I would have given it 5 stars, but............2006-11-10
the battery is now dead, because my sons have played with the book SO MUCH. AND........ you cannot replace the batteries......WHAT??! I couldn't believe it when I found that out. It says right on the back of the book, "Batteries cannot be replaced." Ugggh. The boys were SO bummed! They still play with it though, making their own sounds and of course, we still read it together and they can still turn the steering wheel and pretend. I guess it actually still makes some sort of noise when you press the horn...sounds like something crashing or something. At least it's not moaning anymore like it was when the battery first started to die! LOL!
Anyway, it lasted around 8 months with a 3 yr. old and an 18 month old playing with it (their ages now).
Just thought you should know about the battery thing. Still a really cool book though.
Fantastic Tractor Book!.......2004-05-09
My son received this book for Christmas and I just cannot thank that person enough for it. He just loves this book! The horn the steering wheel has is just so neat and I hear that thing going at the strangest times too (like at 3:00 a.m. when he rolls over on it in bed...). It has gone many, many places and my son just cannot get enough of it. It has all the brands too - Deere, Farmall, harvester, etc. and explains how the tractors work the fields and take the products to market. Great, great book - don't hesitate on this one!
Great book.......2000-03-03
My son got this book at 5 month. He is a year old now and still loves to turn the wheel, flip the pages and play peekaboo with it.
Perfect for my 4 year old son! What a great idea!.......1999-11-04
My son loves turning the wheel and beeping the horn. The combination of a book and a toy make this book unique! I can't recommend it enough!

Standard Catalog of Farm Toys .......2006-01-18
This is a good reference book with pictures and prices.
Great book, great hobby.......2005-10-12
My first farm toy was my dad's Product Miniatures Farmall tractor and wagon with McCormick-Deering decals. It was his as a child and has seen its share of play. That toy was also my inspiration for the improvements included in this 2nd edition.
In creating the 2nd edition of a popular title, the most important considerations for an author are the needs of the audience. I consulted with farm toy expert Kate Bossen and other enthusiastic farm toy collectors to make this edition more comprehensive and easier to use. It contains more than 1,800 new listings and several hundred new photos bring the grand total to well over 5,000 photos. And the positive reactions from collectors this year made our efforts worthwhile.
This book is a must for farm toy collectors who like their toys in green, red, and every variety in between. Like the dedication says: "This edition is dedicated to all who participate in the farm toy hobby, to everyone who remembers that first toy tractor, and to everyone who still has that first toy tractor."

still loves it a year later..........2006-06-08
This is one of the few books my son still loves after reading for almost a year. I first showed it to my child when he was about 6 months and he liked it right away, now he's 18 months and he likes it even better whereas many other books have fallen to the wayside. The drawings are enjoyable to both the infant and toddler group. When he was young we focused on the animals and their noises, now we are focusing on the tractors and engines, and explaining where food comes from etc. It's a great book.
We Love Johnny Tractor and Friends.......2006-03-20
These are great books for my 3 year old. He loves all the flaps and does not get tired of hearing the tractor adventures. These books are written well. A great product.
Love this one!.......2006-03-17
My two year old son just loves this book! The flaps and all of the bright colors and animals keep him completely entertained. I think it's a great value also. When I ordered the book I didn't realize how big was until it arrived. I would have expected to pay at least $14.99 for a book of this quality and size.
john deere lover.......2006-01-11
My son is 2 1/2 and loves this book, he wants to read it all the time.
John Deere Lift the Flap Book Merriweather Farm.......2005-11-28
I love the book. It is impossible to find flap books for little boys. This is a good one with not too many words per page. The flaps are fun and the pictures are good. It is one of his favorites.

great tractor book.......2007-05-31
My son loves tractors! This one is great because the tractor pitures are very big and the book itself is short and sweet! (the way I like them!)
Great for a toddler.......2007-01-09
My one year old grandson who lives next door to us loves to be read to. He loves this book and can't wait for you to turn the page so he can "feel" each part. His favorite thing to do each afternoon is go for a tractor ride with his Paw Paw, so having a book about a tractor is really cool.
Great Little Book!!.......2006-11-05
My son (11 months) absolutely loves this line of books. And even my daughter (3 1/2) enjoys them! Great for sensory skills...and fun to read.
LOVE IT!!.......2006-03-27
Bought this for my son when he was 16mos old and he loved it. He still has to read it over and over. It's one book I recite to him in the store and when we come home he runs to his room for it.
Great Book.......2005-11-18
My son loves this book. By the way, Renee, please look at a dictionary, according to Webster the second meaning of funnel is: a stack or flue for the escape of smoke or for ventilation (as on a ship)

Wow.......2005-02-15
The big book of john deere tractors has a bunch of different types of tractors in all kinds of different styles. John deere tractors are very interesting.
I really like reading about tractors they are very interesting to learn about. It seems like every time I read about a tractor I learn a new fact. One fact that I really like that it tells the exact year that they were made. As you go along you find new ways to work on older John deere tractors.
I really liked this book because I like learning new things about tractors. I like looking and reading these books because you can find tractors that you may own yourself. It was very interesting to know all those facts.
Nothing was very confusing about this book I really enjoyed this book. There was only one confusing thing it was the diagrams. Other tan that there was nothing confusing about this book.
Great Gift.......2003-01-09
I purchased this for my dad for Christmas and he loved it!
Joan.......2002-12-10
Hi I received my book in good condition. I was very pleased with your company. I will shop with you again. I know my dad will be happy with his Christmas gift. Do you sell glass lamp globes. I have a pink lamp with only the bottom half. I am looking for the top. It is pink with roses and a small covered wagon with a couple of stands of wheat around it. It is raised design that you have to look close to see.
Thanks
Joan
If you love tractors..........2001-11-21
then this is the book for you. I bought it as a gift for a knowledgable friend and he was in raptures. I now know more about John Deere tractors than I ever dreamed it was possible to know! This book covers every John Deere tractor ever made and covers them in great detail. The photos and vintage posters add to the appeal of this tractor encyclopedia.
A "must" for all John Deere tractor enthusiasts........2000-03-03
John Deere tractors are often older vintage collectible models and this provides an excellent encyclopedia to tractors from around the world, providing a fine model-by-model historical reference and including European models in its assessment of tractors from 1892 to modern times. Photos showcase the tractors and add appeal.
Book Description
The first book to feature every Farmall model. It chronicles the background of McCormick-Deering and International Harvester and outlines the beginnings of IH's production of the treasured Farmall tractor from its inception in 1923 (the lightweight, general purpose row-crop tractor that could literally "farm all") until the last model rolled off the assembly line in the mid 1970s. Highlights include stories of the innovative spirit of the "McCormick Men," the battle with John Deere to produce the best-selling, most popular tractor, and the challenges IH faced when the 560 and 460 models failed in the field. This comprehensive volume also includes descriptions and hundreds of color photographs of all models, complete with performance comparisons (based on the University of Nebraska tests); chronicles the exciting beginnings of International Harvester; and places IH events in a larger historical context.

Big Book of Farmall Tractors.......2005-08-18
Covers the farmall tractor family very well for those years most appropriate for collecting and restoring. Pictures are outstanding and a great aid to someone restoring am incomplete tractor. Just enough technical data to establish advances in capability and options to aid selection of a favorite to acquire or covet, but not enough to do any serious restoring. A very nice and easy to follow review of the great Farmall line. Absolutely fantastic pictures.

This book was a disappointment. This is a very brief overview of the hobby of collecting farm toys. This is not a resource book.
Customer Reviews:
Great basic interactive book for toddlers.......2007-06-12
We got this book for my son when he was 16months, after having "Este no es mi conejito" for 2months, to show him that inanimate objects also have textures that can be different from animal textures, and he has thoroughly enjoyed both books from day one! The boardbook pages are EXTRA thick, making it very VERy durable! The textures and the predictability immediately engage the child on each page. As soon as i turn the page he runs his fingers over the texture and then off the other end, like i would do with his fingers when we originally read the book (so he could feel the difference of the book page to the texture). My husband reads with added inflection and adds the question on each page "?Es este tu tractor?" before reading the text "Noooooooooo, este no es mi tractor, tiene....." and my son laughs with anticipation of the exaggerated "Noooooooo" of the text.
Great book that engages the toddler quickly, and with its predictability will have them reading/babbling the text to themselves sooner than you think!

Not helpful.......2006-03-15
If this book is supposed to be a how-to book as its title states, it falls very short. I couldn't find anything of use for me, since I want to restore much more delicate models, than those shown. Even the things the author talks about do not really explain how to do anything.
I should have paid attention to the first reviewer.
An absolutely worthless book!.......2004-08-03
This book basically says "sandblast the rust and then buy the missing parts". At best, it is a book about renovation not restoration. "The hubcaps 'appeared to be chrome' so we re-chromed them" is not a restoration statement but that of a hack. There is nothing on research (color matching, decals, creating missing parts, and so forth) and his examples are an endless repetition of the same theme of sandblasting . . . blah blah blah. He can't even tell you how to restore a serious dent or bend in the metal. The author does not seem to be a restoration expert but a writer about restoration. There is padding in the form of photographs of collectors. Tin plate models are really not covered in any depth yet these are the most difficult to restore. The list of suppliers of parts is pathetic. Don't waste your money. It is not even worth a 1 star rating.
