A quick read...if you dont put it off until later........2007-08-18
I started reading this book 4 months ago, but just finished it last week. For a book so small that doesn't say much.
This book delivers on humor and very practical advice, but for me it just seemed to say things I already knew such as keeping a to-do list that breaks major tasks into mini-tasks. To be fair, there was other advice, but nothing that just made me sit up and transform my behavior.
Having said that, I don't think it is a bad book and it wasn't unpleasant to read, but I really expected more. I chose a 3-star rating because while I felt better for a day or two after reading it, I didn't turn on that internal "switch".
Unfortunately I have not read some of the other popular titles, so I have nothing I can recommend in place of this book - please keep that in mind when reading this review.
Practical, easy tips for overcoming procrastination.......2007-01-12
There are a number of procrastination books on the market, but this is by far the best for its simple solutions and practical insights. Like other books on the subject, the author deals with the psychological aspects of procrastination, but unlike other books, she keeps it simple, using real-life stories and examples. Highly recommended. NOTE: THIS REVIEW WAS WRITTEN BY THE AUTHOR OF "NEVER BE LATE AGAIN, 7 CURES FOR THE PUNCTUALLY CHALLENGED."
Nice bathroom lecture.......2007-01-06
I enjoyed this book. Every time I had to go; I found in this book new reasons to start doing procrastinated tasks at home and in my job. Thank You Ritta !
It Hit the Nail on the Head.......2007-01-05
As a classic procrastinator and owner of my own business, I can say that Ms. Emmett's book was wonderfully accurate in assessing my weaknesses. Her methods for breaking the habit of procrastination are good ones which are easily applied. The fact that she offers several different methods make the trial and error process much less painful. I've applied her rules to my business and home life with success. I'm not cured altogether, but this book has me on the right track.
Part of the story.......2006-11-21
I mainly listened to the audio tapes of this book, although I also own the paperback. Emmett's book is helpful in a number of ways. She shows you many aspects of the mindset you will need to overcome procrastination. However, there came a point where this book could take me no further in my battle against procrastination. That's when I turned to the Wikipedia article on procrastination, and perhaps more importantly, the Wikibook on Overcoming Procrastination. Starting with those resources, I launched into my own trip of self-discovery which has led to a breakthrough in my procrastination. Eventually, you need to deeply understand who you are, your life up to this point, and why it is in your best interest not to procrastinate. Anyway, this is my experience.

Un Excelente Libro Para Entender Las Matematicas Financieras!.......2006-06-23
Es dificil encontrar un libro que te explique con tanta claridad (sencillo) el tema de las matematicas financieras. Vale la pena tenerlo.
Concise, informative & well communicated to intended readers.......2003-12-29
I am using the most recent edition (1999, ISBN027362587X) of this excellent book published by FT Prentice Hall.
This book is a concise and informative guide to the concepts and mechanics (maths) and application of financial instruments.
The author has managed to cover the wide area of financial instruments and business maths in the most concise and informative manner possible.
The added bonus of this book is that it could have been "unintentionally" written as a companion with HP financial calculator-the HP12c and the HP19BII.
As a new owner of the HP12c, I have found this book to be an excellent and indispensible guide and workbook.
Working through the examples in the book with my HP12c has helped me familarise with the RPN mode/logic of performing financial maths at the same time as I apply my understanding of the underlying concepts to the exercise questions and illustrative examples.
I am impressed that the author had even included detailed key strokes of both the HP 12c and 19BII calculators with each illustrated examples and answers to practice questions as well! Although there is afew minor errors but the overall effort is great efforts and attention to details.
This book is really true to its name, I would certainly recommend Mr Steiner's excellent work and effort to anyone who needs a refresher or an introductory course into financial instruments for both work and study.
Judging by the author's excellent effort, it would be difficult for the author himself to improve on his own work unless there are major new developments in the subject matter or if the author wishes to cover more complex and specialist areas.
A five star+ effort in my humble opinion.
A must in your bookshelf.......2002-09-20
One of the best titles you can get about pricing swaps and simple options and many other money market stuff. A lot of excersises with solutions. I dont know how this book isnt a best-seller yet.
One of the best I've encountered.......2000-10-23
As a liberal arts major who was not a math pro but had an interest in learning the tools of finance, this book was a dream come true. It explains every calculation simply and without any technical (and incomprehensible) jargon found in many textbooks. It includes examples, hints, and a glossary of important financial concepts. If you are willing to learn, then this book is for you. A good reference tool for even pros. A bit expensive but NOT sorry to have bought it.
Brilliant. A Definitive Work.......2000-09-09
This is by far the most comprehensive, easy to understand book regarding financial math I have come across in over 15 years as a Wall Street IT professional. From calculating simple interest to pricing interest rate and currency swaps to option payout diagrams this book has it all. All calculations are clearly laid out with real examples, sample questions and hints. A must have for novices and pros.

Clear and thorough with excellent examples.......2006-06-13
This is an excellent book for both practitioners and students. The book is clearly written and contains some very good examples on calculations. As a portfolio manager, I find that this book is best used establishing basic knowledge of transaction mechanics. You can combine this reading with Fabozzi's book to get a better feel for the market. Although the Fabozzi book is not as well organized, it contains more industry perspectives. This book is very highly recommended.

A Bible For The Entrepreneural Manager.......2007-06-29
I'm an executive in a highly competitive and aggressive sales organization with a colorful mix of "creative" and "analytical" minds. Beyond the valuable "personal organizational system" offered, this book is a powerful awareness tool for those expected to develop people's potential into bottom-line benefits; offering leaders a better understanding of how the two types of minds experience and interact with their world, and then how to synchronize them into a highly efficient go-to-market machine. It's very easy to make this book about you but, its true value is in making it work for those that work for and with you - then, everyone wins... especially, your customer!
Creative People Organizing.......2007-04-05
As a professional organizer I find this book very useful and insightful. The authors present the information in a very easy and fun to read manor without a lot of useless extras. They also write in a positive tone to accept ones organizing challenges and accept them but they also give great examples on how to overcome them and become right-brain organized people. I would recommend this book to any one having or know someone with organizing challenges in their own homes and businesses. I would also recommend this book for professional organizers to read wanting to help their more creative clients.
New Understanding for Clutterers.......2006-01-30
I was often puzzled by my inability to stick with the organizing tips from the many books I've read on the topic. Finally I discovered this book. It explained to me the wall-to-wall stacks of paper that blanketed my office.
My need to keep my work visible and accessible led to this "all out" array, but it also was hard to manage and retrieve. At last, I could understand where my resistance to traditional organizing originated.
You will recognize a lot of the tips here from other books on organizing, but the author relates them to the creative mind and how it applies to your style. It also explained to me when my cleaning efforts often bogged down due to my "global" view. Getting me to focus on detail and tackle one small part, made it all more manageable.
Hope for the organizationally challenged.......2004-10-26
This is a wonderful book that hones right into the heart of the causes of the organizational challenges of many creative people. I thought I was a hopeless case until I read this book. It gave me so much hope and helped me to identify the way my thinking style affected my disorganization. It helped me to find new ways to overcome my lack of order and I am now much more confident and organized.
It's rather amusing that the few negative customer reviews actually prove one of the major points of this book: That left brain people have little understanding of the difficulties experienced by creative people, and, because of their analytical (and therefore judgmental) inclinations, they tend to be critical and think that there should be only hard and fast organizing rules, rather than methods that can be molded to individual needs.
This book is a classic, on book shelves for over ten years, and is the organizing "bible" of creative people. Because I personally know a professional organizer, I know that it was chosen by the National Association of Professional Organizers as a study guide for it's members and it is still regularly recommended by many professional organizers to their clients.
My recommendation: If you are the creative type and experience on-going organizational problems, buy this book! You will see yourself on every page. It changed my life, and it could change yours!
If you're right-brained, this book works.......2004-02-13
I have read this book about twice now and I believe the authors completely understand right-brained (RB) people and wrote the book in a way that works well for RB's. My belief is that the people that gave this less of a review were perhaps not as much in the RB mode as they suspected. The book uses diagrams, formatting, summaries, examples and specific advice very well, making it easy for us RBs to understand why we're different and how to make the most of it.
Book Description
The floating exchange rate environment has created a need for banks and their corporate customers to arrange their currency exposure on an active and commercial basis. This book addresses current practice and future issues and is written for both new entrants into the markets and for seasoned professionals seeking to refresh or broaden their knowledge. The book covers issues such as: A radical new settlement system for FX will be going live in the 3rd quarter - named continuous linked settlement or CLS for short, Foreign Exchange Portals Atriax and FXAII, Electronic Broking EBS, The increased profile of the spreadbetting agencies in the FX markets e.g. IG Index, Emerging Markets, and New Exotic Currency Options.

The one FX book to grab when you need to know it all!.......2006-04-21
After reading almost 50 books on the Forex Market and trading the markets live for a few years, I decided that Ms. Taylor's Mastering Foreign Exchange and Currency Options: A Practical Guide to the New Marketplace is the one Forex Book I would take with me if forced to select one. Why? Because it is the only book to somehow comprehensively cover topics as diverse as Currenex, the application of Technical Analysis to FX, Buy Side vs. Sell Side FX Dealer dynamics, Corporate Treasury Hedging, and of course a fairly essential history of both the economics of foreign exchange and the fundamentals relevant to trading it. The book is only 380 pages and most certainly does meet the needs of entry level traders. Intermediate traders or professionals will certainly find topics covered which prompt an occasional: " I didn't know that !". Again, Ms. Taylor has given us the essentials of both the theoretical dimensions of Foreign Exchange pricing both Spot, Futures, and Options AND the nitty, gritty incidentals of how the technology works to make the market happen. What most books on Forex fail to do - this book does achieve. Few Forex primers squarely place Spot Forex into the Inter-Bank context where it belongs. Few books adequately integrate information about Corporate Treasury concerns with the nature of Central Bank Intervention. Trading Forex on the Retail level without understanding CLS or the Flow Information available through Currenex is like Racing Nascar without knowing how to change a tire. Ms. Taylor's book achieves this through the gift of being able to simplify, coordinate, and render the essential of a topic without loss of rigor or information. Usually books achieving this are a dense read, but this book is not - and that is the work of a great teacher.
An ok book but not for the beginner.......2005-06-02
This book has a well written chapter on the economics of foreign exchange. This books' chapters on e-foreign exchange and innovations in e-fx are rather useless for the beginner and also outdated.
The chapters on technical analysis and the individual trainer are short and to the point. It's good information but not enough 'meat' to assist the individual to make better trades. More or the same information can be found in other books that also explain in more details.
There are several chapters that are mainly written for large institutional traders which I didnt find very useful other than getting a 'birds-eye' view from their position.
In my opinion, this book is more for intermediate traders but I wouldn't recommend it to beginners.

Good Start.......2002-12-14
This is a good reading for someone with no Futures & Options knowledge. I find it quite useful how the author clearly defines various swaps namely-- Currency, Interest Rates and Energy. However, this book would not cover newer Derivs stuff i.e. Credit Derivatives (though it provides a simple snapshot of CDS and TRS). I commend the author for not taking the GEEK approach.
Basic and thorough understanding on Derivatives.......2001-07-06
You may seldom locate a book telling you one of the most practical aspect in recent regime of financial accountng - booking the derivatives. Nevertheless, it spent a few paragraphs together with some examples showing you the booking of three major types of derivatives in the financial market. Other topics also illustrate comprehensively the functioning of the derivatives as well as accompanied with various examples. Had it not been for the limited pages in explaining the booking methodology, it would have been the best derivatives related book that I have met before.
Easy to follow.......1999-04-24
An excellent introduction to options and the over-the- counter foreign exchange markets.Lays out in simple plain English trading strategies and goes about removing some of the mystery that surrounds this subject

Bravo!.......2004-03-26
Editors at Financial Times (FT) co-authored this volume, with Tim Dickson serving as executive editor . It offers "The Complete MBA Companion in Strategy," the result of FT's strategic alliance with the University of Chicago Business School, INSEAD, the University of Michigan Business School, and the Said Business School at Oxford University. This is the seventh volume in what is identified as "The Financial Times Mastering" series. It contains articles that first appeared in FT in late-1999.
The material is carefully organized within 16 chapters. In the first, there are two essays: "Strategy and the delusion of Grand Designs" authored by John Kay, Director of london Economics; the second -- "Strategy, blind men and the elephant" was co-authored by Henry Mintzberg of McGill University and INSEAD, Bruce Ahlstrand of Trent University (Ontario), and Joseph Lampel of the University of Nottingham Business School.
As for the final chapter, "Fresh Challenges for the Future," it was written by Dan Schendel, founding and current editor the Strategic Management Journal. The reader is advised that "This final module sums up the main themes of the book, addresses some of the current controversies, and offers pointers on how the field may develop in coming years. The core message is that those who fail to keep up with the best in strategic management risk losing their businesses and losing their jobs. The cases of failure cited throughout the book underline the point." My own crystal ball imploded long ago so I now cut Schendel considerable slack, given the fact that his comments on "fresh challenges" were composed five years ago. In fact, I think his analysis holds up remarkably well.
Although exceptionally well-written and skillfully-edited, this volume is by no means an "easy read." My own opinion is that it will be of greatest interest and benefit to the more capable students enrolled in graduate schools of business, and, to senior-level executives. Of course, the immediate value of each chapter will be largely determined by the immediate needs and interests of each reader. I would be remiss if I failed to acknowledge the superb graphics provided by Graham Parish. I also want to commend, again, Tim Dickson and his associates -- notably Ken Pottinger, James Pickford, Laura Scanga, and various school "co-ordinators" -- for pulling together so much excellent material, then getting it all properly presented. Bravo!
Great Collection of Strategy Articles.......2002-12-25
This is a great collection of articles covering all aspects of business strategy. Prior knowledge about the subject matter, though is not necessary, will help you appreciate the material more. I strongly recommend this book to those people interested in building a thorough understanding of strategy.
Broad spectrum with excellent quality.......2001-11-23
'Mastering Strategy' consists of essays with consistently excellent quality, & covers a broad spectrum of strategy topics. It offers readers with perspectives on various dimensions of strategy, including: social impact, historical development, academic interest, operational issues etc. All essays are concise & good selection of further readings are included at the end of each essay, in order to guide readers for further investigation.
An easy way to update your strategy knowledge.......2001-05-08
The book presents an excellent companion of the top issues involving strategy today. The book is structured according to global themes, like strategy and economics, strategy and leadership, and so on. Each chapter has 4 or 5 articles related, written by authors from important business schools. Issues like game theory and commitments are deeply reviewed, but in a simple way, easy to understand, thus allowing anyone with no MBA to understand it. The book offers an easy way to update your strategy knowledge, if your are interested in business strategy.
Book Description
(6"x9" perfect bound book)Time travel is most certainly "possible." Time travel is the concept of moving backward or forward to different points in "time," in a manner analogous to moving through space. There are many mysteries in the universe, for example: Some of the greatest mysteries are - how the pyramid was built, and how the universe was formed or is there a - God ... in the universe? We have so many questions but yet, the scientists are able to find all these answers for us. And are we alone in the universe? How to solve a murder case by time travel? Is there a time machine? At this moment on earth is still "blind leading blind." This book will tell you what is Time travel ... how to do it, and what will you encounter during time travel; and what is the condition while in time travel; and how can you tell this is the "Time travel" occurring. And what is the master secret of Time Travel? It is written in this book. This book is believed is the most amazing book on earth. Because 'no' documents in human history mentioned how to perform this skill, the reason is simple -- because no one knows "how."
But once you get to read this book, you will know all the secrets about "TIME TRAVEL." And best part of it -- how to do it yourself.

If you like the movie "Pay Check" then you must like this book too........2007-09-19
If you like the movie "Pay Check" (Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman) then you will like this book too. The movie reminds me of this "Mastering time travel...," but in the movie, they built a time machine. It is all good theories, but in reality no man has ever figured out what is time machine.
Author stated, "there is no 'time machine,' but there is a similar device which human can use and travel between time," the answer is in this book.
This book takes billions of human years for author to be born, and the first human is ever to write a book with this subject, it is worth -- every penny to read it.
Highly recommend it.
This is time travel........2007-09-19
Current theories say, that only energy could travel in time that way. There are lots of experiments done currently with the 'dual photon paradoxon', showing that 2 photons created from matter, are linked together by an 'information bridge' that seems to be way faster than light (in fact it seems to be infinitively fast !). The idea is to send one of those photons through a wormhole, while the other one stays with you. That way, you could send information through time. The same works for all type of energy or relativistic particles, and since energy = matter, it could also work with matter, though energy requirements would be enormous.
But these are theories, in fact, these do not apply to reality. Thanks to the author, these time travel secrets finally revealed. Read this book and you will know why time travel is possible.
Greatest mystery of all human time........2007-09-19
If you are trying to find time travel books, you will find none but those Science fictions book, this book is the first book on earth that teaches you how to do it yourself. It is precision and compact.
It is beautifully written from cover to cover, and it has records since the beginning of time. The Einstein and the German Nazi were not able to figure out what is Time Travel. But now, we do have the answers, this book reveals the greatest mystery of all human time.
It was stolen from my friends........2007-09-16
Surprising enough, this book and "mastering remote viewing: third eye $ astral projection" are in the local library where I live, I borrowed them and like them. There are so many valuable information in these books, it is hard to put them down. And I am afraid these books might be "out of prints." I had to get them for my own collections.
When my friends visited me, I let them borrow them, and never got them returned. So, I have to buy them again, and THIS TIME I WILL NEVER LEND THEM TO ANYONE... YOU HAVE TO 'GET ONE ON YOUR OWN.'
Time journey to find out yourself........2007-09-06
I love this book, the minute I got the book I am able to read from cover to cover, it is very exciting to read a technology is so advance of its time.
What conception should Christians hold about human nature? It is safe to say that most Christians think of the human person in terms of a body 'animated' by a soul which detaches from the body at death. There are a variety of theological and scriptural reasons for thinking this, but then again it is not the only option consistent with Christian belief. In her book Bodies and Souls, or Spirited Bodies? This book makes a compelling case for a nonreductive physicalist account of human nature, which in her words is the thesis that "first, that we are our bodies-there is no additional metaphysical element such as a mind or soul or spirit. But, second, this 'physicalist' position need not deny that we are intelligent, moral, and spiritual" (p. ix). There are a variety of reasons for adopting this position, including the fact that there is no specific Biblical stance on the subject anyway, recent advances in cognitive neuroscience and the importance in Christian spirituality of recognizing our embodied, social and relational aspects.
And this book will help you to find what is your origin.

Great book!.......2007-09-29
This, and his other book, "How to have a 48-hour day," are great books on time management. Both are very insightful and discuss many practical issues of time management that often are not covered, or not covered as clearly, in other time management books. I LOVE Don Aslett's writings!
EXCELLENT ! GET STUFF DONE!!.......2007-09-11
I'M PUTTING THE CAR SEAT COVERS ON MY CAR SEATS. BIG DEAL? YES, BIG DEAL, THEY'VE BEEN IN MY CAR TRUNK FOR 9 YEARS!! I WAS WAITING FOR THEM TO DO THEMSELVES. THEY DIDN'T. I AM DOING IT AND IT IS DONE!!!!! ALMOST ALL OF DON ASLETT'S BOOK ARE EXCELLENT, BUT THIS ONE TOPS THE REST!
Great ideas! A fun read and very motivating........2007-06-19
A fantastic resource, whether you work for corporate America or are the CEO of your own small business at home (also known as a stay-at-home parent). Easy to read and full of practical ideas about how to make the most of your time and get more accomplished. While Aslett comes across as somewhat of a workaholic, his methods of getting more done are useful for those of us with much less on our plate as well.
One of the most useful techniques I found was "piggybacking": using the time between tasks to get other stuff done. For example, boiling pasta for your kids' lunch while you write a review for Amazon.com (as I'm doing now).
I've read a few of Aslett's books, but this one is my favorite. Many time management books are very office-focused. This one is great for those of us who want to learn to manage our life and time beyond the structure of the traditional 9-to-5 workday.
How to Handle 1,000 Things at Once.......2007-01-03
maybe I didn't need this book...added to the clutter of my home
Excellent Resource.......2004-07-14
I started to type out a wordy/lengthy review of this book but then decided it would be much better to make a brief statement as to why I thoroughly ENJOYED it:
Don Aslett has a unique way of 'embarrassing' people, including me, into trying to turn over a new leaf. So many parts of this book pertained to my life, and I think that, even though he writes with a lot of brashness, it is just the 'medicine' that I need to try to get with the program: decluttering, trying to cut housework, etc. We are all managers, and we are the only ones who can change things: nobody is going to do it for us.
I also am keeping the words "look at cleaning up after [something] as the restoration process," so now when I'm taking care of the house, I'm not simply "cleaning" it but "restoring" it.
I got this book through an inter-library loan but am thinking about purchasing it used thru this website and using it as a reference whenever I need a boost...
