Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Customer Reviews:
Wonderful book for hosting a fairy party.......2007-09-17
This book was very helpful in hosting my daughter's 6th birthday Fairy Party! It had wonderful ideas, invitations to punch out (although I had to photo copy to make more as it only came with 4), and a whole section on "manners" when hosting a fairy party. Out of the 3 books I bought on this subject this one was the most useful and my favorite.
Very little information.......2007-08-04
This book is beautiful, but not worth the price. It has very little information on having a fairy party. There is better, free information online.
Magical Book.......2007-02-15
I bought this as the companion book for Flower Fairies Tea Party theme at Birthday Express. I also bought Fairy Crafts: 23 Enchanting Toys, Gifts, Costumes, and Party Decorations & Sweet Pea's Garden: Special Things to Make. All of this combined to make my daughter's special day very magical. In fact, if I only had this book, and Sweet Pea's Garden, I still would have had everything I needed.
I admit the recipes aren't that original although I liked the idea of using peaches as little bowls for fruit salad. Martha Stewart has a great idea for a pixie party with a nice menu. And Fairy Food is a cute little cookbook by Rebecca Gilpin that might give you some ideas. I didn't buy this book for food ideas though and I loved it. This book is worth having just for the artwork! I taped a ziplock bag to the inside back cover to keep all the punch outs together. I plan on using this book again for many more parties. And I photo copied the invitations. There just weren't enough for all of my daughters guests. This book even touches slightly on a hostesses duties wich was perfect.
Wonderful, my daughter loves it........2006-01-26
While the book is indeed only 28 pages, that's hardly the point. Think of it as 28 pages of ideas and activites that will keep your child entertained for weeks. I am suprised that my daughter has managed to keep track of all the little pieces that came with the book. This book taught her this! She still reads/plays with this book after three months.
Book is just 28 pages.......2005-04-27
There are only 4 recipes, and those are far from original. And the entire book has only 28 pages!
Book Description
The latest story in the Stravaganza series unravels amid ever-more-dangerous politics and intrigue. Sky, a new Stravagante, is whisked away from his dreary life in London to Giglia, the Talian version of Florence. Featuring favorite characters from the first two titles in the series, including Georgia and Falco, as well as a host of exciting new characters, this breathtaking adventure will not disappoint.
But beware-in the beautiful City of Flowers, much that seems beautiful is in fact poisonous...
Customer Reviews:
Too many flaws in the end..........2007-09-19
I would have to say the Stravaganza series is one that get's worse in each book. I'm not so sure if the switching main chara's in each book was what did it, but I felt no liking for our third chara.
Because of this, the ending feels rather cheap when we return to Lucien and Arianna. The whole, and they "fell in love and lived happily ever after" only works when the two chara's actually spend time together and develop. That way it doesn't sound so fairy tale like. (I have a strong liking to books like HP, where fantasy feels realistic)
Yes, its exciting, but I wish it had been dull through the beginning, so I didn't rush to the end only to find I would never pick this book up again.
The relationships dont feel whole hearted, but rather, "I'm choosing you cuz I have no other choice and the book is nearly over,"
Also, through the whole series the Pagan worldview is blunt and annoying. The whole, "we worship a woman cuz we dont like men" came off feminist and disturbing. When it was introduced long ago it felt unneeded, since Lucien, and everyone else never felt time to wonder if she was even real. One has to wonder why we even have it?
If you care nothing for religion, and dont find yourself nitpicking over the unreal love in badly written stories (I confess, it's easy to want to live happily ever after no matter what) then you will enjoy this last book.
Why does it seem so many authors rush the last book????
Best one yet!!!!!.......2007-06-05
This was a GREAT book. I loved the first book in the series, City of Masks, and thought that none of the sequels could be any better. I was wrong!! The plot is full of twists and turns and so much happens on every page, there were some points I thought I would get lost. The author, however, does a perfect job of distinguishing each plot line and making everything clear. It was great to see all of the characters together and I enjoyed every part of the book. I would definately recommend this book to anyone looking for a good book, but only after reading the first two. This is the sort of book you can read over and over.
You're Gonna ¢¾ This Book.......2006-12-03
This book is a must read!!!! but not unless you've read City Of Masks and City of Stars. Hoffman creates and incredible world in (unfortunately) the last installment of this AMAZING series. You'll want to stay in Talia forever. This book had the perfect combination of love, adventure, suspense, and wit. For those of you who read the first 2 books to me City of Flowers was very shocking but in a good way. *****
ASTOUNDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......2005-11-25
I cannot write because i just finished this book and i am still under its spell! it was it was hmmmmTHE MOST AMAZING BOOK IN THE WORLD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT NOW (THAT MEANS ADULTS TOOO) READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT READ IT NOW NOW NOW IT WILL AMAZE YOU JUST LIKE IT AMAZED ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great stories to encourage young girls to read........2007-09-01
My 12 year old granddaughter has really taken an interest in reading during the last few months and I was looking for a fanciful and fun series after she had read all the Limney Snickets books she could get her hands on.
This fills the bill and today we just ordered 2 more for collection.
Jessie is back!.......2006-07-18
Jessie is back in Fairy Realm #2: The Flower Fairies! In this wonderful book,Jessie faces griffins, huge, powerful, and deadly creautures who guard the queen's important items. She also has to deal with flower fairies, who love to dance and play.Read this book to find out more!
Wonderful book for girls, 3 through 8 or so!.......2005-02-10
This book is the 2nd in the "Fairy Realm" series (the first being 'The Charm Bracelet'). I read this to my girls who are 5 and 7 and they both loved it! It's easy to follow, but has elements that really challenge kids' imaginations. Even my five-year-old spent time contemplating the goings-on in this book inbetween chapters.
In the first book, the heroine, "Jesse" must save the realm from a bad person. But in this book and the subsequent ones, the challenges are in Jesse having to rise to a particular challenge rather than defeat a "bad guy". In this story, it turns out, the folks in the realm are having problems because the Queen's pet Griffins are overzealous in their guard-dog responsibilities while the Queen is away travelling and Jesse must find a way to get them back on task, while simultaneously also working through one of her own problems (she can't dance, but has to do it in a school play).
The book is about 10 chapters long, each one will only take 10 minutes or less to read. It's probably written at a 3rd or 4th grade level so a young reader could read it themselves if they are up to grinding through 100 pages or so.
I personally don't think boys beyond 6 or 7 would be thrilled with this story, but this whole series is perfect for providing a young-girl hero/role-model for the young girl readers. And also, these stories do a very good-job of introducing fairy-tale and mythic elements that kids are going to encounter all through their lives in books and movies.
Overall, a great story and well worth reading for young girls.
Fantastic Fantasy Novel for Middle Readers.......2004-08-18
Young Jessie is now known as a hero in the Fairy Realm, thanks to her wonderful plan which saved the beautiful Realm from destruction by evil. In fact, she's so loved, and such a hero in Fairy Realm, that the young Flower Fairies want to dance with her. But Jessie can't dance, and that fact is beginning to worry her, as she's supposed to dance in her school play, in front of everyone. However, right now that's the least of her worries, for in the Fairy Realm, the pack of griffins who guard the Queen's treasure house are completely out of control, and destroying the Fairy Realm as she knows it. It's up to Jessie to try to save Fairy Realm before irreparable damage is done. But the worst has yet to come, for the young Flower Fairies have now followed Jessie out of the Realm and into her own world, and it's up to her to protect them from danger.
In this second installment in the FAIRY REALM series, Emily Rodda has brought back the heroic young Jessie, and placed her in a new situation and adventure that will have fans of the previous book in the series THE CHARM BRACELET, jumping for joy. THE FLOWER FAIRIES contains wonderful descriptions of the beautiful young flower fairies, and holds new magical dialogue that is an absolute pleasure to read. The black and white illustrations at the beginning of each chapter are also quite marvelous, and will add faces to each of the characters throughout the story. A must-have for anyone looking to read a delightful fantasy.

Book Description
A fascinating stand-alone novel by the New York Times bestselling author of the Otherland series
Theo Vilmos' life is about to take a real turn for the worse.
He is drawn from his home in Northern California into the parallel world of Faerie, for, unknown to him, he is a pivotal figure in a war between certain of Faerie's powerful lords and the rest of the strange creatures who live in this exotic realm.

This was a fascinating fantasy novel and a different take on the fairy world. My one complaint is that it is a little drawn out. I think it could have easily been 200 pages less.

Well, I just got finished reading this book this week and I really enjoyed it. It was well written, epic, and kept me going from page to page. This is the first book from Tad Williams that I have read and I plan on exploring some of his other works now. Great book.
Very disapointed.......2007-06-02
What is with writing characters that are so annoying and obnoxious? I had very hard time finsihing this book. It was by no means the worst book I've read and Tad is a clever writer but I found myself disliking the lead and his little fairy companion and it made it hard for me to give a damn.
Admittedly it got better near the end but the first half of the book was so damn hard to read..why can't writers make a character likeable, I understand the whole anti-hero thing but I just do not find it appealing!
Faeries up the wazoo!.......2007-05-31
I have only read one other body of work by Tad Williams, the 'Otherland' series which I really enjoyed. This "stand alone" fantasy looked like the perfect time investment for me since I am not a huge fan of seemingly endless storylines.
Unfortuneately, 'War of the Flowers' did not impress me. My biggest problem was the juxtiposition of the Faerie World with a modern Urban setting. Though there were many entertaining "oddball" characters' running around ((extracted from assorted legends and folklore (mostly Celtic/Irish)), the author never fully develops any of them.
The character of Theo comes across as a 30yr old schmoe. The "evil" adversaries pop in and out of the story ever so slightly, just enough to spur Theo to keep running and hiding.
The reader paces through the story when in the Faerie World like Luke Skywalker in the Alien Bar scene from Star Wars.
It just came across as a silly contrivance rather than magical or mysterious. I don't know where some readers found the storyline "dark" or where the chilling moments came from. There is virtually no sense of menace anywhere. It just seemed like one big soup of every cliche found in the Fantasy genre. I get more of a sense of "menace" walking through Disneyland wondering what sort of human REALLY lives behind the mask and walks around in a costume pretending to enjoy it. Now THAT's scary!
Really though, it's not a bad story per se. It's very user friendly for newbees in Fantasy, or I suppose the Tad Williams' fanbase. I found it very "PC"...a veritable Peon to Diversity. And if you are keen on the question of wether sprites have bathrooms in Faerie Land (?)...then Applecore is your babe (I found her obnoxious as all get out).
And what's with the 4 letter expletive begining with "S"_ _ t? Does an "e" following it make it less a curse word? I've got nothing against curse words mind you (I'm the Devil's own)...but the word appears ALOT in this 800+ page tome (I'll venture to say over 300 times with and without the "e"). It does nothing to advance any of the characters' or story.
This strange mesh of Modern/Faerie is much better handled by the likes of Neil Gaimon's 'Neverwhere' or Robert Holdstock's 'Mythago Wood'...to name but a few.
I have'nt given up on Tad Williams by any stretch, I will read his 'Memory, Sorrow and Thorn' opus in the future.
Excellent read..........2007-05-24
This is a great read, Williams establishes yet again that he belongs very near the top of the list of best active SciFi/Fantasy authors.
One caveat regarding Flowers- contrary to an earlier reviewer, I think this book is more suited to older readers. It's a slow to develop story full of imagery and character deveopment especailly early on. Young readers are apt to have difficulty with the lack of 'action' and slow pacing.
I'll skip the synopsis since there are a number of good ones already.
Plot: Plot wise I think that Williams has taken a fairly common Fantasy theme (Joe Normal getting pulled into the authors fantasy realm) and given it some twists that I've not observed in this type of story before. The modernization of the classical Faerie realm, the 'copying' of mundane technology, the use of an anti-hero (Mr. Everyman). He also did a wonderful job of keeping the protagonist from becoming an uber-hero as the plot progressed... which must be very tempting. The plot itself may be a bit of social commentary, which I normally hate... but the story is good enough that even if Williams is a closet Socialist I'm willing to forgive him.
Characters: Nothing earth shattering here, the protagonist is a struggling 'dude' approaching middle age with no real direction in his life. He's got a couple of sidekicks that provide comic relief, emotional focus, the usual. There are some bad guys who conform pretty well to the bad guy image, more from a modern anti-development point of view as opposed to a traditional fantasy evil bad guy perspective (but there's one of those too. There was overall a good mix of characters representing more of 'real life' as opposed to the traditional epic fantasy polarized (good/evil) mix.
Setting: Cool setting, Tad did his homework to pull in a lot of historical Faerie data and mixed it up with a whole ton of imagination to create a "modern" faerie realm. It reminded me a lot of the setting for a pnp game "Shadowrun", but I've not seen anything quite like it in a novel.
It's nice to read a complete Tad Williams story in such a compact package... and not have to wait patiently for the next book to continue the story.

Fairy Tales Paper Dolls.......2007-07-12
Remembering how much - and how many hours - of fun my sister and I had playing with paper dolls, I wanted to find some for my 3 granddaughters. I love these little fairies and came accross the sticker books to go with them. Hours and Hours of fun and imagination!
Flower Paper Dolls.......2007-02-08
I really enjoyed this paper doll book. I even cut out the little sample pictures on the first page and made them into smaller paper dolls. While the colors are the muted colors of nature, I found each one beautiful. For those of you who want more bling, just add some glitter glue. I liked that each costume had a front and a back.
well made but not very pretty.......2006-08-29
the dolls are made from very good paper, very sturdy. And I have to say I like the design of the clothes whereas they have a front and back that fold over the dolls. The dolls themselves are very pretty.
The details are very nice but the dresses are just not very pretty. My girls and I expected fairy tales dress but got a little too woodsy ones. the colors are really quite dull- a lot of browns and greens. Pretty pastels or bright colors like flowers would have been better. The best thing we can do is mabey make our own dresses.
Sorry, can not recommend this to anyone. I would not have wasted my money it if I had seen it in a store first.
Beautiful!!.......2006-04-01
My daughter received this as a gift for her 4th birthday, she loves dressing the paper doll fairies and they are stunningly beautiful. The outfits are also gorgeous with lots of detail and there is a pocket in the back of the book to hold all the outfits in. This is the ideal gift for when a classmate has a birthday party, it is unique, inexpensive and encourages imaginative play.
These paper dolls are not princesses, they are woodland fairies. They are unique and beautiful, not the same old gawdy princess-vapor stuff you see at Walmart and the like.
Beautiful and Fun.......2005-11-16
My 8 year old daughter loves these paper dolls. They are of high quality and the illustration style is just beautiful. We have a lot of Cicely Mary Barker stuff and these are true to the beauty of the original books. I would recommend them for any little girl (or boy! There are boy fairies in here too) who loves fairies.

More than just Stickers.......2007-08-04
This is a great little "keep busy" book for kids. I'm looking after my own and my sister's children at present, four all together ages 2-6, and even the two boys have enjoyed this. The games, activities, and stickers have allowed them to both use their imaginations and create beautiful gifts and decoratives. We have made birthday and get-well cards, posters, refrigerator art, and we have written letters to, and received letters from, the fairies. As usual, Barker's art is perfect for its beauty and appeal to children and adults alike. Great use of her art to help kids imagine and create.
Faries Sticker Book.......2007-07-12
Love this little book for my grandaughters (1 each for all 3!). I like it because it does not have a modern jazzy type art layout. It's beautiful and lets them use their imagination.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointing.......2007-05-16
From the information about the book, I thought it was a complete book of Barker's fairies. It is NOT, and the images I wanted the most were NOT included. The book itself is printed with a sort of "fake elegance," including a padded cover and gold edges on the paper. I would rather had had a conventional binding.
flower fairies.......2007-05-12
gave this to my granddaughter, age 6. Her mom is a folklorist and they love fairies and floers so this was the perfect book for them to share. They love it!
Deluxe Book of Flower Fairies.......2007-01-11
This is one of the most beautifully illustrated book I have ever owned. I use it to paint watercolor pictures and since purchasing it 2 other of my friends have also purchased it from you.
I didn't want to put it down..........2005-10-20
My sister-in-law has this book for her granddaughter, and when she showed it to me, I didn't want to put it down! Not only is the cover a luxurious padded work of art in itself, it has gilt edges in silver. There is much to be seen inside the book as well, with an opening story of Cicely and how she came to create her imaginitive works (the reader can even see pictures of the children she used as models for her flower fairies!). I think this book makes a delightful addition to any collection, for children and children-at-heart alike. After all, as I write, I am getting ready to order a copy for my two month old daughter (here on Amazon.com)! Enjoy!
Beautiful book, but know what it is before you buy it...........2005-04-22
The book is lovely, but it wasn't what I was hoping for. I thought it might be a collection of Cicely Mary Barker's Flower Fairy stories, but instead it's poetry and botanical information, along with gorgeous illustrations. Not sure my 5-year-old, for whom I intended this as a gift, will like it nearly as much as she would have liked stories.

I am 7 years old i like the book i like the fairy stickers.

Being an artist myself, I found this books extraordinary. I really love them. My only concern is that stickers tend to curl up out of the pages, and sometimes you can lost one of them.
