Taylor Hartman's The Color Code: A New Way to See Yourself, Your Relationships, and Life introduces a fresh method for analyzing your own personality and behavior--as well as those of people around you--and then utilizing that knowledge to improve workplace and personal relationships. The author, a psychologist and leadership coach, offers a remarkably astute system for grouping everyone into categories denoted by a color: red (power wielders), blue (do-gooders), white (peace keepers), and yellow (fun lovers). He then explains how to ensure that all possible alliances between them function at optimum effectiveness.

Customer Reviews:
The most insightful book ever!!!.......2007-05-14
This book really helped to open my eyes. I understand why people do the things that they do. it helped me to understand myself and why I feel the way that I do sometimes. I have a whole new "people" outlook!
Really Fun.......2007-04-11
I was resistent to the whole idea at first. Then we took it with us on a trip and had so much fun figuring out who everyone was going to be and then taking the test to find out if we were right. I recommend it for a great way to get meaningful conversations going. This won't take the place of any real therapy but I found it helpful in clarifying a few things.
delightfully awesome.......2006-02-19
This book is contagious. While I was staying at my aunt's for the summer, I read the book, took the test, and the ensuing discussion with my aunt about the contents motivated my younger cousin to take the test, and the next thing I knew, the whole family was taking the test. I found the information easy to follow and very applicable, more so than some of these other personality tests with at least 12 different personalities. Whose going to take the time to memorize how 12 different personalities are different, so that they can identify people as such and such a personality? It's much easier to determine whether a person is red, blue, white, or yellow than whether they are a NTSJ, or some other random assortment of letters. As for some people whining about the lack of human interest stories, provide your own stories. There are people all around us and in reading this book, you should be able to think of people you know personally who personify these traits. Of course, this is assuming that you haven't been living in a cave in the middle of nowhere for the majority of your life.
Good...accomplishes intent.......2005-11-30
If one were to try to take The Color Code very seriously, I suppose there could be some disappointment. However, if you read it with interest...with the intent to add to your knowledge base (rather than to develop your knowledge base), I think you'll find the book to be fun, insightful, & helpful. I certainly had fun reading it & assessing my personality!
The Color Code Book Review.......2005-09-27
I liked this book because it pointed out characteristics of people and why people act, think, and talk the way they do. As I was reading the book, it had great stories and facts that it made me realize the type of people my friends are, and why they are the way they are. It helps you better understand your relationships, yourself, and your life from a different perspective.
I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone who is looking for a better way of looking at life and all the personalities with it.

Applying The Character Code.......2007-01-09
Becoming the person who deserves and achieves true happiness in life is my ultimate goal. This book has helped me discover exactly what I need to work on to achieve that goal. This book makes the path more clear.
Amazing! See yourslef and others more correctly!.......2006-04-04
The book is awesome! I noticed a very bitter review written above and was so shocked I decided to write my own! (First let me state I do not know Hartman and I am not writing this review because of any connection to him! I am writing this because this book is amazing and I hope everyone looking into this book reads it! So to the bitter person who wrote the review above I say this; What is the cause of your obvious bitter disdain for Dr. Hartman?)
Dr Hartman's identifications of the base personality types is right on target! He very accurately identifies the root motivations and needs of the 4 different personality types helping the reader immediately gain a deeper understanding of human behavior. I love this book so much I have given away 2 copies and have boughten his second book, "Color Your Future." (Another extremely insightful book!) I promise if you get this book you will not regret it!
insightful and uncomplicated.......2003-03-21
Dr Hartmans approach to understanding and working with others, by understanding their personality, is one of the most insightful and uncomplicated pieces of liturature available. I am a Marriage and Family Therapist intern and have had experience with a number of other personality profile measures/profiles available on the market. Many other sources are too complicated and lengthy for many people. Hartmans is set up in a way that most people will be able to understand and work with. For these reasons, I would recommend his work to most anyone.
Utter Nonsense.......2002-01-17
This book is pure drivel based on one mans "visions" that he supposedly received after getting into a serious accident. There is no scientific basis for his work. Nothing in this book is an original concept. Quite a few of his "ideas" can be found in several books previous to Dr. Hartmans book being published. I do not reccommend this book on any level. I also have it on good authority that the wonderful reiews that this book has received on this web page come from friends and associates of Dr. Hartman, at his request. I would be interested to know what others think of this book that do not know Dr. Hartman
This book answers a lot of questions........2000-12-12
You should really read this book if you have been unhappy with your "lot" in life or are just plain unhappy with yourself. It answers a lot of questions and is like taking a look in the mirror. It may seem simplistic to break down the human personality into four color groups, but if you read through the book and spend some time on the tables, you will find your core personality. Then things will become much more clear. One whole chapter is spent on valuing oneself and its relevance to your whole being and to self-actualization. Dr. Hartman describes how doing what you love to do is part of valuing yourself. It asks that you not give up what you love, which is exactly what I had been doing. I found the book to be easy to follow and very logical and sensible. I've read through it once, but am going to keep it on hand to keep reminding me that there is hope.
Book Description
Colour cures. Thats the simple premise behind this revolutionary book. While we all know that healthy eating is the key to a long life, few people understand why the natural pigments that make fruits and vegetables so colourful can help protect your body, too. Combining their expertise in aging and nutrition, a leading scientist and an outstanding physician show readers how to prevent the most common age-related illnesses through a simple multicolored eating plan. For generations, parents have been telling their children to eat their fruits and vegetables. This book finally tells us why. Most health and nutrition books present only one viewscience, medicine, or nutrition. But The Color Code integrates all three to give readers a comprehensive understanding of the amazing health potential of pigmented foods.
Customer Reviews:
Great Book!.......2006-11-06
This book has been a great help to me! It's taught me the right way to eat-more fruits and vegetables-without being hungry or bored. I've lost 12 pounds, have more energy and my mind seems sharper!
The best book to learn abot antioxidant foods!.......2006-08-13
This book is wonderful and exciting to read, it has changed the way I look at my plate. It has started me on a hhuge blueberry kick that has improved my health. If you are into a healthy life style you need this book.
Simple and Effective!.......2005-09-25
A friend told me about this book and how much the concepts when applied, had helped her feel so much better - and healthier! I have been following the ideas for around 4 weeks now and couldn't agree more. Even though my goal was not to lose weight, I've lost 10 pounds just by eating better - according to color! And believe it or not, I feel better as well. Buy this book and a bright highlighter. You'll soon be marking your favorite brightly colored foods - and then filling your grocery cart with them. Well written, easy to understand and chock full of references - it simply makes sense.
It is now 5 months later since I first reviewed this book and I've loaned out my copy to several people - all are experiencing similar results as I have. I continue to eat "by color", my weight has stayed off, I can't remember when I was last sick and what was merely a good book has become a terrific reference book. If you forget what particular benefits a certain color food has - simply look it up - layed out clearly in the book - by color of course!
NOTE: It is now January 2007 and I continue to eat according to "colors". My weight has stayed off, I was not sick even one day in 2006 and every week I fill up a plastic container (for work snacks) filled with vegetable color!
Most incredible and so informative!.......2002-09-12
This book is so simple to read and once you start you don't want to put it down. The first few pages make you want to run out to the grocery store and hit the produce isle. It honestly makes you change your entire way of thinking when it comes to eating. You'll want that fruit salad rather than the candy bar. It's just such' a GREAT and easy to read and so easy to absorb book! Everyone is getting one for christmas!
Happy eating-
Color Code Works!.......2002-09-06
I see Dr. Nadeau for assistance in my weight loss & I use his book as my guide when he is not available for answering my questions. It is an awesome book. I am losing weight with excersizes he has recommended for me & the diet he has worked out for me personally. You will not be disappointed in purchasing this book.
Book Description
"The first thing to realize about the study of color in our time is its uncanny ability to evade all attempts to systematically codify it," writes Charles A. Riley in this series of interconnected essays on the uses and meanings of color.
Customer Reviews:
A Chromatic Feast.......2000-05-22
This excellently researched, enlightening book by Riley offers a useful overview of chromatic developments in a number of fields (the person who called this book "cream puffs" misses the point completely). The book offers numerous examples of innovations and commentary on various artists (pictorial and literary) and their colorific tendencies. Connections to theory--from Derrida to Barthes--accompany many of the book's observations. As there is little serious critical work on color, Riley's book offers a useful stepping stone to further research. I would strongly suggest this work to anyone interested in color theory and approach. Riley is a lucid, engaging writer who has made a major contribution to color theory.
Disappointing.......1998-10-17
Reading this book was like being served up a meal of cream puffs -- impressive at first glance, but ultimately unsatisfying due to lack of substance. Like many books that attempt to present the reader with a cafeteria-style synopsis of a subject (a bit of this, a bit of that...) this work is a disappointingly superficial survey of a most difficult and elusive subject. I think John Ruskin said it best: "A great many people do not know green from red; and such kind of persons are apt to feel it their duty to write scientific treatises on color, edifying to the art-world..."
An original, ambitious book about the idea of color.......1997-04-09
Color Codes by Charles A. Riley II is an extraordinary example of inter-disciplinary thought, examining the fascinating topic of color through short essays on Modern and contemporary artists, architects, poets, novelists, psychologists, philosophers, composers and musical performers. Much of the most lively material in the book comes from direct encounters with artists in their studios and interviews. A passionate, ambitious book on a wonderful subject.
