A cup, a compass, a key: the magic tree house has brought siblings Annie and Jack to Camelot, where they embark on a mysterious mission to find these enigmatic gifts. In this special hardcover addition to the bestselling Magic Tree House series, the young adventurers must travel to the Otherworld, an "ancient, enchanted land beyond the edge of the Earth, the place where all magic began" to save Camelot from dark wizard Mordred's evil spell. If they fail, Camelot will be forgotten forever. Fans of the beloved, highly readable series by Mary Pope Osborne will rise to the challenge of this longer, more complex companion to her other titles, which include Earthquake in the Early Morning and Twister on Tuesday. As in every story in the sequence, Jack and Annie bravely plunge into their quest, learning about a culture and time very far removed from their own, and prove once again that children can make a difference. (Ages 6 to 9) --Emilie Coulter
Book Description
The Magic Tree House series has become a staple for inspiring kids to read. Christmas in Camelot is a very special Magic Tree House book. Here, author Mary Pope Osborne uses the literary skills for which she’s known to create a longer, more in-depth story featuring the characters kids have come to love. The result is magical: a fast-paced but detailed, easy-to-read story. Jack and Annie go on a quest to save Camelot, a quest that will prove to a beleaguered King Arthur that children and imagination really can make a difference.

Book-Series.......2007-10-08
Book arrived in a timely manner. Was suprised it didn't have a dust cover as that was not stated in advertisement. However, book was in good shape.
Magic Treehouse Series.......2007-09-26
The magic treehouse series has been and continues to be a wonderful series for my son. Educational and interesting, these books capture his attention and inspire his imagination. It is so rewarding to see your child be enthusiastic about reading stories and reading in general. I have and will continue to suggest these books to other parents.
What happened?.......2006-11-07
What happened? Magic Tree House series books 1-28 were great, with educational tales filled with historical relevance that used just enough magic to make the story work. Buy the complete set of 1-28! However, the Christmas book (#29) and apparently all the following books are pure magic, fantasy drivel with no redeeming qualities. Did Mary Pope Osborne hope to capitalize on the Harry Potter craze? (I'm basing this on heresay, since I haven't read Harry Potter.) I slogged thru this book, cringed and gagged thru #30, and made my wife read the next ones to my 5 year old. I'm going to tell him there aren't anymore, because they are too awful to buy and read.
I very, very disappointed in what happened to this series. Please, please Mary Pope - get back to writing good stories and not this nonsense.
Christmas in Camelot (Magic Treehouse #29).......2006-11-04
My [...] year old son absolutely loved this series. I had to read it to him, though. When I would stop reading for bedtime he would be so excited to know what came next he would always beg for just one more chapter. We are now rereading the books (he just turned 7). As his reading skills improve, he is beginning to pick out words and phrases as I read to him
This book was on of the Merlin series and had a more magical component to it. There are Christmas references but it is definitely not a real "Christmas" story. It can be read any time of the year. The story is about a brother and sister Jack and Annie. They have a series of clues to get to quest which is given to them by the magician Merlin. You can read this book alone, but I would recommend reading some of the earlier ones in the series to get to know the characters.
Winter of the Ice Wizard by Mary Pope Osborne kids review .......2006-04-21
I liked this book because it had a lot of action. They had wolves that chased them and they also had winter storms. In this book they find two friends that help them. I would recommend this book for all boys and girls.

Mr. Willowby, the unwitting hero of this Christmas classic, looks quite a bit like the little mustachioed mascot from Monopoly. But as befits a Yuletide tale, this diminutive millionaire turns out to be a good bit more generous.
The Christmas tree in question shows up at Mr. Willowby's home by special order, aboard a big pink truck: "Full and fresh and glistening green--The biggest tree he had ever seen." But it's just a little too big, so he asks his butler, Baxter, to trim off the top few feet that brush up against the parlor ceiling. Baxter realizes that this snipped-off top would make a perfect little tree for "Miss Adelaide, Mr. Willowby's upstairs maid." But she, too, must clip off the top of her tree... which then ends up with Timm, the gardener. Timm's trimming goes on to Barnaby Bear, the tippy-top of Barnaby's tree ends up with Frisky Fox and family, and then Benjamin Rabbit finds the top few inches that Mrs. Fox snipped off. And so it goes, until soon the whole countryside learns that it's simply "grand to have a tree--Exactly like Mr. Willowby."
There's many a lesson to be taken from this tale, about recycling and supply-side economics just for starters. But the cheerful illustrations of Robert Barry ensure that you'll have fun just watching as the ever-tinier tree gets passed on to ever-tinier families. (Ages 5 to 8) --Paul Hughes

A second generation gets to enjoy this book!.......2007-10-04
I first bought this book many years ago after hearing Captain Kangaroo read this story on his morning TV show. My children all enjoyed it. Now I am buying it so that our grandchildren can have a chance to read this book. It is a charming story!
Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree.......2007-07-13
I have fond memories of this book from my childhood. It's also a wonderful tale of making do and being happy with what you have.
Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree.......2007-03-09
A great book as a child and a great book to read to a child as an adult. Brings back lots of nice childhood memories.
Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree.......2007-01-18
This book was recommended to me by a friend who has read it to her children and now to her Grandchildren every Christmas for many years. Cute story, colors are bright enough to be enjoyed even by an infant - my 2 month old Grandson was captivated by the pictures!
Great any time of year.......2007-01-13
The tale of a tree that always seems to be a bit too big for the room it's in. As the tree is trimmed (literally), the cut bits find homes with others and brings a bit of christmas to them. It's not a story of christmas charity... more about making do with what you have or what fate brings you.
This was one of my favorite books when I was a kid. I just bought it for my daughters. They are a bit young for the story, but love looking at all the animals.

Creative way to tell the meaning of Christmas.......2000-10-20
A farm family grows Christmas trees to sell, and the farmer's wife chooses the most beautiful tree for her own family, putting a sign on it, "Not for Sale". But when a poor family comes to the tree lot to see if they can pick out a tree from the free area (trees that have missing branches or crooked trunks), the poor family's little girl sees the beautiful tree and asks if she can choose that one. Everyone is embarrased that she asks, as the adults all know her family can't afford the tree. The farmer's wife responds that she is sorry, the tree isn't for sale...because they'd like the girl's family to have it as a gift. The book ends, "Yes, it was a great sacrifice. But it brought even greater joy. Isn't that just like Christmas?" The illustrations are very kid-friendly and fun. Applicable Bible verses are at the bottom of every other page. A creative and wonderful story.

this book was a suprising enjoyable tale of right living for young children and adults. Read it again, mom!

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Ornament Making Source!.......2006-01-25
COtM is a fabulous source of inspiration when it comes to making ornaments. The photos show each project in its final stage, a few have diagrams to show folding technique, and for those projects using a pattern, one is provided (although you'll have to enlarge at times). The projects are great for beginner and intermediate crafters as the directions mostly involve glue, ribbon, beads, glitter and paint. There are a few advanced projects but those mostly deal with oven and/or air dry clay. These are great rainy-day projects the whole family can enjoy because the instructions tell you all the items you will need and most are only 4 step processes. Finally, for those who feel their place is in a hardware store rather than a craft store, there are even projects for you! Various non-traditional elements are used to make some of the lovely ornaments too. Well worth a purchase.

Book Description
By moonlight in the quiet forest, a young boy and his family decorate their favorite tree with popcorn, apples, tangerines, and sunflower-seed balls as a gift for the animals of the woods. “Sure to become a Christmas favorite, this beautifully illustrated story of a family’s unusual tradition brings to life the true spirit of Christmas.”--American Bookseller
Customer Reviews:
A Peaceful Holiday Tale.......2004-08-18
This lovely book is a favorite at any time of the year, though it centers around one family's Christmas Eve tradition. My kids have asked if we can start decorating a tree in the woods, too! The illustrations are gorgeous (Ted Rand is one of our favorites) and the writing makes you slow down and savor the unfolding of this simple, but sweet story.
A winter tale.......2003-10-29
I'm an elementary ed. major and this book is also good to read to kids who don't celebrate Christmas because although the family decorates a tree there isn't any mention of a particular hoilday. The title even lends to this fact.
Neat Christmas Story About Family and Traditions.......2000-12-14
This is a neat story about a family's Christmas tradition. Every year, they troop out into the forrest to decorate their night tree, a living pine Christmas tree. The night tree is festooned with edible decorations. After the family enjoys the magic of the decorated tree, they depart, knowing that the friendly critters who inhabit the woods will enjoy the decorations as a Christmas time snack.
The book introduces an interesting family "tradition" and teaches the concept of tradition as well as doing for others (the gifts of food for the animals). It is a warm story that brings smiles to young faces.
fantastic story.......1999-01-04
I'm a 3rd grade teacher and my kids loved the setting and language of the story. It was an excellant book to enhance future writings about holiday traditions.
A wonderful Christmas story.......1998-01-30
As I read this book I felt a part of the family as they went to visit their Christmas tree. I loved the warm feeling it gave me. I read it to my adult friends at a small Christmas gathering and they loved it also.

Customer Reviews:
Loved it.......2007-01-06
Great book for all levels. The directions are clear and easy to follow with great pictures and graphics. The book also looks adorable hanging around on the coffee table
What a Bargain!.......2003-11-18
I have had a blast knitting Christmas stockings for the whole family with this book. The great thing is, with one book, you have almost unlimited patterns available (much cheaper than buying a kit or a pattern for each stocking!), and yet everyone can choose a pattern that expresses his or her individuality. My husband chose the simple "Rustic Lodge" stocking, while I wanted the more challenging "Lace Brocade." And with the mix-and-match stocking, you really could have endless possibilities. The instructions were clear, although even when you use the exact yarn and needles described, check your gauge (you can't be off when you're knitting on a circular needle!).
One bonus about this book: almost every pattern has a slightly different way to turn a heel (and none of them are done with seams -- they're all knit in the round like real socks). If you have ambitions about being a sock knitter, this is an excellent place to start, since you can practice the techniques without the sock ever having to be comfortable enough to wear!
Great Stocking Patterns.......2003-10-09
I loved this book much like it's counter parts, Knit Mittens and Knit Hats. I have made 6 stockings so far and intend to knit more. The patterns are explicit enough for the novice knitter. However there are patterns for the experienced knitter as well. I enjoy the shape of these books (they take me back to my childhood). I highly recommend this book. The "elves" have done well with this one. Merry Christmas!

It's the perfect day to find a Christmas tree. Best friends Turtle and Snake look at many trees, but none is quite right. Then they arrive home to find the perfect Christmas tree right in their own yard. This simple, lively, holiday tale is just right for beginning readers.

A holiday favorite from Patricia Polacco is now available again, to her fans' delight. Based on Polacco's childhood memories, this is the story of her Great-uncle Vladimir, known as Vova, and his colorful and inventive celebrations of the Russian Orthodox holiday of Epiphany. Polacco's art warmly depicts the vibrant costumes and decorations from her family's homeland, and the text conveys the magical feeling of a child's wonder and joy during the holidays.
Uncle Vova's Tree is a perfect companion to Polacco's new holiday story, Christmas Tapestry, or a stand-alone classic that belongs on every

A great holiday tradition.......2005-12-09
We have read this book every year since 2001 with our children, now ages 8 and 10. We all love this book- it is a reminder that Christmas is about family, love, traditions and faith. We have taken on two of Uncle Vova's traditions in our family- we set a place at the table for those who can not be with us and we put a gold dollar coin in someone's soup. Beware: if you lost a loved one recently, you may not be able to get through the end.
Excellent!.......2000-01-27
This book is about Patricia Polacco's Christmas traditions. I think this book will teach you a lot about Patricia Polacco. This book would interest elementary kids the most. I really liked this book.

Beautiful Story.......2007-01-16
I love the story "Why Christmas Trees Aren't Perfect", It is a simple lesson of priorities and what really makes someone beautiful. The illustrations are a wonderful complement to the story being told. It is a book to bring out every year at Christmas time.
Beautiful story.......2006-12-19
This is an enchanting Christmas tale of internal beauty and acceptance. It sends a lovely message about generosity, kindness, uniqueness and hope. It also helped my children and I pick a "not so perfect" tree when we went to select ours for Christmas. My children pointed out tress that weren't perfect and we selected one that wasn't perfectly shaped and maybe a little crooked. It stands proudly in our living room and is perhaps the most lovely tree we've ever had.
wonderful book.......2006-01-15
A beautiful story for anyone. Adults and children; it's ageless. Fabulous illustrations and brilliant writing.
My son's pick.......2005-12-15
My 7-year old son rarely talks about what happens in school and he came home telling me the whole story of "Why Christmas Tree's Aren't Perfect" because he enjoyed hearing the story from his teacher. He even wrote down the name so I could find it for our home.
What Christmas is all about.......2005-10-24
I had never read this book before, but a mom at school told me about it. It was so touching it brought a tear to my eye!
