Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Great.......2007-01-15
I bought this for my son who loves drawing and he really has enjoyed it. The illustrations are great and theres good information along with the illustartions.
Tribal ID Helps.......2006-11-03
As a descendant of the Native American Choctaw tribe, I was VERY pleased with this book. The illustrations are clear and precisely drawn. The reader receives a lot of inspiration for Native American art and designs. However, of far more value to the reader, the author identifies the designs with various tribes. Naturally, I was particularly pleased to find the highly modernistic looking designs of the Choctaws. I strongly recommend this book to any students of Native Americans or students of art.

EXTEMELY VALUABLE AND USEFUL SOURCE BOOK.......2006-08-06
I purchased this one some time ago and do not have one regret. I have it in almost constant use. The graphics are wonderful, easy to use and well identified as to tribal origins. I use this publications and it's designs primarily for my gourd art, i.e. carving and burning and drawing. The designs are printed on one side and I have found that by making a copy of the page I can then enlarge or reduce the designed I need. There are approximately 391 different designs here and I have check several of them out and not found one that was not authentic. The designs cover quite a bit of area, from the Pacific Northwest and Artic to Estern Woodland to the Great Pland and Rockies to the Southwest and Mexico. Each design is quite crisp and quite accurate. Cannot recommend this one highly enough.
North American Indian Motifs.......2005-09-21
I have just started to do gourd pyrography and wanted a source of authentic Indian designs to use as paterns. This book contains 391 designs which are outstanding. Most designs also includes the name of the Indian nation which used and/or originated the design. The designs are also "permission-free" which means I don't have to worry about copyright violations if I sell my gourds. An excellent book.
Absolutely fantastic!.......2005-02-16
This book is chocked full of Native American motifs and designs from many nations! Each graphic is titled by tribe, even branches of Tribes (eg: Dakota Sioux) and the book is broken down into sections of geographic areas, eg: Pacific Northwest, Great Plains, Southwest, etc. Very well put together, this was an excellent resource and the best N.A. Tribal design book I've found!

Indespensable.......2006-02-19
Quite frankly I think every student of Yoruba culture should own this book. While Gelede is the central object of study, the books touches on multiple aspects Yoruba and Orisa spirituality. The amount of information is so overwhelming that you will literally have to read it over and over again.
A very good book.......2000-12-06
I do recommend this nice book to all those engaged in the practice of the Yoruba cult. The author gives a good persp- ective of what is behind the cerimony. Mo juba Iyami Osoronga!
Worth reading for student & practitioners of Yoruba religion.......1998-06-22
This is a fairly good book on the subject of Yoruba masks and drumming. Contains good pictures of masks (Gelede) and is very informative with regards to ceremonies performed at the Gelede.
Is recommended reading for any of the followers of the Yoruba religion and to students as well.
I would have liked to have seen a more in depth review of the ceremonies and religious aspects of the Gelede, therefore I have not rated it a 5 Star.
Nonetheless, I would still read it all over again !

Classroom Saver.......2006-11-06
I have this book available in my middle school classroom and the students love it. It is a favorite book among my students and it is always being used during free times: silent reading or those students who finish early. The artwork of Bev Doolittle is very beautiful, eye-cathing, and inspiring.
The Forest Has Eyes.......2005-10-10
Very interesting book. The art work is spectacular and the text just amplifies the presentation. This book lead me to purchase all five of Ms. Doolittle's books.
once again great!.......2002-11-20
Bev Doolittle books are a tremendous way to introduce kids to nature and all the wonderful things we share with animals, respect for all living things on earth and wildlife to be cherished.....
The Forest Has Eyes is a wonderful story........1999-04-09
This book is a wonderful experience in the moment of reading. But more importantly for me, it begins to help both children and adults learn how to "see" differently. That makes it a great introduction to the appreciation of art for children. In addition, the subject of the story is very enriching and helps to develop a connection to nature. No small feat in todays technological/video environment.
EXCELLENT: DOOLITTLE'S work is displayed Beautifully.......1998-09-16
This book gives you a collection of Doolittle's work that makes a GREAT conversation piece. It shows her work and displays a story with each piece. A must have for all lovers of Bev's work

Perfect........2006-05-13
Beautiful in every way. Outstanding and much appreciated photos. Wonderful commentary. Authentic recipes.
The author should be very proud of this fine accomplishment and this book should be in every public library. In fact, I may send a copy to a politician to remind him that we all immigrated here from someone else- except the Native Americans. They should be the only ones who have the right to decide our immigration policy.
Indians Nations Foods is Outstanding.......2005-06-13
This book is practical and beautiful and takes a totally modern approach to historic cooking. One of the finest cookbooks ever published and one of the most beautifully printed books ever done. It is no wonder it got a James Beard award. It is a treasure to own and is a delgihtful gift. I live in the Southwest, I am a cook, and I love this book.
Fantastic!.......2003-10-12
From the beautiful cover to the very last page, the vibrant and enticing photographs lure you into cooking each and every delicious recipe. Lois Ellen Frank has made a current masterpiece of an ancient tradition native to our continent. This is truly a fantastic cookbook.
Beautiful Photographs and Fabulous Recipes!.......2003-10-03
I ordered 150 of these magnificent cookbooks for a large group of corporate meeting attendees and everyone loved them! I have never received more compliments on a meeting attendee gift. Ms. Frank does an incredible job of enlightening her readers on the cultures and culinary expertise of Native Americans. The photographs are so remarkable that you feel her dish sitting right in front of you. Not only did our group receive this most extraordinary cookbook, but Lois Ellen Frank and Walter Whitewater came to our event in Santa Fe and personalized every single cookbook for all 150 people! Ms. Frank was gracious enough to give personal attention to every individual and share stories of the successes of her cookbook. I could never have asked for a more successful event, thanks to the magnificent work of a culinary genius! Thank you Lois!

Native American Architecture
ASIN: 0195097408 |
Amazon.com
Contemporary Native American Architecture is an essential reference for architects concerned with the complex cultural and aesthetic issues involved in creating new buildings for Native American populations. Carol Herselle Krinsky, author of Synagogues of Europe, drove more than 13,000 miles in the contiguous 48 states to see and document new meeting lodges, casinos, healing centers, homes, and museums. She writes with infectious passion about large themes: how cultures determine the forms of their monuments, how a minority chooses to present itself within majority culture, how new spaces can be endowed with meanings inherent in traditional structures. Of fairly modest house plans approved by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, she writes, "To be sure, the buildings discussed here do not intend to be traditional. They are evocative responses to cultural evaporation, pouring at least a few old resources into new vessels. They reinforce a sense of identity. And if they can help to build or rebuild Native nations, the best examples will have fulfilled an essential mission."
This book's design is workmanlike, with only black-and-white photographs, but its detailed contents will be pored over long after most coffee-table books have lost their luster.
Book Description
Why, during the past thirty years, has there been a dramatic change in architecture by and for American Indians? How does it reflect the revival of language and the renewal and invention of dance, music, and other performance, and the remarkable burst of creativity in Native American novels and poetry? And since architecture requires technical expertise and money, how does this change reflect alterations in the economic, legal, and political situation of American Indians in the past decades? At no other time since the European invasions have the Native nations been as determined to set their own agendas for building or been as successful in reaching their architectural goals. They now claim authority in planning what they need for modern life--office buildings, schools, clinics, religious and community structures, urban cultural centers, houses, and museums, even commercial buildings and casinos. Those agendas often include strategies for making sure that the buildings are culturally appropriate or focus on collective decisions that embody community values brought from the past to the present. In Contemporary Native American Architecture, Carol Herselle Krinsky examines the historical and legal background of this movement of cultural regeneration through the medium of architecture, and records responses of Native American's to ever-changing cultural situations. While some artistic aspects of the new drive for self-determination are familiar, the architecture is not. That may be because finding and photographing examples--most never before published--required about 13,000 miles of travel on tribal lands and in cities from Connecticut to California. Her travels enabled her to conduct many interviews with people closely connected to the architectural works. Krinsky clearly describes many examples of invention on the basis of tradition--the creation of architecture as a form of "medicine" or cultural healing--and addresses issues of authenticity and group renewal in the present age of ethnic consciousness. The building types presented here are not traditional, but the individual examples reflect Native American culture all the same. It is no longer permissible to think of Native Americans as remote from Americans in general. Through education and training, movement back and forth from reservation to city, exposure to film and television, intermarriage, the mobility granted by airplanes and automobiles, and especially the impact of the Federal government, Native Americans can join the mainstream when they wish and withdraw when traditional concerns are more pressing. Lively, informative, and lavishly illustrated, this unique work offers a clear and visually engaging way to understand new cultural movements among Native Americans.

Simple and classic designs in clipart.......2007-10-11
This Dover Clipart Book on Ancient Mexico has the classic small imagery useful for designing in a variety of art media. Refer to these for quick designs, particularly in print making, stamp making, borders, and so much more. This book compliments the Dover Book - Ancient Mexican Designs, which has the more complex imagery taken from ancient wall art and carved stonework. Both provide cultural imagery that inspire.

Interesting Designs.......2001-06-22
Good reference book. Full of designs that can be reproduced. If one is trying to teach a unit on Aztec designs this is the perfect book to get. Students can reproduce the designs and have fun. If the purpose is to create graphics, there are several great designs to choose from.
Valuable resource book.......2001-05-10
This book is a bargain and especially useful for artists working in various mediums that want to include the ancient designs of Mexico. All of the motiffs are authentic and come from extensive research with such collaborators as Mexico's National Museum and it's diretors and associated profesors. Numerous individual contributors, such as artists like Diego Rivera and Miguel Covarrubias have contributed their own personal collections for reproduction. The author, Jorge Enciso, first published this book in 1947 and it has been out of print for quite awhile, that is until Dover Press came out with a paperback edition. The designs are all magnificent reproductions of stamps used in various parts of ancient Mexico. Many of the designs you've probably seen before in artwork where a Mexican motiff is used but there are countless others that are unique and rarely seen. Intricate, geometric designs abound as well as drawings that feature the natural world and the use of animal figures both real and imagined. The decorative patterns are eloborate manifestations of the cultures of pre-Columbian Oaxaca, Veracruz, Azcapotzalco, Yucatan, Puebla and Teotihuacan amongst others. Many of these designs are still used in the arts and crafts that are produced in these areas. There are more designs than any one artist could ever use. These designs are useful as well as springboards for other ideas inspired by the ancient designs. Dover Press has given permission to use up to ten designs for any project without permission so any artist can use them without copyright infringement. A very handy book for people interested in preserving the artistic traditions of Mexico.

Flute Shop: A Guide to Crafting the Native American Style Flute
Flute Shop: A Guide to Crafting the Native American Style Flute.......2007-01-31
This is the first book on NAF (Native American Flute) making that I've purchased after years of building them. I got the book because my flutes are all made of clay and I needed insight into working with wood and basic flute theory in general. The book opened my eyes to some fine tuning tricks I'd missed, and other flute designs and construction options available. Russ does a fine job of explaining basics to the novice and gives complete construction details to increase the chances for a successful project. His resources list in the appendix is useful for anyone seeking further knowledge on the subject. This book is a well written and easy to follow guide--buy it!
