Beginners Origami.......2007-09-13
I like this book because the pictures and instructions were very clear. The difficulty of each piece is labeled. It is a good book for teaching children the art of Origami.
kids loved it.......2007-07-05
i got this for my 6 kids and they've used it so much, the pages are falling out.
Hours of Fun.......2007-01-13
This is a great family book. The projects are rated easy to difficult and the drawings are extremly easy to follow. All you need is the origami paper (available at Target or any art supply store). The finished products are amusing as well as useful. It's a book I always grab when we leave on vacation. Full of entertainment value, timeless.
Good.......2006-11-20
Some instructions are insufficient for COMPLICATED ones. Otherwise not bad. thats why 5 stars.
Must try.
Nice stocking stuffer.......2006-08-07
This little bookk, at a great price, makes a nice intro to origami. It is very basic. I found that most of the paterns in this book are repeated in Montroll's "Teach Yourself Origami," so I passed this on on to a cousin who was intrigued when she saw what I'd been doing. It's fine as far as it goes, but it isn't intended to go vary far. You can't beat the price. I thought it was a misprint.

Neat book.......2005-08-04
This kit is fun and not too hard. I needed help on some of them, but the directions are very detailed and I was able to do most of them on my own.

Pprecise instructions.......2007-08-23
This is my first book on gift wrapping, and I couldn't have made a better choice. Instructions were very precise and easy to follow.
So good that my copy was stolen.......2007-06-10
I'm guessing that this book is good. My mother 'stole' my copy before I had a chance to look and won't give it back.
Golden award for this book!.......2007-03-14
Now this is a book you really must have!
If your in to gift wrapping, this is your guide. Many examples, matching photo's, clear instructions. Everything you need to know is in here.
Both gift wrapping itself plus bow making techniques are comprehensively explained.
I'd say: If you wish to gift yourself, buy this book!
very detailed .......2006-04-06
Filled with step by step photos. Most useful were: how to wrap a melon, polygon and triangle, how to make 7+ different kinds of bows from ribbon and how to wrap a wine bottle. The last tip is especially useful since I never liked the look of those wine bottle gift bags.
With this book, I will not be afraid of buying nice but oddly shaped gifts. Overall it's a compact technical primer but dont expect anything innovative or overly artsy.
Utilizes explicit step-by-step instructions.......2004-05-03

Customer Reviews:
Excellent overall, but not the best for beginners........2006-04-11
Very good diagrams. Projects range from very easy to more advanced, following a logical progression.
Appears to be out of print.
For beginners, I recommend Hediaki Sakata's _Origami_.(Please note that Amazon has an incorrect subtitle on Sakata's book).
Never gets old..........2005-12-04
I bought this book when I was about 11 years old. I am now 20, and still use it. All the base folds are relevant for alot of the more advanced models that I fold. I will never get rid of this book, and it should be in every origami lover's library!
Excellent beginner origami book.......2005-09-14
This is one of the best beginners books there is. Models are grouped into chapters covering the different origami models with a range of easy pieces which will give the beginner plenty of practice with basic folds and techniques. The finished results are attractive and in some cases downright exciting - the Steve Biddle Father Christmas is one of my favourite models. I also like the Kawahata pteranodon.
The book progresses towards more advanced work which is nevertheless produced in the characteristic clear style of the books by Steve and Megumi Biddle. They use standard diagrammatic language so that once you have learned from this book you will be able to pick up most other origami books and work from them.
In addition, once you have made all the models in the book you will be an intermediate level folder and ready for more advanced challenges!
I recommend this book which will make a great gift, but be sure to provide some paper with it as it does not include a pack of origami paper the way some beginners books do.
Perfect for beginers.......2002-08-17
This is the perfect starting origami book it has wonderful digrams and most the models are pretty simple even the dragon shown on the cover is pretty simple, although there are a few harder models. The one downside to this book is there aren't very many origanal models although the ones that do exist are very cool. people just starting origami haven't seen that many models so what i just said isn't a problem for them. I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to learn the art of origami
Great place to start and mature.......2001-01-12
I bought this book to broaden the range of things that I could fold (knowing just 2 or 3 origami before reading this). It has exceeded my expectations. Not only did I quickly learn new things that I could fold, I also learned a broad range of fundamental patterns for origami, plus I found detailed instructions on complex models.
There are a variety of simple hat, box, flower, and animal models that you learn from the very start, but the patterns range up to much more complex models, like a wonderful Santa Claus origami that I've folded several times to add to Christmas presents. That one still takes me about half an hour to fold, but I'm working on it. This book covers many origami that can be made from a fairly broad set of basic folds, so you can go a long way with just this book.
The instructions are generally very clear with words and pictures for everything you need to do. The models do build on one another, however, and later in the book there are often back-references to previous pieces (which may themselves refer to earlier pieces). You should not expect to jump immediately to the most complex origami (unless you have significant prior experience, I guess).
I was prepared to buy a couple of books, if necessary, to learn a variety of interesting things to fold, but having purchased this one, I have not felt the need to buy another so far. I highly recommend this book.

Customer Reviews:
Quick & Easy is a PERFECT title........2007-10-01
Being new to origami boxes, the title caught my attention, and didn't disappoint. The book is only 62 pages, however it teaches as much as most other bigger books do. It is spiral bound, so it lays flat during the folding steps (if you already do origami, you know how important this is). The boxes are very easy, some requiring only 10-12 steps to fully construct. The designs of the boxes are beautiful for being so simple. The folding illustrations are very, very clear and easy to understand. It is also a plus that the book comes with enough paper (60 sheets in 6 bright colors) to make each box.
Of the 15 or so books I have on origami, I would put this in the top 5, as one that I will use over and over again.
Great modular origami.......2002-09-20
This book is probably the single reason modular origami continues to gain new fans. Pick up this book, and fold the beginning boxes... In no time, you'll be hooked and want to fold every box, shortly after that you'll want to experiment with different papers/colors/patterns/etc. This book, (while fundamentally simple..the charm of modular...) has a wealth of great boxes. The best part is, when you are done, the boxes can be used as gifts, or gift boxes, and look great for any celebration. I highly recommend this book to all origami fans, but not too people who are only interested in finding difficult models.
This Book is the best.......2002-02-21
What else should I say .. it's the best ! really
Pocket size reference for boxes.......2001-08-04
Looking at this book again to see what others thought of it, I am surprise I had not written a review of it, especially since I used this book or rather booklet rather often.
Tomoko Fuse is famous for its boxes. Boxes are also well liked by the masses but unfortunately most are unable to differentiate between one square box from another despite the differences in outward appearances in patterns or designs. Hence, if I need to quickly make simple boxes, this booklet is ideal and easy to carry with me.
Three kinds of boxes are taught with their variations, square boxes (with partitions), triangular boxes and hexagonal boxes. I missed the octagonal boxes which is a favourite of mine too. All boxes have lids included.
Tomoko has many designs but this booklet teaches the simpler ones but the effect is the same when compared with the more intricate ones.
I would strongly recommend this book even if you purchase every book on boxes churned out by Tomoko Fuse. I try to collect all of them and I still find this booklet worth it.
Great package!.......1999-04-13
I bought this for myself but it would make an excellent gift. It contains a compact ring-bound color booklet and two packets of origami paper. These are beginning to low-intermediate folds and the results are impressive. I make the boxes for my daughter but have had requests from my office co-workers.

The best beginner's origami book I have found!.......1999-08-08
I have tried to learn origami from books before, without any success. That was not the case with this book. The instructions and drawings are amazingly clear. My frustration has turned to delight!
The models in the book are fun (Jumping Frog, Paper Balloon, Talking Puppet) and practical (Picture Frame, Catch-All Box, Book, Envelope) and decorative (Swan, Peace Crane). Included are ideas for what to do with the finished models plus many helpful hints for teaching origami.
This is the perfect book for anyone wishing to learn origami.

Great For Kids!.......2000-04-01
My child was doing a report on origami. I decided to get her this book, and she absolutely loved it. It even contained history, where she could take notes on it and write an A+ report. If you're a beginner at origami, and you would like to learn so much, I would highly recommend this detailed and easy-to-follow book!

Customer Reviews:
Our family loved this book.......2007-02-02
Our children (ages 6 and under) are homeschooled, and we checked this book out from the juvenile section of our library for our study on Japan. We loved it so much that we are planning to buy it very soon from Amazon.com (with our next order). I love the way it explains how to make things. There is a very good explanation (with both drawings and pictures) at the beginning of the book showing how to make all the various basic folds you need to know, as well as the meaning of symbols used throughout the book. Then there are pages of things you can make, and they are divided by difficulty level -- very easy, easy or more challenging. Now, my girls are young and might not have the patience to do much origami yet, but it would be a great book if they were just a bit older. They loved the tree, butterfly and airplanes I made them though. I plan to buy this book and add it to our personal home library, so we can use it more often. You can use the "search inside" feature to see examples of the pages in this book. We loved this book and we hope you will enjoy this book also.
Book Description
Instructions enabling the reader to reproduce the charming origami works of Kunihiko Kasahara, which are filled with the artist's love of his art and his sparkling sense of humor.
Customer Reviews:
One of the best overall books.......2003-04-08
I have about 300 origami books and have designed several hundred of my own models and Origami Made Easy is still the book I most recommend.
Kunihiko Kasahara is one of the most prolific origami writers. Origami Made Easy is one of his older books but it has been constantly in print and that is rare in origami books.
The book is nicely organized in sections by theme and the drawings are quite clear. The diagrams follow the standard Yoshizawa\Randlett style using just diagrams and almost no text to show how to fold figures.
Some of my favorite models are in this book, including my favorite peacock.
I have always felt it was best to learn origami by example with a teacher or tutor and not straight from a book (as I was forced to do), but for folders just getting into the art I would always recommend this book.
thumbs down.......2001-08-23
this book is good for giving instruction on the different forms of folds but the illistrations and diagrams are were this book lacks. the diagrams are there but there is only one or two explinations of the different steps. I find it very hard to follow instructions when all I see is a picture telling me to do something and I don't have an explination. so I say if your in need of learning how to make certain folds then by all means use this book but using it to learn how to make an item is very difficult and I don't recomend this book.
Good basic book for beginners.......2001-05-07
This was one of my first origami books. I now have several dozen origami books, but I still come back to this for a few models every now and then.
It is a very good book for learning/teaching the basics, and the models reflect the attribute I most admire in Kasahara's work - elegance. Be they simple or complicated, Mr. Kasahara's models have just the right balance of detail, to make them look full, and restraint, to avoid looking forced.
This makes an excellent introduction to origami, not only in its instruction of the techniques of paper-folding but also in the esthetics of what makes a model successful.
Good for children and beginners, but very short.......2000-07-15
This is a pretty short basic origami book. It has simplemodels that are fairly well illustrated. It's geared more towardschildren or for classroom use. Frankly, I felt ripped off taking this book out of the library. There are better uses of your origami dollars. I could see this, along with a pack of paper, making a nice gift for a child. I would definitely not buy it for someone past 12.
