This book is a great book with lots of colourful pictures to help you on your way or to help you mix and match. Paper sizes for the cards would have been a helpful addition for some of the cards. But all in all, a good book.

I'm new to scrapbooking so got this book for ideas. There were few interesting ideas but...
1) Required too many tools and supplies that I didn't have (I already have several hundred $s worth of tool and supplies).
2) Too many steps! The design process seemed too complex. It seemed like it'd take me an hour just to get the first 5 steps done, let alone the remaing 15 steps.
3) The designs weren't to my taste. I thought lot of the designs seem to "folksy" or too busy looking. I prefer more clean and "modern" look.
Overall, I found the book to be more discouraging to a new scrapbooker like me than inspiring.
Not For Everyone.......2005-09-29
I like scrapbooking but am not interested in this book. I bought based on the descriptions and reviews. Very disappointed in that most of the pages, if not all, have something too thick on them. I like my pages to lay flat and not bulk up my albums. Cute ideas for framing or displays... but a lot of the best parts don't lay flat enough for me and my scrapbook albums. Lots of techniques are shown, but many are also too time-consuming or too involved or, as other said, require too many different materials/tools (thus cost too much) for me. I want cute and quick. Precious yet balanced with my time and effort.

This is a great book for scrapbooking. I have several scrapbooks, and this book is my favorite. The pages are so nicely done, and each page comes with directions, and a supply list of materials you will need to complete the project.

This book has a bit of basic information on tools and supplies and then has a section on each season showing different borders, corners and titles for each one. The ideas are unique and instructions are given with photos on how to complete each one. I think it is a worthwhile book.

I'm relatively new to scrapbooking and don't have a lot of time to devote to it, so I look for books like this one to help me get ideas and learn new things. I found this particular one to be full of pictures and instructions. It even includes ideas for alternate ways of applying certain techniques - which can help you be more creative on your own. The book is arranged by themes, offering several ideas for each topic. It covers a range of skill levels and refers to a lot of different tools - some of which I didn't know existed. The only reason I don't give a 5 is because some of the topics could use a little more instruction or assume you are using certain tools - which can be VERY expensive for someone who doesn't do this full time.
I recommend this book for anyone who wants to add polish to their pages and give them a more finished look. It worth the $$ for sure.

I cannot believe there are no other reviews out here for this marvelous book! Animal-lover scrapbookers will totally love this book. There have been a few prior, but this one is awesome.
I am always looking for ways to scrapbook my dogs and cats. Their photos are so much fun to work with and practice all my techniques. But I rarely if ever see pet pages in the magazines. This book is beautiful. The pet layouts are fantastic and give me lots of motivation to get cropping.

This is s cute book and has lots of good ideas for layouts. I wish it showed more specific ideas and how to do them. The layouts are really good, and great ideas, but I'd have liked more info on HOW to get the look.
All in all, I'd say it's a good book and worth the buy. I'm a scrapbooker and a book lover, and this is a good addition to my library.

I love this book. I have just about every scrapbook ideabook out there by Creating Keepsakes, Paper Crafts, & Memory Makers. This one is a major favorite of mine. It's broken into wonderfully unique sections new inspiration to "think out of the box" while designing my scrapbook layout. The layouts are great, and just the right complexity so some normal jane scrapbooker like me can do them and has the embellishments needed without fancy techniques.

I have been doing crafts for over two years, but have never done done any scrapbooking except to put photos in albums with littel or no embellishment. As I don't have any kids, I thought SCRAPBOOKING YOUR ADULT YEARS would be a good place to start. I was not disasppointed. SCRAPBOOKING YOUR ADULT YEARS contains chapters on all the major categories in adult life. Besides having general tips for "time-efficient scrapbooking," SCRAPBOOKING YOUR ADULT YEARS has the following chapters: This Is Me, Love Stories, Family Matters, You've Gotta Have Friends, Just for Fun, and More Than a Job. Although Family Matter does have layouts that include children in the photos, it is for the purpose of the scrapbooker looking back at their own childhod. There are a variety of layouts using a wide range of paper and embellishments suitable for pages featuring both men and women. I enjoyed the book so much I have sticky notes on practically every page marking the ones that inspired me! I have since checked out from the library another of the author's books that is also excellent called SCRAPBOoK PAGE DESIGN. It has the most information I've found on general design tips with also detailed descriptions of examples. I would suggest both these books to anyone interested in scrapbooking.

I'm creating a Heritage album and found this book very useful for ideas; however, many of the submitted pages (from scrap-bookers)that they showed suffer from a lack of journaling and/or clarity, so it is hard to tell the stages of the family trees. I wish MM had critiqued some of the family trees to show how they could be improved so that future generations... and even the creator in a few decades!... could easily determine the line of descedants.

I recently bought this book and was surprised at the pages included. Overall, it has several very different layouts and some neat ideas for special topic pages (champagne bridal shower, leaving limo cutout). But, the pages were all sent in by "real people," so they do not at all have the polished look of the "memory masters" who usually compile Memory Makers books. I would say the level is intermediate, with a huge lack of advanced techniques. Antiquing, dry embossing, embossing with powders and a heat tool, embellishments, tags, vellum, use of computers, paint, and fabrics are not included at all. These are pretty standard in today's scrapbooking trends. The examples use stickers a lot, matted pictures, and cut-outs. There are some neat ideas, quilling in particular, and I really like the heritage pages. Because the pages were sent in, any specialty techniques are sparce and only given a few pages as examples. I agree this book is outdated overall, but is still a great place for a jump-start.

I have been married more than five years, and am still assembling my wedding scrapbook (other projects, work and children keep taking priority). Over the years, I have assembled quite a number of books and magazine articles about wedding pages. This book is my number one reference - the one I keep coming back to.
Other books will show you pages that can be done more quickly, but is that what you want to do for one of the landmark events of your life? Not every page in my scrapbook will look like the ones in this book. But, it's nice to know that at least a few of the pages were labors of love inspired by some very artistic people.
If you have only one or two pages in your wedding album that are as attractive as the ones in this book, it will have been worth the purchase.
