3 out of 5 stars pleased some what.......2007-01-21

The book isnt everything we were looking for,it is fun and it does show you things to make but not enough. My son made a few things but some of the things in the book are not something you would make. He did say the frame was to long to make.
He did make a wallet and he uses it. I just thought there would be more things in it.

Duct Tape is cheap..and it's available in a wide array of colors now too.
My daughter got this book from us for Christmas, along with about 5 rolls of tape that I bought separately.
She LOVES this book. It has about 25 different crafts...including clothing, glasses, and hats you can make from tape.
Great fun! She spent several hours making things.

4 out of 5 stars Great for Teachers.......2006-07-15

My high school students loved the design unit I taught based on the elements of design by creating accessories with duct tape. Written by a high school student who was also bitten by the duct tape bug, makes this book very relevant to teens. In fact, they got so involved they worked till the bell rang and had to hurry to their next class.

The projects are relatively simple and the instructions are easy to follow. There is a variety of projects from wallets and purses to can holders and a tie for her dad. This is a great starter book for the duct tape enthusiast. The price is very reasonable.

Who knows, maybe your teen will get hooked and win the Duck Tape Prom clothing scholarship.

5 out of 5 stars A Must For Intrested Duct Tape Amateurs!.......2006-03-22

When I first saw this book I was intrested in but compleately inadept with duct tape. This book gave me ideas, inspiration and instructions.

It really helped me get going, and I am now much better with duct tape and have even compleated several pieces of costume clothing!

Don't get me wrong, using duct tape and making it look nice take a lot of effort. Learning to make your duct tape creations look great will take a lot of patience and a lot of time you can dedicate to it until you get the hang of it you will have to make things over and over so they will look good.

If you are willing to spend the time (and duct tape) to make things it's a ton of fun and is definently worth the effort when you finish your first creation.

I'd recomend this book to ages 9 and up.

2 out of 5 stars Inspiring words- minature book- extremly minature.......2007-10-09

I guess I overlooked the word minature (my fault) at a glance it just looked like the regular size book and was very excited to find it at such a good price, and hardcover at that! PLEASE know if you order this you are not going to get the full version of the book. I am going to pay closer attention and get the whole thing next time. Felt a bit silly when I opened my package and the book was about 2 inches x 4 inches. For me I'm going to BAM and shop in person for this one!

1 out of 5 stars Total Disapointment.......2007-10-05

This is not a book but a sham, A full sized book was shown on the web-site, but when the order showed up it was a minature. After reviewing the web-site I was able to find the word minature in small print. Not sure if I will use Amazon again

1 out of 5 stars Deceptive: Not the complete edition.......2007-09-06

[Added 9/07/2007] This review concerns the "Inspirio/Zondervan Miniature Edition" which is a hardback. Amazon has lumped this hardback edition with the full text hardback edition so the site does not indicate that this review does not concern the full hardback edition. Caveat Emptor

We ordered this book, thinking it was the complete edition of the book. Neither the Amazon page nor the book itself make it clear that it is merely an abridged version. The only way to tell is to note that this edition has 125 pages and a full sized edition has 200+ pages. Needless to say, we will be returning it to purchase the complete edition. I am looking forward to reading the content as I have heard good things about it.

2 out of 5 stars Cute little item........2007-09-02

Be careful about your purchase. The one we acquired was a miniture version. The type was ok and you could read it, but the book was about 2" x 3". It was a miniture and not at all what we thought we were acquiring. We wanted the whole book. When ordering we did not notice that it was a miniture edition.

A nice, inspiring, easy-to-read but incomplete book, which contains a small portion of the original edition. The description should indicate, in addition to the dimensions of the book, that the full text is not included.

Book Description

African-American folklore was Zora Neale Hurston's first love. Collected in the late 1920's Every Tongue Got to Confess, from the celebrated author of Their Eyes Were Watching God, is published here for the first time, beautifully performed by Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis.

Hilarious, bittersweet, and often saucy, these folk-tales provide a verdant slice of African-American life in the rural South at the turn of the twentieth century. They capture the heart and soul of the vital, independent, and creative community that so inspired Zora Neale Hurston.

In Every Tongue Got to Confess, Hurston records, with uncanny precision, the voices of ordinary people -and no two actors better capture this world than Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis. They pay tribute to the richness of Black vernacular -- its crisp self-awareness, singular wit, and improvisational wordplay. These folk-tales reflect the joys and sorrows of the African-American experience, celebrate the redemptive power of storytelling, and showcase the continuous presence in America of an Afticanized language that flourishes to this day.

4 out of 5 stars Telling the truth and shaming the devil...Zora's Way!.......2003-01-30

It was said from those that knew her best, that African-American folklore was Zora Neale Hurstonýs first love. The ability to manifest in, and excel within the margins of her own peopleýswapping lies, telling tales, and giving unique meaning to life from the backhand side. Thus, if any part of her legacy is to prevail, one should pay close attention to this side of her that I feel truly helped to define her writing style. No doubt, the genesis of it all goes back to her Eatonville, Florida roots sitting on the porch of the neighborhood story listening to the older men adhere to the aforementioned. Subsequently as a Barnard student of Anthropology under the guidance of Franz Boaz, she embarked in 1927 on a two-year effort to collect samples of African-American folklore. This sets the stage for Negro Tales From The Gulf States, which can boast of an interesting evolution. This is a book written by Zora that was almost an afterthought, until recently discovered after lying in obscurity for nearly 30 years. All of this time, it was stored in a basement at Columbia University, and 20 more at the Smithsonian before coming to light at the urging of the authorýs estate and others.

What we have here in borrowing Zoraýs own words ý ýauthenticity to preserve the tale-tellers way of speakingýsavoring the boiled-down juice of human livingý. The book is well written and organized by subject. Read it and revel in how the author used and presented vernacular that would be recognized today as Ebonicsýeveryday idiomatic expressionism. You will witness improvisational wordplay and given an apt explanation of how these folktales were collected, lost, found, and examined for the deep significance they hold today. These lost southern tales are brought to life by Zoraýs commanding use of syntax mixed with a sense of urgency. Most of them are infused with humorous stories making a point that we can all identify with. She makes it pointedly clear that folktales were a direct link to our ancestral background, and served a purpose. I marveled at how she was able to use stories made famous by others in how they were reworked and related from a black point of view, giving them a special cross-cultural ring. For instance, to the story of a woman who promises the devil that she will break up a marriage in exchange for a pair of shoes, or how she gives reasons why God gave women keys to the bedroom, the kitchen, and the cradle. You will die laughing, and you will definitely be amused by the punch lines and the Zora penchant for comedic timing.

If thereýs a reason to want to understand folktales told from the mind of this unique storyteller, youýd want to be enlightened in digesting this type of wit that the author seem to make timeless. In accumulating this body of work, Hurston clearly placed as much emphasis on imagination as on truism. Often she got both. With all the other offering of late alluding to Zora Neale Hurston, you might as well add this book to your collection. You wonýt regret it!

5 out of 5 stars Like a Window to the Past.......2001-12-17

If only Zora Neale Hurston could've published this book during her lifetime! Luckily her papers containing her research were rediscoveredand we now have this gorgeous collection of stories. Some of them were familiar to me from listening to my grandparents tell tall tales, others were completely new. These stories are funny, frightening and enlightening. Our elders and ancestors were amazing people with a tough and even cynical sense of humor. If we are lucky more of Hurston's research will be found and more will be published.

Kimberley Wilson, author of 11 Things Mama Never Told You About Men

5 out of 5 stars Excellent collection of Black Folklore.......2001-12-07

If you grew up hearing older folks get together and swap wild stories, or if you have an academic interest in folklore, then this is for you! Essentially, the great Folklorist Zora Neale Hurston spent 1928 and 29 among rural Blacks in Florida and Alabama jotting down their folk tales and witty sayings. Being a Black Southerner herself gave her an insider's access that made her interviewees comfortable in sharing with her. The final manuscript, "Negro Folktales of the Gulf States" remained unpublished till now. Some of these tales were published in 1935 with a framework story of Miss Hurston's adventures among her interviewees entitled "Mules and Men." But here, the stories exist in their orignial, uncut form without a framework story. Once the modern reader becomes accustomed to the printed approximation of Southern African-American dialect, you can sit back and enjoy the folk wisdom and humorous tales. So imagine that Grandpa, Uncle Wille, and all the others are gathered around your porch with a pitcher of lemonade on a pleasant afternoon and enjoy this African-American equivalent to "Aesop's Fables" and "The Arabian Nights."

The author of Waiting to Exhale checks in again with a fresh, exuberant novel. Stella Payne is a Superwoman who has everything--except a man to rock her world, something she's convinced she can well do without. On a spur-of-the-moment Jamaican vacation she meets Winston, a man half her age, and finds, to her dismay, that her world is indeed well and truly rocked. Stella soon realizes that she's come to a cataclysmic juncture in her life, one that forces new and difficult questions about her passions and expectations.

Book Description

Stella Payne is forty-two, divorced, a high-powered investment analyst, mother of eleven-year-old Quincy- and she does it all. In fact, if she doesn't do it, it doesn't get done, from Little League carpool duty to analyzing portfolios to folding the laundry and bringing home the bacon. She does it all well, too, if her chic house, personal trainer, BMW, and her loving son are any indication. So what if there's been no one to share her bed with lately, let alone rock her world? Stella doesn't mind it too much; she probably wouldn't have the energy for love - and all of love's nasty fallout - anyway.

But when Stella takes a spur-of-the-moment vacation to Jamaica, her world gets rocked to the core - not just by the relaxing effects of the sun and sea and an island full of attractive men, but by one man in particular. He's tall, lean, soft-spoken, Jamaican, smells of citrus and the ocean - and is half her age. The tropics have cast their spell and Stella soon realizes she has come to a cataclysmic juncture: not only must she confront her hopes and fears about love, she must question all of her expectations, passions, and ideas about life and the way she has lived it.

Told in Stella's own exuberant, dead-on, dead honest voice, How Stella Got Her Groove Back is full of Terry McMillan's signature humor, heart, and insight. More than a love story, it is ultimately a novel about how a woman saves her own life - and what she must risk to do it.

A woman isn't too happy at the current point in time. She goes on holiday to one of those gated resorts in Jamaica to try and have a good time and maybe do a bit of young man cradle snatching into the process.

She gets a bit more than she bargained for and decides to try and import her bloke, dealing with the complications.

Women in their 40's can be sexy and sassy, as you'll find out in this fun and entertaining story drawn from the author's own marriage.

5 out of 5 stars This is such a great story, looks like it's time for a sequel.......2007-03-23

This book is so much fun to read. It's a fantasy event only deepened and made more fun by Stella's realistic assessment of her chances at love over 40. Terry made her heroine sexy and sassy, things I didn't associate much with women that age (I stand corrected, thanks!). I just read something that made me shake my head though. Based on the author's actual romance-turned-marriage, McMillan is accusing her now ex-husband of trying to "humiliate and embarrass Terry McMillan and violate her privacy" [...] Please, the guy was gay in Jamaica, closeted and probably did love her. From someone who made this romance public and made lots of money off of the ex, she's coming off like a bully who lost control. Hey, the best revenge would be writing a 'fictionalized' sequel, right?! Terry, let go already and get writing, we want you to get your groove back again!

2 out of 5 stars My least favorite Terry McMillian book.......2007-03-14

I've read other books by Terry McMillian and really enjoyed them. "How Stella Got Her Groove Back" was a disappointment. From page one I didn't like Stella. She seemed to be in love with herself. Also the constant run on sentences were annoying.
The story was a predictable fairy tale.
Not recommended.

5 out of 5 stars This book touched me deeply!.......2006-11-15

The Way Stalin's Groove Came Back is first-rate literature. Smella is a wonderful heroine and it is a refreshment to finally see the postive portrayal of puppeteers in this society of ours which puts so much stimgata on them. Stoola lets people know that a summer romance is a beautiful thing with puppets.

Book Description

Here at last is the account of the O.J. Simpson case that no one else has dared to write, that no one else could write. In Outrage, the famed prosecutor of Charles Manson and bestselling author of Helter Skelter goes to the heart of the trial that divided the country and made a mockery of justice.  Vincent Bugliosi, who never lost a murder case, brilliantly outlines the five reasons why O.J. Simpson got away with murder: the worst possible jury, a sloppy and incomplete prosecution, a fatal change of venue, judicial error that allowed the defense to play the race card, and a weak summation and rebuttal that barely addressed the defense's frame-up and conspiracy theories. He reveals:

--The offer Marcia Clark and Bill Hodgman should never have refused.
--The bluff that saved the defense's cardboard case.
--What Deputy Sheriff Jeff Stuart overheard when Rosey Grier visited Simpson in jail.
--The 17 words Johnnie Cochran used to cover his argument that could have been his undoing if caught.
--Why the jurors never heard Simpson's first police interview-- filled with self-incriminating statements that alone could have convicted him of murder.

1.  What mistake in jury selection could have cost Marcia Clark the trial--even before she argued the case?

2. What did Simpson do to make sure the gloves wouldn't fit?

3. How did Judge Ito's behavior towards Marcia Clark prejudice the jury?

4. Why did the prosecutors suppress Simpson's "smoking gun"?

5. How did Johnnie Cochran con the jury?

6. Who might really have suggested that Simpson try on the evidence gloves?

5 out of 5 stars Had Bugliosi been the prosecutor, Simpson would have been put away without parole - where he belongs!.......2007-10-01

In light of O.J. Simpson's latest legal troubles (to which I now firmly believe in the power of "what goes around comes around"), I must say that I was completely bored with the so-called "Trial of the Century" media circus in 1995 and did not believe, for one second, that Simpson was remotely innocent (it's nice to see, all these years later, how his most vociferous defenders then have changed their tune now).

The American legal system is a complete joke and the media circus of the O.J. Simpson trial proved it ... and then some! The whole thing reminded me of the so-called "Manson Family" trial in 1970 (that I read about in newspapers on microfilm) for the murders of Sharon Tate, et. al., the previous year. So it's very fitting that retired Los Angeles District Attorney Vincent Bugliosi, who put that clown Manson and his pack of zombies away, would comment on another media circus that would occur a quarter of a century later where the victims were, once again, completely forgotten.

I firmly believe had Mr. Bugliosi prosecuted Simpson, he would have been in the can - without the possibility of parole - right where he belongs!

District Attorneys Marcia Clark and Christopher Darden, along with judge Lance Ito, were more concerned with becoming celebrities than in doing their jobs - and that was to be the voice of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman in the courtroom. It was a given that Simpson's so-called legal "Dream Team" would turn the proceedings into a circus, but the judge and the DAs played the game, too, and it left doubts as to the level of their professionalism (and rightfully so).

At 19 years old, I was so disgusted with reading and hearing about Marcia Clark's hairdo, whether or not Clark and Darden had something going, how Ito shaved his face this week that I would run away from the TV everytime the proceedings were on or if the case was being covered on the nightly news. I know now, as I knew then, that I didn't miss anything - and Mr. Bugliosi's book reinforced that point.

I read Mr. Bugliosi's book not too long after its release and I concur with another reviewer in that if there's anyone who still believes in Simpson's "innocence," this book will shatter that ... and then some!

Mr. Bugliosi does what a competent attorney would (and should) do and that is making Swiss cheese of the other side's case. He ripped everyone involved with this case brand new ones - he shot major holes through the defense, but also appropriately ripped Clark and Darden for being more concerned with fame than in doing their jobs.

I'm not crazy about DAs or the legal system in general, but folks such as Vincent Bugliosi are one of the very few bright spots of the entire legal system.

Sometimes one can't help but feel the system is aptly titled the "criminal justice" system and I certainly felt that way after the verdict was read (and then to hear those biased jurors say they believed he was guilty, but let him off because of the Rodney King brouhaha really soured me on the whole jury thing).

But if every lawyer - defense attorney, district attorney, even judges - had the same set of legal standards and integrity that Vincent Bugliosi displayed during his career (who lost exactly one murder case out of a hundred in his career, among other case wins), I honestly believe the public wouldn't be so down on lawyers. His professionalism certainly comes through in this book. - Donna Di Giacomo

5 out of 5 stars Maybe overwritten, never overstated.......2007-07-13

Reading, and re-reading parts of this book, cause this layman to wonder why some points were either mis-handled by the Prosecution or simply ignored. Bugliosi brilliantly points out how they consistently let their witnesses appear as incompetents or liars; how they mishandled *the* key piece of evidence - why would the man on trial use this evidence against himself in view of the whole world?; why wouldn't they discuss the Bronco chase?. I reflected upon them not using the witness (considered an undependable "star-gazer") to a person resembling O.J. Simpson driving erratically at about 10:50pm [though her violation of deposition security standards was enough to invalidate her taking the stand]; not making reference to a recently completed motion picture starring (or featuring?) the man on trial playing a character who murders people in the night, using a similiar weapon? (Just maybe these images were still in his head after the film was completed?). Why the Prosecution team couldn't simply state up front that "We are here to prove that the blood of *three* people was found at that scene; and one of those people sits at the Defense desk in this Courtroom" (?).
Bugliosi scrutinizes, with microscopic vision, the way a courtroom, the place where the law is administered in the eyes of God, into low slapstick. He doesn't look for reasons outside the trial - he simply analyses the scene, and then we can look at it with a combination of dismay and hope.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Brilliant..........2007-06-19

Too bad Bugliosi couldn't have prosecuted this case...Orenthal James Simpson would be behind bars today if he had.

I, like the author, watched with disgust as Simpson got away with the brutal murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. When I saw this book in my local bookstore several years ago, I snatched it up. I knew that Vincent Bugliosi had written "Helter Skelter" about his prosecution of the Manson family, and that was one of the scariest things I had ever read...I could also see, by the title of this book, that Mr. Bugliosi was as revolted by the spectacle of the Simpson trial as I was.

He points out the many, many mistakes made by the prosecution in this case, which ought to have been a clear win but instead turned into what could almost be called a comedy of errors...if it wasn't such a tragedy.

For the reviewer who stated that Nicole was a party girl, etc....who cares if she was?? She did not deserve to be slaughtered, nor did Ron Goldman.

O.J. Simpson did these crimes and is walking around free, playing golf, smiling, and laughing it up. One can only hope for an afterlife, so that Mr. Simpson can finally get what's coming to him...an eternity in hell.

4 out of 5 stars Honest, Straight-Forward Analysis of the OJ Trial.......2006-11-10

Bugliosi details all of the mistakes made during the prosecution of OJ Simpson. He describes outlandish mistakes by both the prosecution and the defense and how, given the volume of damning evidence, the case should have been a slam-dunk. Lawyers are too much like politicians--getting caught up in the media coverage and focusing way too much on appearances, forgetting the substance of the situation. You'll see exactly why this was the most famous and most screwed-up trial in American history. Fie on the whole lot of them, including Simpson. Great reading!

3 out of 5 stars Or How I Would Have Won.......2006-09-21

Vincent Bugliosi, author and prosecutor who successfully convicted Charles Manson as conspirator in the Helter Skelter murders of Sharon Tate and the LaBiancos, catalogues the mistakes of the prosecution, the judge, the media, the jury and the case.

In short, Bugliosi states what the defense should have not been allowed to do, what the judge and prosecution should have done, and how the jury should have responded. In other words, had he been prosecutor, he tells us how he would have done it differently and won.

We learn the results of O.J.'s lie detector results here. He scored a minus 22. This is about the lowest score a person can receive. He lied. We also learn how Bugliosi would have attacked the defense's assertion that the three (white) detectives conspired to convict O.J. Simpson with planted evidence.

Bugliosi's argument is that conspiracy to frame a person charged with a crime punishable by death is itself a crime punishable by death in California. The defense would have had us believe that two detectives on the verge of retirement would have entered into a conspiracy with a detective they didn't know (Mark Fuhrman), and plant or taint evidence against Simpson because they were racist. For their supposed racism, they would have risked their careers, pension, jail and death to get Simpson. Bugliosi makes a strong argument here that this would have been a stretch especially for three savvy detectives. The prosecution failed to challenge this wild assertion.

He makes Judge Ito out to be what he was, a man who bent over backwards to appease the media and the defense when the latter should have been held in contempt many times.

This is about the trial more than the story of O.J. Simpson, a man whose story has divided a nation in a way that hasn't occurred until our current political divisions.

Like more than half the nation, I am so convinced that he did commit those murders, I would bet the mortgage, and my career.

Sadly, the belief in innocence or guilt falls right along racial lines.

      It's a miracle they're related

Apart from being sisters and living in Dublin, Nessa, Cate, and Bree Driscoll couldn't be more different. Nessa's the happy homemaker, tending to her doting husband Adam and little girl Jill and boasting of marital bliss. Cate, a career go-getter with a knock-out wardrobe, lives with her drop-dead gorgeous boyfriend, Finn -- a famous radio host who's about to break into TV -- and never wants kids. Youngest sis Bree -- a mechanic who's happier riding her motorcycle than chasing guys -- is the free spirit of the family, the one who'll never settle down. No wonder they bicker all the time.

In one way they're the same.

When Nessa begins to suspect that Adam isn't the faithful man he seems, all three sisters are shocked. But with the perfect sheen of Nessa's life finally chipped, Cate might just allow herself to admit that things with Finn aren't exactly wonderful either. And, as her two older siblings debate loving and leaving and kicking their men to the curb, Bree dares to embark upon a relationship of her own. Soon all three sisters face unexpected revelations that will show them that they can all stand on their own two feet if they have to...and that they've got each other to lean on no matter what.

4 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book!.......2007-08-27

I saw this book when I was browsing through the bookstore, was intrigued by the title, bought it and gave it a shot. It was definitely worth it. Definitely a good book for the distraction I needed, and a good, believeable story. The characters in the book were well-developed, and the three sisters- Nessa, Cate, and Bree were very likeable. You really felt what each was going through. I felt Nessa's pain of losing trust in the man you've slept next to for the last ten years and discovering he's not the person you think he is. It really put you in her shoes, as if it was affecting you, and what is running through the minds of many women unfortunate enough to have an unfaithful spouse. I felt for Cate when she was struggling with her agonizing decision, and her reasoning in the book was pretty spot on with what many women go through in her situation. Bree's situation brought me back to the time when I was younger, wondering why I attract all the "weirdos". It has a nice, lighthearted ending, But at the same time, I'm glad the author kept it realistic and didn't go too over the top with the prince charming, fluffy endings of too many chick lit books out there. I look forward to seeing more from Shelia O'Flannagan!

4 out of 5 stars Great Traveling Book.......2006-01-31

I wanted a book to entertain me while traveling and this book did the trick. (I needed a book that I would not feel out of touch if I was not able to pick it up for a couple weeks.) Nessa, Cate and Bree made me laugh, yell, etc. with the sibling problems and love for one another. Through thick and thin your sisters will always be there for you.

This is the first book I've read from Sheila O'Flanagan and I really enjoyed it. I plan to read more of her books in the near future.

4 out of 5 stars Entertaining and true to life.......2004-04-14

Keeping in mind European relationships are vastly different than American, I found this book to be extremely entertaining. The relationships between the sisters rang true, the narration rang true, the whole book rang true...

      3 out of 5 stars Annoying Characters!.......2004-01-29

This book was good- it would have been great if two out of the three main characters weren't so grating on the nerves. While older sister Nessa was portrayed very accurately as a nagging, uptight, meddlesome worrier...after a while I just wanted to scream!! Half of the nagging was unneccessary for the plot or character development- and it just left me aggitated.

However, the younger sister, Bree, is what really took away from this book. The lack of reality that went into developing this character is mind-blowing. O'Flanagan is almost partronizing any reader who attempts to learn about Bree....does O'Flanagan honestly think that Michael was ever Bree's "boyfriend?" Let me just say, the continuous referral to Bree's "ex-boyfriend" (whom she ALMOST, but never did kiss- at the age of 25....) left me wondering just how immature the writer, or the reader, was expected to be to believe this. At first I was able to dismiss it, thinking this continuous reference to the guy she "loved" after three dates, who was her "boyfriend" even though they never even kissed, was O'Flanagan's way of expressing Bree's immaturity and lack of experience. However, when the seemingly worldly sisters started referring to Michael as Bree's "ex-boyrfriend" I just about stopped reading this book altogether.

Aside from this, the only character that really did it for me was Cate. But unfortunately, the author only skims the surface with her, and we are left seeing her through other character's eyes, rather than directly into her.

The plot was great. I can only imagine how wonderful this book COULD have been with better characters.

4 out of 5 stars entertaining relationship drama.......2003-12-31

In Ireland, of the three Driscoll siblings, Nessa seems to be the one to have it all together. She has lived in comfort as a Riley with Adam for almost a decade and they have an eight year old child. Her sisters Cate and Bree are poster girls for failed relationships.

However, Nessa believes paradise may be lost as evidence mounts that Adam is cheating especially when she consults her horoscope. Nessa wonders what to do as economically she cannot just dump Adam. She has no one to turn to for advice as her mother lives on the other side of the once emerald isle; Cate the crabby one is having problems with her boyfriend radio host Finn over her pregnancy; and finally Bree the mechanic has a host of trouble as she can't get to work on time though Adam keeps her supplied with repairs and the father of her boyfriend is in love with her.

HE'S GOT TO GO is an entertaining relationship drama starring three solid female protagonists about a decade apart in age and even further distanced in how they see male partners. The story line effortlessly swings back and before between the three women though the concentration is more on Nessa, but does not neglect Cate and Bree. The characters are all well developed, not just the three Driscoll sisters. Though the ending ties up for the most part the lives of Nessa and Cate and to a lesser degree Bree, it feels much too crammed inside a short climax. Still the audience will enjoy this fine tale and want to seek more works by Sheila O'Flanagan.

When I can actually see the creative sparks flying from my students, I know I've shown them something truly magical. We all very much enjoyed the variety of voices on the soundtrack . . . What a talented cast of performers! The CD makes even my imagination go wild! As for lessons, "How The Turtle Got Its Shell" taught my students that bravery comes not from physical strength but from mental determination and wit.

      4 out of 5 stars Great Adaption.......2002-07-10

There have been many adaptations to the story "How the Turtle Got Its Shell" and this is one of my favorites. I read the book to my 1st grade class and they loved it.
