Great book.......2007-08-23
Everything you need to prepare for the Exchange 2007 test. In depth information and a great reference book for "in the field" work.
A Great resource.......2007-05-14
Assisted in my upgrade from Exchange 2003 tremendously. A Great resource amd very complete. Only one glitch (installing Exchange Management console in step 3 of upgrade should be installing Microsoft powershell.)
Extremely Helpful!.......2007-04-07
We spent the past 4 weeks planning our migration from Exchange 2000 and 2003 to Exchange 2007 using this book, and complted the migration last weekend with complete success! (14 backend servers, 1.8 terabytes of mail). The planning and sizing information was very helpful, the step by step guidance walked us through the process, and we're now down to 4 clustered servers with Hub Transport policies managing our incoming and outgoing mail. We also found the tips and best practices to be very helpful, unlike the Microsoft installation whitepapers that walk you through the procedures, this book actually explained what not to do as often as it said what to do which is EXTREMELY helpful when you are trying to decide which option to select compared to another.
I highly recommend this book to anyone planning to migrate their organization to Exchange 2007, the information in this book definitely helped us have a successful migration!
Not bad but not very good either.......2007-03-16
I ordered this book due to the fact that it was the first released book for Exchange 2007 on Amazon but apparently there was a reason. Live a earlier reviewer said there are a lot of errors in this book and it makes you wary if you can trust the things that are being said as fact when some of it doesn't sound exactly right.
Mainly this book is huge! going well over 1000 pages but so much of the book is just the same thing repeated over and over again. Also I don't understand the need to go into some many other topics in this book. This book covers so many other Microsoft products like AD, DNS, security WSUS, MOM, even how to install Windows server 2003! With so many thing going on in this book it's hard to find the real meat on what you bought the book for... Exchange 2007.
I would say this book is a good reference guide and will be able to help you with your migrations but look for something else to pass exam 70-236 or to get a better grasp into the inner workings of Exchange 2007.
Good & Bad.......2007-02-24
I agree with Mitchell there are some errors in the text..but there are a lot of features i had no idea were available in Exchange like Safelist Aggregation until i read this book. Overall it's still a good investment when learning the new Exchange Server.

Customer Reviews:
OK, but not helpful for me.......2007-09-13
I bought this book because the table of contents looked good and it had so many 5-star reviews. However, after reading it cover-to-cover I did not find it very helpful for my particular situation. I lost both my parents when a drunk boater hit them (they were in knee deep water and he came ashore at full speed). While this book acknowledges the extra feelings that come from sudden loss, it does not address the complex images left after a violent homicide, and dealing with the drawn-out legal process.
Also, none of the self-help suggestions were appealing or really plausable for me ... I stay home with 3 kids age 3 and under, and I can't go out and shout in a forest or get into aromatherapy.
Survival! That is what grief is all about!.......2007-06-21
After I lost my son in a tragic accident, this book reinstilled my hope and helped me cope with my heart wrenching grief over a parent's worst nightmare - that of losing a child.
GIFT.......2007-06-01
Sent this as a gift to someone who experienced sudden and unexpected loss of loved one. Apparently it was a comfort and very much appreciated. It was my way of speaking words I didn't have. Good book for it's purpose!
How to handle grief when it first happens.......2007-05-13
This book helps you understand what you or a loved one is going through during those first weeks of grief. It was enormously helpful as we suffered through strange physical symptoms and thoughts. We were not crazy. We were grief-stricken. Enormously helpful reference book, without getting into too personal stories at this time of shock.
Help for those who are grieving.......2007-05-07
I bought this book 3 years ago when my mom died suddenly. It was such a big help to me to get through the stages of grief. It explained everything that I was feeling and going through at the time. It was a tremendous comfort to me and had a big healing effect. I have since bought it for a few a my friends who have lost their parents, and they have in turn bought it for others.
Book Description
More than any other textbook, Moore and Parker's Critical Thinking has defined the structure and content of the critical thinking course at colleges and universities across the country--and has done so with a witty writing style that students enjoy. Now in full-color, the eighth edition brings the concepts of critical thinking to life in vivid detail, with current examples relevant to today's students.
Customer Reviews:
Very well written.......2007-09-05
Very well written and easy to understand. The author doesn't go over your head with abstract concepts for his peers. It is very broken down and helpful.
Good Quality.......2007-02-17
The book I ordered was in great condition when I got it. The shipping was a little slow. I ordered two other books from independent bok sellers that can be found on amazon on the same day and recieved those orders about a week earlier. But, the book did come within amazons estimation so I really can't complain.
The First and the Best: Funny, Sharp, Exceptional.......2007-01-25
I have taught critical thinking and argument for fourteen years, and Moore and Parker's Critical Thinking is the best in its field, bar none. That is why it is in its eighth edition. You'll see imitations, but this is the original--the one that started it all and brought critical thinking out of philosophy classrooms and to the masses of non-philosophy college students.
Don't get me wrong, Parker and Moore do not water down or pander to the at-large reader, but rather use intelligence, media issues, and humor to teach "heavy" concepts in a most palatable and efficient way. When students start using the language of a discipline easily and naturally, and they understand its concepts, the writers have done their work. Parker and Moore make getting there insightful and fun.
A Good Introduction.......2006-03-19
This book combines readability with good content, being one of the most often selected introductions to logic and critical thinking on the university level, it obviously holds a great deal of merit.

Intelectually and spiritually stimulating .......2007-09-18
Noel Jones gives Biblical foundation, an understanding of historical culture, and the straight forward explanation of the Christian need to use the gift that Jesus left us, the Holy Spirit, to commune and rejoice in this life.
Excellent.......2007-08-10
Excellent condition....Noel Jones is the preacher of preachers. His writing is as good has his preaching.I could hardly contain myself!!!
Mind Boggled.......2007-05-21
I have come to know the teaching and writings of Noel Jones as being very good, however, this book was rather disappointing as far as the understanding of it's content. The platform of this book is more suited for a student in an Thelogy class. I would not suggest this book to someone who is in direing need of immediate help. There was not enought of the down to earth support and direction for the average christian, (which is most of us.) You would actually need an dictionary and commentary to understand much of what was said. This book actually would leave a person more frustrated and confused. Unless you plan on getting deep in your study, this would not be the book for you.
A book for those who seek truth.......2007-05-19
It is a good book, not for the person who is does not have a true desire to be changed. It would be just hogwash to them. They wouldn't grasp it as truth.
Take control of your thoughts.......2007-05-13
This is an excellent book, which outlines the importance of keeping a strong check on thoughts by constantly being connected to God.

Poor Instructional Material... If You Are An Instructor, DO NOT UseThis Book In Your Classes.......2006-08-28
This book is next to useless in helping students to understand fallacies and identify them. It is probably the poorest instructional material I have encountered in all of my years in college. Humor was incorporated into this text in an effort to help students better understand the material, however, that effort is a big failure when it comes to this student, and probably also for many others.
Instead of helping, the humor detracts from the instructional value of the material and distracts the student rather than helping him or her to comprehend. Chapters 4, 5 and 6 deal with rhetoric and fallacies, however, I have found those three chapters to be the most incomprehensible and unhelpful chapters in the entire book. I am glad I got a used copy of this book... it is certainly NOT worth the price tag placed on a new copy.
Critically Thinking, Critically Funny, Critically Astute!!.......2006-03-24
What an awesome textbook! As a critical reasoning, reading, and writing instructor for twelve years, I have used this textbook, off and on, and I always return to it. There is no other textbook like it, but there are a lot of imitators. It infuses humor, pertinent political events, and very clear critical thinking concepts (like claims, fallacies, credibility, etc.)and presents those ideas in ways that make it a pleasure to read and learn from this book.
Rhetorical tricks exposed.......2006-03-24
This is a college textbook that I purchased because I was searching for a book that would review all the rhetorical tricks being used by politicians and special interest groups. For the past six years I've been simultaneously impressed and distressed with the increased sophistication being used to dodge discussing core issues and deceiving people. I believed I needed to further develop my awareness of when someone was using a rhetorical trick to avoid an issue or deceive the public, including myself. Once again excellent reader reviews helped me navigate to and choose this book and I was not disappointed! This book confronted many of the tricks being used by those in the media and using the media to get their message across while avoiding the truth.
First off, this book mostly focuses on only one aspect critical thinkers require, and that is identifying and rejecting rhetorical arguments. This book does not have any chapters that would help business people to filter out extraneous information and focus on critical factors even though in fast moving industries, this is a critical skill coming under the umbrella necessary to be labeled a critical thinker in the business world. A better title for this book would have been "Rhetorical Fallacies".
So don't buy this book to help you hone your skill in deciding what issues to focus on at work and how to drill-down to essential issues necessary to make good decisions. I highly recommend this book if you are looking to minimize the ability of ever-increasingly sophisticated rhetoric to mislead you. I also now enjoy the fact that I can name most of the rhetorical tricks being used in an attempt to deceive us. This book is a fast read, with many examples that help clarify the principles; many of these examples are humorous. I'll definitely keep this book as a reference to name the ploy being attempted.
Because the book is a textbook, the new price is ridiculous. I bought this used through Amazon and had an excellent experience; easily getting a barely marked-up book from a student at a very fair price - ya gotta love Amazon!
Wonderful senses of humor!.......2005-08-21
Like Andrew Hallock, it did not escape my notice that all the political references were Republicans or conservatives, and I've grown weary of that bent in academia and would have preferred a more balanced look at politics.
Nonetheless, this book was hugely enjoyable for me. While I bought it for a class, I would have read it just for a fun. But then, I'm kind of stickler for critical thinking anyway. Fellow students hated the class and had a hard time with it.
IMO, critical thinking skills are woefully lacking in today's world and if I were king, this book would be required reading for everyone.
training critical minds.......2003-10-26
Much of what we read, hear and see in today's media reflects the assumption that, since everyone is entitled to express their opinion, all opinions are equally ready for prime time. This book grants the first premise but challenges us to consider whether all opinions are actually created equal. I strongly recommend this text for students, teachers and even talk show hosts who'd like to sharpen their opinion-expressing skills and to understand why they might need some tuning up.
For the most part, the philospher/authors use conversational but not patronizing (and frequently witty) language, sharp examples of effective as well as falacious reasoning drawn from contemporary debates and rants, and provide exercises useful for classroom and self-study.
It doesn't matter where you stand on the ideological spectrum-- radial anarchist,neo-facist racist or any point between, frequent use of this book will help you to persuade others of your beliefs or convince you to re-examine yours.
That's what Critical Thinking (and critical thinking) does.
Product Description
The material avoids neither the hard questions nor the conceptual difficulties, leaving students with a firm understanding of partnership taxation. Each chapter begins with a basic explanation of the relevant provisions, and the roles that they play in the overall structure of Subchapter K. Includes an increasingly detailed discussion of the specific rules, including multiple illustrative examples. Each chapter builds on the earlier chapters, leading the student through Subchapter K's seamless web. For J.D. or graduate-level law school courses on partnership taxation.

Tax Manager.......2007-05-14
An absolute must for any tax professional working with partnerships. Like the title indicates, it is very logical and gives an overview of the complex details before diving into the details.
Excellent Book For A Difficult Subject.......2007-04-19
This is an excellent, excellent book! I am law school student struggling my way through partnership tax (with no desire to practice tax law). I have purchased everything under the sun that I thought might give me a better understanding of the subject. This is the first book that I have come accross that really helped. It gives you the "why?" behind the mechanics. I cannot imagine why my professor recommended the Nutshell book as opposed to this book. I cannot recommend it enough!
UPDATE - I got an A in the class and I am positive it was due to this book.
Great Work Tool!.......2007-03-24
I work for the Department of Treasury for one of their tax audting departments. :) This book was helpful in my lLow Thru training and working my cases. The issues are easy to understand and there are great examples! A great tool to have with you when reviewing a flow thru tax case!
Partnership Tax in plain English.......2007-01-10
I took a PS Tax law class and we were assigned a rather lengthy treatise as our textbook, but after a few weeks, it was clear that the treatise would not be helpful for someone taking a first tax course. The Logic of Subchapter K, however, covered almost every major topic the class addressed and did so in 5 to 10 pages of well-written material. I would have been in trouble without this book!
LOGIC OF SUBCHAPTER K --- THE BEST.......2006-11-10
This text is the best out there. Makes a vey difficult part ot the Internal Revenue Code understandable
Book Description
A detailed look into best practice design, deployment, and maintenance of an ISA Server 2004 Environment. Written by industry expert Michael Noel, of Convergent Computing, ISA Server 2004 Unleashed provides guidance for ISA deployment scenarios, including step by step guides for configuring ISA to secure Exchange Outlook Web Access, deploying ISA Server 2004 Enterprise edition arrays, setting up Site to Site VPNs, deploying ISA as a reverse proxy in the DMZ of a firewall, and much more. This book covers ISA in great detail, with emphasis on real-world situations and labor-saving scripts that help administrators take control of an ISA environment and leverage its full potential to provide unprecedented levels of security to an environment.

Well Leashed and Very Useful Installation Guide.......2006-05-29
The book is poorly named. "Unleashed" suggests to me wild and wonderful things to do with complex features or even tricks and undocumented things. This is definitely a black Labrador on-the-leash kind of book, and it will get an administrator safely across the broad avenue that is an ISA installation. It's a great book in spite of the name.
I used "Unleashed" as a guide for installation of ISA Server 2004 (replacing ISA Server 2000) on the perimeter of a small office network that has ten servers on three different domains (including a web server and a mail server) and twenty workstations. I studied this book and Shinder's "Configuring ISA Server 2004" extensively before beginning the installation, and I had previous experience doing the installation and maintenance of the ISA 2000 installation that ISA 2004 replaced.
I preferred this book ("Unleashed") to the Shinder book as an installation guide, but I like Shinder as a reference because of its greater depth (twice as many pages). Both books promote ISA, but the Shinder books examines (in a defensive but very useful way) competing options to ISA more thoroughly. Shinder's book then would be more useful for those evaluating ISA versus competing products.
I also have the Microsoft MCSA/MCSE Training Kit. This book is the only ISA 2004 book that includes a 120-day trial version of ISA Server 2004. I have spent only two hours with this book but found the questions and answers at the end of each lesson helpful reflecting on key points. I did find a glaring error early on. It is not true that "the IP address assigned to the external interface [of the ISA server] must be routable ON [emphasis added] the Internet." The truth is that this IP address must be routable TO the Internet; and a private address (10.1.1.1 for example) will do just fine if there is (as in my case) a router with a public address between ISA and the Internet. Microsoft books are of coure authoratative and prep well for the exams in spite of an occasional error.
Our ISA server is connected on the Internet side with a private (nonroutable) IP address to an $89 Linksys router, which is configured with simple firewall filters. The Linksys router has a public IP address and connects to a Verizon DSL modem. A laptop in the DMZ between ISA and the router is used for testing ISA protection. The ISA server of course could be connected directly to the DSL modem; but we like the presence of the additional appliance (the Linksys router) as an additional level of defense. We run GFI (number one Exchange spam filter) on our Exchange server since ISA and most other firewall products only do token spam filtering.
"Unleashed" provided sufficiently detailed and accurate guidance for each step that I took: hardening the OS, installing ISA, configuring the networks attached to the ISA NICs, setting up firewall rules, publishing an IIS web server, publishing an Exchange mail server, and setting up Outlook web access. The total time required was only two hours even with a couple of errors.
ISA is a complex product with routing, caching proxy and reverse proxy servers, firewall (including stateful and advance application level inspection), VPN server, and simple spam filter. Michael Noel in "Unleashed" clearly shows how to use the greatly improved ISA administrative interface with its templates and wizards to configure my simple architecture and also more complex architectures that place servers in the DMZ as well as the limited single-homed topology with the ISA server in the DMZ. My company is not using VPN, but the book provides thorough coverage of VPN, which many be mission-critical to those with branch offices and road warriors.
Lastly, if you are new to ISA, be aware that ISA 2006 was released as a beta earlier this year. Many reviews suggest that ISA 2006 is not a major change. Microsoft says that upgrading from 2004 to 2006 will be supported. Amazon shows no titles as yet for ISA 2006. My guess is that the final release of 2006 will not come before the end of the year.
Awesome Book.......2006-02-20
This is by far the best ISA Server book on the market.
Worth every penny I paid for it.
Great book on a rising product!.......2005-11-28
This is THE book if you are looking to learn ISA 2004. It is structured in an easy-to-understand manner for windows admins who are familiar with Windows but may not have been exposed to ISA Server or are upgrading from ISA 2000. All in all this is the only book on the subject you'll need.
Practical volume for assessing, designing and implementing ISA.......2005-11-13
I found this book to be extremely helpful in understanding ISA architecture and how it might fit into our organization.
The book is well laid out, concise and readable. The first section lays out a high level view of ISA functions and provides a clear overview of how to assess which components are appropriate for solving specific network security issues. The section on deployment goes into more detail, explaining how to install and configure the various components of an ISA deployment. Part III on securing servers and services goes into the specific details of configuring ISA to protect messaging, web and RPC traffic.
Microsoft networking products continue to improve both in functionality and ease of use. Having guides like this make understanding and implementing new technology viable even for small organizations with limited budgets.

Book Description
Noel Smith presents a comprehensive and engaging text that strives to tell students "what today's systems of psychology are saying." He offers in-depth coverage of more recent systems of psychology, beyond the traditional classical systems of psychology. Smith focuses on the core areas of psychological systems that have impact today, such as the cognitive system, the humanistic system, the psychoanalytic systems, the behavioral system, the ecological perspective, and the phenomenological approach. His thorough coverage of the contemporary, post 1950's systems of psychology-including post modernism and social constructionism, dialectical psychology, interbehavioral field psychology, operant subjectivity, and community psychology, to name a few-offers a modern view of the current systems of psychology to today's psychology students.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent for U-grads AND Graduate students.......2001-06-07
Noel Smith does an excellent job in catagorizing the various dsciplines of psychology into various centricities. The text begins with a fairly comprehensive historical overview of how psychology has become so disjointed in modern times. Each system is then discussed, with summaries at the end of each chapter, as well as a critiqued and strengths section. The summary chapter at the end of the text really help the reader pull together each of the 10 systems highlighted throughout the text. For the brave of heart, Prof. Smith includes an appendix that lists postulates, protopostulates, and metapostulates of each of the systems. This appendix provides much fodder for discussion to those aligned and loyal to a particular theory. I recommend this text to any serious student of the profession.

Very limited.......2007-10-10
The book is very simple and does not bring much information on share point. Maybe it is just outdated.
I read it maybe a year ago and back then I didn't like the book.
You can read it in an hour, if that helps.
Quick Overview for Professionals & Nice Reference for End Users .......2007-07-20
What the heck is Sharepoint? We bought this book to help us find out. I've liked many of the SAMS 24-hour and 21-day books, but this is the first 10-minute SAMS that I enjoyed. This book has a 2005 copyright and addresses Sharepoint 2003, the release prceding the current Sharepoint 2007. Since the book is an introduction, it serves well even if you envision a Sharepoint 2007 environment.
As we reengineered our IT resources at our small technology company to run on Microsoft Small Business Server, we almost discarded the built-in Sharepoint-based CompanyWeb intranet. Just in time, we (I and one other experienced administrator/developer) took a closer look by rapidly exploring CompanyWeb using the twenty-five, ten-minute lessons in this book. Wow, we realized we could do so much with Sharepoint to improve our intranet. We quickly invested in four thicker Sharepoint books, but this is the book we will give to end users who are looking for something beyond read-only access to the documents and lists.
We learned that Sharepoint quite simply is a Microsoft server technology with an impressive set of tools for creating, viewing, and editing intranets. (Call them "portals" if they are comprehensive and well designed.) Sharepoint works just fine too for public web sites but so far has been promoted by Microsoft largely as a way to share Office 2003 and Office 2007 documents.
Use of Sharepoint encourages and almost ensures best practices for not just sharing but also collaborating on documents, lists (including contacts), discussions, surveys, links, and many more intranet elements. A wide variety of templates are available from Microsoft and others. Each of these intranet elements is a Sharepoint Web Part. Web Parts are enhanced ASP.Net pages with integrated assemblies of controls. The assemblies have properties and methods that permit easy runtime modification of content, format, and views by end users - in almost the same manner as end users can edit, format, and view Word or Excel documents. Most Sharepoint documents and other items can be automatically maintained in SQL Server databases (with version control and checkout if you need them) so you can say goodbye to huge assortments of poorly organized folders that are typically found in intranets, and this improvement in content management greatly eases an intranet administrator's burden.
Of course developers can build their own web parts using the sophistication of Visual Studio and all the power of the .NET Framework.
SAMS SharePoint 2003.......2007-05-13
Simple, straightforward and easy to follow.
An excellent step by step guide, and a good reference manual.

I found this book to be a godsend win I first started using SharePoint at work. It's small and easily tabbable. This book will get you off and running with SharePoint and how to use it. I recommend this book to all new personnel who come to my work. Great starter book.
The quick 10 min reference.......2007-01-10
This little book is big on reference. It will not give you the most comprehensive detail that a full tech manual would give you but, it is after all a 10 min. guide. The quick references and how-to's get you up and running on using Sharepoint 2003. It is an easy read for all that would deal with Sharepoint. The instructions are easy to follow and not written in a high techie vocabulary so it can even be used in training users in the use of sharepoint with office.
Book Description
<>SharePoint provides a cost-effective, easy-to-implement solution for organizations interested in enhancing team collaboration, document management, and search functionality and in providing a portal to access corporate resources and intranet/extranet environments. The SharePoint 2007 family (consisting of Windows SharePoint Service 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007) build upon these features and toolsets and introduce a staggering array of new tools and capabilities that undeniably make SharePoint 2007 an enterprise-class solution.
This new edition walks IT professionals, website designers, SharePoint administrators, and SharePoint power users through the design, implementation, and customization process. Exciting new capabilities such as workflow, records management, web content management, business processes, and business intelligence features are covered in depth. Best practices are provided for planning the architecture, scaling to meet the organization’s needs, migrating from SharePoint 2003, and managing the farm or multi-farm environment.
Part I: SharePoint 2007 Overview, Planning, and Implementation provides an introduction to SharePoint 2007 technologies and covers the architecture process. Details on installing SharePoint 2007 and processes for migrating from SharePoint 2003 are included.
Part II: Using SharePoint 2007 Technologies covers the core feature set of SharePoint 2007 that power users and administrators will need to master, including libraries, lists, designing and managing pages, workspaces, and sites.
Part III: Managing a SharePoint Environment provides best practices on managing and administering the SharePoint infrastructure, securing the environment, maintaining and managing the environment and databases, and backing up and restoring the SharePoint 2007 environment.
Part IV: Extending the SharePoint Environment goes into detail on the topics of configuring email-enabled content, Exchange Server integration, enabling presence information with Office Communication Server 2007, and securing remote access with ISA Server 2006. Customer Reviews:
Excellent format with easy to find content.......2007-10-12
Was a little hesistant to get another in the "unleashed" series since I have been burned before with a lot of content that is dry and not pertinent to my environment. On the contrary, this is one of the best books I have seen on the new MOSS 2007 enviroment. It is clearly written and organized so that I don't have to search to hard for what I need and I can ignore what I don't.
A book for MOSS administrator.......2007-10-09
So far I have read 5 books about SharePoint 2007. This is my fifth book in this subject. This book is different. This book is for IT system administrators and not for developers. However, as a consultant for SharePoint 2007 development, I find that this book reveals the administration considerations I usually ignore. Therefore, my review is based on the uniqueness of this book.
Pros:
1. This book is an excellent resource for system administrators. It covers most of SharePoint administration I can think of. In addition, the authors provide guide lines for SharePoint migration, the integration of SharePoint 2007 / Exchange 2007 / ISA 2006 / Forefront, and farm planning. These are the gems of this book. You can not afford to skip the chapters about application of Exchange/ISA/Forefront in Internet SharePoint 2007 environment.
Cons:
1. Tables and Figures are printed in small fonts. I would prefer a bigger font size.
2. This book is around 800 pages, and is written for system administrators. If you are a developer, you might be disappointed because there are only a few lines of code.
3. The authors discuss the SharePoint infra-structure including Exchange/ISA/Forefront. However, the lab environment is not designed that way. So the readers who want to do exercise might be disappointed.
My personal recommendation: If you are MOSS and WSS administrator, you must have this book. If you are a versatile consultant, this book should be a good reference on your book shelf. If you are a pure hand-on developer and new to SharePoint, you might opt to choose code-intensive books such as Inside SharePoint Service 3.0 by Ted Pattison.
I rate the book four stars.
Best Sharepoint book I own...and I own 5 of them!.......2007-09-19
I bought this book as it is a complete overview of every aspect of a Sharepoint 2007 implementation than any other book I have. It covers best practices for everything from what kind of site template to use to what are the best security methods for your SQL database. Very thorough and the best book on Sharepoint 2007 out there. It is in depth enough to get the job done but not so deep that there isn't room for the entire project plan of a Sharepoint implementation.
If you are like me and the ONLY resource in your company for installing, implementing, administering and rolling out Sharepoint, this is the book for you.
Excellent overall coverage of MOSS.......2007-06-27
Are you looking for one book that gives you an overall view of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and its possibilities? Michael Noel and Colin Spence have managed to include ideas that were not possible in the earliest MOSS books. The first books relied heavily on beta-versions and some things were not available for the first books.
In addition to covering administration and basic customization of MOSS, SharePoint 2007 Unleashed contains very good sections on planning and installing MOSS. It also covers how to use Office applications with SharePoint. I especially enjoyed the chapters about Exchange 2007 and Office Communications Server. Both being relatively new, information in a concentrated form is hard to come by and this book gives a good overview on what to consider. It helped us alot!
Each chapter ends with a Best Practices section that provides some very good information.
If you need one book that gives you good, concise information about SharePoint Server 2007; I recommend this book!
Good book for admins.......2007-06-23
SharePoint 2007 Unleashed is a great reference for SharePoint administrators. I found it to have a great balance of high level planning information as well as detailed information that can be used as a reference once you've got SharePoint installed. What I liked best about this book was the breadth of subjects it covered. Noel and Spence aren't just experts on SharePoint, but other disciples. And it shows. This book covers not only how to get the most out of SharePoint, but how to use SharePoint with Exchange, MOM, ISA, OCS, the Office clients and more. The icing on the cake is the backup and recovery chapter. It includes a great script that can be used in small installations to use STSADM to back up all the Site Colletions in the farm. Very nice.
As a SharePoint administrator and SharePoint MVP I highly recommend this book.
