Delightful Story.......2007-09-24
I recently organized my sister's baby shower and the theme was Peas in the Pod. Since we had a few kids coming to the shower we had both adult and kids souveniers. Each child got this wonderful book as a souvenier and all the adults were so happy and impressed. The story is very refreshing and the kids loved it. If your child does not like to eat vegetables then you should get this book.

Book Description
A bad hairday like no other!
In the middle of winter, in a tucked-away town,
Where the snow never seemed to stop coming down,
In a mountain-sized house, the color of sky,
Lived a girl with thick hair that took too long to dry.
So begins this delightfully irreverent tale, written in the tradition of Dr. Seuss. When a spirited little girl named Ruthie Bon Bair refuses to dry her wet hair before bedtime, she is plagued by an unusual host of difficultiesÂplants and flowers and other outrageous items begin to sprout from her scalp! As her condition escalates, Ruthie and friends attempt to control the growing vegetation in her hair, but not without some surprising, and hilarious, results. . . .

Sure to become a favorite!.......2006-11-21
This is an absolutely WONDERFUL book! I always tell my kids that all of our actions have consequences. This fun book written in whimsical rhyme teaches that lesson in a clever way. It might even get your child to listen to whatever it is you may be nagging them about! It is very rare these days to find a book that is truly enjoyable to both kids and adults alike. This is one of those books, sure to be a hit with the kids and one that you won't mind reading to them over and over again! I especially like the surprise ending. It catches the kids off guard and gives them even more to laugh about. I look forward to the next book from this newly discovered, wonderful author! If you haven't read the book, go out and buy it...you won't regret it!
There's nothing worse than a "bad hair" day!.......2006-10-01
I absolutely fell in love with this book. Even as an adult, I found myself relating to the imagery that was brought forth through the rhyming and illustrations. It's written and provides a message in such a way that both children and adults will find themselves identifying and chuckling throughout. What a talented author!

Gets Your Kids Moving!.......2006-11-15
"Get Moving With Grover" is packed with pages of tips that will help to get your kids moving!
In this book, Grover talks directly to readers as he takes them through many pages of fun exercises. The "story" is told with great humor and the exercises are engaging and fun --- jumping, stretching, dancing and more. Elmo is in this story, but doesn't talk.
This book also includes some useful parenting tips. It's a nice book for "Sesame Street" fans or for any parent in need of some ideas to get their kids up off the couch.

Lucas liked it!.......2007-09-17
My 6 1/2 year old grandson enjoyed this book before his tonsils and adenoids came out. Helped him understand what it was going to be like. Surprisingly few current, good books on this topic.
GREAT book!.......2007-06-10
The partner of my daughter's ENT co-wrote this book! She was excited that she knew the author! LOL The content is accurate and the story is agreeable. Great choice for helping prepare a child for surgery!!!!!!
Let this book be your guide.......2007-03-19
I would highly recommend this book if your child is preparing for a tonsillectomy. It really helped our 3.5 year old prepare for hers. It described every part of surgery very acurately so she knew just what to expect. It starts with being diagnosed then explains what tonsils are and the purpose they serve. Most important it talks about the "magic mask" and anesthesia which we were really concerned about. When the time came, she was calm and collected and not as scared about having a mask put over her face and going to sleep because we read about it over and over again in this book. The book also addresses post op - waking up with an IV, having a sore throat, being groggy from anesthesia. The book was actually written by a little girl with her father after she had the operation so it's complicated material written from a kids point of view. Really easy for a child to relate to. Just don't read it too soon before surgery - then they have too much time to think about things you read about with them!
a nice souvenir .......2007-03-13
we bought this book after surgery as my daughter's surgeon is teh one in the book and she loved him. so, it was a gret souvenir. probably better to buy it before to get prepared..we had FRanklin goes to hospital which was a great help.
Good-bye Tonsils!.......2007-03-12
This book was fabulous. My 4 yr old granddaughter read it many times before she had her tonsils out, and was thoroughly prepared. She wasn't afraid at all, and the nurse said she was the calmest kid she ever saw! It was a terrific resource on a subject that was hard to find kids' books on.

Full of Fun.......2006-05-12
Although my son is now 15, I still enjoy looking at and reading children's books. This one is full of fun,the illustrations are very colorful and it tells a story to which many parents can relate. The storyline is easy to follow and keeps the reader or listener interested whether they are 4 or 40. I can see this becoming a child's favorite book and who knows, maybe even a daddy's favorite one too.
Book Description
What are the other creatures that lived at the time of the dinosaurs -- those inevitably smaller creatures that had to stay out of the way in order to survive?
There is the Hesperornis, a bird that cannot fly or walk. Then there's the pterosaur, with the wingspan of a small airplane. Strange reptiles and fish. A cross between a snake and a turtle called a plesiosaur.
You don't believe it? Look inside this book and discover the amazing world that runs, flaps, swims, screeches, cries, and honks.

LIVING WITH DINOSAURS.......1996-12-22
This is a fantastic dinosaur book, intended for youngsters but enjoyable by older dinosaurophiles as well! LIVING WITH DINOSAURS explores the various habitats of early Late Cretaceous Montana and their inhabitants, which include not only dinosaurs (famous ones being Maiasaura, Corythosaurus, Albertosaurus, and Troodon) but their neighbors (pterosaurs, marine reptiles, sharks, primitive seabirds, mammals, and others), hence the name of the book. Henderson's artwork is very dramatic, very beautiful, and very impressive, and fans of dinosaur art (such as myself) will simply gobble them up. A definite must for ANY dinosaurophile's library! -- Rachel K. Clar

Pirates, Patches, and Parrots!
What unexpected markers do you find along your faith journey, ones that lead you closer to God? In Swashbuckling Faith , author and former pastor Tim Wesemann helps you find surprising doorways to God’s truth in the scenes and dialogue of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series. Created merely to entertain, these movies find Captain Jack Sparrow and his cohorts unintentionally leaving behind traces of truth ready to be explored and expanded in light of the Bible. Wesemann springboards from these glimpses to explore scriptural lessons on faith, prayer, contentment, spiritual warfare, forgiveness, hope, and much more. When your biblical perception starts finding treasures of truth in popular culture and everyday occurrences, you’ll set sail for the adventure of a lifetime!
âCaptain Jack Sparrow, if you please, sir.â
Captain Jack Sparrow (that’s Johnny Depp, to you lovers of cinema) is the charming pirate in the popular Pirates of the Caribbean movies that buried Hollywood in gold. The films captured imaginations young and old, but now Tim Wesemann invites you to depart on an even greater adventureâfor real!
Following the treasure map of God’s Word, this dangerous exploration will reveal priceless gems of not-so-buried, no-so-pirate booty! You’ll uncover hidden traces of truth and priceless pearls of faith. Lessons on prayer, contentment, spiritual warfare, forgiveness, and hope will awaken you to messages your true Captain is conveying all around you. Because even a pirate movie, looked at through new lenses, can point the way to tangible riches of biblical truth.

Story Behind the Book
Tim Wesemann is not a pirate, nor does he act as one on TV. While âswashbucklerâ may not appear on his resume, he loves exploring for biblical treasure and often discovers it where you might least expect itâincluding a secular movie with pirates who pillage, plunder, and pilfer. Even scenes and dialogue from Pirates of the Caribbean served to help grow his faith in God. While the movie is a favorite in the Wesemann household, Tim also draws from past experiences as a pastor and his present insights as a fulltime Christian author and speaker.
Customer Reviews:
Creative and inspiring.......2006-11-05
This book is an excellent and entertaining devotional for Christians. Swashbuckling faith uses examples from the movie to help us learn more about God's love for us through Jesus. The author has an amazing way of drawing you in to the topic very creatively as he brings spiritual truths to light in a very practicaly way. I highly recommend this book for Christians young and old.
A book for the Jack Sparrows in all of us.......2006-09-20
Pirates of the Caribbean, the original Disney movie, had plenty of supernatural elements to it. But is there anything we can learn from it about Christian living? In Swashbuckling Faith, former pastor Tim Wesemann contends that there are pearls of truth throughout the film worthy of our exploration.
The book contains 32 brief chapters, each a lesson using the movie's plot as a springboard (or plank) for discussion. Each chapter begins with a "pirate's hook," a snapshot from the movie illustrated the pearl of truth. The topics range from honoring codes and mutiny to captains needing crews and trusting our anchor.
Perhaps my favorite treasure/lesson in the book was "One Good Deed Deserves..." In the movie, Commodore Norrington tells Jack, "One good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness." Wesemann pillages this spiritual truth wonderfully: "Maybe a better question is whether one good act should redeem us from a lifetime of iniquity." (30)
With almost any book of this nature, one naturally expects a certain amount of cheesiness. While there are cheesy elements in Swashbuckling Faith (such as the JSV Bible translation- Jack Sparrow Version), it's kept at an appropriate level without going too far over board. Tim Wesemann is a poetic writer who skillfully navigates the deeper waters of living faith. Avast me heartys, this be a fun and practical read whether yer landlubbin or out to sea. Now, bring me that horizon...
Treasure in its own right!!.......2006-09-19
Tim Wesemann has a writing style that leads a reader down a comfortable journey. In this book he outlines the treasures and the choppy waters we can face as we walk a Christian life. The journey in this book is wonderfully humorous but just as equally inspiring. If you are looking to mature in your faith, this book can certainly fit the bill in an entertaining way. The only problem is that it was such an easy read that I finished it way too fast. Now I'll have to go back and read it again and again (what a problem to have)!
Pardon me while I stand up and applaud !.......2006-09-16
Who ever would have thought that Jack Sparrow's piratical ways could have meaning for a Christian ? Tim Wesemann creatively combines spiritual truths with humor and an unmistakable passion for furthering his and our relationship with God.It's like being handed a map for your faith ! Dig up this treasure....And be a good little pirate and share the gems with your friends.
Errrrrrrrrh, What a fabulous Book.......2006-07-02
This is a book that I just couldn't put down. It was a real boost to my faith. It was entertaining, interesting, challenging and faith building. I will go back to it again and again for encouragement and fun. I can't recommend it enough.

For some of us, walls don't just hold the roof up--they're also the spot we choose to show off our favorite artists, collections, or random found objects. For proper effect, these treasures shouldn't just be chosen to match the sofa or tacked up to cover scuff marks in the paint, but planned with particular moods in mind. Author Alan Powers fills Living with Pictures with text and photographs designed to educate both eye and brain in the special art of picture grouping and how plain walls can best be used as a means of displaying their owners' personal style. Powers delves into specifics like texture, form, framing, and mood, showing every style from modern minimalism to baroque, and he discusses how to incorporate windows and other architectural features in detail, as well as how to protect delicate works of art from sun and moisture damage. When walls are made entirely of glass, as in one ultramodern living space, a sleek easel functions as a movable wall while displaying a treasured oil painting. Stark black-and-white photos enliven a stainless-steel kitchen, while a wall of antique cartoon illustrations adds a whimsical touch to an otherwise traditional room. Creativity and practicality are nicely blended here; decorators and new homeowners alike will enjoy this book both as a guide and an inspiration. --Jill Lightner
