The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Stawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear.......2007-10-11
This has been a favorite in our family. My three children loved it and quickly learned to read this. Making them feel so proud to sit and read it by themselves. I taught school and made sure that the children had this as one of thier stories. All of the children loved reading it. I now have bought a book for each of my grandchildren. My daughter was so excited that it was sticking out of her daughter's 1st. Birthday gift bag. It is a must have in our family and I am sure would be in yours.
Great book for young kids.......2007-09-22
No household with young children should be without this book. Great read and fun for all. We conisder it a classic.
A DELIGHTFUL BOOK WITH FEW WORDS........2007-09-20
As has been pointed out, there are few words to the text of this work, but to be honest, it really does not need them. the art work, the pictures, are absolutely some of the best I have seen, and pretty well tell the story visually. The text just acts as a sort of prompter. A small mouse has a very big strawberry and is quite fearful that a very big and hungry bear will eat this wonderful, perfect berry. He goes through all sorts of manipulations to hide the berry from the bear. The story is delightful, the color eye catching and it is a blast to read it with a young child. This is a very talented artist and author who have turned out quite a number of books. Personally, this is one of my favorite, but then I like mice, bears and certainly strawberries. I also love reading books to children and they all love it. This is one you will want to purchase for your children. Highly recommend.
The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry,And The Big Hungery Bear.......2007-08-23
We loved the story and the illustrations. We had it for years and read it to our grandchildren, who enjoyed it very much.
Perfect for ages two to six.
We ordered it for my sisters grandchildren{our grandneice and grandnephew} We want them to experience the story also.
Pleasantly surpised.......2007-08-13
The artwork and story in this book are woven together brilliantly. My two-year-old daughter loved it. So did her six-year-old cousin. Highly recommend it. Very cute. Sort of teaches sharing as well.
Book Description
This chainsaw carving primer illustrates the demanding control and precision needed for this unlikely art form. Three projects include instructions for carving a cub in a stump, a caricature bear, and a bear on all fours. Techniques such as cutting straight, creating textures, shaping, sanding, burning for detail, and painting are covered, and special attention is given to how to safely operate a chainsaw, what clothing to wear while working, and how to set up a safe workshop.

Book Description
The first extensively illustrated autobiography by one of the world's greatest golfers
Widely regarded as the greatest golfer in history, Jack Nicklaus won 73 PGA Tour victories in his illustrious career, a record 18 of them in major championships, including six Masters. His expert performances under pressure have earned him permanent residence in the pantheon of sports, and his sportsmanship and respect for the game make him the ideal model of a modern professional athlete.
In Jack Nicklaus, his first fully illustrated autobiography, the legendary golfer offers the story of his life, both professional and personal, in his own voice. From the thrill of winning his first U.S. Amateur title in 1959 to the heart-warming ovation after a birdie on his final hole at the 2005 British Open, Nicklaus walks us through his most significant career highlights. We also get to know the man behind the legend, as he describes growing up in Columbus, Ohio; the true origins of his nickname; and his renowned devotion to his family.
In addition to rare photographs from the Jack Nicklaus Museum, the book features ten pieces of memorabilia reproduced as removable facsimiles. With intimate stories and a treasure trove of visual material, this collection is the next best thing to playing a round with the Golden Bear himself.
Customer Reviews:
A Shrine for Jack.......2007-09-27
If you are at all interested in Jack Nicklaus and can't, by time or distance, visit his museum in Columbus, Ohio (on the campus of Ohio State University), then this book will be a nice visual replacement. Well organized, this book follows Jack's entire career as well as his relationships with his teacher, Jack Grout, his parents Charlie and Helen Nicklaus and his wife Barbara. Especially nice are several pages of reproduced "mementos" in cellophaned envelopes for easy retrival and review.
I would recommend this book highly to all golfers who have any admiration for the Golden Bear.
A "Must" for Those Who Admire The Golden Bear.......2007-05-01
It sounds "trite" and simple to say it, but this book is a "must" for those who love golf and admire the qualities Jack Nicklaus brought to the game, talent, work ethic, competitiveness, success, and class. The epitome of what the game is meant to be.
There are other, more indepth, books on Jack Nicklaus, but this one has it all, enough to appreciate the man, who is, what he stands for and his journey, a journey that has been a credit to the game of golf and has inspired many of us who have followed his career and the values and principles he has demonstrated so effectivly.
There are many replica mementos, a letter from Tiger Woods, copies of his scorecards, Masters invitations and such that give this book a nice touch, a nice feel. Overall it is a comprehensive keepsake album of Jack, his career and the game of golf in his day.
Simply put: "A must" for those who love golf and admire the Golden Bear.

An expert at designing and making the wind-powered toys known as whirligigs shows how to create more than two dozen traditional and original models. Patterns include animals with spinning wings, people with waving arms, and more. Easy-to-follow instructions, detailed illustrations.
Customer Reviews:
Tells you how to make them!.......2006-06-28
I haven't actually made a whirligig yet, but I plan on it. Since I read this book I really believe I can. What I wanted to know, it told me, mainly things you can use to make the mechanical components of a whirligig. I've done woodworking and that part I knew I could do but putting it all together was another matter. This book definitely helped me see how it can be done.
making animated whirligigs.......2005-08-31
its a good book on the subject will help start my ideas on the subject
..........2002-06-04
This is the best of Lunde's series. He is the man who resurrected the whirligig from the ashheap of historical American culture. In the 1970's, Lunde first investigated old whirligigs in New England, researched in the Library of Congress, and just plain hit the woodworking bench to figure out what makes a good whirligig work. Others have tried to copy him, but his whirligigs spin and turn and twist with a freedom and naturalness few can match. His political whirligig creations are snapped up immediately these days, because at 86 years old, there is no telling when he will stop. Simple, straightforward, and detailed, these designs and instructions will put you in the drivers seat for making any design you desire. He is a specialist in devising creative designs, not of the art crowd kind that look great but don't work, but the kind that really move in ways pleasing to all. He is the master of this genre.
Very good.......2000-11-23
I speak spanish, it is my native language, but this book is easy, I can understand it very good because it has many picture, in my country the Whirligigs are unknown and get hardware for them is very difficult, but thanks to the Anders' book I can build my own devices. This books is very good
Worth more than the price.......2000-04-21
I purchased this book because I was looking for some new whirligig plans. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was that and more. The author shows you some good plans, but also gives you enough information to come up with your own designs. If you enjoy making whirligigs and how they work, this book is a good buy

Classy designs; safety first........2001-03-17
I used this book to make a little dump truck, a jet plane, and a tugboat, soon to be given to my grandson. I did not find the fact that not all plans were full-sized a problem This is common and the %enlargement (if needed) is given The instructions were clear. (However, if you are making the little truck, check the width of 2" hinges available before gluing down the hinge block!) The designs are classic, and range from simple (the ones I made) to complex (the truck on the cover is said to take 40 hours.) There are a couple of educational toys included.
Many of the toys' parts are made out of fine woods, but you can substitute available wood in most cases. Makowicki is concerned with toy safety, e.g., the crane uses a magnet to lift barrels, not a hook, and he specifies child-safe finishes - references in appendix. He also gives many ideas for jigs for cutting angles on the table saw. (If you aren't going to produce for sale, in many cases you can use a band saw with a narrow blade or a scroll saw and sand smooth, instead of making the jig.)
I made the toys while taking a shop course, so I learned the safe way to operate power tools at the same time.
I also purchased Tarjany's "30 Toy Vehicles Made from Wood". It has cruder designs, but look there for semis, flatbeds, bulldozers, etc. (I made the long-hood semi with a gravel trailer.) His airplanes suffer by comparison with Makowicki's.
I am going to purchase Makowicki's "Marvelous Transforming Toys" next.
Great toys - not the best plans.......2000-03-29
The book provides scale drawings of several projects. But in order to use them you first have to photocopy the plans at the appropriate (and provided) zoom level. This was difficult, especially since the paper size needed to be larger than standard copier sizes. In order to save pages, it seemed as if many steps were eliminated from the cutting and assembly instructions.
I made the dump truck and airplane for my 2yr old nephew. They're his favorite toys and he plays with them all the time.

This was bought as a birthday gift for my son-in-law who wants to build whirligigs. He seems quite pleased with the instruction book.
Fabulous Book!.......2002-06-04

Great collection.......2003-06-14
Anyone not familiar with Lewis Grizzard ought to be in for a treat reading these books. I grew up reading Grizzard in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and I remember laughing out loud at the breakfast table so, so many times. Grizzard was a terrifically funny man, southern to the core and wrote basically about what he knew best- life in the south. Grizzard was more than just a funny guy, however, he was a real writer, a true talent. This collection makes me realize how much I miss him. You don't have to be southern to appreciate Grizzard, however, no more than you'd have to be from the Midwest to like Garrison Keillor. This is Grizzard at his best.
Solid Gold Grizzard.......2001-04-10
Lewis Grizzard is to southern humor what Elvis is to rock n roll, a legend that will live in our hearts forever. "Down Home Grizzard" is an excellent read as well as a beautiful memory to the late king of southern humor. The man is just plain funny.
Book Description
With this book, woodworkers can build any number of unique toys in six different categories: boats, trucks, houses, planes, vehicles, or ships. Each system uses easily made interchangeable components. An initial chapter discusses materials, tools, jigs for cutting small parts, and safety issues. The rest of the book contains scale drawings (with dimensions) and step-by-step instructions, with 200 color photos, and 330 B&W illustrations.
Customer Reviews:
Great book for mid-range woodworkers.......2001-12-13
The author has come up with a great set of toy sets: boats, trucks, planes, and houses. Each set has interchangable parts which kids can put together to create their own masterpieces.
Author assumes ownership of basic tools, drillpress, table saw, bandsaw, and in some cases a lathe comes in handy. I have all but the lathe and am having a lot of fun (and challenges) working my way through the sets. Note that not all of the above tools are required, but since he helps you create jigs to recreate your work, the advantage is to people who have them.
Some complex angles, tapers and cuts, but with patience all can be made either by hand or with standard hand tools (tough), or with stationary tools. Probably the drill press (or a good way to bore exact repeatable holes) is the most critical in getting great results.
