This book does a nice job of covering the Transformers universe, from comics to small screen to toys to fan fiction. Long-time fans will appreciate the G1 homages, a look at the UK comics and G.I. Joe cross-overs. New fans will appreciate that the Beast Wars and Beast Machines continuities are also covered.
The only things not included are the 2007 live-action movie or a comprehensive look at the several Japanese anime series. If you're interested in those, this book is not for you.
The graphics are a nice conglomeration of comic art, screencaps, new art and actual pictures of toy lines. The book covers general storylines in the many comics and animated series, including the many continuity problems that arise. However, this is not a catalog of every Transformer character out there. If you're looking for a bio on your favorite character, you probably won't find it in this book. The main characters highlighted are Optimus Prime and Megatron.
The only shortcoming the book might have for some is its preference for the Furman continuity, which is presented as gospel. If you're not a Furman fan, or are unfamiliar with his work, it might be confusing.
Continuity problems aside, this is a fun product. Worth having for fans new and old.

This book comes with some good artwork and nice facts, but it is nowhere near what could be called an ultimate guide, it's more like a quick factbook. It spans very little of the toylines, and each series, in very few pages. I wouldn't recomend it for the fans to the extrreme fans unless you just want a nice small book with good artwork in it.
Increase this book size by about 2000 pages and put a gigantic ammount of information in it, then maybe it would be a nice thing to buy, but comon a paragraph at most for each transformer other then the leaders, Unicron or Primus.
Again in a nutshell this is not a book for any fan or diehard fan, it's more of a begginers book for children who have recently gotten into the Transformers via the series or the recent movie.

This guide is absolutely excellent!!! Has alot of history behind the trasnformers and waht they are about, and ALOT of great information and pictures on Generation 1. A definite pickup for any Transformer collector!!

My 5 year brought this home from the book fair at school. I think it's a ploy to have parents buy more plastic pink toys. The girls look at the book, and say "I want that that and that!". There is even a checklist in the back of the book. Littlest Pet Shop toys are now all the rage in our area. Thanks to the book, I had to hunt down the hermit crab for a reward treat for my daughter. Oh well.

This is a great book, my 8 year old daughter and 6 year old son were really excited to get this in the mail.
The book is really a great guide to LPS. Although it only covers the older stuff, and not the newest stuff, it still gives my kids hours of looking at all the LPS figures. Of course, they want all of the figures too! Overall a great book.

This is a good quality book, but not as extensive as I thought. There are constantly new Littlest Pet Shop pets being produced, and many of the ones in this book are 'retired'.
For the price,I expected a little more. And it will make your child realize which ones he/she does not have, and could possibly make them want more...

My daughter was delighted with this book which gives the inside scoop on the first 80 Littlest Pets. She is a hardcore collector, so she really enjoyed the informaiton and details.

Beginner Barbie Collector- Excellent Book! .......2007-09-05
I mainly purchased this book to remember some of my childhood toys- I wasn't expecting the detail and page after page of pictures that made me interested in collecting Barbie's as well-
This thick hardcover book has colored photos of each Barbie both in the box and then a close up of the face. The Barbies are presented in chronological order by year by doll type- so i.e. Barbie from 1950s til 90s then Skipper from 50s-90s, then Ken, etc.
The book also has friends of the infamous Barbie and Ken couple; many of which I have never seen or heard of!
If you are looking for a nice photo array and price guide of Barbie and Friends. Truly the "Ultimate" Barbie book.

This is the best Barbie identification book out there. It's useful to identify those thrift store and garage sale dolls and their outfits. Each item is also described with identifying marks, etc. I have owned this book since it came out and it's the one I go back to the most, for complete Barbie information.

I bought this book for my 3 year old daughter who is infatuated with Toy Story 2. She loves it. There are a ton of stickers, and they cover both the original Toy Story and Toy Story 2. They're bright, vibrant and colorful, which really works well for a 3 year old.
The only knock on the book is what others have said -- the stickers don't stick so well. The book claims that these stickers are reusable. To achieve that, the entire book is printed on glossy paper. So while it is easy to peel off the stickers, it's a bit too easy. They sometimes come off by themselves, and unfortunately, the glue just isn't as adhesive on the 2nd or 3rd try.
This isn't a big issue for a 3 year old -- her attention is off to something else very quickly. If you've got an older child or someone who's a big collector of this stuff, they may be a bit disappointed, however.

I've got to agree with scoobiedo. The stickers DO NOT STICK in this book. After spending a good bit of time putting the stickers in the proper place, they were peeling off in no time. Also, the story is just ok--not that great. What I thought would be a fun book turned out to be a great disappointment.

My daughter loves this book, and we are on our 3rd copy because she has worn it out taking it on trips, in the car, etc. Her favorite part is the international dolls section, where she enjoys looking at national costumes from around the world. The layout and photos are very well-done, and it brings me back to my childhood as well!

This beautiful book is a must-have for any girl who loves Barbies. It is a children's book and is a visual delight...not a dry guide for adult collectors. My kids like it. It's got excellent layout, clear crisp pics, but isn't comprehensive. Great to look through, and point to - look, I had that one when I was a kid..... (YOU were a KID?) I don't use it with my collection, but I am glad I bought it - it makes a pleasent just for fun.

This book is really nice, the pictures are gorgeous, and it has some index on Barbie dolls by year, also Barbie's friends. Not so much on collectible dolls, but there are some dolls with gorgeous pics, some are different from the publish pics and a few are the same. Nice information for dolls and furniture. Great book! The cover is stunning!!!!
