Book Description
Paula Pryke is one of the leading floral designers in the world today and is an inspiration not only to do-it-yourselfers but to professionals in the floral and interior design. This book profiles more than 80 projects, which are divided into two distinctive styles-classic and contemporary. The first chapter features arrangements that have stood the test of time and have become classics in their own rights; the next section features those that are on the cutting edge. For each arrangement, Paula takes the readers on a very personal journey through her color and design choices that make each project one-of-a-kind.
This career-spanning catalogue of Paula's unique approach to flower arranging illustrates how her style has evolved, and shows how flowers are the finishing touch to any room or table setting. Combined with comprehensive information on techniques, step-by-step instructions and photographs, this is a practical guide to floral arrangements for the novice as well as an inspiration to the more accomplished florist. With this book, anyone can create memorable floral compositions that add color and style to any room.

Another good reason to visit your local florist..........2007-08-30
Paula, what a wonderful book! I have it on hand in my store for customers to peruse though. I would recommend this book to all who appreciate flowers, and the art of floristry.

This book is a huge hit !! .......2007-05-06
I sent this to a florist friend as a gift !! It is a huge hit. They love the photos and are recreating many of the arrangements. I highly recommend this book for flower lovers and florists alike.
A good book for the lover of flower arrangement.......2007-01-10
This book is a good tool for anyone interested in learning how to arrange flowers. It has beautiful pictures and good explanations on mechanics and how to do most of the arrangements, however, the most difficult and therefore prettier do not have much instructions, so you also need to use a little imagination.
The Complete Book of Floral Design.......2006-02-22
This is a great book for visual pictures of different arrangements and ideas you may want to put together!! Lots of pretty pictures!
beautiful book.......2005-09-30
I love the book, and there is some great advice in it but I was looking for abit more of a "how-to" type of book. The book is mostly photos of her work with a black and white section of some instructional aspects of making bouquets, etc. There is also a small encyclopedia-like section of flowers which explains some aspects to the flowers but does not include general price range. I was hoping it would be the only book I needed to buy to do my wedding flowers, but I don't think it will be.

For every bride (and her mother), The Knot Book of Wedding Flowers provides an invaluable and inspirational guide for planning a perfect storybook event--be it a private family affair or an all-out bash in a hotel ballroom. Author Carley Roney, editor-in-chief of The Knot online wedding planning site, which has branched out to offer this and other books (like The Knot's Complete Guide to Weddings in the Real World), provides extensive information, friendly advice, and helpful tips for brides of every budget. Special features of the book include beautifully illustrated glossaries of a wide variety of common wedding flowers as well as surveys of the various shapes and styles of bouquets, centerpieces, guest favors, and boutonnieres. How-to sections help the bride decide on her floral style and palette--deep red or purple flowers are popular modern choices, and of course all-white weddings remain perennially popular. Do-it-yourself instructions, clearly illustrated, help brides create their own flower decorations. And even brides with very deep pockets will appreciate the guide to choosing a florist, as well as the timeline planner and sample worksheets at the back of the book. Throughout, 150 glorious color photos seem practically fragrant. --Judy Fireman

Informative on a basic level for brides-to-be.......2007-03-30
The first part of the book provides a list of favoured wedding flowers (with photos), and it gives a basic summary on their characteristics, seasonal availability and cost. The second part of the book contains a few DIY tips (not a lot) and a small gallery of centerpiece/bouquet designs, grouped by colors and themes.
The information in this book can be helpful for brides-to-be who are unfamiliar with the names of flowers, or what certain flowers look like. I personally think that the design examples are quite simple and unintimidating (ie. not flashy or over the top), and thus this book will be useful for brides who are looking for inspirations along those lines.
I recommend this book as a preliminary reference and it's a good start before meeting with your florist to discuss wedding flowers.
Not too exciting.......2007-03-07
I didn't find this book very exciting. I looked through it and there's really nothing in it that I can use. I was looking for ideas for my wedding bouquet and I really got NONE.
OK--but not the best.......2007-02-25
If you are looking for some floral tips and arrangement ideas, this book will help you with those ideas. However, if you are looking for an instructional book on how to make arrangements yourself, this book doesn't give enough information on this. (Yes, there is a small section in the book about making them yourself--but does not tell you how to make certain ones shown in the book). I would like a more informational--how-to-make boquet book. I might just have to write one myself!
The knot book of wedding flowers.......2007-01-20
I bought the book used, but it looked brand new. I was pleased.
Great basic guide for brides!.......2007-01-16
I found this book useful in that it was simple, straight forward guide to the most common flowers used in weddings. The first half is essentially a glossary of flowers. It provides basic information that made it easy to compare flowers: photo, meaning, colors available, when in season, and price range. The book also provides information on bouquet styles, color schemes, and flower arrangments, but I found the single flower photos most educational.
This book enabled me to have an intelligent conversation with my florist and narrow down which flowers I wanted for my wedding. I even took it along with me to discuss specific flowers with my florist.
I plan to lend it to all my friends for their wedding planning!
Book Description
With the help of this exquisite and instruction-filled guide, anyone can create gorgeous wedding arrangements with ease. It covers all the important points any designer must take into consideration: how to coordinate the flowers with the overall theme of the ceremony; where the arrangements will be needed, from personal boutonnieres to centerpieces at the reception; and how to work with a florist to get the blooms. Floral basics and how-tos range from important facts on color and composition to suggestions on bouquet shapes and their relation to the dresses. Most important are the various projects to duplicate exactly or use as a springboard, from lovely monochromatic themes to seasonal styles.

The New Book of Wedding Flowers : Simple & Stylish Arrangements for the Creative Bride.......2005-09-30
The book has beautiful pictures and wonderful ideas. I wish it would identify all flowers and amounts used in the boquets.
I thought it might be more of an instructional book. It is a good reference.

Tradition.......2007-02-20
I loved this book for it's absolute tradition. This will show people tradition is still very much alive and kicking. Very handy tip's easy to use and doing the arrangements looks easy and won't put you off.
Complete Book of Wedding Flowers:Stunning Flower Arranging.........2003-02-13
I found that this book was not detailed enough for beginners in terms of creating the arrangements. It focused more on the wedding day rather than the actual flower arrangements. I was looking for more of a step-by-step guide for arranging wedding flowers.
Great book with lots of ideas.......2002-03-01
This is a cute book with lots of ideas. Doesn't have a lot of "how-to's", but does have some. Great pictures. I use this as a book for "brides-to-be". Someone always chooses something from this book.
It's the little details.......2001-08-31
I enjoyed this book because of the ideas it presented for the little details ... suggestions for floral arrangements that were dramatic, beautiful, and unique. It gave examples of floral arrangements for everything from baptismal fonts to tents. I was inspired to think beyond the standard altar pieces and table decorations.
While many of the actual examples were a little heavy for my taste, I found them to really demonstrate how powerful flowers and greenery - beyond the white roses and baby's breath - can be, and how carefully chosen floral arrangements can compliment any decor and create ambiance. I recommend that anyone needing to choose flowers for a wedding - or really, any occasion - at least take a look at this book for inspiration, even if one isn't going to actually arrange one's own flowers.
Great source of experienced advice and aesthetic inspiration.......2000-08-02
I am thoroughly enjoying Shirley Monckton's book, which I happily discovered on returning from an "early honeymoon" in England, in which my fiance and I explored wonderful Gothic cathedrals and appealing parish churches. Yes, Ms. Monckton is writing for an English audience and her lovely decorations are suited more for the churches and manor houses in her country, but she has a great sense of design and lots of detailed advice for the rest of us, too. Being "florally-challenged," I greatly appreciate Ms. Monckton's experienced guidance on things I would never have considered, such as determining what the rules are in decorating a particular church or hall and who enforces them, how to keep a vertical arrangement from looking like a Christmas tree, how to prevent plastic in a basket arrangement from reflecting sunlight or camera flashes in your wedding pictures, and how long to condition flowers before arranging them (two hours to overnight . . . not the two minutes I would've allowed). Shirley emphasizes planning ahead and informs the reader which things can and cannot be completed until the Big Day. She kindly nudges the bride to delegate the last-minute work to the florist or talented friends/family members. Of the three wedding flower books I've read in recent weeks, Shirley Monckton's is definitely the best.

A great book to add to your floral crafting collection.......2002-04-04
This is another wonderful floral craft publication from Leisure Arts. To avoid repetitition I invite you to view my reviews of "How to Arrange Dried Florals If You Think You Can't" and "How to Do Wreaths If You Think You Can't" as both of these books follow the same format as this one. The only reason I have not rated this book as well as the others is that I prefer the finished look that only high quality "silks" can achieve and not all projects in this book achieve this look. Still, there are nearly 90 projects for your review and the vast majority of them deserve credit.

Tacky and Sloppy.......2006-09-22
Just bought this book because of the previous reviews. What a mistake. I've been doing highend weddings for 15 years and this stuff is sloppy and tacky. Lot's of photos but I think I counted 5 that I wouldn't be ashamed of.
More bridal bouquet photos than any other book..........2006-06-10
As a special event florist specializing in wedding design, I own nearly 40 floral and floral design books that I use as reference (for myself and my clients) for my business, and in my opinion, this book is the best bridal bouquet photo book in existance today. It's not a step-by-step, "how to" book so readers won't see any instructions for how to re-create the designs in the book. However, what they will see is a large book that showcases a HUGE volume of photos of diversely-styled bouquets designed by many different floral designers (some well known and some up-and-coming) from across the US.
While many of the recently published books contain designs by only the book's author, and often many of the pages in those books contain a lot of text and filler photos (with perhaps only 1 photo per page), this book contains multiple photos on the majority of pages. Overall (and I counted) throughout the book's 176 pages, there are 351 large and small photos of bouquets and 71 photos of bouts, corsages, hair flowers, etc. (that doesn't even cover the 9 photos on the back and front cover). The book also contains wedding resources pages and an introduction/foreward from the President of the Association for Wedding Professionals International.
One of the handiest features is that the book is organized by bouquet colors and feeling (such as Traditional, Fresh, Vibrant, Stately, Feminine, etc), and that has been extremely helpful as well as a time saver for my wedding/bridal clients. Although the book's cover photo isn't the most eye-catching and the book's publisher isn't one of the powerhouse publishers that gets a lot of promotion or hype in the big bridal magazines, don't let either of those things fool you about what's inside of this book. There are more bouquet photos in this book than any other I've ever seen, the photography is nice, and the book's paper is weighty and high quality so it makes a great reference book. I highly recommend this to both brides and fellow florists who are looking for a a wide variety of bouquet colors and styles in one, comprehensive photo reference book.
Now THIS is the book I've been waiting for........2005-03-17
A really great book to get ideas for your bridal bouquet. I looked for something like this for my own wedding, but the only books available showed a couple dozen different bouquets or were how-to's (NOT for me!). This book shows hundreds and hundreds of different bouquets. You will absolutely find the bouquet style you want in this book. Dividing it by color was the best choice since that is how brides choose flowers - at least I did. I bought it to help my sister choose her bouquet and that of her attendants, but now the hard part is choosing from so many really beautiful pictures. Really fun to see this many bouquets in one book.

In a nutshell...........2006-08-17
This cd was very easy to navigate. It required no lengthy installation onto my computer. JUST READ THE DESCRIPTION AND MAKE SURE THAT YOUR COMPUTER IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE CD!!!!! I checked out this sellers negative feedback before I purchased and all of it was because the customer was too ignorant to simply read the description and make sure that their computer was compatible before buying the CD.
As for the content, I can't even imagine how much money I would have spent on magazines trying to put together all of these images and ideas while I am deciding on decorations and other details for my wedding. The CD is well worth your money. With bridal magazines costing on average of $9, this CD pays for itself in the money it will save you.
I recommend it for any bride.

Customer Reviews:
Fuzzy Flowers.......2001-07-27
The title of this book should be "Fuzzy Flowers". I have never been so disappointed in receiving a flower arranging book!
Most of the color photographs of arrangements are taken in some kind of 'fog'. If this is done for some kind of artistic reason, one or two would be okay but to show almost every arrangement as though in a cloud of dust or out of focus is just unecessary. The arrangements themselves seem to be quite good if one could only discern their placement and color of flowers.
From a technical point of view, the text is useful and covers all one would need to know as a flower arranger.
I would not recommend this book to my friends and will give this one to my Garden Club.
Good reference.......2000-03-22
Malcolm Hiller's book is an excellent resource for floral design. The pictures are great! There are flower and foliage guides by season which are very helpful when selecting flowers for big events. Mr. Hiller's arrangements are also very different and inspiring.
