Customer Reviews:
Fantastic! I love this book!.......1998-11-27
This book filled my burning desire to know everything about dollhouses & furniture from the last 50 years. There are no gaps of missing information or omitions of important items in this detailed and comprehensive book. Quite a relief after seeing an army of inadequate collector books flood the market. I'll have hours of fun reading this. My only complaint is some of the photos are dark or of poor color quality. I want to view these things in their full glory.
A walk down the memory lane of my childhood!.......1998-08-07
This book is jam-packed with useful info, great pictures, and a very enjoyable writing style. I found myself constantly saying "I had that -- I remember that -- my friend had that one!" The book has been my constant companion ever since it arrived. What's more, it has sparked a new interest in collecting the old tin litho houses from the 50s and 60s -- items I had all but forgotten when I moved on to 1" scale wood miniatures. Thank you for a truly remarkable book, one which many of my friends will be enjoying, too.
The BEST comprehensive book on contemporary dollhouses........1998-07-21
Zillner has actually answered burning questions I've had on dollhouses and their furnishings. This is by far the BEST reference I've seen in 25 years of collecting. I highly recommend the book.
A must for a collector's reference library!.......1998-04-15
Informative, well written, well illustrated. If you're a collector, this book is a great reference.
Superb reference book, one of a kind in its class........1998-02-10
After searching for a reference book of this type for many months, I finally discovered this book through the internet. I have over 50 collectible reference books in my library and this one I would rate at the very top. A comprehensive, beautifully photographed, helpful reference guide.

Since making her first doll in 1989, artist Nancy Wiley has earned recognition and accolades both within and outside of the doll field. Her stylized and imaginative figures have been featured in magazines such as Mary Engelbreit s Home Companion, In Style and George, as well as all the major doll-collecting publications. A Dollmaker s Art showcases 85 of Ms. Wiley s dolls in full-color photos, organized by theme and presented with insightful commentaries from the artist, and includes a step-by-step photo essay that demonstrates the development of one doll from start to finish. The collection includes several never-before-seen pieces created for debut at the artist s upcoming one-woman show, to be held at the Muscatine Art Center in Iowa from August 15 December 19, 2004. Author Louise Fecher, longtime writer and researcher in the field of contemporary artist dolls, extensively interviewed Ms. Wiley s family, friends, colleagues and critics to create an engaging biographical profile that traces the evolution of this dynamic artist.

Wonderful Book.......2002-09-24
This is a wonderful book about the fabulous dolls and accessories of the 1950s. It has lots of photos and complete descriptions and something for everyone. It is comprehensive and a "must" for collectors of this era- perfect for research or simply enjoyment and a trip down memory lane. Well done! Keep the books coming!
Excellent Resource Guide.......2001-01-25
I bought this book to match the clothes that I buy at garage sales and auctions to the dolls that I own and to make sure that any dolls I'm considering are dressed in their original clothes, and I was not dissapointed. With over 500 color pictures and pictures of whole catalogue pages I have found this book to be the best in my library.Value guides are given in the description paragraph not forcing the reader to turn to a back page and search for a corresponding plate number, which I personally find annoying.I would highly recommend this book to any collector of 50' dolls.
Customer Reviews:
Another Great Book By Judith Izen!.......2004-01-14
The Collector's Guide to Ideal Dolls ID & Values 2nd ED by Judith Izen is another great book by this author. I have been looking for information on a Miss Revlon doll for years and I opened the box and right on the cover is the information I have been looking for. I am thrilled! Any doll collector or lover would love this book. Thanks Judy for another great job! Very fast shipping and a signed copy, it doesn't get any better than this!
Excellent Ideal on Dolls.......2002-11-03
Enjoyed this book and also the prompt manner in which it was delivered to me by userbro128. It was a used book and let me tell you it did not look used at all. Highly recommend the seller and the book to any one intrested.
Ideal Book.......2001-07-29
The majority of the pages in this 350-page book are loaded with color photos and information on the Ideal dolls manufactured from 1907 up through the 1980s. Most dolls are pictured in their original outfits and some photos are packages of the original outfits. Also included are photos of ads for specific dolls. The book starts with a short history of the Ideal Toy Co., while the back of the book gives more information on issue dates, characteristics, and current prices.
This book is a must have for those doll collectors that want to restore a doll to original condition.
A must have for doll collectors and dealers.......2001-03-25
Fabulous color pictures of all the dolls in the book- tons of dolls you will recognize and some you won't. Also features the manufacture marks you will find on dolls to identify them. Most of the dolls are shown in original outfits- some with original packaging and a small percentage are shown redressed. Complete with price guide.
Fabulous & Fascinating.......2000-04-25
I truly recommend this book, not merely for finding out your Ideal doll's monetary value, but more as a walk down memory lane. Being 56 years old, I remember growing up with many of Ideal's dolls. I especially enjoyed the brief mention of the Snuggles' doll and rocking horse(which many books on dolls leave out). So, if you are tired of reading dribble..., then snuggle up with this pictorial walk down memory lane.

The Little History of the Teddy Bear
ASIN: 0525469257 |
Book Description
One hundred years ago, Teddy Roosevelt refused to shoot a helpless bear. A toy maker in Brooklyn honored the noble act by creating a plush, stuffed toy with movable arms and legs and a bright, bearish face. The teddy bear was born. A century later this bear has inspired beloved stories, a hit song, and numerous silly, sad, and loving poems, many of which are gathered here in a big, full-color treasury. The collection includes a chapter each from Winnie-the-Pooh and A Bear Called Paddington; the full text of Corduroy; poems by Shel Silverstein, Judith Viorst, A. A. Milne, and others; a song; and a lively illustrated history of the world's favorite toy.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful for the teddy bear enthusaist!!!.......2003-06-30
This was a great book. It tells you everything from the history of teddy bears to little bear legends. I love teddy bears and found this book very interesting. My only complaint was that it was a tad short. If you love teddy bears then you'll love this book. It's great for any age to enjoy!
what a pleasure.......2003-01-04
This book is a great read-aloud. My son was drawn to his "favorite" bears like Pooh and Paddington, then was happy to stick around and learn about actual, unusual teddy bears. We loved the story about the one on the Titanic.
Great for all ages........2002-12-20
This is a beautifully written and illustated book. Wonderful to read to toddlers and younger children and a treat for older children (of all ages). The Teddy Roosevelt story is worth the whole book.

Book Description
At its height British toymaking was a significant industry, with famous names such as Britains and Meccano known throughout the world. While in essence a specialised form of small-scale engineering, its products and market have always been unique, reflecting the current priorities of both parents and children. Yet, while individual toys and marques have been catalogued extensively, no previous history of toymaking as a whole exists. The British Toy Business provides a fascinating example of the development of a specific industry. Many early early toys were home-made. From the eighteenth century, with its growing recognition of children as something other than small adults, date the beginnings of specialised toys, usually produced by small workshops and sold by street-sellers. The nineteenth century, with its industrial growth and middle-class prosperity, saw an expansion of toymaking. The 1960s and 1970s were the most successful years of British toymaking, with companies like Lesney making record profits. Yet British toy makers failed to solve a number of fundamental problems. Following an unexpected sudden downturn in sales at a time of high interest rates, the major names in British toy making, Lesney, Airfix, Mettoy and Dunbee Combex Marx, all collapsed between 1979 and 1985, leaving the business to be dominated largely by importers.
