5 out of 5 stars Highly Researched A Feng Shui Classic! 10 Stars!.......2003-05-09

Stephanie Roberts covers it all in this easy to follow, simple, yet profoundly workable Feng Shui classic.

Many of the other books on Feng Shui are complex, which is fine, if you are a Feng Shui expert. However, if you truly want Feng Shui to WORK in your life, and you don't want to take years of courses on the subject, the author provides all of the answers in a simple, beautifully formatted book that I will certainly turn to time and time again.

Stephanie Roberts is an expert in this field - this book will bring you all you need to clear your life, and create space for everything you desire to enter. Highly Recommended!

A. To correct mistakes committed in various Feng Shui books presently on the market so that the readers can avoid abusing Feng Shui and being victimized.

B. To help readers to discern real professional Feng Shui practitioners from imposters, evaluate their competence and knwledge of Feng Shui, and meanwhile, stop hooking Feng Shui up with superstition, mystique and religion.

C. To apply the knowledge in this book as fundamentals to initiate extensive interest and research, to promote Feng Shui as a precious ancient natural science, and finally, to utilize Feng Shui to the extent of benefiting all mankind.

4 out of 5 stars A Very Good Textbook.......2005-10-18

This is a very helpful book for those who want to learn more of the core facts about Feng Shui. There is a lot of confusion out there about Feng Shui and it almost appears like it isn't a credible system, but Master Sang sets the records straight about what's what. My husband had hard time believeing in Feng Shui and was calling it a "superstition" untill I got the facts straight from this book and explained it to him. It all actually makes sense to me now. Thank you Master Sang for writing this book.

5 out of 5 stars All the facts and none of the fantasy.......2005-03-19

The first thing you will notice if you are wanting to study 'feng shui' , is the sheer volume of publications available. Browse any book shop or 'new age' centre and you will undoubtedly see shelves upon shelves of books 'claiming' to be written by 'masters' and claiming to offer you a 'quick fix' to increase both your wealth and happiness by 'apparently' using the ancient art of Chinese Geometry (feng shui) - hang a wind chime here, a mirror there, add a bowl of water and BINGO! health, wealth and happiness are sure to follow.... Hmmm! Really?! Ever wondered why they never worked, ever wondered why they are rather thin on actual facts and formulas ('feng shui' is a science after all) - well the reason is that when the 'feng shui' badwagon rolled into town, every hippy-dippie and their wife, mother or cousin who had an inclin towards; crystals, new-age or the occult was there waving their flag ang joining in. Hence forth soon you couldn't see the real for the false, the masters for the charlatans, and all confusion broke out. The people you were inviting in to 'read' your homes were largely un-qualified or possessed the mere basics, and so their 'cures' seldom worked. Step forth 'modest' Master Larry Tsang to put things straight. I am not saying that if you are of Asian descent you know more that 'westerners' - not at all, but what I am saying is bring forth a modest man, immensely knowlegable, a man who understands this science inside out, back to front AND upside down, see a man such as this and you KNOW he speaks and writes the truth.
There are VERY vew people on this earth who can claim to be really such an authority on 'feng shui' as to actually write a book on the subject. I mean how many people are really capable of writing a chemistry text, or a physics one? very few I suppose. So then why is it SO MANY people think they have a right to offer their thoughts on this ancient Chinese science? As Loa Tse says in the Dao De Ching 'He who does not know speaks, and he who does not speak knows'.
The first thing you will notice when you open Master Sang's book, is that there are no colour photos, no windchimes, no pictures of old Chinese people practicing 'Tai Chi Chuan' nor any smiling couples holding babies. 'Feng shui' is a SCIENCE and so this looks like what it should, a 'science' text book. Besides that difference you will also note that this book contains information, not tall stories and myths. It contains formulas, calculations, charts, tables and CLEAR, succint explanations that will empower you to be able to read your own home, and furthermoor, UNDERSTAND it, it's problems and most importantly it's REMEDIES. This book is a full-on, no holes barred 'feng shui' experience and I admit that if you aren't used to reading very 'academic' texts you WILL need to go back through it, and through it and through it before the penny drops, but once it has dropped, you will begin to see for YOURSELF, how all the things fit together, and you will begin to see how just about all the other books are pure fable.
As I said, although the book is very clear and logical, it is pretty tough going, simply because of the sheer volume of the information you have to take in.

One final thing is that, as this text forms part of the curriculum of the America Feng Shui Institute http://www.amfengshui.com if you check that site you will find all manner of extra explanations and notice boards where you can learn or clarify questions you have, you can even study 'on-line' to further increase your knowledge and understanding. I wonder how many other so called 'feng shui' masters or teachers can lay claim to such dedication or motivation to spread the word of 'feng shui'?

2 out of 5 stars ok but info is not organized well.......2004-07-10

The strength of this book is that it describes fairly well external features in the environment and how they affect the feng shui of the house. However this only covers eight mansion style, not flying star feng shui. The weakness of the book is that the information is not organized well and is confusing to decipher, especially if it is the first feng shui book you read. When so many other excellent books on compass feng shui are currently on the market there's little reason to consider getting this one.

5 out of 5 stars A primer for the confused............2003-08-22

I was very intimidated by the 'compass school' of feng shui (I had listened to too many of my new age friends who were looking for "quick" feng shui cures - ala Black Hat Sect philosophy.) but I didn't feel the 'bagua type' feng shui really worked for me. It seemed to be missing something. Finally, I picked up Master Sang's book and voila! I understood the basics of the 'compass school' feng shui!!!! This book spells it out in an easy to read manner - I can't believe how much it helped me in my feng shui studies! It is a great introduction to the art of traditional Chinese feng shui. I would recommend this book to every person interested in feng shui - it's clear, it's concise and best of all - it works!

1 out of 5 stars the principles of feng shui.......2002-01-11

this is the 2nd book i have read related to this subject and i found this one hard to understand. I don't have a LO Pan for one thing and the constant use of chinese symbols that i cannot read were unnecessary. I just found the whole thing confusing.

2 out of 5 stars It is not what I expected.......2006-07-18

I am going to build muy custom house and I want to do it according to the Feng Shui. I was expecting to find many Feng Shui floor plans samples...well let me tell you that not, it has not many Feng Shui floor plans, such a few, and most of them do not match what the book says. I mean that most of the foor plans are not according to Feng Shui bagua grid (occidental), i.e.: bathroom is Wealth area, when it is known in all schools that bathroom can't be placed there.
I found just 1 floor plan, so it is not worthly to get this book if you are looking for Feng Shui floor plans.

5 out of 5 stars The Best "Feng Shui" for ocidental people.......2006-02-20

The School of Pyramid Feng Shui is adapted to the ocidental people. No focus on directions belonging to an element or not. Is centered in the harmony of the nature cycles where all the elements of nature (colors, sounds, shapes, etc.)and people with their houses must achieved balance. Very good reading. With lots of questions and cases, thinking in all situations (a home for a familiy, for a couple, or just one person). If you liked, probably you'll buy (like me) the other book of Nancilee Wydra "Feng Shui goes to the office".

5 out of 5 stars Very nice!.......2004-05-19

This is a great book! It is not based on the traditional feng shui, but ascribes to pyramid feng shui. So if you are looking for why everyone in the house experiences the same illness that cropped up when you moved in, this may not fit the bill. But it addresses the flow of chi and the balance of yin/yang in detail. It is a great read and opens you up to the different sounds, textures, smells and visual apects of your home that makes a home interesting and appealing to everyone that experiences it. It literally brings your awareness to the fact that your home is a live energy.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource!.......2003-05-23

As a registered interior designer and certified Feng Shui professional, I found this book to be an interesting read. It will help designers and architects, as well as homeowners, analyze space and make informed decisions as to build or remodel. The charts are easy to follow and right on point. This book is filled with illustrations that are wonderful in demonstrating the ideas being presented. The "forward thinking" floorplans at the end of the book show that these two authors understand the diversity of how people live today and how their homes could be better designed to meet their needs.

5 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Building & Remodeling.......2003-04-02

I found this book to be a "must read" if you are planning to build or remodel and it is easy to understand. My husband and I are building a home and we found this book to be a vital resource for our decision making. It helped us select the outside colors, wall colors, flooring, lighting, window coverings, as well as furniture placement. In our meeting to finalize the floor plan with the builder, his wife was so impressed with our feedback and rationale that she asked me to get her the book!

4 out of 5 stars Different Strokes.......2006-09-05

There are many Religions and within these relions are different belief systems. Within my Christianity are many beliefs of Methodist, Baptist, Church of God, etc. Some believe that if you don't believe like they do you will go to hell. Everybody judging each other like God said not to. Well, what works for you won't work for others. Black Hat Feng Shui works for me because it is more sensible to follow in our day and time. How many people can change their location of their house because it isn't located properly on the property? With Black Hat there are cures. Sensible ones. Anyway, this book is great in breaking down feelings towards money and how you got in the state you are in with what you need to do to get out if it. I thought it was easy to understand and entertaining which makes it easy to understand.

5 out of 5 stars Substantial Book.......2006-02-10

I enjoyed this book. In a sea of simplistic feng shui books, this one was focused and detailed with a nice psychological twist. If you want a mix of psychology and feng shui you will like this book. Plenty of ideas and exercises to choose from - ones that are more feng shui oriented and ones that are more "self help" oriented. The author definitely took ideas from other books, but this was not a bad thing. I found it to be a mix of many ideas on prosperity creation.

2 out of 5 stars Another black hat feng shui trap.......2005-08-20

"Feng Shui and Money" would be more honest and better off leave OUT the so-called Feng Shui since the book far better as what it really is: A book written by a phychotherapist who basically uses a "soul searching" self-help approach to deal with and suface ones particularly more "negative" ideas about money.
The reader will do lots of journalling/writing, thinking through ones core issues, answering questions in the simple fill in the line manner to get to the heart of what ails or aids you where money/wealth is concerned.

The "Feng Shui" part of the book deals with the "Ba-gua" sections. The information is skimply and simplistic. On its own it would only amount to several pages not worth bothering with.

The author includes mantras, mudras, meditation, visualizations, and empressing energies into ones efforts. This is all good and fine on its own. It has been ADDED to Feng Shui..but its not part of the system of analysis of Feng Shui. Yet, its being marketed as such.

In the first week of the nine week "program" the author is already offering shallow "cures" and telling readers to apply them. Of course, theres no real mature explanation as to why or how these cures work or the deeper theory behind them...e.g:

"Hanging a small wind chime in the tai chi area (center of home) will intergrate the flow of chi for the entire home. Since the area is associated with the number 5, a wind chime with five metal tubes is ideal. By hanging a chime in this position you send a vibration that balances all the areas of the bagua at one time".

The tai-chi area of ones home could be the living room or the toilet!...It could be a back room some odd place. Then what!?. If there is no air; windows, or breeze then there are no moving of the chimes!. If the air; vibration hitting the metal is not strong enough or if the metal is of cheap quality...then there is NO vibration to go anywhere...much less "all the ba-gua at once". What if you live in a large space or a small tiny cramped apartment?. What size chime to use?. None of these issues or related are address in this book..so whats the point.

The author claims to make a living advising people..in person... in their home..yet writes nonsense.

The author advises for the Hsun area (aka..prosperity corner) to put fro e.g. nine plants, purple colors, mirrors, and water;fountains. What if this Hsun area is in the kitchen near the stove...or the area has no windows?.The use of his contant placing of mirrors and plants is cute to redundant. "Good Housekeeping" magazine does better!.

This book is rife with telling what to put in which area without much consideration to anything else.

The author repeats the generic "keep the bathroom door closed at all times". What if you have not windows or general ventilation in your bathroom?. Plants in the bathroom has its pros and cons...but without natural light and air..plus a perpetually closed door makes no sense for most plants..much less general unhealthy hygeine conditions. It makes less sense that such suggestion are doled out like candy; many authors never even address these issues.

One reviewer mentioned that author uses "authentic" feng shui terms. The author uses the chinese names each section of the ba-gua. The rest of the book is in plain english. There is nothing in this to be overwhelmed about.

There A LOT of things in this book that are NOT Feng Shui. Like "Moving Water Cures": call a certain number of people for a certain amount period of time and take on any invites. Maintain this and you'll be instantly popular..money will flow. Yes..to the phone company!. Actually this is really just socializing, networking; its someting teens do all the time...its NOT Feng Shui.

Another one of the authors suggestions is putting bowls of flowers around the house. This is nice. It could be one of grandmas things to do or "101 things to do to decorate or uplift your living space".

Balance and promoting beneficialness in ones life is what these things and Feng Shui have in common. Thus, certain activities or ideas have been INCORPORATED along side or with Feng Shui.. but they are NOT Feng Shui.

Feng Shui like Martial arts is a vast and whole study/world to itself with many areas of substudy. Bruce Lee reruns and Chuck Norris is NOT Martial Arts.

"Feng Shui and Money"..its strong point is as a money management helper book with a "spiritually" and "looking-within" type of approach.

If you are interested getting to your inner issues regarding money and wealth..with a holistic touch then get a book that frankly cuts to that chase. You can get this book of course but for any hope worthwhile Feng Shui instead of the "ancient chinese secrets" lure....look elsewhere.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent Book.......2004-12-01

Found the book to be very informative and helpful. You will need to realize that you will have to answer some hard questions about yourself in order to take full advantage of his insight. Definitely worth purchasing. However, be careful if you sign up for his conference call class. If you have a cell phone, you can not join in and you will not get your money refunded.

3 out of 5 stars You'll Need Patience and Persistence To Finish This Program.......2004-03-19

This author's approach to Feng Shui for prosperity cannot be described as "easy", but it is certainly thorough.

Each chapter covers different areas of your living space, and how you can transform them (for wealth) through the principals of feng shui.

In addition, each chapter includes different activities and meditations which are used along with the physical principals.

Finally, there is a summary at the end of each chapter, done checklist-style, to assist the reader in completing all the chapter's actions.

Though the book is well-written, the problem I had with it was this: the author's use of lots of (authentic) feng shui terms and language. This does NOT make for easy reading for anyone who is a beginner to the uses of Feng Shui.

Now, if you don't mind reading chapter after chapter filled with phrases like "Make one step every day toward the fulfillment of your Chen goal from your Dream Bagua", then you'll probably enjoy the book and get a lot out of it.

As for me, the struggle to keep on wading through the new-to-me language of Feng Shui convinced me that finishing the book would be worthwhile, but starting the program would not be.

I think a more mainstream use of language would have turned this book into a five-star read.

However, for the reasons given above, I can only rate the book three stars. I don't believe the average reader will even finish reading the book unless their interest in Feng Shui is VERY strong.

What are your Feng Shui elements?

Feng Shui is an ancient and proven system for balance and harmony. Billy Yamaguchi gives you everything you need to find out which Feng Shui elements are the strongest for you right now and how to choose the hairstyle, makeup and clothing that will bring out your true inner self.

--Figure out your elements from your lifestyle and personality --Find out whether you need to balance, harmonize or enhance your elements --Learn which hair lengths, cuts and highlights are the best for your elements and face shape --Discover the best makeup and hair color for your elements and skin tone

You'll end up with hair and makeup that reflect who you really are—your outer appearance will finally express your true self.

Most hairstylists are trained in a particular cut and give this same haircut to all of their clients, regardless of differences in lifestyle and personality. Now Billy Yamaguchi, internationally known hairstylist to the stars, helps you bring the principles of Feng Shui to your hairstyle, makeup and fashion, so your look will express your true self.

Using the five elements of Feng Shui—Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood—Billy shows you who you really are in the world, and then designs your haircut, color, makeup and fashion choices to really express your unique style.

For example, the Fire element tends to be passionate and adventurous, while the Metal element is more precise and goal oriented. While everyone has all five elements in their nature, two elements are predominant at any given time. Once you know what they are, your hairstyle, makeup and clothing can be used to enhance, balance or harmonize your elements. You've never felt so natural, comfortable and self-expressed in your own skin before.

For the first time, you will have a simple way to communicate your personality to your hairstylist and to figure out what makeup colors and fashion styles suit you best.

You've never felt so natural, comfortable and self-expressed in your own skin before!

4 out of 5 stars An extremely detailed book for those who have plenty of time.......2007-07-16

This is a very thorough book and certainly has some great ideas; however, for someone who doesn't have a lot of time, which means most people, I'm not sure if it is very practical. As a "water" myself, I can't fathom spending so much time and money on hair care and specific makeup. Also, what I still do not understand about so much beauty advice, is why we are still told that everyone fits into a basic "face shape" or "skin colour." I myself have an oval face that veers towards roundness, but when I'm thinner I have a much more oval face; also, not everyone who has a porcelain complexion (as I do, usually during winter) has blue or light-coloured eyes; there are plenty of women with dark eyes who have very pale skin too.

5 out of 5 stars a really awsome book.......2005-09-21

I AM A HAIRSTYLIST I HAD A REALLY GREAT TIME READING THIS BOOK . IT IS WRITTEN VERY WELL AND HAS GREAT INFORMATION FOR THE CONSUMER AND THE PROFESSIONAL.

5 out of 5 stars Refreshing Change.......2005-06-25

Billy Yamaguchi's Feng Shui Beauty is fabulous. It is so refreshing to see a stylist focus on each persons individual beauty. He takes peoples life styles and personalities into consideration, rather than just giving everyone hair styles that are "massed produced". My only concern is when would the majority of hair stylists "get it". I think filling out the personality questionaire before you get a "transformation" is a must every salon should do. Simple Feng Shui is a wonderful book. It gives you both a broad base for understanding what Feng Shui is and for realizing how you can use Feng Sui's concepts. This book also provides one with very clear direction on how to use Feng Shui to improve the balance, livability and character of one's home. The writing is deep without being pedantic and the approach brings much light to those of us who had not considered how to make our lives more balanced by improving our homes.

I've read many feng shui books, but this one is in a class of its own. Ms. Radaj communicates this difficult information in a way that everyone can understand and apply to their personal situation. The conversational style of hers is funny and informative and helps you to remember the concepts. What a great buy and reference on the subject.

      Book Description

Walking down the aisle is a given, but in which direction should the bride walk, what color should the flowers be, where should the guests sit? This is the perfect match: The bride and groom and feng shui! Apply the ancient Chinese discipline of thoughtfully arranging an environment to achieve the most positive effects for one of life's most important occasions. Create a harmonious atmosphere that will breathe love, passion, romance, success, and longevity into the upcoming union. Using this thoughtful little book, the couple can custom design their ceremony, based on the principles of feng shui, to infuse attributes like fertility, prosperity, and longevity into the union. Some examples:* Most weddings are bursting with joy and excitement. To help balance the active (yang) energy of a wedding, decorate with cascading flower arrangements or wear calming (yin) powder blue.* To ensure the energy of your wedding site is all your own, refresh its chi an hour or so before the ceremony. Ring a bell, tap a gong, dangle wind chimes, gently clap a pair of cymbals; any reverberating sound that pleases you can purify and renew chi.Feng Shui for the Perfect Wedding is full of simple suggestions to ensure the new couple's road to happiness is paved with peace, love, and contentment.
