This is a great book. The things I read about Jacks,I had no idea about. It fits them to a tee. This is my secound Jack Russel and my daughter has one that chases aliens on the ceiling(shadows).

This book is written in a 'jump to' format you don't have to read it cover to cover to find information important to you. It gives you great information on selecting, training and basic care of the Jack Russell Terrier bread.

This is a basic, no-nonsense guide to owning a Jack Russell. At the very least, you'll know what you're in for. DO take the author's advice seriously. Owning a Jack Russell is serious business! Your dog will need a large yard, lots of love and attention, exercise and *patience*!! I realize I am editorializing over the book here - she pretty much covers everything you need to know.

My family recently got a Jack Russell Terrier as a pet. Having owned other dogs before, we were in for a suprise when it came to training and behavior. Jack Russell's are very high energy dogs that require either a lot of room to run or people to play with them. This book was very helpful in detailing certain behaviors that my puppy exhibited and how to deal with them. The book goes into details of the breed, explaining the history and attitudes that are commonly displayed. Well worth the price, I have read it twice and it has helped the rearing of my puppy tremendously.

This is a very helpful book, well organized so it is very easy to find what you are looking for.
Like the book says, Jack Russells aren't for everyone. They are brilliant. That means they can think of much more trouble to get into. They will never bore you. But if you don't like excitement, get a cocker spaniel.

This book lets you get to know the exciting and roudy Jack Russell Terrier. My wife and I purchased this book prior to purchasing our JRT. It was (and still is) a wonderful resource. Anything for grooming, training and enjoying your pup is in this book. The author also includes stories from her past ownership of many Jack Russells. Excellent book!

This is an excellent resource tool for Jack Russell terrier owners to folks who just happen to love the breed. A spirited, loving dog, the Jack Russell terrier more often than not makes for a very appealling family pet.

Jacks have an interesting history. Parson Jack Russell created the breed to be good mousers and hunting dogs in the late 19th century. Jacks are closely related to the fox terriers. In the intervening years, Jacks have gained popularity and fame. Jacks have starred in a number of recent movies and commericals. Dana Carvey starred with a Jack named Barkley in "Clean Slate" (Barkley also starred on several episodes of "Full House"). The popular TV sitcom "Frasier" has a Jack named Eddie (real name Moose and father to the Jack who starred in "My Dog Skip"). "Wishbone" is the most famous Jack to date. Recent coverage on this delightful breed has certainly helped boost their popularity as does this book.

We recently purchased a JRT named Lucky. I purchased this book beforehand and found it a great resource for us. Everything from the history of the breed to showing the breed. Great photographs!

In this book, Catherine Brown gives readers a true account of life with a Jack Russell Terrier. I have done Jack Russell Terrier rescue for several years, and have shared my home with many Jack Russell Terriers and can appreciate every single word she writes about this challenging and fun-loving breed. Her description of their true nature, along with her complete honesty about the breed, is exactly what people considering this unique little dog need to know. Readers will find all qualities of the Jack Russell, good and bad, in this book. I will be sending a copy of this book home with each person that purchases one of our puppies. a warning.......2005-08-18

My next door neighbor (not the paranoiac, the other one) got this book cheap and tried to use it in the maintenance of his BEAGLE. He wound up killing the animal. They should put a disclaimer on the book:
THIS IS ONLY GOOD FOR JACK RUSSELL TERRIERS.
DO NOT USE FOR BEAGLES.
At least it doesn't bark all night, now.

This book reads like a VCR manual and does not offer anymore information that you could not get online. Do yourself a favor and do a quick search online and save your money.

I have been reseaching Jack Russell Terriers through many different sources. I found this book to be very accurate regarding information I have been able to gather, validating previously gathered information. The book also contains quite a bit of information about the different aspects of owning a Jack Russell (i.e. choosing, feeding, training, temperament, and breed standards). I am sure I will refer to this book often. It is easy to read with many pictures. I loved it.

Very pleased with "Living with a Jack Russell Terrier! This book covers what I needed to know about Jack Russell Terriers without being an overwhelming book. I was pleased to see that it also covered training for Agility and other special areas of interest beyond regular obedience!

Great Resource on Jack Russell Terriers.......2001-08-23

I enjoyed this book plus the timing of the supplier shipping it out next day air allowed me to know just what our family was getting into the following day when we went out to the breeder's farm to pick out Jillian. What a companion dog! I sat up until 12:30 PM and was able to easily scan the relevant, well written issues any perspective JRT owner should know about. I have owned three other breeds and everything MS. Morningstar shares and teaches in this concise text was on the money. I will, of course, read the later chapeters more thoroughly as Jillie matures and grows from her current 5.3 pounds. I think that this is a great reference text which should be easy to resell back to the supplier or to a used book store if the decision not to purchase a JRT is made. It is an excellent "check out the dog breed" book.

Animal lover Mandy Hope, and her best friend James Hunter can't contain themselves as they countdown the days until Christmas morning. But with only four days left until the big day, there is tons of work for the two pals to do: namely, help set up the Santaland at the Walton Cottage Hospital. After all, Mandy and James are lucky to have the opportunity to spend the holidays at home with their families, but for the sick patients at Walton Cottage, the only celebrating they'll be doing is in their hospital rooms. So Mandy and James, along with Mandy's Gran and Grandpa have taken on the duty to do the decorating, and Mandy's father, and resident Veterinarian at Animal Ark, Dr. Adam, will stop by Santaland on Christmas Eve dressed as Santa to hand out gifts to the children in the pediatrics ward, and give them a bit of holiday spirit. But when Mandy stumbles upon a little Jack Russell Terrier in the hospital parking lot, her Christmas spirit goes out the window. The weather is so cold, and the terrier must be hungry and frightened, yet he won't even let the patient Mandy approach him. It has been years since I've sat down to read one of the ANIMAL ARK books - which I devoured one by one when I was a child - but since taking time to do so, the magic I used to experience when I was younger when delving into one of these delightful books has returned. The twinkle in her eye, her jovial spirit, her willingness to help anyone in need...each and every quality is still there, shining brightly. While James Hunter is still his semi-mischievous self - trying to take charge of his out-of-control pup, Blackie, listening only to his growling stomach (which is always begging for food), and taking orders from the large and in-charge Mandy. My Idea about the book is that i like it alot.I like it because I like animals.I think people that like animals would like the book.Somthing I do not like about the book is it is like a kids book.It is long but the words are a little to easy.So If we have a nother book asinmentI think I may read a more harder book.But not to hard but just a little more difficalt.And work my way up harder then harder.I think you would like the book because the fact that it is about a dog.But i think you would not like it because you could read it in like two days.Thats my idea about the book.

The book is called Terrier in the Tinsel.There is a girl named Mandy Hope and both her parents are Dr. For animals.Her mom Emily Hope is working on a pis named Peaches,he is pretty,with rosettes of creamy fur.Her dad Adam Hope is working on a Santaland for the Hospital.Christmas is in four days and the santa outfit is not fitting him.They live somwhere warm because they never had a white Christmas.Mandy was going to take a walk but then she spotted a small brown-and-white Jack Russel Terrier.Mandy got closer but then he would just back away from her.She tryed talking to him but then he just ran away.She told her mom and dad they said they could not do anything.Three days later they saw the dog again.Mandy took it to the Hospital with her parents.They said she is fine.FinallyAt the end of the book the dog did not belong to anyone.There was a girl in the Hospital.She did not have anyone so they gave the dog to the little girl.The dog was put into the Santaland.He was a Raindeer.That is the summary of the book Terrier in the Tinsel.
