New Perspectives on Microsoft Office Excel 2003, Comprehensive, Second Edition (New Perspectives (Paperback Course Technology.......2007-09-29
Good product. Just as it was described. I ordered this for my daughter for a college class that she is taking.
The best price anywhere........2007-09-26
This book is the same anywhere you go but it was the cheapest and when comes to school books, if can get deal then you should. I had no problems with delivery it was an easy process and got it in no time.

This item was in perfect condition.. just as described. I am very satisfied with this item and with how the seller conducted this transaction.
great textbook for new and experienced users of Excel.......2007-02-14
Thsi book is great!, I'm taking an Excel class this semester at college and needed the book. Great price and easy to understand for new and old users of Excel.
Used it in college course - EXCELLENT BOOK!.......2007-01-10
I'm taking Excel Spreadsheets in college this quarter. The book is clear, and easy to understand (even for those unfamiliar with using a computer, in my opinion).
One of the best parts is the great visual aids. Each tutorial gives color pictures of what you should be seeing on the screen of your computer while you work the tutorial. Sections within the chapter are also very well color organized and bolded for easy skimming if you are not new to the material.
Our teacher says that the book gets really advanced the farther on you read. Our basics & intermediate class only goes halfway through the book. The advanced excel class reads the second half, which teaches material on the level required by Microsoft in order to receive Microsoft Office Certification on the "expert" level.
On another note, Excel is an invaluable tool for personal use and in the work world.

The Case for Christ records Lee Strobel's attempt to "determine if there's credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God." The book consists primarily of interviews between Strobel (a former legal editor at the Chicago Tribune) and biblical scholars such as Bruce Metzger. Each interview is based on a simple question, concerning historical evidence (for example, "Can the Biographies of Jesus Be Trusted?"), scientific evidence, ("Does Archaeology Confirm or Contradict Jesus' Biographies?"), and "psychiatric evidence" ("Was Jesus Crazy When He Claimed to Be the Son of God?"). Together, these interviews compose a case brief defending Jesus' divinity, and urging readers to reach a verdict of their own.
Book Description
Using the dramatic scenario of an investigative journalist pursuing his story and leads, Lee Strobel uses his experience as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune to interview experts about the evidence for Christ from the fields of science, philosophy, and history. Winner of the Gold Medallion Book Award and twice nominated for the Christian Book of the Year Award.

My boyfriend met Christ through this book.......2007-09-12
I think this book does a pretty good job at analyzing Jesus' existence and the validity of the bible from various angles, such as via archeology, psychology, anatomy, science, logic, etc. And amazingly, by God's grace, my boyfriend met Christ through this book! Praise God.
Compelling Arguments.......2007-09-01
I found The Case for Christ to be well written and the arguments put forward to be very compelling. Mr. Stobel uses a series of interviews with a variety of experts to build his case and each presented facts or points of view that were very hard to refute. Excellent book.A Startrek to Eternity
A good starting point for both skeptics and apologists.......2007-08-28
I've read this book numerous times and read the reviews of those who gave the books low scores. This book is a good starting point for people with lots of agnostic/atheist friends. Granted, if your friend was Hawkings or Dawkins, you might have a tough time relying on this book. Sometimes it doesn't cover topics you'd like to be covered and sometimes the reasoning takes a bit of thinking to understand, but generally, this book covers all the bases.
Of course, the writer had a Christian agenda. Everything has a systemic bias. I could write a review on The Selfish Gene saying that the book has an evolutionist bias. For others, just "the Bible says so" is a good argument. This is even more sillier, like driving a car without knowing how to brake. When your friends give you an obstacle, you can only swerve around it or crash and burn. In Matthew 22:37, Jesus said to love the Lord with all your mind and that sound doctrine should be taught. If you can't argue for sound doctrine, how can you teach and understand it?
Thought provoking.......2007-08-23
This book is very well written in an investigative style and counters some of the less challenged arguments of those who do not believe in Christ as the Son of God. Usually, agnostics and atheists present what appears to be an intellectually sound argument against Christ's position as the Savior of the world. These arguments are countered methodically and give the non-theologian a source for countering arguments against Christ. I have read Strobel's "A Case for Faith" and because of that read this book. It is nice to read intellectually sound arguments for Christ that can't be dismissed as the work of religious zealots or "kooks" as Christians are sometimes portrayed when defending their beliefs.
Just plain excellent.......2007-08-21
This is a most interesting book, excellently written, decisive and to the point. It touches on areas that any believer has pondered and many atheists base their faith on.
Any thinking person cannot argue the facts uncovered in it. It is also a good reference for the up and coming apologist.
It is so much easier to be an atheist than a believer. This book reveals the futility of the easy belief...

Best Step By Step Book for Access 2003 Beginners.......2007-01-06
As a business application user I started studying Access 2003 using a book titled "Sams Teach Yourself Microsoft Office Access 2003 in 24 Hours"; by Alison Balter. That book has a more conceptual approach and I felt I was taking too long to learn the fundamental steps of how to build a database with limited previous exposure to Access 2003. This book was very user friendly with less geek-speak and more graphics to show you how to achieve your database objectives in Access 2003. If you complete the exercises and then the challenge problems at the end of each chapter you'll quickly be the Access 2003 expert in a business administration setting. I highly recommend it for business application users before any another text book on Access 2003!

Since its release, More Than a Carpenter has been challenging readers to ask the question, "Who is Jesus?" Author and renowned speaker Josh McDowell acknowledges that while the topic of God is widely accepted, the name of Jesus often causes irritation. "Why don't the names of Buddha, Mohammed, Confucius offend people? The reason is that these others didn't claim to be God, but Jesus did." By addressing questions about scientific and historical evidence, the validity of the Bible, and proofs of the resurrection, McDowell helps the reader come to an informed and intelligent decision about whether Jesus was a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord. This short, 128-page gem does not employ fancy theological words, forsaking the layman, but reads more like an intimate research document laying out the facts with veracious accuracy, from reliable sources ranging from secular scientists to conservative seminarians. A skeptic himself for many years, McDowell always believed that Christians were "out of their minds" but now insists that "never has an individual been called upon to commit intellectual suicide in trusting Christ as Savior and Lord." McDowell adeptly articulates fundamental answers to poignant questions that cause the skeptic to consider whether Jesus was a liar causing countless martyrs to die in his wake, a lunatic deserving death, or actually the Lord of the universe. --Jill Heatherly
Book Description
Josh McDowell's timeless examination of the true nature of Christ and his impact on our lives is one of the best-selling Christian books ever (more than eight million copies in print worldwide!). Written by a former skeptic of Christianity, it is a hard-hitting book for those who doubt Jesus' deity and his purpose.
Customer Reviews:
amazing!.......2007-09-24
I thought this book was amazing. It says everything in an intelligent manner with main points that cannot be argued. My favorite part is when Josh shows how the disciples were the closest to Christ and would know if it was all a lie, and if they did know it was a lie, why did many of them still give their lives for the word of God? I recommend this book to anyone I know looking for answers. It's a fast, easy reader, easy to understand, and yet very compelling. It's a great book for nonChristians and long time Christians alike.
very good.......2007-08-29
This is a very good book. And the condition is very good for a used book. It is very interesting as well. I recommend this as well for anyone questioning your faith.
I first began to doubt Christianity after reading this book.......2007-08-22
The book is weak. There are holes in everything MacDowell says. What can I say. I was disappointed and my faith was harmed by this book. I personally don't think any apologetics succeed. The only way to believe is to simply believe, even if you know Christianity is wrong and the bible contradicts itself. Just bury that, suppress it and call it the sinful flesh, and believe. That is a much more effective way to have biblical faith than entering the arenas of reason or rationalism as in all such cases, Christianity fails.
Good enough for the choir.......2007-08-21
If you doubt, this book may not help. As you read it, you probably will see thru MacDowell's arguments and long for more effective proof of Jesus. Consider the prophecy's for example. Read any of them in their original context and it's fairly clear that they were not prophecying the Messiah. Besides, how do we know that the fulfillments happened, just because it says so in the gospels? His Naive defense of the historical reliability of the New Testament is enough to make you a hindu or an atheist. Anything but a Christian.
Awesome.......2007-08-14
This book is an eye opener for anyone striving to be a Christian or for anyone who doubts Christianity! I love it!

Building for the kingdom.......2007-06-22
This is my first foray into N.T. Wright's literary discipleship. This is good written stimulus that will lead you to a deeper understanding of who Jesus is. This collection of Eucharistic sermons expands from the passion of Christ to the revelation of the Father's plan for true discipleship. The language is easy to read and Dean Wright uses great words and pharases to lead us further along. N.T. Wright has become one of my must read theologians.
Costly Christian Discipleship.......2007-05-24
Tom Wright, Anglican bishop in England, once again elucidates in a cogent but thoroughly readable style that only he can what it means to follow Jesus. If one is a sometime Christian who does not want to 'count the cost' of what it means to 'be Jesus' to a hurting world, you'd better avoid this book. In a world full of evangelists who promise 'what's in it for us' if we follow Jesus, Tom Wright challenges us to really take up the cross and follow the Lord. As a Southern Baptist, I can't think of another theologian, of whatever denomination, that is more challenging and encouraging than Tom Wright. Buy it, but be prepared to keep your marker handy.
I didn't order this item.......2007-02-13
I don't know why I received this request for a review. I have not ordered "Following Jesus: Biblical Reflections on Discipleship" by NT Wright. I have only ordered Wright's "Simply Christian".
You appear to have a processing glitch somewhere.
Regards,
Sue Huntington
NT Wright.......2007-02-13
"Following Jesus" I found to be truly life giving. Especially, the chapter, "The God who raises the dead." Being able to review the balance I was trying to maintain between my fears and my faith is something I will keep for the rest of my life. The overview of several New Testament books caused me to say, 'Ah-ha, so that is what that book is about'. A most helpful book for the Retreat Center Library I maintain.
Snap shots of the Wright stuff.......2006-11-24
This is a book worth buying. It is not at all highly technical and anybody can read this work, but that does not at all mean that it is not informed by great scholarship. The book is divided into two sections. The first section is made up of small introduction to Hebrews, Colossians, Matthew, John, Mark, and Revelation. This fact alone makes the book worth buying, because Wright is extremly insightful.
The second part of the book is divided up into subjects. Most interestingly is that Wright deals with the subject of Hell. Again, if this were the only chapter in the book it would be worth buying. I do recommend this book, along with all of Wright's work.
Book Description
Pro InfoPath 2007 is an excellent book for developers trying to learn the scope and range of application forms that can be built with Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007. InfoPath is now in its 2nd generation and it enables the creation of rich desktop and web forms using XML technologies and allows gathering of structured, business-critical information. Together with Microsoft Windows SharePoint Server 2007, InfoPath allows built-in integration with back-end processes, databases, and work flow, and provides developers with rich tools to build enterprise-wide forms solutions.
During the development and stabilization phase of InfoPath 2007, Philo worked closely with the product team to testfeatures, provide feedback on scenarios, and to build and apply solutions for the government and public sector. He haspoured all that experience in an engaging manner into this book--a great read for every developer trying to learnInfoPath.
— Kamaljit Bath, Principal Program Manager Lead, Microsoft Office InfoPath and Forms Services
InfoPath enables users to design forms and publish them for use by other users. It combines the ease of use of Access forms with the enterprise scalability of a network-based platform. Microsoft's goal with InfoPath is to get form design and maintenance out of the IT shop and onto the desktop, while maintaining the power of connecting to web services or a SQL Server. Since InfoPath is wholly XML-based, it is easy to introduce it into a heterogeneous enterprise environment -- via web services InfoPath can act as the interface for any back end system. InfoPath 2007, coupled with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, adds the ability to deploy InfoPath forms in a web browser with no client side application. SharePoint and Office 2007 have leveraged InfoPath in many other ways -- making InfoPath forms part of the workflow engine embedded in SharePoint, and using InfoPath forms to capture and maintain arbitrary metadata in Office documents.
Pro InfoPath 2007 was written so that developers can read it as an introduction to InfoPath 2007, as well as use it as a reference for common tasks. Targeted at developers, power users should also find a lot of value in this book to learn how to design and use forms in InfoPath.
This book will show form designers how to:
- Use InfoPath to fill in electronic forms
- Design and publish forms
- Connect to data sources to read and publish data
- Design and leverage the power of InfoPath views
- Work with SharePoint form libraries to get the most out of InfoPath form data
- Import existing Word and Excel forms into InfoPath
- Create workflows with SharePoint Designer
- Work with digital signatures
In addition, developers will learn how to:
- Create an InfoPath form template based on a data connection or web service
- Publish InfoPath form templates as content types
- Create custom task panes for InfoPath forms
- Understand SharePoint information management policies
- Write .Net code behind InfoPath forms and browser forms
- Create an add-in to extend the capabilities of InfoPath
- Create a custom workflow for SharePoint, embedding InfoPath forms for gathering information
- Build a .Net web service that InfoPath can connect to
- Use Altova's XMLSpy to work with InfoPath form templates
Customer Reviews:
"Pro InfoPath 2007" useful for technical and business people alike.......2007-09-09
There are all too many technical books that are heavy on theory and light on "how to", or start out in an introductory fashion and then suddenly venture into highly technical territory without including the necessary background information needed to understand the content.
In "Pro InfoPath 2007", Philo Janus neatly avoids these pitfalls. Since he's writing about a product with whom most readers may not be familiar, he first answers the vital question, "What IS InfoPath?" with a comprehensive introduction to the product. Then Janus carefully outlines the capabilities of InfoPath and walks the reader through the steps necessary to create InfoPath forms in all kinds of environments; how to meet business needs in a myriad of situations; and most importantly, includes possible issues and limitations that one might encounter when using InfoPath and provides the necessary workarounds.
My own company has InfoPath installed but despite an enterprise-wide need for exactly what InfoPath does, is resistant to its use because of a fundamental lack of understanding of the software and how to best deploy it. A read of this book would convince them that they have a good product sitting on the shelf that would meet their needs and interface neatly with Sharepoint and other applications already in use.
Thumbs up to Philo Janus for a job well done.
Again a lot of sales hype.......2007-09-07
Microsoft writes a lot of sales hype about how terrific a product is but rarely explains what a product can and cant do. After days of asking I have yet to find out what Infopath exactly does and what it is capable of. We have documents in our office. It would be a blessing if people could go to our website fill out a form and then email the data to us so that we could then merge that data into a word document. Simply recieve an email in outlook after a client has input data on our website and then merge the data into word.
It looks as if Infopath might do that function but most people have never even heard of the product although it has existed since 2003.
After days on the internet I have yet to discover if this product can do that or exactly what product could do that. Infopath is not a popular product because of just that reason it is a mystery full of mis-information. Why is it we have to buy a book or buy a product to determine whether or not we need it??? I wish that the author (and Micro soft) would explain exactly what Infopath does and what we would be taught. I wont buy the product or read the book if you cant determine what I am about to learn, what it offers or why I need it.
A Jump Start to Building InfoPath Solutions!.......2007-08-06
This tiny book, in comparison with other technical manuals, is a fantastic way to get up to speed with InfoPath in a very short time. I'd never had the opportunity to work with InfoPath before, until my company decided to implement MOSS 2007 with InfoPath Forms services. I bought this book and in a few short days we were churning out InfoPath business solutions.
This book is an easy weekend read and then you are ready to go!
Really good book. A+++++++++++.......2007-07-30
This book is just great. Good coverage in around 300 pages. I totally dislike huge development books that just harp around. This book covers all the necessary topics with examples... A++++++++++++++++ for Philo Janus
This is a great book........2007-04-27
If you are doign anything with InfoPath 2007 then get this book!!! This book is an easy and informative read. The author even tries to make it his goal that this can be a weekend read. Not like your typical mind numbing rehash of the tech manuals. Philo not only describes what InfoPath 2007 is but gives real example that you can take into work.

Book Description
Jen Lancaster was living the sweet life-until real life kicked her to the curb.
She had the perfect man, the perfect job-hell, she had the perfect life-and there was no reason to think it wouldn't last. Or maybe there was, but Jen Lancaster was too busy being manicured, pedicured, highlighted, and generally adored to notice.
This is the smart-mouthed, soul-searching story of a woman trying to figure out what happens next when she's gone from six figures to unemployment checks and she stops to reconsider some of the less-than-rosy attitudes and values she thought she'd never have to answer for when times were good.
Filled with caustic wit and unusual insight, it's a rollicking read as speedy and unpredictable as the trajectory of a burst balloon.
Customer Reviews:
Bitter Is Totally My Style.......2007-09-17
I enjoyed Lancaster's writing style, as I am a fan of snarkiness, bitchiness, and cynicism. However, about three quarters of the way through the book, it started to drag and all of the whining and complaining and bitching did begin to get to me. I started skimming a bit, eager to get to the end of this tale that probably could have done without 50 or so pages.
There were times while reading the book that her spoiled, rich girl/sorority girl, utter obliviousness with regards to manners, money, or tact attitude grated on me. However, her ability to make fun of herself for who she was and to reassure us of how far she has come and what a humbling experience she had kept me from disliking her. I actually would love to have martinis with her and make fun of people.
On the whole, I found Lancaster to be refreshing, fun, and easy to read and relate to.
Bitter I Bought It!.......2007-09-12
I made the big mistake of bringing ONLY this book on a Transatlantic flight. It turned out to be more annoying than the screaming baby sitting next to me! It read like a bad blog from a very unfunny, fat ex-high-school Thespian. I dragged myself through the first half, and then threw this waste of paper away. I instantly felt guilty, as the airplane lavatory was too fine a receptacle to be expected to hold this trash! Want funny? Read David Sedaris, Bill Bryson or even Nabokov. Skip this pabulum.*
*By the way, Jen, I also HATED the humor-free footnotes!
Someone owes David Sedaris an apology.......2007-08-17
Part of the reason I picked up this book was a quippy little review that said: "Jen Lancaster is like David Sedaris with pearls and a supercute handbag." Usually I try to avoid purchasing decisions based on marketing ploys that follow the line of 'if you like X, you'll love Z', but I AM a Sedaris lover, and I WAS in the mood for a laugh-out-loud funny read, and to that end Mr. Sedaris has never disappointed. But someone owes Mr. Sedaris an apology. The comparison is so far off-base, I think I would have rather spent the afternoon reading 200+ pages of Mr. Sedaris' thoughts ABOUT pearls and handbags, rather than Bitter is the New Black. Most of the major flaws of the book and the writing style have already been covered by other reviewers. Yes, Jen Lancaster is not nearly as amusing, witty, or clever as she thinks she is. Much of what we're supposed to consider humorous seems simply to be re-worked jokes and tired stereotypes we've all seen and heard before. Has this narrator really changed by the end of the book? Where are the moments of introspection, of realization that make us understand she's changed? The moments of true regret that finally win us over to her side, make us actually like and root for her, make us forget how jaw-grindingly irritating she is in the beginning? She never seems to dig deep enough, never goes beyond the obvious, never reveals enough of herself, or shares her true vulnerability with the reader to redeem herself, and thus, we don't really care all that much about her and instead tend to simply agree with the blurb on the book's cover: The [...] had it coming. Indeed.
She begins, for a few scant pages at the very end, to share the true source of her misguided materialism and and to show us the insecure girl from Indiana, but as soon as she touches on something real or tender, the book is over. We can all see through the bombastic personality and hipper-than-thou superiority from the beginning and recognize it right away for what it is: deep seeded insecurity and fear. The only problem is that Jen never QUITE admits it out loud, to us, her reader, and we're left wondering if everyone knows it but her.
What simultaneously disappoints and infuriates me is the sheer lack of polish and skill on these pages. Relying on cutesy 'footnotes', reprints of emails and weblog submissions seems to indicate a laziness on the part of the author, or more likely, a lack of confidence and undeveloped skill. She ardently professes her desire to "be a writer" and yet throughout the book I find myself thinking: then work on your craft! Where is the editor? Who let her publish this material in this form? This is the fifth sentence in this chapter that isn't even gramatically correct.' Some make the arguement that because it's "memoir" and not "fiction" the author is allowed free reign to write how she pleases. There are plenty of well-crafted memoirs that showcase beautiful prose, accomplished storytelling, and impeccable form, and are stitched together with threads so fine you never see the writer's handiwork at all.
Instead, this is another case of a would-be writer throwing together some thoughts, cocktail party chatter, mildly interesting anecdotes, a couple of blog posts, and assembling it under the guise of a book. You can practially see Ms.Lancaster furiously pecking away at her laptop in a rush to get her manuscript to her publisher, all the while wondering "who will play me in the movie?"
And to the protesters who argue, "But this is Chic-lit. It's supposed to be light, fluffy, and mindless," I agree, there's nothing like an enjoyable piece of fluff. And the best kind of fluff is good, strong story-telling at its finest. I'm so tired of picking up books lately, expecting a good read only to get 250 pages of bad, unskilled writing by "writers" who don't even seem to respect their reader enough to work hard at perfecting their craft. Blurting out your inner-thoughts and throwing them down on the page does not make you interesting, witty, deep, and least of all, it doesn't make you a writer. Please, you seem like you might actually have something to say. Work hard at improving your storytelling, because after another book or two, this one-note song will be over.
FUNNIEST. BOOK. EVER........2007-08-14
This was a book chosen for one of my book clubs. I loved it SO much I recommended it to my OTHER book club! I laughed so much I wet my pants! Tragic, but FUNNY!
Genius!.......2007-08-13
Very few books make me laugh uncontrollably, but this spectacular trip into narcissism made the list. The best part (aside from the side-splitting, completely unforgiving, honest humor) is that Jen is a terrific writer who respects grammar while casually departing from convention (footnotes? brilliant.) on a regular basis. This is a quick, easy read for the very busy who need to unwind and laugh...a lot.
