PDR.......2007-10-10
The PDR for years has been an easy way to review drugs. This addition is no different...an excellent reference for those interesting is reviewing old drugs or learning about a new drug.
BEWARE - contains 2006 PDR on CD, NOT 2007 PDR CD.......2007-09-11
This was published before the 2007 PDR on CD was available. If you want the more up-to-date 2007 PDR on CD, instead get the PDR Electronic Library 2007 on CD. Amazon has it for $59.99 which is 40% off listed price! The 2007 PDR Electronic Library has the full 2007 PDR + PDR Nonprescription Drugs/Dietary Supplements + PDR Ophthalmic Medicines + PDR Drug Interactions/Side Effects all fully integrated on one CD. So it is much more up-to-date and much more comprehensive and much more portable!
2007 Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) Review.......2007-06-08
I purchased the 2007 Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) as a Mother's Day 2007 gift for my Mom. My Mom is a nurse, and she has been a nurse for almost 55 years now. She is 71. Mom had not had an updated PDR in close to 10 years, so I got her a new one.
Medical Treasure!.......2007-05-09
This book is absolutely essential if you want to keep up with the newest in medicines, diseases, cures, and much more! It is the same book you see on your physicians desk and the same one I have saw my physician flip through when he needs to look something up!
Don't miss your opportunity to own a copy because you will not be sorry!
P.S. Ideal for nurses, CNA'S, physicians assistants, and others in the medical field that wants to be updated regularly.
Know What You Buy.......2007-02-13
The PDR is commonly thought to be a complete drug reference. While the strength of the PDR is that it includes complete FDA approved prescribing information for the drugs inside, the weakness is that the drugs it includes is not comprehensive. The publisher depends on drug manufacturers to provide the information that is included in each edition. For this reason, new drugs almost always are included; however, older drugs that are beyond their patent life may not be included.
Further, the PDR only includes FDA approved information. As any Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner or Pharmacist knows, off label drug use is common. If a medical professional is looking for a printed drug reference that is truly comprehensive, look for Drug Facts and Comparisons or AHFS Drug Information. If one is looking for a handbook, consider Lexi-Comp Drug Information, AHFS Essentials, or Drug Facts and Comparisons Pocket Edition.

Customer Reviews:
Very Helpful Book.......2007-06-11
This is a very helpful book and convenient also. Fits on desk well or can carry with you.
The Spiral Binding Justifies the Cost.......2007-05-02
This is a great little book to have when searching for the criteria to diagnose and/or find the pathology to an individual's mental health status. This book is an abridged version of the DSM-IV-TR, meaning that a great deal of information isn't included. However, it is a desk friendly, light weight and includes most key elements. The unabridged version of the DSM-IV-TR could kill a dinosaur, so this book for regular use is much more practical.
As for the spiral binding it is awesome, it allows the reader to flip back and forth and find the mood disorder, personality disorder, etc. very quickly. The book is a bit expensive (but then again what isn't?), but if the information will be utilized, it is well worth it.
Great help for diagnostic purposes........2007-03-11
The spiral bound copy of DSM-IV-TR is handy for carrying in a briefcase. This makes it useful wherever a counselor has therapy sessions.
Long Way Home.......2007-03-08
The book arrived in good shape but it seemed to take several weeks to arrive. I ordered other items at the same time that were shipped by another vendor and they arrived in a day or so. I thought Amazon would be much better than an obscure company, but I was wrong. I would never order a book again, since I can go to a bookstore and have it in an hour.
Don't Leave Home Without It........2007-01-20
Whoever thought to tame the massive DSM-IV-TR beast and put it into this handy, hand-held spiral format is a genius. This book has everything a busy clinician needs right at his/her fingertips.
DSM classification chart, differential diagnosis decision tree, and a listing of the DSM-IV-TR appendixes make this handy little resource worth the price of admission.
One cavaet: the clinician needs a fairly good working knowledge of "the big book" if this resource is to be of any clinical benefit, dare I say, if it is to be used responsibly. Think of this book as the Cliffs notes, and the actual DSM as the main text.
I have used this book so much that, if it were not for the fact that it is spiral bound, the spine would have been worn out by now.
A truly brilliant idea!

Customer Reviews:
love it.......2007-09-27
this book is great. i'm in vet school and it describes everything perfectly and is very easy to understand.
Excellent Resource!.......2007-03-21
This book gives all the information you will need about each drug, it's approved use, approved dosages, and different forms for each species.
A "must have" resource for any serious breeder!
Excellent quality, excellent service.......2007-03-20
The book I received was in mint condition and 1/2 off the "new" cover price! It arrived in a timely manner and I've made great use of it.
I will absolutely order from this vendor again!
Review of Plumb's Veterinary Handbook.......2007-03-09
This is a very detailed text on medicines used in many different animal species, and so is a very useful reference when working with unfamiliar medicines or unfamiliar species.
Very informative.......2007-02-19
This book breaks down hundreds of drugs so that you understand what they are, how they are used, what dosages, etc. Most every drug you can think of is in here. Each medication has at least one full page dedicated to it. The only drawback I have seen is that some of the drugs have secondary effects, and have been used specifically for those effects, but that is completely overlooked. All in all, if you want to delve deeper into what you are giving your animals, or want to know more about what you should be giving your animals, this is the book for you. I also highly reccomend the Merck Veterinary handbook as these two work very well together.

Customer Reviews:
Office for Dummies 2003 helpful but not all inclusive.......2007-04-04
This book certainly has value, but fails to fulfill expectations beyond the basic use of the various programs. There were many helpful tips, but for an advanced user, this book is not the answer. It is perfect for a beginner or early intermediate user of the programs and is a good reference for a person just getting started on these programs.
Office 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies.......2007-04-02
I bring the book with me to work and when I don't know how to perform a task with windows, the book walks me through it. It is a wonderful book to keep on my desk as well as help at home.
Excellent book teaches you the essentials and more!.......2007-03-26
I got this book really to learn more about Excel and Access, but I ended up reading the whole thing. I find it works best if you have the programs open and you can practice doing the things the author mentions in the book. As far as Excel goes, I've just about mastered that program after reading the section on it. At work I've put everything on spreadsheets now and it's made my life a whole lot easier!
At first I wasn't going to read the sections on Word or Outlook because I've been using those programs for many years and felt like I already knew everything. However, after reading the sections I was surprised by how much I didn't know. And how I had been doing things the 'hard way' because I was unaware of all the little short cuts and tricks. I highly recommend this book. I was able to go through 2 sections a day, so it took me less then a week to become proficient at Microsoft Office Suite.
Much helpful information.......2006-11-03
It has a lot of useful information on Word, Outlook and Windows XP. It usually always has the answer to any questions I have on these items. It is a great reference to have with our computers.
Invaluable Resource.......2006-06-29
This book has been every thing I had hoped it would be...an invaluable reference to have at one's elbow for quick help!

Customer Reviews:
Worth Getting.......2007-05-13
I found myself suddenly needing to use Access for analysis that was way too big to do in Excel (comparing data sets from 3 sources with ~800K records each). I really knew nothing about Access. Between this book and the internet I have become very proficient in Access. I practically slept with the book for a week. I now find I don't need it and have lent it to a co-worker.
Great book for filling in the blanks.......2007-05-13
I've had limited exposure to Access before reading this book, and I found it fantastic for filling in the blanks in my knowledge. Access is complicated enough that, for true beginners, it would probably be more helpful to get a book that comes with a CD of examples and walk-throughs. But if you have a handle on the basics, I'd highly recommend this book.
Mostly Worthless.......2007-04-25
Most of the examples and/or instructions do not work correctly when applied to an actual database.
ACCESS Dummies book is good..........2007-02-21
I am pretty good with computers and figuring out new software. This book had decent basic explanations of the functions & tools, but I had to review the book several times to figure out how to link Tables, and I still couldn't figure it out. I looked on Microsoft.com/Access at their Access database Templates to see how tables are linked together (see the Contact Management Database - its fantastic !) and had to look at each individual table & form to figure out how tables relate to each other in order for them to be linked... and I still couldn't quite figure it out.
The disappointing part about the book is that in order for ACCESS to really work for you, you need to understand how to link tables and the book was just not that helpful in that area.
I'm glad I have the book, however, it does help with many other basic things, but I would imagine you'd have to get someone to sit down and show you how to link tables in order for you to grasp the concept of it. To me, its like 3-dimensional thinking - and that's a bit too mind numbing for me to figure out on my own.
Microsoft Office Access 2003.......2006-11-07
Excellent book. Easy to follow; includes lots of cross-references.
It's helped me to improve my database building capabilities.

MCDST 70-272 Book.......2007-08-23
This book, combined with the 70-271, and the practice exams included on the CD's were the best resource in helping to understand and pass the exam. Even more so then class time!
Shipping stinks.......2007-05-14
The item I received was in good shape, but it arrived over a week after Amazon's date of arrival. There is no reason why an item should arrive a week late.
Good As A Reference Guide As Well...........2007-04-18
I've been an A+ Certified Technician since 2001, but this book really gave me the edge I needed to fully understand more about Windows XP Pro and Microsoft Office hands-on installations, configurations, troubleshooting, securing and networking with other computers in a corporate setting.
I haven't taken the test for MCP yet, but this volume certainly has me ready to do so any day now, if you're looking to learn Windows XP Pro and MS Office 2003, drop everything you're reading and buy this book, and also, keep it real handy after you are "done" studying it, because is very useful as a reference book as well. I Hope this review will be helpful.
Bloody awesome.......2006-05-13
I took my test today and came close to maxing out, 972....study hard the reviews at the end of the book. When taking the test, read the questions AND answers carefully, kind of like the old school days, an answer may "look" right but it could be one word off. Keep the books, don't resell them, I've already gone back into 70-271 and reviewed a few things. handy to have on hand when you deal with it every day. Very thorough in my opinion. Just a humble IT geek working on his certs.....
WOW Great deal and Super Helpful.......2006-05-09
I just took this certification and found out that some of test questions were the same as the back of this book. If you go through the test bank in the back of the book and go through the lessons your sure to pass. The book also comes with 180 day trials of xp pro sp2 and office 2003 professional. Not to meantion you get a voucher for 15% off the exam. I will warn you that some of the exam questions are very easy and others are super tricky.

good resource.......2007-09-29
I purchased this book to use to get acquainted with my new vista software. It helped me to solve some small inital problems. But as I read through the book it showed me lots of ways to make my computer work better for me. It is a great reference book. It is something I will pick up and check as I continue to work with vista.
Windows Vista users Must Have.......2007-08-04
This book is a must have for Windows Vista users. It is literally 9,yes,9 books in one! It is great!!! It tells you everything you need to know, and otherwise would have no way of knowing,by the way, about Windows Vista and all its vast programs and files. It will serve as an invaluable desk reference and no doubt anyone could benefit from it. It is very user friendly and written in layman's terms. Very Good!
Mac OS 10 to Vista.......2007-06-11
I am a long time Mac user and have just moved to Windows. This book was a big help and I highly recommend it. The index is great if you don't want to read from cover to cover.
Something for everyone.......2007-05-31
I am more than satisfied with the content of this book; not only is it written in "user friendly" language, it helped me to understand three different items of concern. There are chapters I probably will not use; but I have already turned to it many times as a reference. I don't believe you could be disappointed in the information.
One of the best Dummies so far.......2007-05-23

Great Reference Book!.......2007-08-13
Being new to any Microsoft Office product, when I purchased Office 2007, I was pretty lost. Microsoft's on-line tutorials were useless, so I purchased Office 2007 for Dummies, thinking I would use it mostly as a reference. It was so well written and easy to understand, I actually read the entire book, and am looking forward to using Publisher and Power Point (I initially purchased Office for Word and Excel). I found working with Office 2007 easy after reading this book, and have had to utilize the book as a reference very minimally. Utilizing the table of contents and index, I can quickly locate what I am looking for. I am sure this book saved me hours of frustration by laying out the concept behind the Office 2007 design, and showing me how to quickly hunt for commands that I know are there (from reading about them in the book). I am sure my learning time was greatly reduced. Great job Peter Werverka!
All in One Desk Reference for Dummies-Office 2007.......2007-07-29
Excellent reference guide for the new Microsoft Office 2007. Without it I would have been stumbling around trying to figure out some of the functions as this new edition is very different.
Great Product!.......2007-07-10
Mail delivery was faster than I thought - and the reference book is being used every day. The manual we got with the program did not explain half of what I needed and this reference is easy and fast!
Extremely Helpful Book!.......2007-06-26
The Office 2007 All-In-One Desk Reference for Dummies is very helpful for someone trying to weather the transition from previous versions of Microsoft Office to the new Microsoft Office 2007. This book not only covers common office applications, but gets into more detail for each program (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, etc.) I would highly recommend this book to anyone who needs an easy-to-follow guide to the new software.
good reference for Office 2007.......2007-06-02
I don't consider myself a "dummie" but this was the 1st book of the dummies series that I have purchased. I purchased it to get acquainted with the new features in Office 2007.
I like the fact that the book has so much information on all the programs in Office 2007; tips, reminders, and warnings.
I won't sit and read the entire book but see using it as I take on projects using the new programs. I did not purchase the on-line version but I am considering that option so I can access the information even when I am at school/work.

Good read for entry level help desk technicians wanting certification.......2007-09-27
Being a CompTIA A+ Certified Technician myself, I am aware of the formatting and types of questions asked on the test. Because I have help desk technicians reporting to me, it's vital I find a complete resource for them as they progress in their careers.
After looking over the content and material, this is one of the two books I recommend to look over for the exam.
A+, Knowledge we should all have.......2007-09-19
If you are either going for your A+ Certification or need a good reference book on computers and how they are put together, this is it. The cd exam which is included could have been designed a little better but it is "The Test". The book is written so you don't have to read the whole thing to get the information you are looking for. Nicely done.
A lot of information, but a lot of help..........2007-08-31
There is certainly a lot of information in this book, and it certainly helps that the writers sort of refresh your memory as you go along. The "For The Exam" tips help a lot as well and give the reader a nice focus area for studying outside the contents of the book.
The only real problem I have with the book itself is there are a couple of spelling mistakes here and there, and I tend to be very critical of the materials I read, so noticing things like that in a publication such as this dishearten me slightly.
As I said before however, the information contained within the book is very useful and is certainly helping me gain some grounds on my A+ Certification preparations!
Gift.......2007-08-29
This book was a gift for someone interested in this subject. The recipient appeared to be very pleased with the topics of content -- and will use it to further his studies in hardware systems.
My son loved it........2007-07-16
I actually purchased this item for my son who is learning about the computer from a friend. This is the book his friend recommended who is an expert in this field. My son is very happy with this book that breaks down in layman terms what you need to know about the computer. My son also mentioned that the tests at the end of each lesson lets him know just how well he is comprehending what he is reading. He loves it.
Book Description
When you think of number-crunching and spreadsheets, you think of Excel, right? After Word, it’s the most popular program in the Microsoft Office suite. But if technical jargon isn’t your first language, you may have found Excel just a teeny bit frustrating. It can be really hard to pick your way through the many features and make Excel do what you need for it to do.
Once you know how, you can use Excel to
- Create fill-in-the-blank forms
- Prepare expense reports and invoices
- Manage all sorts of data
- Keep sales and inventory records
- Analyze financial data and create forecasts
- Present information in charts and graphs
Excel 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies tames the Excel monster. Nine minibooks break things down into manageable, logical sections covering the basics, worksheet design, formulas and functions, worksheet collaboration, charts and graphics, data management, data analysis, working on the Web, and tweaking Excel with a programming language called Visual Basic for Applications, or VBA. In the friendly, plain-English For Dummies style, this book makes it easy to find what you’re looking for and get instructions for doing what you need to do. You’ll be able to
- Find your way around Excel’s menus, toolbars, and dialog boxes, and access online help
- Format a professional-looking spreadsheet that presents data the way you choose
- Edit an existing spreadsheet without disturbing its design or contents
- Build Excel formulas and use built-in functions to produce the calculations you want
- Share spreadsheet data with other people and programs, and collect comments
- Create great-looking charts and find out how to choose the right format to display your data effectively
- Use Excel to maintain large amounts of data, then filter the data to extract the information you need
- Publish spreadsheets and charts on the Web in HTML format
- Explore ways to customize Excel with VBA
Best of all, it’s easy to find what you need in Excel 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference For Dummies. Before you know it, you’ll discover you’ve developed a friendship with Excel that will make your life easier, boost your business, and impress your friends!

No examples.......2007-05-21
I've read quite a few computer how-to books. I prefer to learn by example, which this book offers very little of. Rather than showing you how to do something, this book tells you how to do it in a long drawn out process.
I could not figure out how to use the advanced filter command with this book. I checked out the Excel 2003 Bible from the library and I was able to use this feature within 5 minutes. Do not buy this book!
Excel 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies.......2005-09-26
Excel 2003 All-in-One Desk Reference for Dummies is a great overall book for Excel 2003. It will get you going on Excel 2003 even if you have a minimal amount of experience in Excel. Introduces you to formulas, charts, pivot tables and other subjects that most people need in order to fully utilizing the power of Excel. Written very well and easy to understand.
Not for beginners and not for reference.......2005-03-26
I rate this book poor. It is badly laid out. Unless you already know how to use Excel, this book would be of no value to you. It's impossible to find anything, and not enough relevent illustrations. The For Dummies series is off my list of reference books. Save your money.
There's tons of useful information in this book........2003-10-25
I use Excel at work all the time and this book is always within an arm's reach. The formulas and functions chapters are especially helpful -- as are the ones on PivotTables, building Macros, and sharing data with other programs. If you're only going to buy one book on Excel, buy this one!
