somewhat pleased.......2007-02-14
The book was what I wanted. But it was slightly bent and twisted when it arrived. The package didn't look to be damaged just the book.
Dissapointed.......2007-01-03
I went with this book because of the name and when I started to get into my cards which there are about 3 thousand of them I relized that this books only has specific years of specific brands and sets. I started off looking for 1992 Dunruss which I have the complete set and they are not in it for example, then i wanted to check my Leaf cards and it jumps from 1946 up to I beliebe 1999 or 2001 either way Over 50 years not listed in Leaf. I will not go into what is in there for upperdeck. in short if i were looking for a book with a close to complete set of prices for cards it would not be this book. Spend your money on another book and get what you need.
DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DOCTOR.......2006-05-14
I recently received this book. I was surprised to see how many brand issues were omitted. Try to find various years of Stadium Club or Fleer Ultra for example. Many are missing. I am not sure if this was intentional or accidental. This book still has a lot of value, but not Dr. Beckett and company's best effort. I would look elsewhere for more complete and thorough compilation.

One Of The Most Comprehensive Guides On The Market.......2002-07-12
The Beckett Guides are the most popular guides in the world, bar none. And what I've always liked about Beckett is the depth of information contained in his guides. With this one, you get listings of sets from as far back as the late 1800's to 2001. Now please note before I go any further, if you buy this guide and by chance your card or set is not listed, it does not mean your card(s) are worthless, it simply means that what you have may not currently be receiving alot of market activity, or may be a card or cards that aren't currently known to exist. You must realize there are virtually thousands of sets on the market and newer ones coming out every week by various companies, so it is almost impossible to keep up with every one produced. So Beckett concentrates on sets that are both known to exist and have heavy market activity. Oh and one more thing, if you have rubber bands around your cards, please get rid of them. Go to your local card shop or go online and get some card holders. Condition is a key element in a cards worth, and rubber bands can cause severe damage to cards. Now, as for this book, Beckett has sets listed in ABC order and lists the individual cards of the set. So if you are putting together a set, and you see yours listed in this guide, you have the perfect checklist to keep up with what you do and do not have. For each set listed, there's a little bit of information included, and there may be production numbers included in the trivia. Beckett shows you how to collect, how to preserve your cards, how to determine condition, shares football card terminology, and has other interesting facts about football card collecting. Ahh to go to a game and load up on hotdogs. Collecting football cards brings me back to the time when I was in high school and went to the games to pull for my home team (and yes, I ate a lot of hot dogs then too). Collecting football cards make me think about the times when me and my dad would watch a game together, screaming at the players to run run run. So as I'm sure you already know, collecting football cards for most people is more than just an investment. And when I look through this Beckett guide, I see lots of cards that came out when I was younger, and they bring me back to a time(The late 60's, The 70's, and early 80's) when playing football was one of the things I loved to do the most. Beckett guides have remained the most sought after guides since the 80's and are used the world over. Some of the brands of cards you will find in this edition include Fleer, Upper Deck, Topps, Score, Playoff, and Donruss. Again, there are many other brands listed in the guide, but these are some of the most heavily traded ones. This book is a valuable tool for any true football card collector.
You could wait until next year but..............2000-12-15

missing information.......2006-03-18
for a 2006 edition this catalog is missing many many coins from previous years that one would expect to find. there are even missing items from before 2000! not very good for an edition that soppose to be 2006. in other cases, complete countries are missing like the new set from cocos islands with the 2004 set.
2006 world of coins.......2006-03-15
Great book for small amount of money...
I didn't expected that size of book, first I thought that this book is like a manual (200 pages max.) but when I received package and when I took the book out from the package I was astonished...
Inside you can find a lot of stuff, all kind of coins in natural sizes. Only thing that is not so good (in my opinion) is thickness of the paper.
I use KM numbers to help organize the collection.......2006-02-25
I need a guide so I just do not blindly pay big bucks for cute pictures. There are a lot of good guides and some more specific on particular eras and locations such as Westphalia. But as you do a coin search you are bound to run across something you are not familiar with and need a guide. This guide is a great place to start; it is easy to navigate and gives cursory information on particular locations and times surrounding the coin's production.
Keeping in mind that this is just a guide, there are holes and the coins are not displayed in color. On the other hand the coins shown are in actual size; size is hard to translate form internet pictures.
With all the electronic references today it is nice to have something tactile, static and transportable. This book meet al those needs.
Krause sets the standard for world coin catalogs.......2006-02-01
This 1500+ page work is not only comprehensive but interesting to those who collect world coins, either professionally or as a hobby. It includes wonderful descriptions of coins from nations around the world, currently in existence or not, and shows photos of the coins that make determining exactly which denomination and type of coin you are examining. Furthermore, its appendices include bullion values, terminology, and a wealth of other information about both the enterprise of collecting world coins and the specific coins one might come across. Highly Recommended!

Judith Miller price guides are simply the best! They have great color pictures and easy to read price guides. There are none better.
item's too pricey.......2006-08-07
not a whole lot of item's. More picture's than anything. A lot of the item's in the book I beleive are way to over priced. Not a good book to take to flea market's or auction's.
If you do eBay or collect or go to garage sales PERFECT.......2006-08-01
This book is so easy to use-- great price guide to take along on your antique hunt. A whole list of consultants in various areas of expertise help with this book. It covers everything from Holday Memorabilia to marbles to posters to sports stuff to sewing stuff to Teddy Bears and Toys. Also great section on the weifd and wonderful. Also great list of clubs, societies and organizatins. Space memorabilia, rock and pop, radios, pez dispensers, glass, costume jewelry, ceramics -- almost everything around your grandma's house or you'll see at a garage sale including early computers, comics, and watches. Great pictures -- of almost everything with nice hints as to how to take a closer look at a Coca Cola clock and collector notes. Good range of prices and also explains when it was made and how tall etc so you don't get confused. That old pair of straberry shaped earings are not junk-- they could be worth $70-$100 if they are by Weiss. Even an iPod poster could be worth up to $120.00 That 1940's PINK perfume bottle could be worth a $1000 or more...buy this book and you could get RICH!

Very, very disappointed........2007-09-22
I did not like this book at all. I found it very limited. Information was geared mostly to figurines, bottles, dolls, vases, cup and saucers, toys, etc.
There was a lot of information on furniture but very, very few pictures.
Very little information on 'country' type antiques, which is what I was looking for.
INFORMATIVE, EASY TO READ AND ENJOYABLE.......2006-08-10
Really enjoyed this guide; I was surprised to find that some of my "dust collectors" are actually quite valuable!
discription of shapes.......2006-08-06
I like all of Kovel's book's. I only wish they had more pictures of their discription's on certain item's. What does cartouche, crosshatched, baluster etc. mean? Overall a good book for collecters.
Fantastic Antique Reference.......2006-07-28
Kovels' Antiques & Collectibles Price List, 38th Edition,2006 is a fantastic reference book for those that have heirloom antiques and are not aware of their actual monetary value. I was amazed to discover that many of the items that I own are actually worth much more than I realized. The detailed information about identifying certain labels and other distinguishing marks has been most helpful in taking my own personal inventory. I would highly recommend this reference to any serious antique collector.
Koval's getting bettter.......2006-07-24
This version expands on photos and is a better paper quality than past versions. As always, Kovals has extensive listings and clear descriptions, but the additional pictures are an added benefit.

Activity for high-end material propels the market in 2006 Scott Specialized Catalogue. A thorough review of U.S. stamp values has led to adjustments for thousands of items throughout the catalogue. While activity for high end material was robust, values for fine, fine-very fine and even very fine stamps remains fairly steady. Selected classic issues, especially unused stamps with original gum, continue to gain in value.

Antique Radar.......2007-09-25
I've been frequenting antique auctions for many years, yet there are still instances when I am caught off guard. Take, for example, my most recent auction experience. I'd been drooling over a tilt-top regency table at a preview when I noticed a fellow to my right closely examining a lamp. A celadon vase that had been fashioned into a lamp. The lamp looked perfectly innocuous, and I thought the fellow a perfect fool to be so easily swayed by, what was to my eyes, something normally seen only at a Salvation Army thrift store, or a garage sale in a trailer park. Furthermore, I noted that the auction estimate on the lamp was $40. I felt like a god of antiques at that moment, high upon my lofty perch in the heavens, far above this inferior person and his interest in third-rate lamps. After all, I was vying for the gorgeous regency table, so that meant I was a man of discriminating tastes. On the night of the auction, there was a flurry of bids on the lamp, and the hammer only fell when the bid reached the early thousands. The gods decided to teach me a lesson in humility twice that night, as the bids on the regency table quickly outpaced my limited means.
Running home that night from the auction, the first book I reached for was one of my Miller's Price Guides. After some furious page turning, there, for all the world to see, was the harmless little lamp with a string of zeros following its leading digit. In short, the best way to stay ahead of the game is a sound grounding in the discipline. A perusal of a Miller's Price Guide prior to auction night will ensure that nothing of any note will fall under your antique's radar.

An old standby continues moving along.......2007-08-17
This used to be considered the bible of pricing of vintage watches - it is a tremendous piece of work - however many models are missing and prices
need updating as the economy has changed very much in a few short years.
However for the beginner there is no better book to learn and have
a handy reference to save money and not lose it when buying an old watch
Pocket Watches.......2007-07-19
The book is not perfect, but it is a great bargain for the money. It is reasonably easy to use and yet detailed in the descriptions and explanations. I was able to pick out my watches and establish a value very quickly. I used it for all my eBay purchases. I do recommend this book as a great reference for pocket watches.
Informative Guide to American watches.......2007-07-13
This is a practical guide to watches and their prices. It dwells mostly on American pocket watches, and in this aspect it is most informative. It is less so on European pocket watches and wrist watches, but still manages to cover a lot of ground. The pricing seems accurate as a guideline.
Good Price Guide.......2007-07-08
An excellent guide to watch values. Strongest for American Pocket Watches and weaker IMO for European Pocket watches and for wrist watches, particularly Quartz.
Great - But.......2007-04-16
I appreciate the amount of information in the book and the author's time invested in the update.
One of my major interests is in the Hamilton 992B pocket watch. I noticed that the author drastically changed the dates of manufacture related to the serial numbers. This is very disappointing. The 992B has not been made for 40 years. Why is the author changing the information?
I wanted to purchase a 992B for the year I was born. This reference book has let me down in having assurance of when that actual date was. The 992B serial number for my birth year was 490,000-495,000 now it is 516,000-520,000.
This lends me to loose trust in the book as a reference. Was the former information incorrect or the current information? At least an explanation on why the change was made could have been provided.
The Bottom Line: It is an excellent reference but the watch collecting information presented is subject to change - so don't depend on it.
