Book Description
By the big red barn
In the great green field,
There was a pink pig
Who was learning to squeal.
There were horses and sheep and goats and geese--and a jaunty old scarecrow leaning on his hoe. And they all lived together by the big red barn. In joyous and exuberant
Pictures, Felicia Bond lovingly evokes Margaret Wise Brown's simple, rhythmic text about the cycle of a day on a farm, where a family of animals peacefully plays and sleeps.
In the barnyard there are roosters and cows, horses and goats, and a pink piglet who is learning to squeal. Margaret Wise Brown's lulling story about a day in the life of a barnyard is now available as a sturdy board book. Felicia Bond's atmospheric illustrations add to the tranquil simplicity of this story.

Great learning book!.......2007-08-01
Our 18 month old daughter loves this book. Easy to read, easy for her to follow. We enjoy it at bedtime. Words and pictures teach animals, some numbers, colors, etc. Much to gain from this book! Highly recommend!
One of our favorites!.......2007-06-14
This book is such a classic. My kids love it, but it is also one of my favorites. As with most Margaret W. Brown books, the words just flow and capture the kids' attention. My son loves horses, so he really loves the pictures of the farm animals. I like this book even more than "Goodnight Moon."
Better Offerings Out There.......2007-05-13
The illustrations in this book are good but too small in the board book format for little ones. If you really want this book, purchase the traditional sized hardback edition.
Love this book!.......2007-05-12
I can recite this book by heart and so can my 2 1/2 year old grand daughter. Sometimes we will be driving or playing in the yard and I will start reciting and she will join in. At night when you read it together and look at the beautiful pictures, it calms you and relaxes you (and the child) and gets you set for a nice nights sleep. I can not give it more then 5 stars but I would if I could. Every good grandmother should have this in her arsenal!
Great Book.......2007-05-09
This is a great book to read to your child beginning at an early age. The colors are wonderful for them to look at. As you read the story you can teach them all about farm animals. Highly recommend this book to all parents.

great book, but supply your own common sense.......2007-10-03
This is a great book, with lots of helpful ideas on ways to clean naturally (and effectively--always important!). She has a more recent book, but this one beats all for its long listing of ways to treat various stains. My only complaint is that sometimes her definition of toxic varies from mine (for instance, she acknowledges that an ounce of borax may be toxic for a 150-lb. person, but then calls for that in many recipes anyway, and she recommends alum in a place or two even though it contains aluminum), and that she's lacking in common sense in a couple of places. A prime example of the latter was one of her recommendations for treating berry stains: from a height of three feet, pour boiling water onto fabric that's stretched tight. Aiaiai! That recipe is almost guaranteed to cause burns, and I'm surprised she lists it, since she also says that MILK will remove berry stains. So it's a great resource, but remember to bring your own common sense to the table when using it.
Missing web addresses.......2007-03-31
This is a good book but none of the companies she mentions have web addresses which would be very helpful.
lots of info.......2007-03-26
This was a big help and had everything I needed answers to.
Very informative although difficult at times to follow.......2006-09-25
I've had this book for quite awhile, actually for a year now and find that it is an excellent reference for green cleaning. Annie provides not only home-made recipes but recommendations for ready-made green products that you can find either online or at your health food store; as well as references to ingredients and resources for additional reading. This was actually the first book that I read about green cleaning and it spurred me on to seek more information and change my house-keeping and cleaning products and habits entirely. For the beginner, though, I would recommend "Clean House, Clean Planet" as it is more instructional as to how to properly mix the ingredients to get the best results.
This small book tends to be overwhelming in its amount of information and sometimes the recipes can be hard to find when you're in a hurry and looking for a particular item. But all in all, like her other book "Better Basics For The Home", it is a gem that would be a wonderful addition to anyone's green clean library.
Info for M. Windsor and others who don't know.......2006-08-22
Grape seed oil is a good source of vitamin E. Both vitamin C and E are used as preservatives because they are anti-oxidants (prevents oxidation or rotting). Check out the labels on the organic or high end "natural" pet foods and you will clearly see them used as preservatives. Sodium chloride (salt) is a preservative (think bacon) and causes water retention and that's why chefs typically use unsalted butter and then add sea salt as needed. So the author of this book was correct.

How does a brand--a company or one of its products--stand out in an ever-louder and more chaotic marketplace? Why do customers develop intense and lasting bonds with some products they consume, but not others? What do winning brands do better than their competitors? Generations of marketers have pondered these questions, and Married to the Brand offers thought-provoking answers.
Based on 60 years of research from the Gallup Organization, the book combines a thoughtful, data-driven approach with a playful metaphor. Author and Gallup researcher William McEwen sees customers' interactions with brands as markedly similar to the in-depth, extended relationships we see in marriages. From his opening pages, McEwen draws parallels between customers' feelings about brands and romantic relationships. For example, he points to the differences between "dating" and "long-term engagement". He explains how both commercial and romantic relationships require trust to start and build, but passion to flourish and sustain. He describes situations in which people might fall in love, then later seek a "divorce".
Like other recent classics about brand marketing, like Scott Bedbury's A New Brand World and Al and Laura Ries' The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding, McEwen's book makes good use of anecdotal personal examples. He uses stories about individual consumers' interactions with the Starbucks (coffee) or Morton's (salt) brands, for example, to illustrate one of his central points: that brands grow not just from products, but from an overall customer experience which may include the original advertising that first drew attention to the brand, personal memories tied to the product, interactions with sales staff, the appearance and location of the physical store in which the product was purchased, and so on. He summarizes by describing a framework of "5 P's" that drive customers' perceptions of brands: product, place, promotion, price, and people.
Taken as a whole, this book's lessons provide a provocative and interesting rethinking of brand management for marketers in a wide variety of industries. As McEwen himself writes, emotions connected to brands "aren't merely warm and fuzzy, nor should they be relegated to the world of greeting card poetry and Hollywood scripts. Emotions are both powerful and profitable, whether a company is marketing hamburgers or microprocessors." McEwen challenges his readers to build their brands patiently, over time. He attacks the conventional wisdom behind most companies' customer relationship management (CRM) or loyalty-marketing programs. Perhaps most importantly, he is realistic in stating from the book's outset that even the best brands will engage only a minority of their customers in true "marriage"-like relationships. But for the readers willing to invest the effort, in this book and then in the brand building that follows, the payoff appears worthwhile. --Peter Han
Book Description
Although American companies spend a staggering $500 billion on advertising annually, many fail to establish an emotional connection with consumers. Married to the Brand examines why some companies develop this most desirable consumer connection, and why others don't. Using Gallup's 60 years of global consumer data and tons of consumer stories, William McEwen shows that many marketers are great at wooing a "first date" with consumers, but only the best can create a lasting marriage between buyer and brand. The book explores how emotions such as confidence, integrity, pride, and passion can make consumers want to stand by a brand, and shows how skillful brand management can keep a consumer-brand marriage fresh and satisfying. Tools to rate Engagement Potential and Customer Engagement are also provided, allowing marketers to quickly and objectively rate their own brand's performance.

Chapters survey pride levels, common brand dilemmas, and more........2007-01-07
Why do some consumers bond to brand names for life? Sixty years of Gallup research into consumer habits and their psychology lend to MARRIED TO THE BRAND: WHY CONSUMERS BOND WITH SOME BRANDS FOR LIFE. Many marketers work on first impressions without considering the reasons why consumers will stick with a brand. MARRIED TO THE BRAND tells how the most successful marketer not only creates the bond, but strengthens it over the years so that consumers come to equate the brand with quality and value. Chapters survey pride levels, common brand dilemmas, and more.

Great understanding of a Brand.......2006-03-16
This book gives you a good insight about a brand and the marriage it has with its customers. Its very easy to read and enjoyable.
Based on Sixty Years of Research.......2006-01-11
Dr. McEwen is a consultant with the Gallup polling people. For over sixty years they have researched brands and branding. In this book he analyzes and explains what he has discovered.
His comparison is that branding is a lot like marrying. It is a merger of company and customer and both have obligations to the other. The company has most of the responsibilities because they are the ones that have the power to change things that attract or drive away the customer. But like any marriage, the customer also has the obligation to buy the brand so long as it meets their needs.
And if brands are a marriage, he also talks about divorce. My family has always used Crest toothpaste. I go to the store, I want the same old Crest I used as a kid. Now there's Gel Crest, Mint Crest, Crest with special this, and special that. New is a magic word in marketing, but I don't want NEW, I want the same old stuff I had before. I honestly couldn't tell which was the same old stuff. I bought Colgate.
Sears was a great brand, then they went all goofy. But the Craftsman brand of Sears tool has held it's place. I bought some tools for Christmas presents. They were Craftsman -- but it was the only thing I bought in the Sears store.
This is the best book on understanding brands and branding I've ever seen.
About time.......2005-12-04
Disney has a brand loyalty that is the envy of Hollywood. (Ever hear anyone say, "Let's go see the lastest Columbia movie?" But ask a dad on Saturday what he's doing, and you may hear, "Taking the kids to the new Disney flic.") How did they do it? And how can they keep it?
This book delves into the mystery of brand loyalty with interesting anecdotes and examples from the marketing kings: McDonalds in America, Coca Cola in Asia, and of course, Disney. But the author doesn't pull punches. McDonalds marketing, once so effective, now reeks of 40 year olds in suits trying to sound "hip." That's where the book is well worth a read: the author's discussion of how brand loyalty is built is carefully balanced with how it can be lost.
Fascinating reading for anyone--marketing pros or consumers who enjoy the ride.
A Great Read For Anyone!.......2005-10-14
This book is a great read for market researchers and the general population alike. Dr. McEwen has put together a truly compelling "tale" of how certain brands entice followings, and how or why said followings are either maintained and groomed, or discarded. A fascinating cultural study, as well as a meticulous scientific one, this is a great present for anyone who's ever wondered how Disney or Coca Cola has come to the prominence they enjoy today. To have put together so much information in such a fun, readable way is Dr. McEwen's true gift, and he should be lauded for it. Bravo!

Classic story that gets read over and over in our house.......2004-01-30
Fantastic story, amazing illustrations. My daughters and I have both loved this book from the first time that we read it. The story is sweet and you just want this little girl's day to last forever. A must read, over and over.
a favorite in our house.......2003-09-03
This book reminds me so much of when I was a little girl and went with my mother to run errands. Back then the stores really did hand out keyrings and pocket calendars and my Grandma worked at a dry cleaner so I got to see the "magic machine" a lot when people picked up their clothes. My girls both love this book, even though the oldest is now 13. We have completely worn out the binding of the hardback copy we have!
Fantastic!~.......2002-01-25
This is truly a wonderful book!
This story is told by the little girl who is going to town with her mother for the morning.
She has a big green pocketbook, just like Mama's, but hers is empty and she can't find anything to put inside it.
Mama says "hurry", because the bus is coming, so the little girl brings her empty pocketbook along anyway.
During the course of the morning, she gathers many treasures and by the time the bus comes to return the girl and her mother home, her pocketbook is full.
The little girl's view of the world is refreshing and enchanting~
She observes that the cool marble walls in the bank smell like pennies~ And she is amazed that, at the drycleaners, the machine knows exactly where to stop for mama's suit.
This is a delightful book that moms and daughters will enjoy, but both boys and girls will like hearing it, and seeing the usual best from Candice Ransom and Felicia Bond's awesome pictures.
Big Green Pocketbook's a hit.......2001-07-09
My 22 month old daughter loves to read this book with me! i think she likes that the main character is a big girl and she's spending the day with her mom- something my little one can really relate to!
Lovely bond between mom and daughter.......2000-08-29
This is a wonderful book for mothers to read to or with their daughters. A simple day of errands turns into something magical between them and a hand-me-down green pocketbook holds the key to a delightful day.

Customer Reviews:
excellent follow up.......2007-10-11
This is a very good book that is a perfect follow up to "How to cast our demons." It is not really about deliverance, it is more of an insight to how the problems began. I have already recommended that my church buy several copies for the "bookstore."
Longlasting problems........2007-09-10
Several persons contributed to this book. Interesting. Creates a desire for more information. References are made for other materials available for the reading. Good book. Won't regret having or reading this book.
A Must Read.......2007-06-27
I knew before I read the book that it would be a book worth buying. The contributors alone gave me a clear message that this was a book to add to my vast library. I found that it was informative and gave an indept view from those who are experienced in their topic. Due to my ministry to women, I search for information to further my effectiveness. I gained quite a bit from the chapter on Trauma. I have listed this book on my suggested reading for my women's leadership conference.
Thorough!.......2007-01-05
This is an extremely thorough book. It deals with various aspects of oppression and also the areas to gain freedom.
I refer to it quite frequently. It is not just a book from one person's perspective but Wagner has allowed those who have been set free and ministered in the specific areas to share their testimony and insight.
How to minister Freedom.......2006-08-24
This is the second copy of this book I have had. I keep giving them away and everyone seems to receive from them. It is a great reference book to have on your bookshelf after you have benefited from it the first time. I recomend it to anyone that is in the ministry or is an intercessor in prayer.

Customer Reviews:
Wow - prepare to be inspired.......2003-02-03
This book is amazing. With a full-time job and a toddler, I need a book I can pick up and read a little at a time. I found myself thinking about this book all day and pouring through it each night. I love to travel, but haven't been able too as much as I'd like in recent years. This book not only makes me feel as though I've been on an adventure - several! - but it has inspired me to make mental notes of where I will be off to on my next trip. The great thing about the stories is the feeling that with a little motivation, any reader could be the next to take a trip and write a story. A great pick-me-up, there's-so-much-out-there-to-experience, carpe-diem, kick-in-the-patooty book! I highly recommend it.
Hokey and cliched........2001-06-05
I bought this book to accompany me on a long trip, and wished I hadn't. The stories are very similar to each other, with platitudes of the 'my eyes met with the old woman in the rice paddy, and something wordless was exchanged' variety. I know there are better examples out there: why couldn't the editor find them?
Step out of your comfort zone.......2001-05-13
Ride a horse through China. Trek in Nepal. Ride on the back of a motorcycle from California to Northeast Canada. These women are adventurous... yet are normal women with real fears. After reading this book you'll have the courage to be more independent and challenge-seeking. The stories range from the thrill-seekers (think African safari) to conservative travellers (such as going to Gatlinburg for a weekend with the girls)...but illustrates that stepping out of your comfort zone means different things to different women. It's the effort that counts.
The Best of the Best.......2000-07-26
In a hurry, I pulled this gem off the shelf and took it to work for lunch time adventures. Inside of a page I realized I'd read it a couple of years ago, but I never turned back. Bond collected no near misses; every story in this volume is outstanding. Its full of longing, rough and tumble, sensitive bonding, self-realization, hilarious mix-ups, reality checkpoints, stark terror and pain, transcendance, and pride of achievement--all crammed into a heavy volume you don't want to end. Read it. Read it again.
Armchair Travel.......1999-06-30
I cannot begin to describe the kind of armchair travel this book put me through. I felt like I was traveling places not knowing where I would end up next. At the turn of a page where would I land? It was sensational. I plan to read many more travel books because of this one. Because I am only thirteen I also plan to see where on this wonderful globe my heart takes me. It's because of this book that I have such hopes and dreams.
Book Description
Get Untied from Your Past
Sex is like glue. Super human glue. Inside marriage, God designed it to be a bond that is powerful and unifying. Outside of marriage, the bonds of sex can be devastating. Long after the lover is gone, the bond we’ve created stays with us, negatively impacting our lives and future relationships. Now, through an impressive combination of Scripture and scientific research, Barbara Wilson shows how God designed us to be uniquely bonded through sex. But even more so, she concentrates on the tangible hope that is yours. This book will equip you not only to break those bonds, but to embrace a new, abandoned, wise, and thankful heart.
You’ve had sex.
But now sex has you.
It’s a past that haunts the present. Sabotaged relationships, low self-esteem, sexual dysfunction, an empty spiritual life. Sex will bind you up and tie you down. Why? It’s just sex.
But âjust sexâ means your body, soul, mind, and spirit have become one with another. Released from a past of her own, Barbara Wilson now combines scientific research with Scripture to offer striking new insights about what sexual bonding is, why it is harmful, and how to move freely into your future. Complete with a study guide for group or personal use, The Invisible Bond is your hands-on tool for changing not your pastâ¦but your life.
âBarb’s honesty and vulnerability will inspire you to let God do in your life what He has done in hers, mine, and millions of other lives. He has set us free from self-defeating guilt and shame, helped us embrace our sexuality rather than fear it, and taught us how to enjoy genuinely healthy, intimate relationships. If that sounds appealing to you, then you hold the right book in your hands.â
Shannon Ethridge
Bestselling author of the Every Woman’s Battle series
Story Behind the Book
As abstinence director and educator for a Sacramento pregnancy center, Barbara Wilson talks to wounded and bleeding hearts every day. They’ve lost the war on sexual purity and the daily consequences are their reality. All they want is hopeâhope that they can be free from the pain and shame that their past drags into their present and future. This book reveals the negative impact of sexual bonding and offers steps to freedom from past sexual and emotional bonds. But even more, it offers new direction for the free heart, and how to embrace an abandoned, overflowing life!
Customer Reviews:
Freedom, Forgiveness, and Healing.......2007-08-14
This book is the best book I have read about past sexual relationships and how to break the bonds that seem to never let go. Barb's story is truthful, honest, and, at times, painful. The book shows all of us how God can take a broken and wounded woman and turn her into a messenger of God. If you have ever had thoughts or images from past relationships with people or photographic/video images that you cannot seem to release, please buy this book. It will help you get rid of the images and the shame associated with them -- forever! Your freedom is right around the corner...
Real answers for how to heal from your sexual past.......2007-07-22
This book has real answers for the past that haunts you. It touches on how the past intrudes on the present to hurt every relationship and how the lies of the sexual revolution have contributed to the pain of today. Angry? Guilty? Want help? This book is for you.
Awesome Resource.......2007-06-09
This book gives a more comprehensive approach to dealing with your sexual past. It doesn't just give counseling information, but it also gives spiritual issues that need to be addressed (such as breaking soul ties) as well as relational information that can be used to walk out of the shame and heartbreak the past can many times shroud our lives with.

There are going to be a LOT of marks. I love this book.
