Great book.......2007-08-05
This book gave me great tips and had a lot of good info about contest items. Overall full of great info about my Pearl And Diamond game.
Useful.......2007-07-29
This book was easy to follow and was very useful for solving the initial game. However, if you are only going to buy one book or you are trying to catch all the pokemon, the volume 2 pokedex is even more useful.
Not a Pokedex.......2007-07-13
I bought this guide thinking it was a PokeDex. Had I known it was just a walkthrough I wouldn't have bought it.
However, for a walkthrough it is alright. It is a little jumbled and disorganized, but it has lots of information.
My Comment To Confusion.......2007-07-12
Many of your Reviews about this guide say that after the League, it ditches you. Or, that there is not a full pokedex. Well, do any of you see the big VOL 1 on the right hand corner of your books? That means Volume 1. Which means, there is a Volume 2. I have volume 2, and says nothing about the pokemon league or gym leaders, etc, But it does talk about everything you can do AFTER beating the pokemon league. And there is a Pokedex which lists ALL 490 Pokemon. So Buy that Book Instead. This book though, I Have Never Read. So Based on Your Reviews, This Is What I give It.
Great addition to my son's Pokemon collection........2007-07-04
Great guide for my son's evergrowing Pokemon collection. It helped him a lot to beat the game.

Customer Reviews:
Really want to give this 5 stars!.......2007-08-31
This book is SO pretty and is FULL of cute projects. I cannot give it 5 stars, though I want to. Why? There are a few projects, trench coat, bathrobe, etc where you don't learn how to make the project, you learn how to embellish it. Trench coat and bathrobe are in the materials list! Also, the photos (though gorgeous) sometimes show only a fraction of the finished piece. And there aren't always finished dimensions for the projects. There is a definate learning curve.
That's all I can complain about... It is otherwise lovely. I am off to sew a cute wool beret!
Very Nice!.......2007-07-23
I adore making things for my home myself, and this book has many projects I have done, albeit in my own way. What I also enjoy about this is the clear explanations of how-to. I also enjoy pictures in rooms that are not so perfect, but the charm of "un-perfection" is appealing! I believe novice and experienced alike will enjoy this book
Cute.......2007-07-16
I enjoyed the patterns in this book. Contrary to an earlier review, their are patterns in the appendix, however they require an enlargement with the assistance of a computer/scanner/etc. I enjoy the variety of crafts. They are organized in to sections. Some include: romance (chamise, bed covers, bath robes, slippers), household (apron, refurbished umbrella, hammock), bedroom (drapes, ottmans). To be honest, I haven't sewn anything yet, I just enjoy reading craft books. But it seems straight forward. They also have conversions in cm and inches for those of you who care. I recommend this book.
Charming, but.................2007-06-15
This is a charming book and its great if you want simple projects but I wasn't impressed by much of the book. There were some cute projects but overall, I think this book trails Lotta Jansdotter, Amy Butler and even Denyse Schmidt wrt usefulness. The photography for the book had lots of style but seriously, think twice before buying this book.
beautiful, useful and inspiring..........2007-05-24
I absolutely adore this book. The projects are lovely and useful. All of her descriptions are easy and done in full. I especially enjoy the different ways to hem. Excellent projects for family gifts or things to make you and your home more beautiful. I look forward to more books from this author.

Simple Solered Jewelry & Accessories.......2007-09-02
I recently purchsed two soldered pendants at a craft show and desperately wanted to find out how to make these myself. I found this book and it is a wonderful, comprehensive, easy to understand book on this technique. Immediately was able to make my own with complete confidence. Highly recommend.
Not what I thought. No sterling silver...........2007-08-06
I purchased this book with the idea of learning how to do some simple sterling silver soldering. This book has no information on how to solder silver. It describes stain glass soldering techniques which uses a much lower temperature solder. Since I only work with sterling silver I sent the book back. However I must say that it is a very nice book. There are a lot of nice projects which look relatively easy. So if you want to make interesting jewelry that does not use semi precious or precious materials this could be it.
Simply Delightful book!.......2007-07-22
This book is simply fabulous! The details and descriptions make a seemingly challenging craft easy to master. The girls at Simply Swank are simply divine! So accessible and personable! True customer service! Check out their website for more goodies and instruction. The DVD that they have provides a ton of practical information on how to solder with ease and I can't wait to try out my new Simply Swank soldering kit to make all the gorgeous jewelry and decorative accessories in the book and more. The possibilities for this new idea are endless. Definitely a great book to have in your collection whether you are a jewelry artist like me or a scrapbooker, or someone who enjoys making decorations, like Christmas ornaments. Many possibilities from this one simple craft!
Learn to Solder - the Right Way!!!.......2007-05-22
Of all my books on metal - this is absolutely the best one I have! Directions and instructions are very clear and understandable. There are some great projects to practice with and build your confidence. The use of this excellent book has improved my skills considerably. I am so glad I found it!
Simple Soldered Jewelry & Accessories.......2007-05-20
Concise instructions, excellent close-up photographic detail. My only disappointment is that mixed in with the jewelry that wowed me was some that was just ok. But, I would recommend the book simply because the techniques are sound and easy to understand. And, there's some very cool and imaginative jewelry in this book.

Customer Reviews:
Useful.......2007-06-27
This was a very useful accessory for the mini Dungeons and Dragons game. Great for first time players!
Old School Dice.......2007-06-25
This is perfect for old-school gamers who insist on dice being of a certain sort and like the traditional pouch arrangement along with the distinctive colors. This item was well worth the time to find.
Nice Dice.......2007-03-09
The dice are nice and a good start for the game. You get everything you need to start playing D&D. The bag is a little small and does not leave room for too much expansion. A True D&D player likes lots of dice and different kinds. You can probably find less expensive dice in a hobby store. You are bascially paying for the bag with the D&D logo.
Too expensive.......2007-03-06
For what you get this item is too expensive. You can get the same number of dice plus an additional percentile dice for $2-3 less in most places. This is not worth the price with all the options for getting your dice from another source.
dungeons and dragons dice highly recommended.......2007-01-28
Excellent! This product was exactly as described and pictured. It made a wonderful gift. My order arrived timely and in good condition. Price was reasonable.

GREAT IDEAS FOR THE MOST PART........2007-09-06
I ENJOYED LOOKING AT THIS BOOK.
MOST OF THE IDEAS I WOULD NOT USE. SOME I WOULD, I FOCUSED MORE ON WHAT I WOULD NOT WEAR. I DO NOT KNOW WHY MS. MATHIESON PUT SOME WOMEN IN CLOTHES THAT WERE CLEARLY TO LARGE FOR THEM? ARE WE NOT TRYING TO WEAR AGE CORRECT CLOTHES WITHOUT LOOKING LIKE BAG LADIES? HUH? THERE ARE WOMEN OUT THERE WHO WILL LOOK AT THE BOOK AND SAY "SEE, MS. MATHIESON SAYS IN OK TO WEAR CLOTHES TOO BIG. I DO NOT CARE IF YOU ARE 50/60/70/OR 100, WEAR CLOTHES THAT SAYS YOU ARE A WOMAN AND A LADY.
THERE ARE SOME GOOD IDEAS TO USE, ESPECIALLY THE IDEA OF THE CLASSIC LOOK. I LIKED THE PICTURES SHOWING THE 20SOMETHING GAL WITH THE 50SOMETHING GAL WEARING SIMILAR CLOTHES. GREAT IDEA.
YOU CANNOT GO WRONG WITH RALPH LAUREN, A GREAT LINE OF CLASSIC LOOKING CLOTHES. THE MESSAGE WAS VERY CLEAR TO ME: STICK WITH CLASSIC DESIGNERS, ONES WHO HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR AWHILE, BUY A CLASSIC STYLE AND LOOK AND YOU CANNOT GO WRONG.
I THINK IF SOMEONE IS PLANNING ON BUYING THIS BOOK, JUST REMEMBER, SOME OF THE LOOKS TO ME MADE THE WOMEN APPEAR TO LOOK MORE SLOPPY. BUT WHEN THE WOMEN HAD ON CLASSIC LOOKS, THEN TRY TO COPY THEM.
GREAT IDEAS FOR THE MOST PART.
Staying cool........2007-08-05
Sherrie's book is exactly what I was looking for. Women over 50 are at the top of their game and want hip, stylish and appropriate looks to show it. For all the womens' magazines and fashion tv shows out there, thank you Sherrie for filling a much-needed void in a world of style advice. Cool women over 50 salute you!
Classic and attractive styling for those over 50-ish.......2007-07-01
This book covers fashion styling for both women and men over 50-ish.
The styles are not too trendy and more classic (and comfortable). Very achievable for an average man or woman to put together.
Even though the author quotes several high-end stores and designers, it would be easy to find similar styles in lower-end stores,--those stores that an average person can afford (eg: TALBOTS).
The before and after color photos are wonderful and so helpful.
The author uses regular people to model the suggested fashions--(not a size ZERO model)!
Fun Book for the over 50 Set.......2007-07-01
This is a fun read with great pictures. However, I find the author a bit rigid in some of her rules, and she thinks Burberry is mid-priced while I think it's expensive. My husband and I (both of us stylish) disagreed with one woman and one man "never cool" photo. Regardless, it's a cool book and would be great to gift(given with utmost love)to an unfashionable relative or two.
Good at any age! .......2007-06-28
I am 33 and I love this book and consider it very helpful. The wardrobe ideas are classic and classy and I learned a few things after reading it. Even though I am not a babyboomer, I still found it very hip for people my age. And the photos offered good explanations of where the fashion victim went wrong and how to fix it.
Book Description
Presenting the thoroughly revised, fully illustrated edition of The Nikon Compendium, updated by the technical editor of Nikon Owner magazine to include all the new Nikon cameras, lenses, and accessories. This is what Nikon enthusiasts have eagerly awaited: the most complete Nikon reference book ever. At almost double the length of the original, the guide describes virtually every Nikon camera ever produced, right up to the wide variety of popular digital models. It aids identification, offers user-friendly tips, explains what system fits with which camera, and discusses what limitations occur when equipment from one generation is married to items from another. Professional and amateur photographers, as well as enthusiasts, collectors, and retailers will want this on their bookshelves.
Customer Reviews:
New Nikon Compendium : short review.......2007-07-13
Compared to the former 'Nikon Compendium' this book has a lot more pictures and was of course expanded to include all the models up to the date of publishing. I got the impression though that it has not been reviewed very well before going to press : there are quite some editing errors (line breaks in the middle of sentences or words f.ex.) and grammar errors that could have been avoided if the manuscript hadn't been rushed to the printer. I also expected more in depth comments on the lenses and some camera models - the stress has clearly been laid on the digital bodies. Some accessories have been omitted or important details have not been adressed at all (just an example : the fact that early filters had chrome rings and later black rings - a detail, but something worth noting IMO). The book missed a chance to really be THE reference book on all things Nikon. Otherwise, lots of pages and pictures for the money!
Nikon.......2007-05-07
A thorough and well done work on the history of Nikon. It is better in my opinion than another book titled "Nikon - A Celebration".
For Every Nikon Owner.......2006-11-12
An excellent resource for those tbat use the Nikon brand. This is the best book I have read on Nikon products and Amazon has the best price.
A valuable information source for Nikon owners.......2005-02-08
Despite sloppy writing and editing at times (there is indeed a mysterious glut of grammatical errors), this 2004 edition of the Nikon Compendium is a valuable source of information on Nikon cameras, lenses, flashes, and accessories.
When I first opened the book, I felt both excited and overwhelmed. There was so much juicy information on Nikon products in this hardcover that I simply did not know where to start. Ok, the first Nikon I used was an FM2, so I flipped to page 60 and found lots of cool information from background to features to versions to pictures of the FM2. Then I jumped to the page on the N50 (F50 outside of North America), a consumer-oriented SLR that was the first SLR I bought. Here, I found so much information on the N50 that I wished I had read this when I was still using that camera. Next stop was the D70, which I currently own. Yes, this book is very up-to-date (as of end of 2004), and covers all current d-SLR models in Nikon's lineup.
There's also tons of information on the Nikkor lenses, the Speedlight flashes, the Coolpix digital camera line (but the latest model, Coolpix 8800, is not included), plus accessories. I don't know if this covers 100% of what Nikon has produced, but that doesn't matter. The book covers all the Nikon products that mattered in the history of cameras, and there's plenty of info on currently sold products. There's even a section on the new Coolwalker portable hard drive from Nikon, which the author cautions against buying since you don't want to "put all your eggs in one basket" should the hard disk fail.
Anyway, this book is not about photography at all, and nobody is going to become a better photographer upon reading this. The book also doesn't review the specific pros and cons of each product; it's more about specs and features. It's geared toward Nikon collectors, but also normal Nikon owners who want to know Nikon's history and product lines. It's esp. valuable when you want to buy something used. With this book in hand, you can find out what the equipment does or doesn't do, and whether there were better versions before or after its introduction. This is not a pricing guide, but it arms you with enough knowledge to make a meaningful, reasonable bid according to your needs.
The book's inside cover note says it's not sponsored by Nikon.
A major improvement over the first edition.......2004-09-07
This update of the first edition by Hillebrand & Hauschild contains all of the original material plus coverage of the lastest Nikon eqipment. The current author, Simon Stafford, has added entirely new chapters on digital cameras (both the SLR and Coolpix series) and the content comprises all models up to the publication date. New material covering lenses and accessories has also been added. Chapters that correspond to those of the earlier edition are mostly paraphased with some errors corrected. Of particular interest, Stafford offers his opinions on the advantages and disadvantages of many items based on his use of them as a professional photographer who is interested in what works best rather than what has the highest status image. In some cases he recommends prosumer models instead of the professional level items for this reason. (You may not always agree with him, but his thoughts are worth considering when making equiment selections.) He also provides cautions about operations that could produce unwanted results. The book contains a lot of detail on the controls of the cameras and accessories--perhaps to the point where it could replace the operating manual. On the other hand, the specifics of variations of each item throughout its production cycle and photos of each do not match the detail of Peter Braczko's book, The Complete Nikon System (which predates the digital era, so does not include those cameras). This edition of the Compendium is an update of the 2003 European edition. It shows its English heritage through language useage, and the phrasing can at times sound strange to American ears. More importantly, the book suffers from a lack of effective copy editing resulting in numerous grammatical and other errors, especially in the digital sections, which must have been added at the last minute. For example, fisheye Nikkor lenses are discussed on pgs. 209-10, but the 10.5 mm DX Fisheye lens info was dropped into the middle of the perspective control Nikkors discussion. Stafford is an editor for the Nikon Owners Club, and the book ends with two pages of shameless advertising for the organization. Despite these minor glitches, the book is well worthwhile. The price is a steal for a hard cover photography book with numerous color and B&W photos. Even if you own the first edition, this book is worth buying.

Customer Reviews:
A Wonderful Book.......2002-06-13
Heavily illustrated with excellent diagrams and color photos, this book is not only for anyone learning the art of art-doll making but will also appeal to anyone who enjoys seeing what the creative, human imagination can devise. Just a joy to read from cover to cover and the beautiful photos will provide inspiration for many different types of artist.
Susanna Oroyan gives us the best contemporary information available from the art doll world while also providing the historical bones of costume design.
Susan Oroyan has done it again!.......2002-02-28
Susan Oroyan has done an excellent work. I bought both of her books "Designing the Doll" and "Finishing the Figure" If you own one of the books, you have to own the other one, they go together. The books have a great deal of information and details on doll making. The book is good for beginners or professional doll makers. You will love it.
Great Artistic Inspiration.......2001-11-12
I just picked this book up in a local bookstore and immediately got the itch to pick up some clay. I did not have time to read much, the photographs were what enthralled me. Oroyan picked some fine dolls to illustrate her book and it offers a wealth of imagination to the doll artist. The detail in some of the cosuming is fabulous and the characters of some of the dolls unforgetable!
Another Must Have for the Dollmaker's Library!.......2001-07-10
This is the fourth book I own of Susanna Oroyan's and each one is an absolute must for the libraries of serious dollmakers. This book goes into depth about accessorizing dolls and has great illustrations for making shoes, for fitting costumes to dolls, for creating doll-sized animals, etc. It's fantastic and very easy to follow. The best part of Susanna Oroyan's books are the photographs of dolls by a wide variety of artists. It's like going to a museum. Someday I hope that my dolls are pictured in one of her books. That's a definite goal to work towards! And with her books in my library, I feel I have a great teacher to help get me there!
Sheer Oroyan Magic - and rich with practical information!.......2001-04-02
How we have all waited for this! And what a gift this book is.
In this, her latest masterwork, this gifted and inspiring author and teacher shares with us a true cornucopia of thoughts, techniques and ideas to help any dollmaker to bring the creations in our imagination into reality. This book inspires, encourages and gives answers both to questions we have and to questions we didn't even yet know to ask!
The illustrations and crisp, clear photography, as usual, are superb! For me, an addittional delight of this book is that (as well as showing me new creations by doll artists I already know and love) it introduces me to some absolutely wonderful new artists!
I just LOVE this book and can see it being another one of Susanna Oroyan's works that is a springboard and catalyst for all of us to make 'real' our dreams, moods and flights of imagination!
Thank you to Susanna, the artists who allowed their work to be seen by us and all involved in bringing this book to us!

Book Description
This book is the third installment on making creative art doll clothing and accessories from successful doll artist Patti Culea, following Creative Cloth Doll Making and Creative Cloth Doll Faces, both from Rockport Publishers. This book builds on the previous two by delving into how to make exotic and beautiful garments and accessories such as hats, shoes, and purses for art dolls.
This is the only book available on making clothing for art dolls. Moreover, it not only includes a pattern for various wardrobe staples, but the author offers basic garment making techniques, as well as information on decorative fabric treatments and embellishments.
Culea provides tips and techniques for creating everything from a vintage 1940's ensemble to a 1960's type of outfit. There are techniques for dyeing, painting, and stamping to create a beautiful evening gown and how to drape a doll body to create your own pattern. Professional tips, ideas for embellishments, cutting-edge techniques, short cuts, pattern making ideas, and more are also included.

A
Dungeon Master 2-pack that includes both a new
D&D screen and a bonus
d20 Modern screen -- in landscape format with new art.
Useful to anyone running any type of roleplaying campaign, this Deluxe
Dungeon Master Screens 2-pack contains both a
Dungeons & Dragons screen and a bonus screen for the
d20 Modern Roleplaying Game.
The tables on the back of the
Dungeon Master's Screen have been revised and updated to comply with the changes made in the new version 3.5 core rulebooks released in 2003.
Every table includes a page number reference you can use to look up more detailed information. You’ll also find some tables modified specifically for this screen that will help you get the information you need as quickly as possible during play.
Also included is a bonus four-panel screen geared toward the action-packed world of your
d20 Modern campaign. Because both screens fully support the d20 System, they can be used separately or together by an experienced
Dungeon Master or Gamemaster.
Customer Reviews:
Not bad if you can find it under 10 bucks w/ shipping.......2007-05-09
The tables include:
-Equipment hardness/hitpoints
-Substance hardness/hitpoints
-Break/Burst DCs
-Items affected by magical attacks
-Size and AC of objects
-Object hardness/hitpoints
-Wall stats
-Door stats
-Turning undead
-Increase/Decrease weapon damage by size
-Attack roll modifiers
-AC modifiers
-Influencing NPC attitudes
-Missing w/ a thrown weapon figure
-Climb check DCs
-Listen check DCs
-Combat Actions (AoO)
-Concentration Check DCs
-Skills list (Armor check, AoO)
-Ability modifiers
-Movement and Distance
-Hampered movement
-Armored/Encumbered speeds
-Max distance for spot checks
-Detect Magic stats
-Detect Evil stats
-Light sources and illumination
While the list is comprehensive, I was looking for some random encounter tables, oh well. The screen is short and while I didn't think that would be an issue, it is. I'm now paperclipping the D20 Modern screen (which has a few D&D relevant things on it, but not many) on top of the D&D one (they're the same size exactly).
Cool, but not necessary.......2007-04-03
Cool looking, but you could do without them. Nice quick info on inside, but again could do without.
Never shipped.......2007-02-08
We ordered this a month ago. We kept waiting and checking.. not shipped yet. Wait some more, not shipped yet. The item said "usually ships in 1 to 2 weeks" however, in 4 weeks, still "not shipped yet". Recomend if you want this, to buy it somewhere else. We ended up canceling this order and getting it somewhere else. Amazon doesn't know how to ship this particualr item.
Nice, but pricey.......2007-01-12
The charts selected for the inside of the screen are surprisingly useful; basically, they selected a lot of the things that most frequently come into play during a dungeon crawl, but that most people wouldn't bother to learn or remember. Things like various item and material hardnesses, common modifiers to AC, various types of actions and whether they provoke Attacks of Opportunity, skills, movement penaltes, light, and auras for both magic and evil/good. The creators were thoughtful enough to include the book and page number for various charts in case you need to get more info. On the downside, as other reviews mentioned it is surprisingly short for a screen, and pretty high-priced considering what you get. Yeah, yeah; you get a bonus D20 modern screen. Wow. I'd say that seven bucks would be a more reasonable price; five if it didn't come with a D20 modern screen.
It ain't that bad -- it's actually pretty good.......2006-09-22
Generally my opinion is that a screen is a screen is a screen. However, this screen is actually better than most. I like the landscape, 4-panel format because it means I can see and be seen over the screen, while it still hides my map, my notepad and my dice rolls. It also has a better center of gravity since it is lower and wider, which means it almost never falls over, even when struck by a handful of dice or my marauding 18-month old. That is not a claim that most portrait-oriented screens can make.
Is the screen a black-out room and cone of silence rolled into one? Of course not. If you need the full height of the older-styled 11" screens, this one won't work for you. But really, if you are playing with people who can't keep their eyes off the occasional flash of paper behind the DM's screen, don't blame the screen; get new friends.
For my part, the most important part is that WoTC (a company I don't think much of normally) actually gave some thought to what was on the screen. The inside is well thought out, with useful charts and tables easy to hand. Easily the best part is the full listing of all actions, and whether they are free, standard, or movement equivalent, and whether they provoke an Attack of Opportunity or not. The table with hardness ratings for standard items is also useful for those spur-of-the-moment actions when the PCs want to break down a random door, chop that chest open, or split a table in two.
Normally I wouldn't bother to review a screen, but this one has such an unfairly low rating that I almost feel sorry for it. It's a good product; I use it in every session, it keeps the players' eyes off the important stuff, and it's durable enough that even after 2 years of use it's in quite good shape. If for some reason you don't have a screen already, you could do a lot worse than this one.

Another great addition to the tile sets........2007-09-26
I have bought all 5 sets and they compliment each other. A must buy for any DM. They provide a good visual of any room and make it easier for combat encounters. Much better than a bland grid board or hand drawn map.
D&D Dungeon Tiles Are Godsend.......2007-05-26
I was shocked when I recieved my dungeon tiles in the mail. These are a great addition to any game of D&D. Considering I was using cardboard cutouts from cereal boxes with 1" squares drawn all over them for my older adventures, these are an improvement. If you want more detail and realism added to your game don't hesitate to get yourself some of these tiles.
Hidden Crypts should have stayed hidden........2007-04-10
Although an improvement over the "Arcane Hallways" set, I was still unimpressed. There are too many little pieces (once again) that take too long to set up. Some of the larger pieces are useful though. I wish they would just release sets of building floor plans, in order to create quick towns, instead of one building per set.
Great Accessory.......2007-03-19
This and the other Dungeon Tiles are a great visual accessory for any D&D game. Whether you use the prepainted miniatures or counters, sometimes it is difficult to describe a dungeon accurately. These tiles eliminate that problem. A great purchase
Excellent and nearly indestructable.......2007-03-05
I've been able to purchase all three sets so far, and can attest to their use and durability.
I had some fall out of my gaming kit and into the snow, I collected them all, except two I missed. The first I found the next day, the second a week later, sopping wet.
Despite the elements and the time passed, they dried out, and even the one a week later was only slightly warped. Pressing between two books fixed it just fine.
