Customer Reviews:
love it!!!!.......2007-10-11
I like her no nonsense help. I haven't even followed all her instructions yet because I'm a real hard case but even with just the begining steps my husband and family are noticeing a difference in my home already. I'm so glad I bought this book I can't wait to get her other books as well.
Fun but a little too compulsive........2007-10-04
I bought this for my daughter, to help her with her house, life, and anything else. I didn't want her to be insulted, so I read it and told her I bought it for me but thought she might like it too. It started out great, great ideas, funny, fun. But it got a little too over the edge....compulsive...neat freakish towards the end. I told my daughter to try to incorporate SOME of the Flylady's tips into her routine. She hasn't read it yet, but I'm hoping she learns something from it, because she is a very disorganized person. It seemed there were some discrepancies in the book about her life, which makes you feel she's making all of this up to make money, not to share her experience. Hopefully my daughter doesn't catch on to some of it.
Sink Reflections - Flylady - book.......2007-09-25
I loved this book and think it had great motivational ideas. Hopefully it will keep me encouraged to get organized and learn to FLY.
Boy do I need this book!!.......2007-09-13
I am starting to FLY, babysteps, but it is a beginning. It is way too fun! Can't wait to get on the live blog.
Convinced a skeptic.......2007-08-30
I've purchased all kinds of self-help books over the years, and this is the first book that I read, felt inspired, start doing just a couple of the steps right away, and felt an immediate difference in my life.
The FlyLady is not telling you something you don't know, but that's kind of how therapy works. I really felt that she could relate to me and the simple suggestions she makes work. I've only been doing it a couple of weeks, but already I am more inspired and my husband is too!

Book Description
The Bestselling Classic on Love, Loss, and Letting Go
In Necessary Losses, Judith Viorst turns her considerable talents to a serious and far-reaching subject: how we grow and change through the losses that are an inevitable and necessary part of life. She argues persuasively that through the loss of our mothers' protection, the loss of the impossible expectations we bring to relationships, the loss of our younger selves, and the loss of our loved ones through separation and death, we gain deeper perspective, true maturity, and fuller wisdom about life. She has written a book that is both life affirming and life changing.
Customer Reviews:
Good for everyone.......2007-05-15
Sometimes we wonder why life is so damn tough and sad and tragic. Well, this book doesn't help to answer those questions or to make it seem any better, but it does normalize all of those feelings, and it does explore all of the normal and necessary losses people experience in their lives. My therapist recommended it to me when my not-good-for-me boyfriend broke up with me and in turn, facilitated some of my personal growth and taught me to deal with some really hard feelings. I learned that losing him was necessary to my own well-being. This book is great for everyone.
Awesome!.......2007-05-12
The title caught my attention and I am so glad I bought it. Its one of the easiest books to read about moving on from losses and helps the reader understand that these losses are indeed, necessary. I have been a therapist for 15 years and have not come across such an engaging and practical book as this one. I myself am a slow reader but got through it in record time. Just do yourself and your loved ones a favor by reading this book!
Necessary losses.......2007-03-20
Great book, but you need to take a break now & then..its heavy going and CAN bring up your "stuff" my therapist recommended it...but even she admits that you need to read it slowly..and maybe a few times. It makes a lotta sense.
Deal With Losses.......2007-02-07
I first bought this book over 20 years ago when I got divorced, and it helped me deal with that event as a loss. Frankly, I hadn't even realized that it even was a loss until I read Viorst's wonderful book. I was able also to reach back and deal with the death of my parents, the losses inherent in growing into middle age, and other things . . . even losing my first girl friend.
Since then I have given this book to numerous friends who have had to deal with losses. I hope that they put the book back into full print as it should be required reading for just about everyone.
Necessary Losses.......2007-01-10
First of all, I am a child and adult psychoanalyst and as it happens Mrs. Viorst (a free-lance writer of, among other things, childrens books) was invited by the institute who trained me in Child Psychoanalysis to be a "lay" student-- meaning not medically professional-to participate in the training which was one of the best at that time in child developmental psychoanalytic theory and practice. It was a committment by this author which spanned several years and a very extensive and intensive experience. this book was a distillation of many elements of that program as seen by this very "clear" competent writer. I have given this book to many people and bought this one to replace one of my daughter's copies. It is an indepth look at psychological developement and especially the mother-child relationship (or Object relationships) and was on the New York Times best seller list for many months. It is still very relevent and well-worth the current new and used price.

Book Description
In his widely acclaimed To End All Wars, Thomas Knock provides an intriguing, often provocative narrative of Woodrow Wilson's epic quest for a new world order. The account follows Wilson's thought and diplomacy from his policy toward revolutionary Mexico, through his dramatic call for "Peace without Victory" in World War I, to the Senate's rejection of the League of Nations. Throughout Knock explores the place of internationalism in American politics, sweeping away the old view that isolationism was the cause of Wilson's failure and revealing the role of competing visions of internationalism--conservative and progressive.
Customer Reviews:
Woodrow Wilson and the League of Nations.......2005-03-30
This book is about Woodrow Wilson's quest for a new world order during and after WW I, especially his strong desire for the creation of a League of Nations which would mediate all future disputes between nations. The U.S. Senate, of course, voted it down. I found it interesting how the country (and Wilson) had strong socialist leanings, especially in international affairs, until War was declared in 1916, when a huge reaction took effect. Knock does a good job relating events and portraying Wilson as one whose ideas for truly ending warfare was convincing to world leaders but not his own country. The effort of trying to persuade his countrymen of the importance of a League probably broke his health and led to his death. Recommended.
Meticulous study on the League of Nations.......2002-01-01
When I was very young, I read somewhere that Wilson was the greatest swindler in human history. And Wilson has always been a mistery to me. Reading this book, I expected to learn the reason why Woodrow Wilson decided to lead America into World War I. But it was not a main theme of this book. And the explanation about it was not satisfactory to me. My misunderstanding about Wilson, however, is removed now thanks to this book.
Thomas J. Knox decidedly focused on the League issue. He meticulously studied the process of the formation of League of Nations. And his analysis of American political spectrum of that era - especially progressive internationalism & conservative internationalism - was excellent. It was very helpful in studying American history.
A Good Analysis of President Wilson's Views.......2001-09-21
To End All Wars attempts to show where President Wilson's ideas on the League of Nations came from and why he ultimatly failed. A fascinating protryal of early 20th century poltics, Knock successfully intergrates both the domestic policies of Wilson with his international policies. The links between the progressive, pacifist leagues and Wilson's views are clearly marked and appear credible. What is not examined is the moral conflict between Wilson's anti-war views and the fact he lead the country into World War I. Further research into this inconsitency could have led insight into why Wilson treated his former progrssive allies with such contempt as the war progressed. The ultimate result was his political inability to convince the American people to join the League of Nations after he alientated his greatest supporters.
Turning Your Head Around on Woodrow Wilson.......2000-05-31
Professor Knock turned my head around on the foreign policies of Woodrow Wilson. This book takes the reader back into the 1890s, when Wilson was a professor of politics and history, in its quest to understand the evolution of his foreign policy thru American entry into the First World War. Nothing is sacred in this author's hands either. He devises a large-scale drama encompassing a spectrum of players--Jane Addams, William Howard Taft, Elihu Root, Eugene Debs, and more--as he dissects how and why Wilson failed to gain Senate ratification for the Treaty of Versailles. If it is a familiar story, Professor Knock's retelling of it is both original and compelling. I think this is the single most important book currently available on Wilsonian foreign policy.

useless, too many exceptions.......2006-07-24
4 year, 1 year, and 4 day cycles are used. Works great except when there is a missed point, or an inversion.
Author recommends his Adam Theory Book. If Delta Phenonema "pinpoints exact turning points", why would the author advertise the Adam Theory Book??
Quite possibly the worst book ever written on the markets.......2006-01-30
Before recieving this book, I had a theory that I should buy any book on the markets which caught my eye. After all, every book has at least one good insight, and that one thing could take me to a higher level of understanding.
I also had a high regard for the author, and his Relative Strength Indicator (RSI) was something I relied on daily.
Well I did learn a few things from this book:
1. It's possible to create a system with rigid rules, but still doesn't provide any insight into what the market will do next.
2. You can fill 193 pages with absolutely nothing.
3. You can charge outrageous sums of money for something, if you print it on shiny paper, wrap it in leather binding, and hype it heavily.
4. Experts with great reputations WILL throw it all away to squeeze out short term profits by misleading trusting admirers. Then generating resentment by threatening legal action for discussing your discontent.
Don't this crap.
It's not a trading system, it is a forecasting tool........2005-02-07
Delta is not a trading system. It says so right in the book. It is an interesting forecasting tool. It is difficult to go through the processes presented, but it is doable. Really opened my mind.
You can believe anything if you look hard enough.......2004-06-30
Wow, so the markets move up and down, do they? And it appears that they do so in-step with various other observable phenomena? Only it's not always the same every time, and you have to fudge the answer regularly (inversions), and you have to put your faith in what everyone else would consider to be weird West Coast, New Age ideas? Nah, this doesn't work for me. Even if they're right, it would be soon be "traded away", because the utility of any trading system becomes marginal as soon as it is made public.
All this means is that markets allegedly turn according to some pseudo-regular cycle. But we could have figured that out anyway: in any given frame of reference, markets are not going to turn NO times, but neither are they going to turn an infinite amount of times.
Don't be sucked in by this - it's attractive, seductive and perhaps makes you want to submit, but this analysis is just as useful as any form of T.A. that requires you to recognise a real-time pattern whilst it is still forming: limited.
Finally, it's also HARD to analyse any underlier according to this prescription. Perhaps it once had some use but trust me I've used it and failed. I find other forms of market analysis much more fulfilling and, financially, rewarding. I doubt this Delta phenomenon will be able to help anyone make any money.
Sorry, but I'm just a non-believer - even though I've tried for many years to make it work.
A startling order of the markets revealed.......1999-10-01
As a successful trader for over ten years, I thought that I had seen about every price forecasting theory ever devised. This book proved that notion false. The Delta phenomenon (actually discovered by Jim Sloman) reveals a perfect order found in all markets that can be used to forecast turning points in price behavior. Any reader familiar with technical analysis will find this book to be a great asset to their trading library. However, this book is only recommended for those who are "serious" about technical analysis. The concepts contained in the "Delta Phenomenon" are sophisticated and a novice will not find this book helpful to their trading. Personally, I have not been able to use Delta to make money in the markets -- primarily because I use other methods that I am more comfortable with -- but the concepts revealed in this book have permanently changed how I look at price behavior.

Customer Reviews:
Good, although not the best.......2006-03-03
I've been following Last Order since it came out, and this is definitly NOT the best in the series. It's basically one long battle and the story seems to be dragged out so that nothing really happens.
I can't say don't buy it since the series as a whole is what makes Alita books great. But I was quite disappointed.
Last Order series tops itself again.......2004-10-16
This review is for the just released English version of "Angel of Protest". The whole "Last Order" series so far has been very well done, with a slicker, cleaner look than the first series. This latest release builds upon the last book with more new characters and lots more fighting and action scenes. I love Alitas new jacket and leggings, they remind me of Nausicaa or even one of CardCaptor Sakura's costumes. Also, we finally get some adversaries worthy of the "Imaginos" body.
"Angel of Protest" takes the storyline on kind of a tangent, with "Alita" geting into fights for moralistic reasons again. This sets up some great fighting however, and we get to see "Zazie" in action. Most everything that was unclear at the end of "Angel Eternal" is still not resolved. This is not a criticism because, hey, we get some great battle sequences! I just hope the overall plot does not get sidetracked for the sake of great fights and then be forced into some slap-togther cheesy resolution like the end of the first series.
"Angel of Protest" is a page-turner if you follow "Battle Angel" and my only complaint is it was too short. I love the artwork and ideas in this series. The campiness of the plot and the philosophical inner dialog of the characters never fails to amuse.
My wife still won't even look at these books because of the gore, and my sister just laughs at the silly Germanized names of the fighting techniques. (I still can't get her to stop laughing at "Panzer Kunst") But I read this series over and over again and always come away with a respect for the depth of imagination, the detail of the artwork and the sheer entertainment on so many different levels.
"Good To Goý".......2004-06-03
Alita, Wu Ping and Desty Nova begin this volume on the threshold of Ketheres, the last station of Earth. The first citizen they meet is Trinidad who reveals that Nova is the result of a project that is near and dear to Tinidad's heart (or brain). Alita, from Trinidad's viewpoint is excess baggage, and a short confrontation leaves her and Wu at severe disadvantage. Once again, Alita turns an apparent weakness into a strength, and her survival shifts the plot into a new gear.
Other than vague hints, Yukito Kishiro has always been very reticent about the overall scope of the series. First one city on a single planet, then a floating city, then something most like a space station. Now we find out that there is a whole solar system out there full of people every bit as devious as the ones we have already met. A whole political dimension opens up to be exploited, and you can be sure that Alita loses no time in becoming embroiled in the future of worlds where immortality is a commodity.
The story bogs down a bit mid-volume as Kishiro brings the reader up to speed on the status of the solar system, but the hiatus doesn't last for long, as Alita heads out into space with for what promises to be a return home and a major battle. The changing settings give the artist/writer a chance to do what he does best - draw, and create characters. It is this scope and the detail of vision that sets Alita apart from most other manga other than other standouts like Akira and X/1999.
Alita is a modern hero, beautiful, deadly, and determined - which ethics and values which completely surpass her cyborg nature. This series continues to find the middle ground between action and morality play without ever leaving a hint of over-acting. While there have been some attempts at creating OVA for this story, the story begs for serialization as anime. Anime with a lot of computer graphics, since Yukito Kushiro has an eye for detail that rivals Hieronymous Bosch. I will look forward to that day.
Not All Demons Come From Hell..........2004-06-02
In a struggle that pits adults against children the residents of Tiphares act out the age old questions of whether an imitation can replace human nature. Of course, the answer is no - the adults, who have had their brains replaced with tiny computer chips, have become compliant, but that does not mean they are not jealous of their prerogative.
For the youth, who now understand the deeper meaning of freedom, the fight is for survival as individuals - as true humans. Yet, when pressed, they too will stop at nothing, and it is the children who unleash a monster so deadly that only Alita can stand up to it, But even the super-powered cyborg is dangerously outclassed.
As Yukito Kishiro's new series unfolds, the reader learns that this story is far larger that the limits of the city in the sky. Kaos, who lost almost everything in the first series has returned - ruined, but determined to make amends. And by the simple, age-old mechanism of a paper plane a bond is re-forged and a faint, slightly cynical glimmer of hope appears to light the way.
For all the this series is still a vehicle for Alita's spectacular fighting skills the story reveals more depth and a finer sense of rhythm than the first series. Too often sequels seem to suffer from weakness, but Kishiro seems to have husbanded his strength. As complexity and character develop the story grows stronger as well.
High on battles, low on plotline. Transitional volume........2004-03-26
A previous reviewer mentioned he disliked this new series because it does not fit with the original series... I have to disagree. Last Order begins one year after Alita dies at the hands of a bomb and Nova collects her brain matter. The original ending came about quickly due to medical and stress related problems on the part of the creator, and as a result, there are far too many questions left unanswered.
Last Order attempts to remedy this by filling out the universe in which this story is set.
Admittedly, LO #2 is rather high in battles and low on plotline. LO #1 itself places the reader in a whole new world that is largely left unexplained amidst outright chaos. LO #2 continues this for a short while as it deals with the problems of Tiphares. The most important thing to be learned from this volume is that it serves as a transitional space and motivation for Alita & co. to make their journey through Ladder to Ketheres in Volume #3. However, if you felt this book lacking, I highly recommend hanging in and checking out #3, as the Battle Angel universe starts a whole new ball game.

All Rise: Order in the Church.......2007-06-27
This writer has an interesting perspective on church etiquette. there are not many books on the market that tackle this issue, but this one was good & from a 'Pastor's' perspective. The Biblical example given were great to build off of and teach.

Translation Info.......2006-12-09
Regrettably, there is no significant information about this Text, despite the unreasonable prices it is being offered at. But for those who interested: I am all but certain that the Scripture text is The Jerusalem Bible (the original translation, not the updated edition). For anyone interested in the development of doctrine as reflected in Judeo/Christian history, you will this arrangement of the Scriptural texts very illuminating.
Again, it is regrettable that the price is so prohibitive for used copies. Hopefully, Doubleday Publishers will consider printing this book again at a reasonable price.

Book Description
Fruit, Berry and Nut Inventory is an essential reference for all backyard fruit growers and commercial orchardists who care about the rich diversity of fruit, berry, and nut varieties offered by mail-order nurseries in the United States. This comprehensive "catalog of catalogs" is now available in its newly updated Third Edition, which lists 280 nurseries that offer nearly 6,000 varieties of fruits, berries, and nuts-everything from apples and bananas to tangerines and walnuts.
There's nothing sexy here, no color photographs or quaint illustrations. But the information presented in this book is so unique and invaluable that fruit growers everywhere will turn to it again and again, looking for sources that offer rare nineteenth-century apples, or for descriptions of newly bred grapes, or even for unusual varieties of tropical fruits. Where else could you find sources for Maiden Blush apple (1817), African Rhino Horn banana, Leningrad Giant currant, Adriatic fig, Pineapple grape, Dr. Beaumont macadamia, Choctaw pecan, or Yellow Egg plum?
Backyard and commercial growers concerned with the loss of biodiversity will deeply appreciate the Fruit, Berry and Nut Inventory. Fruit breeders, plant collectors, and amateur growers can quickly tell which varieties are being offered by only one or two companies and need to be purchased, while sources still exist, and permanently maintained to prevent being lost forever. Everything commercially available can be scanned to find varieties perfect for specific climates, or resistant to local diseases and pests. Northern and high-altitude growers can use the book to find exceptionally hardy, short-season varieties that will survive and mature in their locations. Orchards, nurseries, and botanical gardens can use it to find sources for unique plant material.
The fruits, berries, and nuts available today are the result of centuries of collection and amateur development, further refined by the world's finest breeding programs. Growers and breeders have developed regionally adapted varieties with superior taste, disease resistance, and countless other virtues. Fruit, Berry and Nut Inventory opens the orchard's gate and invites us to discover them.

Like No Other I Know Of.......2006-03-04
Excellent book containing the lineage and qualities of many fruits, nuts and berries. A great reference book for any enthusiast. Used by many retailers as a guide for their products.
Invaluable resource for common & unique fruits.......2004-10-03
Thanks to this wonderful book, we have added many unusual fruits to our orchard and discovered some amazing mail order suppliers. Before we purchase any plants, we always refer to "THE BOOK" to make sure that the tree is one we really want and that it will thrive in the harsh Maine climate. I would recommend it to anybody wanting to successfully plant fruits, berries or nuts.
Very useful, the only one of it's kind..........2003-04-14
For the fruit nut, this reference is indispensible. When ordering specific varieties, we use it to source stock from nurseries. When searching for trees with certain characteristics, we peruse the descriptions, hunting for certain words (in the pear section, "fireblight-resistant", in the apricot section, "excellent flavor", etc.).
Few complaints: not revised often enough to list new varieties as they come on the market. For example, 'Goldrush' apple is not listed. Descriptions are very brief, probably due to space limitations. Descriptions are also generally a summary of the nursery catalog's text, and therefore not as useful as they could be.
In general, a very fun reference to keep on the shelf.
Excellent Sourcebook for Fruit and Nut Varieties.......2002-11-02
In the third edition of this excellent reference, the Seed Savers Exchange has provided a very useful tool for nurseries and gardeners to locate sources of heirloom fruit, nut and berry varieties. But it is much more than just a sourcebook, as there are brief descriptions of each fruit variety and indications of how rare or threatened each variety is based on the number of sources. Nursery operators and fruit gene bank managers will find this book to be indespensible!
