Beanie Book blastin with Information.......2000-08-16
Looking for a good book to give you information on your collection? I know this book sure helps me! This guide with it's color-filled pictures, and acurate Ty prices is the perfect book to help you with your collection. It also has bonus ways on how to tell a counterfeit from an original. I almost bought a counterfeit Pincess and Doby, if this guide didn't help me. It includes a time line of all Ty Beanie Baby events, plus information on how to tell which Beanie Baby will be expenisive in a year. I bought one for (sadly) $20 and it was $40 two months later. And don't forget, this book it good for all different stages of Beanie collecting! If you're a collector, this Beanie book is the book for you! :-)

as a 'novice' beanie collector, this book has been the MOST helpful in learning to recognize all the beanies/teenies/et al; don't waste your money on any others, as I have... the pics alone are great; i would be totally lost without this guide!
An Excellent Way to Keep Up With Your Collection!.......2000-05-09
Ty Beanie Babies Summer 2000 Collecor's Guide is a great way to inventory your collection whether you collect Beanie Babies, Buddies, Teenie Beanies, or *New* Beanie Kids. This book details with a picture of each baby and value by version tags. It also has a guide to distinguish which "hang tag" or "tush tag" you have. Whether you have a large collection or just getting started, I highly recommend this book for you.

Wonderful Resource for Ty Bears!.......2000-01-28
This book is an excellent source of information on Ty plush animals! It is a valuable addition to any collector! I got this for my mother, she collects Ty Bears, and she didn' realize how many were actually out there. Excellent book, very well put together!
A must for the Ty plush collector!.......1999-03-24
We Ty plush collectors have been waiting for this book. This guide contains pictures and information on Ty plush that I had never ever heard of! The pictures are very well done, very clear. It also has information on Attics and Beanies, but it's the plush section that really makes it unique.
This is an excellent guide to Ty Plush and Attic Treasures!.......1999-01-13
This guide gives you an in depth look at pictures and prices for the collectibles you have! Helps you to identify those pieces who may not have tags and assess their value. A MUST have for the Ty Plush collector!

poor service
Question the REAL Value.......2001-04-18
The good folks editing the reviews here at Amazon have told me in no uncertain terms that my reviews should focus SOLELY on the product itself. Comments on merchandising are entirely unwelcome, at least according to some editors here. In reference to my comments on a similar product I've been told "Your review of the Collector's Value Guide has been removed from our database, as it is not a critique of the book in question. It is not clear from reading the review that you have read the book you commented on." How one comments on the quality of a "book" like the Ty Beanie Babies Winter 2001 Collector's Value Guide, which is almost exclusively about merchandise and exists solely because of marketing, without commenting on merchandising of the products I don't quite know. (To prove I've actually "read the book", hopefully I'll be allowed to tell you that the products considered in this tome are small stuffed animal [some imaginary] toys with heart-shaped paper tags on their ears known as "Beanie Babies". I'm not at all sure that I'll be allowed to discuss these legume-namesaked infants further, though.)
But I'll give it a try: Having read the Ty Beanie Babies Winter 2001 Collector's Value Guide, by an anonymous author, I can say that I was extremely disappointed. True, there were lots of good pictures, and tons of characters, but character development was extremely limited. The plot was completely incomprehensible to me. Whoever this mystery author is, he or she is far more obscure than James Joyce ever was! Talk about sound and fury signifying nothing! I can't help but think that another author would have done so much better with this material. Now, I don't want to give away the ending or too many "plot twists", but I was disappointed to find that as soon as the reader gets interested in a particular character, that character disappears ominously (or in Beanie Baby parlance, " is retired"). I'm not at all sure that younger children should be exposed to such a frightening prospect. Older children may be able to get past these concerns to see the essential theme of the book in a positive light as the continual renewal of life. But frankly, I'd give this book a miss.
A good guide for knowing what's out there.......2001-04-07
I do not really use this as a price guide, because let's face it, most of the common Beanies are only worth as little as 3.00. But it is a good color picture guide, and you can use it for knowing what's out there. There were so many 2001 releases, I couldn't keep track of them online. So at least I can go through the book and mark which ones I have, and which ones I want. I want to get all the cats, at least!!
The Greatest Book I have Ever Read.......2001-03-01
I love beanies, they are so cute like my little dog teddy. Unfortunately, sometimes he is not so cute and he eats my Beanie Babies. But at least teddy didn't eat this book, I don't know what I would do! My dog is so cute, I wish that I could find a Beanie Baby that looked like him.
Every thing to organise your collection.......2000-12-01
With each page having a space to put your bought price and market value (some filled in) this book makes it easy to organise the value of your collection. It includes Ty Buddies, the Mc Donald's teenie beenies the beanie kids and of courde, beanie babies. Being the most recent, it includes the new zodiac babies. Each page has colourful photos of the toy, the poem in its tag. its release date, retirement date and birthdate.
But wait there's more!! Found at the back are sport's promotion beanies, spotting counterfeits, tag generations and a list of beanies by their birthdays. Thank goodness its got a good index..........

Checkerbee Series Is Horrible.......1999-08-14
This is a horrible series with information that becomes outdated very quickly. Save your money and buy Beanie Babies, instead.
A great book to keep track of your beanies.......1999-07-05
I purchased this book to keep track of all of my investments, and it has done just that. It is a great book that gives you everything that a beanie babie collector needs to know. But on the downside, it has left out some of the prices for some strange reason. That's why it is only 4 *'s
I think it has great ways to help kids become collectors........1999-07-05
I loved it because it had a pocket planner inside, free, for no charge. It really gives kids an idea of how to become great collectors.
excellent for the beginner and advanced collector........1999-05-15
This book is one of the main reasons my 3 daughters and I began collecting beanies. We did not know where to start in our search. This book made it so simple and enjoyable that we have become avid collectors and enjoy working together as a group. My daughters are 10, 8, and 6, thanks for giving us the ability to have a project together that we can enjoy. We never would have known what to do without this book. Even my 18 month old loves the pictures in this book and will cry if we take it away from him. It is teaching him his animals. See, this book has a multipurpose use!!!
AWESOME BOOK ! ! !.......1999-05-09
This is a perfect book for all the beanie infomation you need. I would recomend this book to everyone!

a useless book for a useless pastime.......2005-01-10
i just got this book for my birthday and i have to say not only is it a terrible book, but it's completely useless to me. i don't even have any beanie babies. i think my nana gave it to me in hopes of getting me interested in these silly toys, but honestly, it's only made me hate them even more and feel sorry for the people who consider them a valid collector's item. what can you do with these puppets aside from display them on your dash board or "admire" them? that's not exciting. and it's definitely not fun. i'd rather take a nap. or collect stamps. atleast stamps will be worth something in 20 years. heck, atleast stamps are worth something right now.
Winter 2000 Collector's Value Guide.......2002-05-29
Very satisfied with the book. Extremely fast shipping and excellent communications from Fox Hill Books. Highly recommend.
NICE BOOK BUT HARD TO KEEP UP WITH WHAT IS OUT THERE.......2001-05-21
Ok this is a great book. I didnt buy it normal price (I got at a thrift store for $1 lucky me!) but its a nice find. I mean I am thinking of buying the newest one for 2001. But I think I might stick with the magazine. The reason is this book doesn't have all the beanie babies that were out in 2000 because it was published before they were out. For example I love the teenie babies 2001 but they are NOT in this because it was put out before they were put out. CheckerBee publishing puts out a lot of great guides, this is sure one of them. At least they put out one for Beanie Babies updated. Puffkins has ONE from 1999 and that is the ONLY one out there and they never update, and just like Beanie Babies they are always changing too. Well so I put 4 stars not five because of it not going to be as updated as you want. There is a great magazine Mary Beth she seems updated, or try to internet. But as a new collector and as a person who wants to see what they are worth or to see at least who goes with what name, this guide was great. Gives great information on beanie baby, retires, prices and check list. Cute pictures too. So if you need a view of them or a checklist this is nice. If you need updated stay with the mags and the internet! Ok? Peace, out. Beanie Babies Forever!
A GREAT BOOK FOR REVIEWING - BEANIE COLLECTOR'S LOVE IT!.......2000-05-03
I HAVE THIS BOOK AND I NEVER THOUGHT ANYTHING WOULD BEAT THE MAGAZINE THAT I NOW GET MONTHLY. BUT, I MUST SAY, THIS IS A GREAT RESOURCE FOR BEANIE COLLECTOR'S AND LOVER'S. A MUST HAVE!
Great for beginners.......2000-04-16
I've just started collecting beanies since Dec. 99. Having no clue as to who was who of the beanie animals, this book gives me a great starting point. It has all the info on beanie B-days, retirements, and most importantly what is a reasonable price to pay for them.I'm not looking to re-sell them to make money but I don't want to go over board on my spending for beanies at the same time. Of course its not up to date as far as new Ty products, but I don't need that info immediately as I'm just starting out. It also gives info on tag generations and tush tags which is most helpful to me. The bottom line is, if you are new to collecting Beanies, get at least one of the Checkerbee series for reference. It helped me tremendously.

WOW!.......1999-07-31
This was a great book. Even though the prices were slightly out of date, I highly recommend you buy it! This book is a must for every collector!
This is copyright 1997? I dont believe it almost!.......1998-10-12
Well,I seriously disagree with the people saying that "This book is more for serious collectors than kids". I am just 9 years old and this book is so clear and detailed! It is so much better than 1997 Beanie Baby handbook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The BB handbook '97 only shows the Beanies they have, and not good pictures either. Beanie Mania has perfecto pictures and they mention all early and a little late 1997 Beanies. And I'm happy they don't say "Put those Beanies in Ziploc bags" TY made Beanies for kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Loved it...you must have it!.......1998-08-07
This was my first BB book I ever purchased. It is chock full of color pictures and info and facts about each beanie. It has- chronology, tag history, collectible ranking, market trend analysis, information guides, oddities and charts for the reader to fill in with their own beanie info. Anyone who purchases this book will refer to is over and over. Both Beckys need to create an updated book with the l998 info. This would definately be well received by all the readers who purchased the first Beanie Mania Guide. Enjoy!
A "must have" for serious Beanie Baby collectors.......1998-07-28
The most serious book on Ty's Beanies thus far. Truly comprehensive, informative and enjoyable reading. A through guide to swing and tush tags; an excellent reference guide. I loved the pictures of Ty's prototypes and production errors! I had hesitated to buy yet another book on Beanies; after purchasing Beanie Mania I wished I had purchased it sooner. I have referred back to it on many occasions. Another plus: it's pages are filled with information! NOT kids drawings, games and letters on why they love Beanies! (Bless their little hearts!).Although it does not have the newer releases, the serious collector should add this book to their library!
Excellent book, but missing a few things.......1998-06-16
This is an awesome book! It is definitely the most colorful and one of the most interesting Beanie Baby books available. Beanie Mania covers several types of older and retired Beanies along with fabulous photos of every version of most of the Beanies. Also included is information on tags, prototypes, and Teenie Beanie Babies. However, especially since the book is almost a year old, it does not talk about or show pictures of newer Beanies. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend it!!!

Customer Reviews:
really informative!.......1999-06-16
I just got started collecting, and this book has given me all the background information on what to expect. It's impossible for any book to keep up to date with the actual Beanies, but you won't find a better guide to the hobby itself.
The definitive book for collectors........1999-04-20
Some many books on BBs are simply price lists or have a very limited period of usefulness. This one is different and will be my reference of choice. There is no way to predict what Ty will do, but this is the book that can track what has happened to date. The section on spotting counterfeits is invaluable and has saved me from making a couple of costly mistakes. I also got some chuckles from the creatively posed beanies in the nice color photos. Right after reading my own copy, I immediately sent a copy to my beanie-crazed young nieces.
Nice Try.......1999-04-02
This book is a good attempt at being different from all of the other Beanie Baby books and guides. However, it is not that easy to read because the authors grouped the Beanies according to genre, not alphabetically. Black and white pictures were not all that useful. Some background information (but not a lot) sets this book apart from the rest of the pack. However, it makes little attempt at saying what makes a particular beanie baby popular or unpopular or with whom. A good guide to starting out in the hobby but not useful if you are already immersed.
ONE OF THE BEST BEANIE BOOKS EVER.......1999-02-07
This is a great book about BEANIE BABIES! This is especialy good for beginner collectors. It teaches you special facts about the beanies and how to collect them. I think if you like beanie babies you should deffintly get this book!!!!!!!!
This is a really great info beanie baby book!!!.......1999-01-29
I really liked this book because it had all kinds of odd information. There is more than 5 blurbs of different facts per page. It has how to avoid counterfits, facts about each beanie, and more. It even has a checklist with pictures. This is definatly the best Beanie Baby book I own. It is perfect for begginers and experienced Beanie collectors.

Buy if you HAVE to........1999-07-31
All in all, this book was just plain good. I was disappointed with it though. The prices were very inaccurate for the time. I urge you to look at other books.
As a beginning beaniologist, this was a great first read.........1998-07-09
While it is impossible to keep prices current, as a starter beanie collector, I found this guide a useful resource. I still refer to it as I make my way through the mountain of plush with beans out there. I'm happy with it.. though the picture quality for some of the beanies could have been significantly improved.. Its worth the $15 I paid. (:o)
quality of pictures poor.......1998-06-28
Frankly, I was disappointed in this book. It has some good information, but the quality of the pictures is very poor. Many of them are out of focus or too far away and look very amateurish. Also, the prices for the Beanies seem out of date. I wish I could get Righty for $110.00.
cool cool!.......1998-06-26
It has every thing you want.even prices.
Good Information, but..........1998-06-20
The books is a must for the beginning bean bag collector. Who knew there were so many different versions of the little bean filled critters?! For anyone curious about what's out there, and what to look for, this book is great. It could have done without the price guides, though. Since it's so hard to keep price guides current, it could confuse the begining collector. Keep in mind, these "going prices" Brecka refers to are the "going prices" when she wrote the book, not what they are now. She ought to have left the prices guides for the monthly magazines. Another thing, there is almost TOO much detailed information about the Ty Beanie Babies. Though they may be the hottest items in the book now, do they really deserve sixty-five pages when the other brands only get one or two at the most? Pictures and names would have probably been enough. Still, I think these book is worth a read.

Outdated within weeks after its release. Collectors and enthusiasts are better served by Mary Beth magazines and internet.
