went to different schools around the country to talk about his life. he came to my school the following year. a few years laer when I was in 9th grade he came back, a few years before that I had written him a letter about how much I loved his book. when he came back the 2nd time he stayed at my house. we were his host family. I will never forget that. I have my autographed book with me. IF YOU HAVE NEVER READ THIS BOOK, READ IT. It will make you cry, so have a box of kleenex next to you.

Book Description

Motherhood is the world's most demanding - and rewarding - job. It's a calling that comes with incredible highs and gut-wrenching lows. How to express both the joys and challenges inherent in parenting the next generation in a way that is guaranteed to leave your audience smiling with tears in their eyes? Leave it to the one and only, Bradley Trevor Greive. In this moving and yet often side splittingly funny homage to mothers everywhere, the best-selling author has masterfully paired his insightful prose with humorous animal photography that quickly and succinctly sums up his narrative's loving nuances. A mother tiger nuzzling her cub. A basset hound with an ice bag on her head. All are fodder and focus for BTG's unique wit and wisdom. From birth to toddlers to teenagers, The Incredible Truth About Motherhood covers the many stops and starts children make on their journey to adulthood and describes how devoted mothers are both teacher and student. Of course, the book ends with a heartfelt "I love you, Mom!" on behalf of the hundreds of thousands of readers who will buy it as a Mother's Day present in the spring.Bradley Trevor Greive's previous books have been enthusiastically received in over two dozen countries throughout the world, attracting millions of readers with his trademark combination of engaging animal photography, gentle humour, and priceless perceptions. Dear Mom, for example, has sold nearly half a million copies in the year since it was published. The Incredible Truth About Motherhood should likewise rocket to the top of bestseller lists all over the planet.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars A wretched look at motherhood and families........2007-05-11

While this book may give lip-service to the joys of motherhood, in reality is is just a ode to complaining and whining. It assumes children are undisciplined with no guidance (perhaps true with the authors family but by no means universal) and that fathers are Joe-Sixpacks who are too busy to care for their families because of a national sports game. It is only at the beginning and the very end that we are given lip service to how great motherhood is.
A book like this implants messages of pain and suffering in a mother and may help her develop a martyr complex. No wonder American women are currently postponing marriage and childbearing until they are old and in their 30's.
I often sell unwanted books but I will destroy this book since I do not want to a part of perpetuating this kind of negative view of motherhood.

5 out of 5 stars Just a Darling Book About Animal Mothers.......2005-12-01

Once again I am writing a short bit about a Bradley Trevor Greive book. All of his little books with there superb photos of animals in very human situations are worth owning. They will all give you a million laughs. But I especially like this one, as it shows the trials and tribulations of mothers of all ages. Don't get me wrong, fathers will find laughs here too. I particularly like the photo of the timber wolf with her paw around her cub's shoulder. The baboon drinking bottled water is adorable too. Heck, who am I kidding, all the photos, each and every one, are adorable. I just love Mr. Grieve's books and if you have a funny bone anywhere in your body, or a tender one, you will too.

5 out of 5 stars Obviously Put Together with Great Care.......2005-05-04

My gal Sara is a photographer as is her younger sister who is expecting, so we picked up this book of incredible black & white photographs of Animals, many of them with their mothers. The first page is a gorgeous shot of a baby Polar Bear, the second a kitten who looks like she's trying to lift a barbell. There are terrific shot of puppies, monkeys, giraffes and elephants. More shots of frogs, rhinos, hippos and kangaroos. Lots more to appreciate in this little book that was obviously put together with great care. Perfect for the expectant mother, perfect for her to share with her child later on too.

5 out of 5 stars only mothers can understand this GREAT BOOK!!.......2004-04-28

I just read another review from an expecting woman with her first child and was sad to hear that she was depress after reading this fabulous book. Honestly women have no idea to what being a MOTHER is until you are one!!! this book was a blessing to me as now I know that in some aspects of raising a child, I am not the only one who thinks that some days are horrible! I am buying these books for my mohter & mother in law this year for mothers day and I know that since they are MOTHERS they will be able to understand and appreciate this book and reflect on the wonderfull journey that they have as MOTHERS! THIS BOOK MAKES MOTHERS HAPPY EVEN WHEN THE GOING IS TOUGH AND I RECCOMEND THAT YOU GET IT FOR ALL YOUR MOTHERS!!!

5 out of 5 stars Another winner in this collection.......2004-03-11

I love every book this man has put out! The pictures are priceless but then you add the little comments at the bottom and they become hysterical. I found the comment from the lady who's mom bought her the book because she was expecting her first child very comical and have a feeling that once she has that child, she will find the humor in the book because almost every single page has happened at one point or another if you have children. Kids are hard work but they are also the single most important thing you'll ever do and are an endless source of joy. I give these books as gifts a lot and they always bring a smile and most of the time, burtst of laughter.

This book is appreciated by my son (5 Years) and me. However he is not very enthusiatic about this book or CD.

5 out of 5 stars Powerful & Easy to Understand Self Esteem Lesson for Children.......2006-09-18

First I will begin by listing the programs/CD's/books that I have purchased from Lite Books. 4 books: A Boy and a Bear, The Affirmation Web, A Boy and a Turtle and The Goodnight Caterpillar plus 5 audio CDs: Indigo Dreams, Indigo Ocean Dreams, Indigo Dreams: Garden of Wellness, Indigo Teen Dreams and Indigo Dreams: Adult Relaxation plus: Children's Stress Awareness Curriculum Designed for Youth Education.
Next I will say "THEY ARE ALL AMAZING!" For 9 years I worked as an advocate for children in a homeless shelter for women and children. I was constantly challenged with finding resources that were short, effective, and held the attention of the children. I was able to find resources but not all in one spot, I had to piece a little of this and a little of that to reach a fully rounded program that worked. The tools that Lori Lite created within each book and each CD offer short, highly effective programs that hold the attention of children. And best of all it is a package deal! You do not have to pull from any other program because the tools that she gives you are all you need. I am now an HHP and use the books and CD's when working with children of any age to simply give them powerful tools that they can use in daily life and hopefully carry into teen and adult hood. In my opinion Lite Books offer the best resources available to the health and wellness of children on the market. Within my own life I use the CD's as a nightly staple within the bedtime process of my children. They have not been able to stay awake long enough to finish even one of the stories on the CD yet. That is how relaxing the CD's are. For myself I have to stay sitting up when tucking them in and listening with them because if I get comfortable I am waking up in the middle of the night still in my kid's room! During daylight hours and when my children are well rested I have worked each session on the CD's with them from beginning to end. Now when they are feeling overwhelmed, frightened, angry etc... I will see them use the techniques they have learned through Loris programs, they move quickly from the negative feeling to a positive approach and positive result.
Lite Books offers professional and friendly customer service, with great shipping time. I am so grateful to have found this amazing resource and look forward to being one of their strongest professional advocates as well as personal customers!

5 out of 5 stars Great Self Esteem Builder.......2006-02-23

My daughters self esteem had been low and this book helped her look at the positive good things about herself. Great confidence building tool to review all the good qualities that my child can find in herself.
Love all Lori Lites books. Recommend them highly.....

5 out of 5 stars How awsome for the children!.......2006-02-03

Being a Massage Therapist and relaxation coach. I find this book and other Lori Lite books to be refreshing, for the simple fact that the message sent to our children is that the connection of thier minds & body is something of great Ahhhh. And plus giving them another oppertunity to observe thier own spirit is pricless. Luvem'

5 out of 5 stars life transforming.......2005-09-02

I am familiar with many of the authors books and CDs,so I ordered The Affirmation Web. As an adult,I was skeptical when I first looked at how basic this story was, but I was quickly proven wrong by my child. He caught on to the direct,no fluff approach to affirmations.
It was thrilling to see my child say he liked himself. This is quite a turn around from how he usually critiques himself.

He also enjoys the relaxing way that the story is written. It is very melodic. The author truly writes to impress the child, not the adult.

5 out of 5 stars I see light at the end of the tunnel.......2006-09-25

I am so thankful for this book.I was desperatley searching for help. I ordered 3 books. Two were beautiful paperbacks and then this little paper back. I threw it aside because i didnt like the way it looked (small book and printing was small) After reading the 1st 2 and being very disapointed i finally picked up this one, and i was hooked. For once a book that not only offers suggestions but gives you steps to accomplish them. My son is 7 and adopted (at birth)has ADHD, ODD and some fetal alcohol problems. Nothing seemed to work and i was losing all hope of ever having any peace in our home. The hold down method seemed somewhat extreme but i had no luck with making him stay in time out. I decided to do exactly what the author suggested and i was determined to take it as far as i needed. I had to hold him for a solid 2 1/2 hours the first time. He tryed biting, cursing, spitting and anythng else he could do to get me angry. He was shocked that nothing he could do seemed to upset me. (on the outside anyway)The rest of the day went well. The next morning i was praying that he wouldn't hit anyone again because i was so sore i wasn't certain i could hold him down. Well, he did and i had to hold him again. This time i only had to do so for 1 hour and 10 minutes, the next day 20 minutes and that was 6 weeks ago. I havent had to do it again until yesterday, and that one was an amazing 5 minutes. He has been more loving toward me than i could ever imagine. He wants to be with me and it is enjoyable. The book suggests that you use this with only 1 or 2 of the biggest issues. Ours was hitting anyone he walked by. This is to establish authority in the home. Children with ODD tend to put themslves on the same level as adults. Children need to be secure knowing that they have boundries. I used to let him get away with things because i couldn't find away to keep him from it. I walked on eggshells to keep any confrontation from happening. I am certain now that he wasn't secure and was crying out for me to set boundries for him. My have big hopes for my son. He is the next generation and i cannot allow him to continue down that road of destruction. It may seem extreme to some but ODD is not just being hard to get along with. It's the toughest thing i have ever dealt with. I have 3 married children, have fostered 52 and adopted 3. ODD is real and one of the hardest types to deal with. You are not sterotyping your child but doing something for him that will enable him to get along in the real world. God doesn't let his children get away with things. The Bible says that the Lord disciplines those he loves. It isn't alway plesant but it is always for our best. I ordered another for my sons teacher. Of course there are things she can't do but many others she can and we can work together.

5 out of 5 stars Worth owning.......2006-09-08

I happened upon this book at the library when I was desperately trying to deal with my 2 yr-old's tantrams, hitting, unsocial behavior. I think it is fabulous. As many others have said here, the authors offer great techniques and the couple of pages of "brain dead phrases" appear to be incredibly useful for now and for the future. I found many of the ideas in here so important that I want to own the book so I can refer to it any time. I also have a feeling those "brain dead" phrases are going to be a life-saver as my daughter grows up. Definitely get this book if you need some great ideas to help refocus your parenting skills, time, effort and want to change your child's anti-social frustrating behavior.

5 out of 5 stars Solid Practical Advice.......2006-05-16

Our 8YO was recently diagnosed with PDD (a form of autism) and his psychologist recommended this book. I'm usually skeptical about these things, so I was a little hesitant. But I'm happy to say that the advice in this book was very good. I like the idea of parents having the tools to cope with difficult children while not having to resort to physical punishment or yelling. It's all about keeping your cool and being 1-step ahead of your difficult child (who as in our case, and in probably most cases, is highly intelligent and knows exactly how to press buttons). The best thing we could do for our children (especially the difficult ones) is teach them responisibility and consequences for their actions....either that, or they'll learn it the hard way in the "real world". I've already recommended this book to friends and will continue to do so.

5 out of 5 stars Susan Ashley, Ph.D. Author of The ADD and ADHD Answer Book.......2005-11-01

As a child psychologist who deals with the most difficult of children I save "Try and Make Me" when all else has failed. Parents who are at the end of their rope will find unique ideas in this book. It is best used with the help of a child psychologist who can help you put the techniques into action effectively and guide you along the way. If you have to use this book, you probably could use a professional to help you.

4 out of 5 stars I WISH.......2007-08-28

that the stuffing didn't show through each picture - but I'll just use smaller needles and make smaller animals- the construction is very quick and easy, and the animals are all very cute so it still gets a high vote from me

3 out of 5 stars Knitted Animals.......2007-06-19

Happy with my book but it took the longest time to receive it and when I wrote to them to ask the status of my order, did not get any response from them.

4 out of 5 stars Inspiring, not overly instructional.......2007-06-04

The animals are adorable, and the patterns easy to understand for the most part. I will have to gain some skills to execute most of them since the book doesn't give directions on the more advanced stuff.

The book relies on cuteness and I think its one of the cutest ones out there. No dragons or people in here, there's kittens and dogs, bears, ducks, chickens, bunnies, and hedgehogs among others.

This book from Denmark assumes that the reader knows a few techniques without ever illustrating them. The animals are darling, but when trying to make a duck's beak, the reader is asked to fashion it out of orange yarn in "overlapping buttonhole stitch so a round duck-like beak emerges."

What? I don't know overlapping buttonhole stitch! Go to the glossary to find out, and there are explanations of garter stitch and stocking stitch, increasing and decreasing.....no mention of the other techniques called for.

This book is very worthwhile, but be ready to look some techniques up elsewhere. Not all of the animals require the more advanced methods, so I can get started right away.

USE WITH KIDS: It is written in a story book voice. There's no story, per se, but the reader is told that the dog may need a collar and leash if he is too wild, and so on.

4 out of 5 stars An easy start to knitting stuffed animals!.......2007-05-14

This book is a great way to get started knitting stuffed animals. This book has easy to follow instructions and drawings of what the finished parts look like before assembly. The animals are all between 4-7 inches long. I had knit scarves before, but never anything much more complicated. I knit my first project- the sheep- in about 3 hours. And it was very cute! The little dog I knit for my second project was spunky and sweet looking at the same time. My one complaint is that I can't quite figure out how the tummies of the animals are supposed to be formed during the assembly- if you follow the directions exactly, you wouldn't be able to stuff the legs through the tummies. To fix this, I made little knit swaths (1 x 3 inches) to form the tummy. But this is an easy fix!
I would recommend this to anyone interested in making small-scale stuffed animals.

4 out of 5 stars Pricey but very nice.......2007-03-29

I just got this book two days ago and I've already made the hen, rooster and chicks--yes, they are that simple! I really like the simplicity of the patterns as they lend themselves to adaptation by the knitter to make almost anything the imagination can dream up. Indeed, as the author is a teacher at a Waldorf school, she encourages children to learn to knit and to use these simple patterns themselves.

Increase the gauge and size of yarn and the patterns could be easily felted in the washing machine to create even more sturdy little figures. The size of the finished animals is just right for a child's hands. They're absolutely perfect! I love the fact that the author uses and suggests the use of natural fibers for her projects. I find it absolutely endearing to read that the materials list calls for, "duck colored yarn", "goose colored yarn" and "hairy yarn." With directions like that, the sky's the limit for the knitter's imagination. Such a nice contrast to the typical directions that call for a specific color of a specific brand of designer yarn that may or may not be available by day's end.

Finally, small projects like this are valuable in teaching the new or frustrated knitter to do that finishing work that so many of us detest. These little projects provide a wonderful opportunity for learning to sew invisible seams and create crisp corners.

My only complaint about this book is the price. I've never paid nearly $30 for a knitting book without seeing it first, but this one caught my fancy--what can I say, I'm addicted. Even at the high price, I think this little gem will pay for itself in short order and I'll certainly not return it. Excellent resource as those grandchildren begin to appear in the future!

5 out of 5 stars Adorable Hares.......2007-01-09

I bought this item for my baby nephew to give along with the "Guess How Much I Love You" book and pajamas. It was adorable, soft, and cuddly, and even my brother--a "man's man"--said it was "cute."

3 out of 5 stars Product ShippingReview.......2007-01-06

I would love to review the actual product itself however, I am unable to do so as the product was never delivered. I ordered it as a gift for my sister who lives in Canada. I was assured shipment to Canada was possible. When the product did not arrive after 4 weeks I contacted Amazon. They could not locate the product. They agreed to resend the product. Again after 4 weeks the product did not arrive and Amazon could not locate it. At this Amazon offered to refund the product and I took them up on the offer. This is not a review then but rather a warning about purchasing this product for shipment to an address from a country other than the US.

5 out of 5 stars A precious gift.......2006-03-16

I bought several of these as gifts, for my grandchildren and some friends. Better with the book added to the package. The hares enhance the impact of the story! You will be getting a great gift for anyone you choose to buy for!

5 out of 5 stars Darling and sweet.......2007-06-20

Every book in this series is so adorable. Each one tugs at your heart and captures a true emotion.

Priceless.

5 out of 5 stars Heartwarming.......2007-03-20

Could not put it down. The inherent wisdom in this book amazed me. I bought several copies and gave them to all of my siblings. This book is a true treasure.

3 out of 5 stars Good inspiration for writing mom a thank you note.......2007-03-15

This narrative is full of black and white photographs of animals, most of which are young. The writing is on the generic side for gift books as Greive recounts broad experiences typically shared between mothers and their children not clearly showing what "everything" is. The tone of the writing feels akin to a letter that has been broken up to a sentence or phrase per picture/page, though the enjambment is well distributed offering a poetic feel to each passage. Overall this makes a fine book as a thank you gift but shouldn't be a substitute for a sincere, heartfelt note thanking a mother for her lifelong commitment of love and defining what "everything" really is. In fact, the text is a strong source of inspiration for writing this kind of mother thank you note.

2 out of 5 stars nice, but not very fitting.......2007-01-11

While the pictures were kind of cute and the message endearing, there were many parts of it that did not really realte to my relationship with my mother. Some parts are too specific to the author's relationship with his mother so that it may not make sense if you were to give it to your mother.

5 out of 5 stars Stunning Animal Photography.......2006-12-14

Any of Greive's books are good for gifts. His photographs really match the literature beneath each photo and will make one feel more human again and able to recall what's really important in life.

4 out of 5 stars Good math ideas, but should be a workbook.......2007-04-19

There's honestly nothing wrong with this book. A lot of reviewers have used it and found it helpful for their children. My problem is that it's written for children, but it's in an adult format, meaning it's in a hard bound book measuring about 5" by 8" and written in a fairly small type. My 6 year old would have trouble reading "Harry Potter" by herself, she'd have a hard time reading this one too. The writing is at about the same level. And yet the book starts out with kindergarten and 1st grade level work. The book is written in a way that you could read the games and stories to your kindergarten aged child, but the presentation isn't kindergarten level, it's more 2nd grade level.

I wish the book was in a workbook form, with a lot of child-friendly illustrations and places to write. Instead you either have to have your child write in pencil and erase, or photocopy each exercise to keep the book clean. It isn't just that I'm a clean freak, writing in a book this thick isn't easy, especially for a 6 year old.

In the end the math concepts, games and fun drawings could draw children in and get them excited about math, but the book form and presentation could be much more child friendly.

5 out of 5 stars Making numbers make sense!.......2002-11-12

Mr.Flansburg's methods of stressing basic math skills are new and important before algebra or higher math will make sense. His new web site thehumancalculator.com also offers more information about his goal to wipe out innumeracy. He taught me it's never to late to conquer math phobia and fulfill my career goals that never materialized because of math avoidance.

4 out of 5 stars Confused on age level.......2001-07-26

The book was ok however, I wanted a book for older students. This is recommended for 6 th 8 year olds. The book is in an easy to read format and has breaks to complete exercises to practice what you learned.

5 out of 5 stars In a math-phobic era more people should read this book!!.......1999-07-19

I homeschool my kids who like the ideas behind math but find drilling real agony!!! They are beginning to see the fun in it and don't mind repetition any more. Thanks and praise to Scott Flansberg!!!

5 out of 5 stars Fascinatingly different from traditional textbook math.......1998-07-19

Though math was never a problem for me, I discovered that this book not only made math easier and faster, but it also caused the numbers to take on some practical meaning. I recommend the book for anyone who wants to understand the reason numbers work.

5 out of 5 stars Incredibly sweet book.......2007-07-27

I absolutely LOVE this book. It shows so many different animals nursing their little ones in such sweet pictures with such a sweet ending pic of a human baby nursing with mama. I will most definitely read this one to my little one over and over again, and hope that he learns to love it as one of his favorite books.

4 out of 5 stars Nice book about nursing.......2006-11-07

It's hard to find books about nursing, rather than bottle feeding and this one was recommended in "Mothering" Magazine, so I decided to buy it. It shows all kinds of animals nursing, with a short explanation and on the last page it shows a human baby nursing. My daughter really likes it and brings it to me often to read it to her. The illustrations are rather simple and each page just has one or two sentences, but she still enjoys it (she's 22 mo. old now)!

3 out of 5 stars Review for "We Like To Nurse".......2006-07-29

A very sweet book, however I expected a bit more "book" for the price. It is a small, thin, paperback book. While I am always excited to see books that show/normalize breastfeeding, I would not recommend this book to others. Again, it's sweet but lacking sparkle and shine.

4 out of 5 stars A Good Kids Breastfeeding Book.......2006-07-23

This is a nice simple book for younger children which shows animals nursing. It gives real situations and actual facts while still being an entertaining book. Great for older nursing children.

5 out of 5 stars Sweet Book .......2006-05-30

This book is very sweet. There are some wonderful pictures of various living creatures feeding and nourishing their young. It is so important to teach children that nursing is the most natural and normal gift you can give to a child. This book does just that.
