Excellent service, I received the goods in first class condition in a very quick timescale considering that I am in the uk. Thanks. Great service
Easier to understand.......2007-08-28
I love how the maps, character profiles and commentary with suggestions for a mindset adjustment or application in real life really bring the Word of God alive!
Heavy, but every ounce is worth carrying around........2007-08-03
Although this Bible is not made for hardcore word-for-word study (the NIV in itself is more of a dynamic equivalence translation anyways), all the helpful commentaries and tools inside are generally fresh, practical, and accessible to any Christian. Anyone who can use a personal guide through even the most obscure passages in Scriptures will be able to appreciate everything this Bible has to offer.
Life Application Study Bible.......2007-07-17
This Bible was purchased for a college class on Biblical literature. The footnotes and other helpful interpretations have been invaluable. I would recommend this for anyone needing further understanding of history, culture or places in the Bible.

Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
In his most provocative and caustically funny book yet, Greg Palast, author of the national bestseller The Best Democracy Money Can Buy, once again gives us the straight scoop on the stories that Big Media won't report. Digging up reams of documents marked "secret" and "confidential," Palast provides the latest lowdown on Bush's secret plans to seize Iraq's oil, the fix planned for the 2008 election, who drowned New Orleans, and the horror and the humor of the War on Terror. With diligent detective work, moral outrage, and a keen sense of the absurd, Palast takes on the "armed and dangerous clowns that rule us" as only he can.
Customer Reviews:
Read the book, avoid the audio version.......2007-10-10
The material presented seems to be meticulously researched, and clearly and systematically presented. The problem is -on the audio CD edition- the sarcasm with which the lines are spoken. The sneering, cloying sarcasm is so intense, so pervasive, and so grating that it detracts from the narrative. Is it really necessary to emulate Anne Coulter's style?
The truth exponentially!.......2007-10-05
Greg Palast is the modern day Thomas Paine. Believe me when I say that that is not an overstatement at all. This is the book that got a man tazed by his vociferous opining over one single chapter - in fact, the very chapter that is what makes this book so important to understanding the hijacking of an entire country and its Constitution by the Bush crime machine.
The very fact that Palast has to go to another country to speak his truh tells you that we are in big toruble of losing the fourth estate altogether if we don't pay attention and do something about it.
I heard Palast on progressive radio and started my quest for the facts by reading his online pieces and then buying this book. I only wish more Americans had listened much earlier and perhaps we could have avoided the fiasco that began with the hanging chad fiasco of 2001 when the Supreme Court appointed King George that began the decent into constitutional chaos and the monumental abyss of lies, torture, rendering, the attack on human rights in our country and more.
I am so glad there is a Greg Palast. Just as glad as Bush cronies hate everything this man represents. Armed Madhouse is a welcome addition to my reference library and historic archives. Read and become enlightened!
Hostile Takeover.......2007-10-04
Greg Palast's Armed Madhouse documents the thesis of CW Mills' seminal 1956 book The Power Elite - that US politics is just a facade: A facade for a hostile corporate takeover of both governments and nations. Palast asserts and documents that the "war on terror" was conceived as an attempt to destroy OPEC, further impoverish the US middle class, and reap windfall corporate profits from rebuilding Iraq, whose "no-bid", cash cow rebuilding Palast calls "the biggest reconstruction project since the pyramids" [page 277]. Palast humorously remarks in passing that "Operation Iraqi Freedom" was originally dubbed Operation Iraqi Liberation ("O.I.L.") by White House spokesman Ari Fleischer.
"Conspiracy nuts think George Bush, from the moment he took office, had a secret plan to control Iraq's oil. They're wrong. Bush had two plans. Here they are: One crafted by the neoconservatives at the Pentagon, another fashioned by the State Department and Big Oil. This is the history of the secret cold war between these two power elites, which drives the hot war on the Tigris" [page 51].
"[This book] is about how they are taking these American rights away, stripping them off you one by one, from the Wage and Hour Law's 40-hour week to the Clayton Antitrust Law to the False Claims Act to the laws that keep your lights on and your pensions protected. Many are laws that you've probably never heard of, like the Public Utility Holding Company Act. But, take my word for it, you'll miss them when they're gone" [page 284].
Outstanding book.
Highly Informative, Disturbingly Insightful.......2007-10-01
Palast uncovers advanced economic plots to make the rich richer and the poor their servants. First he discusses the oil economy as it relates to big businesses and the political systems of those countries in power. Although there are those who completely dispel Palast's notion that oil is in seemingly infinite supply (and I don't mean right-wingers, either... do a google), I don't think if Palast is wrong on this count that it destroys his theories on how the oil industry operates and prospers. Other keep-the-rich rich schemes include the stealing of elections, something I've already studied and yet, was completely horrified to learn further extent to this phenomenon. Other notable topics include China, our lack-luster education system, and how the working class is held down. Well worth the listen, but have your brain turned on and focused. You can't be day dreaming and get what the author is saying because there are a lot of details given and he talks rather quickly.
Why Isn't Congress Reading This Book?.......2007-09-23
This book should be a mandatory assignment to be read by every member of congress. It's all about lies and the real reason for this war. Controll of oil prices.
Book Description
The phenomenon loosely termed "Bali style" has been the subject matter for countless books on art, architecture, and interior design. In this book, author and architect Gianni Francione showcases the new generation of Bali-style homes, interiors, and artifacts that utilize what he terms a new internationalism.
Even though the timeless, distinctive Balinese balé, open to a panorama of rice fields and the evening breeze, is still there, it may now be made in marble or stone. Similarly, present-day villas, resort bungalows, shops, restaurants, and other buildings are just as likely to use modernist techniques and materials as they are to utilize alang-alang and coconut wood.
Bali Houses presents this new departure in architecture, interior design, glassware, table settings, textiles, furniture, and furnishings in many never-before-photographed locations. It is a fitting sequel to Bali Modern.
Customer Reviews:
This is Bali condensed in a Book........2007-03-28
A beautiful book well balanced in terms of text and pictures. The quality of the pictures is second to none. Compared to other books about Balinese style mostly focused on interiors, this one captures not only the essence of the interiors but also open spaces and gardens.
Sphisticated and Balanced.......2007-02-22
Great photography and awesome scenarios. It really brings the feeling of being in Bali. And the decorations show the artistic side of the new interiors of the open living. It inspires my clients when they come inside my furniture store. Of the books I have from Bali, this is certainly the one with the best pictures!
Bali Houses Design.......2006-11-05
Being a Decorator, this comes in handy for clients who like the look of the Tropics. It's a complete book of ideas, design strategies, and an overall look into another world of comfortable, colorful, Paradise influence to bring a little joy to the reader.
Balinese houses - paradise........2006-01-04
This is a genuinely fine book. The photographs are spectacular, with fine color and resolution.
The text isn't too in-depth about houses in Bali, but the pictures speak for themselves.
I wholeheartedly recommend it, got me?
bali houses.......2005-07-20
Good overall but not as informative as Bali Modern another book by same author. PHotography excellent.
Book Description
Southeast Asia and Oceania are global epicenters of economic growth, and Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines in particular have each enjoyed building booms that include modern houses designed by some of the world's most talented architects. And though these countries feature rich variations in culture, language, and in some cases climate, their contemporary residential architectures share many similar characteristics. Sometimes these are crisp residential designs rendered in the most modern forms, while in other cases architects draw on local cultural or vernacular building materials, such as stone or wood, to create houses that, while still undeniably modern, are very much of their place. But the most ambitious and innovative of these projects all maintain a strong design sensibility that transcends geographic borders. Pacific Modern is a spectacularly illustrated tour of the most exciting examples of residential architecture in these regions. Among the architects whose work is presented are Glenn Murcutt, Sean Godsell, Burley Katon Halliday, Engelen Moore, Kerry Hill, and Fearon Hay.
Customer Reviews:
Pacific Modern.......2007-03-09
It is a great collection of modern architecture, it is wonderful to see such examples throught the world. Since I know the author personally, I love to see how his second book is even better than the first.
Great Inspirations.......2007-02-07
We purchased this book as a reference for clients building new homes. We are based in Australia and have seen these photos before...our clients hadn't so it was still very useful. Clear and with floorplans shows how space and light work well.

"Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching.".......2007-06-03
"Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to preaching and to teaching." I Ti 4:13
The Bible is so much more accessible for reading in its entirety than many people realize, and this One Year Bible NIV format is one of the best I have seen yet for reading through the Bible in a year. I have the 1986 version, which I received almost three years ago as a gift at the church we attend.
Having read through the King James Version (KJV) last year, following the B.R.E.A.D. (Bible Reading Enriches Any Day) schedule, I decided to do something different this year, so I am reading through the New International Version (NIV), using the One Year Bible NIV. Each day's reading is arranged together under that date, which serves as a kind of chapter heading, and includes selections from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. It is amazing to me how well the different selections complement one another.
Compared with the B.R.E.A.D. schedule and other similar programs I have followed in the past, it is much easier to stay on track and not get behind with this format. When I have gotten behind, it has been much easier to get caught up again. This Bible is not very useful, however, for in-depth study (no notes or cross references) or for looking up scriptural references.
I plan to continue to read through the Bible at least once each year, probably following a different translation each year for a while. So far this year, the One Year Bible NIV is working out very well. As the scripture verse I included above suggests, this format would also lend itself very well to the public reading of scripture, if any individual, group or church were so inclined.
Through the Bible.......2007-05-19
I have had a couple of these Bibles (the first one was paperback and eventually wore out from use). Now, I purchase these Bibles for our church for our "Through the Bible" study group where we discuss the daily readings through an online forum on our church's web site. The authors and publisher have done a good job of dividing the Bible into daily readings and presenting them in an easy-to-read manner. This is a great method for daily devotions in God's Word.
The One Year Bible.......2007-04-19
This is a great format for people who want to read through the bible in one year. It is organized in such a way that getting through the bible is less daunting than one might think. It is especially good for those who are new to reading the bible.
Got me through it!.......2007-03-27
Reading the entire Bible had been on my personal to do list for a long time. I was always ambitious in the beginning but by the time I reached Leviticus, I'd lose steam.
I was never able to finish the task until I picked up The One Year Bible. One year later, I can say with joy (and a bit of pride) that this Bible really made it possible to finish the whole Bible.
Each day will have about 2-3 chapters from the OT, almost 1 chapter from the NT, a Psalm and a few verses from Proverbs. A day's reading takes about 15-20 minutes.
The Bible is marked with days of the year (month and day) rather than Day 1, Day 2, etc. This means that if you skip a day or two, there will be no confusion regarding how much reading you need to do to catch up. Just read until you finish today's section. [Warning: Trying to read three or four day's sections will easily become an hour or reading.]
Don't bother waiting for January 1 to roll around. Just start in the middle of the year.
My only whine is that if you ever go to a retreat, you'll have to take two Bibles with you - this one, and a regular Bible. With the way the books and chapters are rearranged, it is highly impractical for any use outside of its daily reading function.
The One Year Bible.......2006-09-17
My husband and I each have a copy of this Bible. We just love it! It makes the Bible fun to read and you get such a feeling of accomplishment from keeping up-to-date.
The Bible can be hard to wade through. This makes it pleasant and we are learning so much! What a good guide to life God has given us!

Too small print .......2007-08-31
Too small print for usual Bible reader and it wasn't advertised as the compact copy when we ordered it from the page we ordered it from. Had to send it back. We did finally get one that we like very much. The one that has notes by F. Lagard Smith and we are very happy with that. Thanks for your opportunity to express our thoughts. Tom Thomas
The One Year Bible: New international Version.......2007-08-05
I was very disapppointed in the size of the book and especially the size of the print. It will be quite difficult for me to read and will make reading it much less enjoyable. I wise it had been in the discription of the book when it was presentedl
Great Resource.......2007-06-27
I've been too intimidated to read the bible in the past, but this book is helping me tackle a seemingly difficult task.
extremely helpful!.......2007-01-19
I have been very pleased with the one year Bible. It is an easy version to understand and it has really helped me get back into reading the Bible on a daily basis. The only negative is the small print and I couldn't find this Bible in leather, only in paper/hardback. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good Bible reading plan to stay on track.
Great for Consistent Daily Devotions.......2006-12-24
The Hardcover NIV version is awesome. Make sure you avoid the compact version for $12 something. The print is too small. And the paperback cannot withstand the grind of daily reading.
I am a pastor and have read the Bible voluminously for over 25 years. This One Year Bible is the best. It is formatted to be read by the Day. The mixture between an OT, NT, Psalms, & Prov. reading keeps it interesting every day. It is never dull. I have seen many daily Bible reading plans, but I have never been able to follow them because I get sidetracked or I lose the sheet which has the plan, or I don't have it with me when I am reading. the fact that this Bible is actually formatted in the reading plan makes it much easier to commit to and follow. I can carry the book with me sometimes and read it.
I love the book so much that I have sold at least 100 copies (nominal) to members at my church so that we can all read consistently and together.
It only takes 10-15 min. max per day to read, so, of course, I read quite a bit of other scriptures. But is an excellent discipline which forces you to read the Word in season and out of season. The people in our churches truly need a consistent dose of the WOrd. This provides it. I have had our people to read many Christian books such as Rick Warren, and on and on. But nothing beats getting people to really get into the Word and enjoy it.

Excellent portable bible, super high quality.......2006-07-31
This is a great portable bible if you want a high-quality, easy to carry edition. The NIV is not my favorite translation (I prefer RSV Catholic Edition including the Deuterocanonicals) or the NASB for a protestant translation (both are literal word-for-word translations). However, this is a nice bible and the NIV is a good balance of easy to read vs. accuracy.
The only one warning I have is that the text on these editions are VERY small in order to accomodate the size of the bible itself. This is fine for quick readings on the go, at work, at a bible study, etc. However, if you are planning to sit and read for hours, I suggest looking at a larger edition. This one is specifically geared to be easily portable with very little size or weight.
5 Stars, high quality, absolutely great value for this money. Hard to believe when you see it! Also not mentioned on this specific model is that the flap you see in the picture has a nice, easy to use magnetic closure. Super nice.

Customer Reviews:
book was not as promised.......2007-01-10
The lady I purchased this book from said she would send me a brand new one. This one had been used but she sold it as no underlining in it. That wasn't the case.. I am disappointed in this seller as she said she would send me a new book pronto then didn't follow through at all.. I think this just might have been a fly by night place to get this book.. Who knows They just didn't follow through with what they told me they were going to do.They asked me to write an initial great review for them so I did. I should have waited till they came through with what they had promised.. My fault.. I trusted these people.. Oh well....
Book Description
The bestselling author of Philistines at the Hedgerow probes the supersecret world of Manhattan luxury apartments where real estate costs the most and matters even more. Steven Gaines once again trains his sharp eye on rich people behaving badly. This time, the arena is Manhattan luxury real estate and the outlandish displays of ego, outrageous behavior, blood feuds, status hunger, and conspicuous consumption that dominate that world.
