Kingdom Hearts Boxed Set.......2007-05-21
This is a great set! I think anyone who likes disney or played the Kingdom Hearts game would enjoy these books. I definately recommend it to anyone who is thinking about buying it! I bought these for my [...] daughter who doesn't normally like to read but these she actually asks to keep reading! I think that's the best review I can think of!
Fun books for the child who likes Kingdom Hearts.......2007-05-13
My kids were already big fans of Kingdom Hearts so these easy to read books were right up their alley. The books are comic book style so there are plenty of pictures for them to look at and keep them entertained.
my child loves this!.......2007-04-19
my child loves kingdom hearts and always want this. we already order =D
No Bookmark or Poster?.......2007-03-21
My son was very excited to get this set of books. However, the bookmark and poster that were promised in the ad didn't come with it. Very disappointing - Amazon is usually great about this stuff. I'm not returning it because I'd have to pry them from my son's hands...but sad, sad that they ripped off a child.
Kingdom Hearts ... what more do you want?.......2007-02-13
Ok firstly this comic book is based on the popular PS2 video game Kingdom Hearts, now that we got that out of the way, that's what it is. KINGDOM HEARTS, no more no less. I personally didn't find any extra cookies conserning the which I must admit is one of the reasons that I bought this comic. All in here can be found in Kingdom Hearts or in Kingdom Hearts II, from slightly more insight on the Ansem's Report is all I got out of this, but none the less a great experience once again. If you love the game and become an aficionado like myself a recomentdation is all I can give you get this manga.
Secondly this manga is preety childish, even excluding the fact that it is partly based on Disney stories, still pretty kiddy. Nicely said by the rating A for all ages. so if you are an aficionado of Kindom Hearts and didn't think that you are too manly for the game then you are not too manly for the manga trust me. KINGDOM HEARTS COMPACT TO FOR READING PLEASURE

The Conclusion to the Chain of Memories Series.......2007-03-29
Yes, you read the title right, for those of you who are just starting to read or are going to buy this book, rest assured that this is the end of the Chain of Memories saga. In the back of the book, it mentions that the next series Kingdom Hearts II will be out in stores soon, so I'm sure all of us KH fans are ready to see that series. Anyway, onto my review.
Volume 2 carries on the story from the first book. Sora, Donald, and Goofy are on a quest through Castle Oblivion to find their friends Riku and King Mickey. Sora finally remembers a little bit about the mysterious girl called Namine and is frantically searching the castle for her, however, it seems that Donald and Goofy (well Donald mainly) are getting irritated at Sora because all he talks about is Namine. While Sora and his friends are searching the castle, unbeknownst to them Riku is in Castle Oblivion on his own quest, not just a quest to find his friends, but to finally be rid of the darkness that resides in his heart.
Meanwhile, as the two "groups" conduct their search, it becomes more and more apparent that Organization XIII has their own agendas with two separate factions battling it out between each other.
That's the end of my summary, I feel that anymore might ruin some of the fun and surprise. This manga is a good conclusion, I've never played the Chain of Memories game so I'm not sure how closely this Manga follows the game, so forgive me of any ignorance. This manga is pretty much the same size as the first book, so there's plenty of story with only a couple of pages of "Bonus Comics" at the back which is awesome because sometimes the extra cartoons are a little lame. Beware that there isn't as much comedy as in the first book, this tends to lean more towards the seriousness of the group's quests though there is still a little comedy here and there which helps break the serious mood at just the right times. So get this book, finish out the series, and wait anxiously for the release of Volume 1 of Kingdom Hearts II.
***Note, something I noticed while reading the book, page 140 is actually labeled as 104, but the rest of the page numbers are correct. Just a little mistake that I saw, really thought there was a lot more pages to the book than I thought.
Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories series 2.......2007-02-20
just starting reading the book, very good combination of both sora and Rikus adventure.

Customer Reviews:
An Okay Fan Book.......2007-06-10
The World of Disgaea is a standard Japanese fan book. It contains a few promotional images and an assortment of character designs, animation sketches and backgrounds. The images were a bit too small for me (thumbnail size - 1/4 of the page). The page layouts was done well.
One-third of the book is dedicated in detailing facts that can be found in a game guide. It lists the status of different character classes and monsters, as well as equipment. There is also a summary of the plot and describes the multiple endings. All these things doesn't overpower the artwork though.
I find myself opening it once and a while, so I like it. Compared to the average costs of these sort of books, its a good deal.
Almost like a strategy guide.......2007-05-02
Almost. Very Informative. Spoilers of course, but a fan of Disgaea would love this.
Love the art.......2007-03-26
This book has some great Disgaea art. I wish there's more of it. The beginning of the book are poster and concept art of Disgaea. Then its more of the chacater development art in the back of everyone in the game. I found the character part of the book to be boring. The beginning of it with all those art are nice. This book also has some infos on the game.

Confuzzled No More!.......2007-08-01
To all Kingdom Heart fans, if you have not bought the Chain of Memories game, DON'T! I began playing the game before reading the book and I have to say that the book is better than the game by a long shot.
Lots of games have turned themselves into card RPG's and they basically suck (Metal Gear Solid, Street Fighter, etc). Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is one of those games. But the book series, however, has a better storyline to help carry-on the KH world and is less confusing than the game because when you continuously battle you loose the story and get confuzzled!. So if you are not into videogames or you just don't like the card-style gaming that KHCM gives you, then pick-up the book and be confused no more!!! Trust me it's better to spend $10 on the book than $5 on a used copy of the game!
Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories Vol. 1 gets 5 stars out of 5.
My name is Amone. Adios!
A wonderful series That Keeps Good Merit.......2007-06-09
The "Chain of Memories" series is only two volumes, but they probably make up the dissappointing, short volumes of the "Kingdom Hearts I" manga. Not only is this book a little more fleshed out, it dives deeper into the game, and doesn't exactly feel like a rush job.
The plot sounds simple. Sora, Donald, and Goofy must find Rikku and the King, who are still trapped on the other side of the World of Darkness. To do that, they must step into a castle overruled by several manipulative Members of the Organization XIII. Problem is, once they step in, they loose their memories, replaced by false ones put there by a meek girl named Namine, someone who faintly appeared in Sora's life, but by her personality, wasn't really noticed. It's a nice manga that really dives deep into Namine's thougts and feelings, and how the rebellous Axel of the Organization tries his best to keep both Sora and Namine out of harm's way.
Trust me, this manga is well worth your money, although it's labeled for All Ages, you won't see much violence. But why should there be? The humor, deep story, and funny character expressions really do this manga justice.
The Beginning of a Great Kingdom Hearts Sequel.......2007-03-21
If you've just played the Kingdom Hearts games on the Playstation console, then you probably have no idea what this manga is about. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories connects the ending of the the first Kingdom Hearts game with the beginning events in the second Kingdom Hearts game.
Now that the door has been closed (the end of the first game) Sora and his friends continue to hunt for those that they have lost. While wandering a countryside, Sora is met by a mysterious person dressed all in black. After a bit of a confrontation, the stranger tells Sora to go to Castle Oblivion, that is where he will be able to find his answers. When the gang gets to the castle, they are again confronted by another stranger (or maybe it's the same, it's hard to tell), but essentially the gang learns a little bit about the castle. As the gang travels through the castle they begin to lose memories of their times in the first game and of their friends. With the help of special "Memory Cards" the gang travels from world to world trying to find their friends, but even the friends they made in each world don't seem to be able to remember Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
Essentially that's the premise of the story, in the first book, the gang travels to Traverse Town to meet the gang from the Final Fantasy World, and they even travel to Agrabah to meet up with Aladdin and Genie.
This series does show more promise than the last set of books (though I loved the first series, they were a wee bit on the thin side for a good Manga). There's plenty of comedy, lots of action, and some great adventures, this first book even has it's own little cliffhanger ending. I just hope that this time they travel to Halloween Town, that's the one thing I wished that they would've done in the first series. Anyway, it's a great read, go out and buy it if your a KH fan or even if you're a noobie to the franchise and thinks it looks like a cute read.
KH:CoM...a funny and amusing read........2007-03-08
I must agree with the person that admitted that he was a bit disappointed with the first series' books. I was as well and so was my brother, both of us having played Kingdom Hearts all the way through more than once and knowing all the events. It was way too short and exciting things were cut from the manga. However, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories stays true to the game (from what I remember, anyway) and still makes it a fascinating read. It continues the story of Sora - the child given the awesome responsibility of wielding the legendary "Keyblade," an awesome weapon that can wrought both destruction and salvation. I have always like this series, and have played all three games. I can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 2 to be turned into a manga. I hope it will just keep getting better! Oh, and, as a correction, this book's cover is not on backwards by mistake. They decided to stick with the true manga style, which is written right to left, instead of left to right like we're used to in the States. I just wanted to clear that up with the woman that gave this a one-star. Sorry if I offend anyone, but this series deserves a bit more than that.
Disappointed.......2007-02-20
Although the book itself was in excellent condition, the cover of the book was on backwards. Since I bought this to give to a child as a gift. I was disappointed when he pointed out that the cover was on backwards.

Customer Reviews:
good buy .......2007-06-10
I bought this and h How to Draw Manga Volume 2 Compiling Techniques (How to Draw Manga). But i used This book way more than the other one.
Its got a very nice Creating Characters section and a Expressions one. And creating a Story.
It's an okay book.......2006-04-25
I remember this book well because it was the very first "How To Draw Manga" book that I purchased. IMO I think some things might be a bit confusing because some of the translating wasn't the best. I also wouldn't reccomend this book for kids because some of it was a bit innapropriate. As far as learning goes...it was okay. I'd still reccommend another book to someone that is a total beginner in drawing manga. I know I was able to learn more when I purchased a book that was more strait to the point and had very clear directions.
Great intro .......2006-03-23
Most people will just think that this book will teach you how to draw, in essence it goes further explaining the work putting together the whole Manga. It had my attention from the first moment that I picked it up. This'll let you get a good feel for every section without all the fluff. All that I found out I have to apply it but I'm having a hard time a dedicated manga supply store...... I wish that HTDM would include individual supplies on their website.
Looking for help?.......2005-08-05
Looking for help? Want to go beyond the beginner stage but not ready for tones and the like? Well then this book is perfect! I would reccomend this book for those who are past the beginner stage since the book doesnt go too indepth in certain areas, so it Isnt perfect for nooobs.this book will teach youhow to express emotions, ages, the facial differences between genders and more. it is devided into:
Chap. 1: drawing the face, this chapter is self-explanatory, yet I wish it delved more deeply into its subject, so this was the runt of the chapters when it comes to Quality.
Chap.2 : drawing the body, Quite handy, it goes into Drawing the body as blocks (though personally I like the way I draw my blocks, but to each his/her own), deformation, proportions (shouldnt proportions have been at the front of thr Chapter?), hand and feet (brilliant!!) and more.
Chap. 3: drawing characters, The best section in the book, it shows you how eyes ,clothing and surroundings add to 1st impresssions and the step to creating characters and storys. i can find a few minor complaints, thought the worst was the translation, it could have been better (they mistranslated right to left!)But it is still comprehendable.happy reading
Not much for the price.......2005-07-06
I bought this book from here on Amazon about a year ago. Since then I have rarely used it except for a few times for refrences if Im not able to get online at the time. It has some helpful information but for the price it isnt really worth it since you can find EVERYTHING in that book online for free. The first half of the book just goes through the types of pens and ink you should use and the life of a manga artist etc. Then it finally gets to the good stuff but it barely touches anything before moving to the next subject. And the part I was mostly upset with was the hair section. It shows you how to draw hair flowing and such but thats it. Does not give tips how to draw hair at all. So basically, the only reason you should by this book is if you want to waist money for something you will probably only end up using for quick reffrinces. There are better books out there for that... like an actual Manga comic or something. Or a gallery book from your favorite anime show.
If you want to learn the basics of drawing manga, this book is useless and I can save you money right now. Just visit BakaNeko, PolyKarbon, MangaTutorials websites or Julie Dillons tutorial located on the [...] website. Everything you need is on those sites and all contain more info than this book.
There are some other good How to Draw Manga books out there when you wanna start honing on a certain area but this isnt one of them. Save some money and visit one of the above manga sites or go purchase on of the other How to Draw Manga books that are spicificly for what you wish to get better in.
Customer Reviews:
Perfect for perfecting female characters.......2007-08-10
This is the book if your having trouble with females characters or looking to improve it some more.
All of the other people complaining about nudity should just stfu. If they're in clothing how do you get the details you really need to improve your drawings. You have to be mature enough to know that it's art, not porn. There's a difference. It's the human body for god's sake...you have one don't you? Everyone is a human so why the hell are you complaining about a human body o.O If you don't want to "perfect" your females characters look at some other crap, but if your really willing, why care about the nude females. You are here to draw and not just flip through it to get horny and jack/jill off.
Mkay...onto the book xD
What others called "sexual positions" are simply positions that you use every day. Bending over, laying on the bed, sitting down, standing, and yes, some people even crawl to reach for things under their desk. Chill out about that. This book pretty much covers everything, the face which I needed help on badly. The upper body, arms, lower body, stomach and etc. I had trouble with fingers and this somewhat even briefly covered that. This is a truly great book by an amazing author(s)
How to draw manga.......2007-05-30
The entire experience was amazing. Shipped earlier then expected, in pristine condition, no hassles no worry.
The product itself is great. The guide truly helps with the basic structure of drawing characters anatonomically correct. It's always better to learn how to draw something right first and then learn how to break the rules later.
Not to be immature, but, ew.......2007-05-27
This book does have *some* useful information, but it is mostly scantily clad or nude women in sexual positions. The only part that I found relatively interesting was the section on different clothing textures. I would *not* recommend this book to anyone that wants to learn realistic anatomy or poses.
How to draw manga or females in sexual positions?.......2007-05-13
Thinking this book would make drawing the female form easier in the manga style might not be the best motivation for buying this book. The book is almost completely based on sexual positions you may want to draw in and in my opinion isn't what drawing the female figure should be about. Buy this if your not interested in drawing anything but dirty pictures!
Excellent Book!.......2007-04-15
This book was helpful and provided in-depth info about the female form. It covers drawing ears, the hips, chest, eyes, as well as a variety of other featured acquitted with drawing girls. For those who bought this book and complained about the nudity... dont! Any true artist undserstands that the human body is just another part of their work. Ignoring the mature theme, this book was resourceful and I learned a great deal! I recommend it for beginner and intermediate artists alike.
Book Description
The popularity of manga continues to row, inspiring interest in learning how to draw in this exciting style of comics. Estudio Joso creates the ultimate guide to illustration—384 pages of manga instruction. The Monster Book of Manga is divided into sections focusing on the most figures and themes—Girls, Boys, Samurais, Monsters, and more. Each illustration is broken down into six stages accompanied by step-by-step instructions, taking the artist from initial back-and-white sketches to the final color piece. They are all accompanied by practical suggestions, hints, and tips.
Customer Reviews:
excellent content for intermediate-level illustrators.......2007-09-24
I'm familiar with manga illustrations, but certainly not an expert, and this is the main reason I found "The Monster Book of Manga" very useful. It's not a how-to-draw book, but rather a draw-like-this manual, with step by step examples of how a finished piece is done. Here is, briefly, a list of what I consider to be its strong and weak points.
STRONG POINTS:
- Over fifty, very detailed, illustrations, each broken down into six stages, from sketch to full colour. It's relatively easy to see through the process if you already know the basics of drawing the human figure.
- Six major categories (girls, fantasy, monsters, science fiction, music and samurai) that will help you become familiarized with many popular types of manga characters, from school girls to androids.
- All lessons and tips aside, the artwork is gorgeous.
- Each character is drawn in a different pose, so the book also works as a pose reference manual at some point
- The costumes are drawn in detail and work as inspiration to create your own
- It's a very good practice manual and can inspire your own original characters based on the types included.
WEAK POINTS:
- Don't mistake this book for a beginner's how-to book, some of the illustrations included are quite difficult to draw, even if you're just copying them. Furthermore, I feel they should have perhaps broken down each drawing into more stages, so as to make the process easier to understand.
- Being a draw-this type of book, it tends to limit your creativity a bit.
- Some of the tips and explanations are really not necessary. What's the use of putting 'In this case, we have chosen violets and blues' next to a violet and blue dragon?
- The introduction to each character type could have been expanded a bit, perhaps with examples from actual manga series.
- The chapter on digital manga is a bit disappointing, in that it's mostly an outline of Photoshop's tools and functions, and seems to focus less on tips directly useful to manga artists.
CONCLUSION
"The Monster Book of Manga" is overall very useful for artists who already have some basic knowledge of drawing the human figure and a more-than-basic knowledge of manga specifics. Buy it if you want to improve and experiment. It's wonderful for practice, reference and inspiration, but it will not teach you how to draw.
Good comprehensive book.......2007-09-19
This book has a great deal of information on how to draw, which is one part of the manga experience. For the creative/motivational stuff, try the manga story sites for inspiration (I go to www.JustExpressing.com, there are others). Combine the great drawing ability with the examples of well written story lines on these web sites, based on Japanese characters, and you'll be well on your way on experiencing manga.
A must buy!.......2007-08-29
This book is amazing. I was looking at in a store contemplating buying it cause it was a tad bit expensive, when a stranger came up and told me it was a great book. I bought it and it really was worth all the money. It has such detailed instructions on how to draw some amazing manga. I have to admit there are a few pieces of art in it that are a bit inappropriate for little kids but it's still a great book and worth the money. BUY IT!

Book does have alot of visuals but it's not very informative. It's not for beginners but more advanced artists.

Reference Guide for Manga.......2007-08-24
This book is a great reference for male anatomy; unfortunately being pretty much the ONLY one in the series based on men, this is great for learning poses, gestures, and how clothes overlay the body. Not so terrific for ideas, like clothing or characters. I recommend it for those who are having issues with how the male body is formatted (I use it as a reference in that way)
Disapointing.......2007-06-10
Its almost as if they made This book to shut up people complaining that they only focused on Females. It really was not hepful so i didnt shovel out the 20 bucks for it. They basicly Haft-tried with it.
:(.......2007-05-13
At least this book hasn't got all the characters in sexual positions, but it does have very boring looking characters also... Maybe the specific male / female books aren't his best works.
Extremely Helpful.......2007-04-22
This book has definetely helped me in the area of drawing male characters. I have also been able to draw females with ease, but the males I always found frustrating. The step-by-step intructions really let you in on the main parts of the male and how to draw them correctly. It compares it to the female body as well.
Various poses are included in it as well which helped me a lot in my characters. If you struggle with the same problem as I did, then I highly recommend this guide. It also includes a fantastic section on hands, feet, and charaters wearing glasses. Any true artist should own this book!
Book Description
This volume focuses on animals and (animated) inanimate objects. It starts by introducing key points in drawing animals in that delightful chibi character/ultra-stylized manner. The book also contains instruction on anthropomorphism or how to make animated objects that frequently appear in manga and anime seem to move and talk like human beings.

This is new!.......2005-11-27
This book teaches how to draw super deformed animals!I never would have thought of it!Even though SD animals are not as popular as SD people this book is still good for a manga fan.
A Super Deformed charater is a manga charater with a big head, slightly chubby body, and cute looks. SD charaters are usaully know as chibis. Useully SD charaters are human but hey this could be a new begining of chibi animals!Mabye SD animals can be just as popular too!
The reason I gave this book four stars is it just goes over millions of animals until the book ends. I would have give it five stars if it just teached more about the expresions, and the poses and how to make SD animals in motion because they practiclly rushed through those steps.
Over I do recomend this book though but you kind of have to have the basics on expressions and body movement of SD charaters down first. So before buying this book try buying "how to draw manga Super-Deformed charaters Vol. 1 people" first then buy this book.
