5 out of 5 stars Super cute for Junie B Fans!.......2007-10-10

My daughter loves this book and all the pics in it. She's a little young to write in it herself well (only 5) but she can't wait until she gets to fill it in with her details. Nice hard cover book too!

5 out of 5 stars YAY!!!!!!.......2007-04-12

This book is like, really, really fun to read AND write in. I got mine a few years ago, but I want to do it again, so I'm buying another one! Most people would think I'm a little too old for Junie B., but no one can outgrow Junie B. Jones. I still collect the books, and I read at least one Junie B. book a week. I recommend this book for kids 5-9. I'm over the age group I just mentioned, though! Buy this fun, hilarious book! You won't regret it!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!.......2007-03-09

My daughter, age 7-1/2, loves Junie B., and so do I. The Personal Beeswax Journal is awesome!!! It is set up as a journal for two people to use. Junies B. has filled in the first person's journal, and there are the same pages left blank for the owner of the book to fill in. Junie B.'s entries are hilarious as well as touching. My daughter has already composed a Haiku poem to write on her Haiku page of the journal. If you have a child who loves Junie B., she is sure to love this book! And if your child is a reluctant writer, this just might motivate her to do a little writing.

5 out of 5 stars JUNIE B. JOURNAL.......2007-01-21

My six year old daughter loves Junie B. Jones books. We now have the entire collection and she goes through them like wildfire. She has had so much fun writing silly things in her Junie B. Journal. It will be a keepsake for sure. I almost can't wait for her to get older so we can laugh about the things she has written. It's so cute. I highly recommend Junie B. for kids of all ages.

Book Description

his cheerful companion follows the enormous success of You Read to Me, I'll Read to You: Very Short Stories to Read Together. Designed with budding readers in mind, each of the 8 fairy tales has been given a new twist and is set in three columns and three colors as a script for two voices to read separately or together. From the tale of Jack and the Beanstalk (in which Jack negotiates for the ogre's hen!) to Goldilocks (in which Baby Bear helps the famed intruder find her way home!), acclaimed writer Mary Ann Hoberman cleverly disguises reading skill development in her child-friendly rhymes, while Michael Emberley's warm and witty watercolors make for another irresistible package. Two proven formulas-the format of the New York Times bestseller, You Read to Me (Volume 1) combined with the beloved characters and themes that have nurtured children for generations-come together here in a winning read-aloud.

5 out of 5 stars Read WITH Your Child.......2007-03-09

I am a language therapist working with communication-impaired children and their parents. While most parents read to their children, they fail to do it in a truly interactive way - asking questions, making comments, asking for predictions, encouraging the child to reflect on the action and characters in the story. This is a wonderful series for children who are able to read. It's like performing a little play and the parent serves as an expressive model for the child. I use it with my students and it is highly motivating, fun, and recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Great partner read-aloud for adults & children.......2007-01-10

This book is a FUN read-aloud for parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles who want to model "just for fun" stories for their young aspiring readers. We taped ourselves orally reading (w/great expression & character voices) our favorite tales from this book & presented each of our great nieces & nephew w/ a copy of the book and both a personalized tape & CD of our readings. They were a tremendous hit & among the "favorite Christmas gifts!!"

5 out of 5 stars a wonderful book.......2007-01-05

I love this book. When I leave it out on the shelf in the classroom, the kids actually ask to read it. They love reading to each other. Perfect for bilinguals or kids just starting out.

My own kids and I can still recite parts of it from memory ("I found a dime! You found a dime? I found a dime at dinnertime!") The illustrations are adorable and are entertaining all on their own. Buy it and share!

5 out of 5 stars Fun fairytales to read together.......2006-03-29

I really liked this book and think that it would be great to use in reader's theater. Hoberman takes the original fairytales and shortens them in kid friendly language. There are usually two different characters that tell the story. One reader would read the first character and the second reader reads the other character's part. When the text appears in the middle, both readers read at the same time. All the stories end with the two characters coming together to read a book together. Pastel type pictures are scattered throughout the stories and are humorous. For Jack and the beanstalk, the giant has his nose pierced and jack is wearing sun glasses. This book could be used in K-3 classes. Great Book!

3 out of 5 stars Cute to Read for Older Readers.......2006-03-28

You Read to Me, I'll Read to You is based upon a very cute idea. The entire book is a variation of a play for two people. The author's note at the beginning suggests that the one part be read by an advanced reader and the other be read by a beginner. The actual stories within the book, however, may be too difficult for a beginning reader. Since the stories are based on familiar fairy tales and are accompanied by many colorful cartoon drawings, it may aid slightly in beginning readers. However, the fairy tales all end with everyone becoming friends and getting along, which is great to teach to children, but may confusing to younger kids since it does change the way the some of the stories end.

Book Description

Parents and kids alike are instantly drawn to the Read With Me Bible for its outstanding, action-filled artwork by Dennis Jones. Mom and Dad love the way their kids respond to the bold, humorous depictions of Bible characters, and easy-to-understand stories.
And now this beloved Bible storybook for 4-to-8-year-olds is updated, with even more artwork, a new typeface, and a fresh, eye-catching cover. Like the original, the new version features separate Old Testament and New Testament sections and contains 106 Bible stories based on the New International Reader’s Version? (NIrV—”The NIV for Kids!”).
Reading to young children helps foster strong emotional bonds. Spending time together discussing the stories and interacting with the pictures also helps kids internalize the Word of God. Younger children will enjoy studying the pictures and watching the words as parents read them; early readers may want to read the stories on their own.
Christian parents are always in the market for creatively designed, value-priced Bible storybooks for young children. They want a sound biblical message, but they want it packaged in a novel, state-of-the-art way. The Read With Me Bible has a proven track record of strong popularity with consumers—and the updated version promises to build on this success.

5 out of 5 stars great bible for kids!.......2007-08-27

My kids and I LOVE this bible. My daughter got it as a gift - we liked it so much we bought one for my niece for her b-day. My daughter will just sit and "read" it on her own (she can't read more than her name yet!). It really has her excited about reading more of the bible. As a parent, it is has been a great teacher for all of us.

5 out of 5 stars Great bedtime book.......2007-08-16

My 4-year-old LOVED this book. We read it each night just before she went to sleep. We finished it in 3 days. She loved the pictures and the stories were great.

5 out of 5 stars My Daughter Loves this book, she reads to her siblings.......2007-04-02

My 7 year old loves this book. There is a ton of pictures and the words are easy enough for her to read on her own. When she gets stuck (after attempting sounding it out/etc.) she'll spell th word and I'll tell her it, then she'll say it herself. She usually remebers for next time the word appears. She reads THIS BOOK to her younger 6 year old twin brothers and 4 year old sister. her older sister (9) will usually read the ACTUAL bible to all of them after a story or two is heard from this book.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful art work.......2007-02-21

The art work is wonderful, no wonder they did a second Bible with just illustrations.
My kids love it.

4 out of 5 stars Nice intermediate kid's bible.......2006-08-26

If you want more than a baby bible but aren't quite ready for a full text version, this is a great choice. Seems to cover most of the major stories of the bible so it's more than just a few sundry bible stories. The illustrations are fun--lots of action and color without being too cartoony. My 4 year old son is sitting, looking at his new copy now and I imagine that even my 8 year old daughter will enjoy it.

5 out of 5 stars Great book.......2007-01-10

This entire series is great for introducing sex in a godly way from a young age. I have found them to be informative, honest and clear about the importance of sex being saved for marriage.

3 out of 5 stars Age recommendations are a bit off.......2006-07-09

I'm not a TOTAL prude, but my NINE-year-old is not quite ready for this book yet, even though it is intended to be for ages 3 to 5.

The majority of the book does talk about just what the baby is doing inside the mother, how he gets OUT, etc., and I'm totally fine with that. I like how they use the proper terminology, although I'm not a huge stickler for that. In our family we use more "childlike" terms, but nothing off-the-wall. It doesn't bother me either way.

But I do NOT feel that a 3-5-year-old is ready for even hints at how the baby got inside the mother in the first place. If the child ASKS for anything beyond "God put him there," that is one thing. But this book plants that idea that there is more to it, and I'm not comfortable with that.

"Then He took a tiny piece of Daddy's body and a tiny piece of Mommy's body, and made YOU!"

"And God made your body private. Mommy and I still help you take a bath, and a doctor might check every part of your body, but except for that your p*n*s and a girl's v*g*na are private. [I'm OK with these sentences but not the next one, not for this age group anyway!] Someday when you marry, your wife will be the only person you won't have to be private with at all."

I do like the fact that bre*stfeeding is expressed as something normal, natural, and good. And as I said, the authors did a great job of explaining what the baby does inside and how he comes out (even a c-section). But because of the 2 sentences I shared, if I were to read this to my child, I would have to do some heavy editing, because my children are not ready for that information yet.

4 out of 5 stars Single parents might need to supplement explanation in the book since their situation is not reflected in the book.......2005-11-15

I bought this book to assist me in explaining the facts about marriage, sex and having babies. I admit the book gives an excellent explanation of how life should be, however as a single parent who is divorced,I naturally had to supplement the explanation to my kids because unfortunately their family life experience is nothing like the child's in the book. Their father is only a part of their life sporadically, he left before the last one was born and the first one was only a little over a year old so they have no recollection of "Mummy and Daddy" as a loving unit. Unfortunately, single parenthood is not the odd occurrence, it is unfortunately becoming the norm these days. What I have done is explain to my kids that although the book does not reflect their life, the book reflects how it should be. God intended for it to be how it is described in the book and also I emphasize the point of marriage first, sex after, then kids.
A good book overall, if prompts my kids to at least ask questions that is even better.

3 out of 5 stars most content ok some scary.......2005-01-16

The main concern I have of this book is the way that it portrays childbirth. The reason we purchased this book is because my pregnancy was rousing questions of where babies come from, how they get inside a womb etc from our 5 year old daughter. The author of the book portrays that a normal childbirth is a scary surgery (complete with drawing) and although our daughter knows that sometimes(rarely) women need surgery we did not appreciate a surgical birth drawn and vaguely described as the only birth info. If I had wanted to educate her on c-sections, there are plenty of books out there written by those who have had them - for women, men, and children.
I would actually reccommend a different book for this age group (3-5)on this topic and I would reccommend the 2nd book in this series (before I was born)very highly. The second book in the series, although for children ages 5-8 (our daughter is in between both of these age groups which is why I ordered both books), not only beautifully and tastefully describes sex between a married couple but also describes and illustrates childbirth as something that mothers bodies are made by God to do and does not focus on what could go wrong. (i.e. some babies are born without brain development but when purchasing a book on normal life, one wouldn't expect to see and read about it there).
Luckily for us, the authors fully stand by the content of their books and our money will be refunded since we weren't happy with it. I hope my review is helpful to those discerning the purchase of this book.

5 out of 5 stars best book in its categoryýbuy this book.......1998-06-19

A little boy asks his father to "Tell me my story again, Daddy," and the rest of the book follows their conversation about how the little boy came to be. The story-within-a-story format prompted my daughter to compare herself and "her story" to the little boy in the book and "his story," and has led to some special, meaningful conversations of our own. An excellent starting point for teaching children about the "facts of life" from a loving, common-sense, Christian point of view. The wording and images are natural, simple, and direct, and turn what could be an awkward topic for some parents into a piece of cake. A lovely and beautifully-illustrated book. Much thanks to the authors.

Book Description

This virtually wordless Bible storybook is the prequel to Zonderkidz’ bestselling Read With Me Bible. The See With Me Bible features approximately twenty-five of the most beloved and compelling Bible stories for children ages six and under. Featuring powerful illustrations by Dennis Jones, the tales are told with great visual detail that unfolds from panel to panel, making them easy to follow for pre-readers and non-readers, and allowing parents to tell stories with as much or as little detail as desired.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars refreshingly & expressively illustrated.......2007-09-03

I bought this for my boys ages 3 and 6 and they enjoy this a lot. They can tell themselves what's going on in the story as kind of a reading comprehension exercise after hearing or reading the actual biblical account at church or from us. I can't say enough about the illustrations, they are so expressive and active and dynamic! There's nothing "boring" about this Bible. I like that it makes the Bible exciting and relevant to kids.

5 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE!!.......2007-03-04

This has to be the BEST "picture book" i have ever seen for smaller children. The illustrations are so inspiring that i want to go study illustration!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Pictorial Presentation of the Truth.......2006-07-02

A picture is worth a thousand words and this book does a great job of illustrating the fundatmental Truths of the Bible. By using pictures, the reader can use his/her own words to give life to the pictures. The illustrations are great. They really capture the eyes of a pre-reader. Nice!!!

5 out of 5 stars Great for Preschoolers!!.......2006-02-03

My husband and I bought this book for our 4 year old and he loves it. The age that Amazon gave it is not really accurate. I think they said 9-12. The book says 6 and under. There are almost no words, about a sentence every 15 pages. Our son loves to just look at the pages and then ask questions about parts he doesn't understand. It is also great that the parents can tell the story with as much detail as they wish. Over all I think this is just a great book for any prereader.

Book Description

Take it from the narrator of this book, an all-knowing big sister: when you're a baby you don't read books. You eat them. You don't know how old you are, or even if you're a boy or a girl. And you have to keep a special plug in your mouth to stop your scream from coming out. But one day, you won't be little anymore, and then you'll be taller and smarter, and actually quite clever. Like the narrator. And you'll be able to share memories of what it was like when you were little with your incredible Big Sister.

5 out of 5 stars Fun Book.......2007-09-17

I bought this book for my 5-year-old granddaughter who has two little brothers and will be big sister to another baby soon. I know she'll be able to identify with the girl in the book. Reading this was fun for me too - some pages made me laugh out loud. It's exactly what a big sister would say and think, even about such things as messy diapers. I think this book will become a favorite for the child who receives it.

5 out of 5 stars My five year old loves this book!.......2007-08-25

I have a 5 year old daughter and a 15 month old boy. He, of course, gets all of the attention.

We checked this book out from the library and after reading it I had to buy it! It is a MUST have for any older sister who has a baby in the house. It is a light-hearted look at what babies can and can't do compared to the much more mature older sister. Not only is it cute, its truth is downright funny and had us all laughing out loud!

5 out of 5 stars Humorous and Fun!.......2007-07-25

This book is delightful! There is much to laugh at, much to love. I've shared it with my 3-year-old granddaughter, who will be a big sister come September. She was much intrigued by the great art work, and I could tell it helped enhance her self esteem, as well.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous!.......2007-07-20

My new favorite children's book! Such a fun, light-hearted look at being a big sister. My five year old daughter and I giggled out loud when we read this the first time from the library. The writing is right on level with a child's sense of humor, but fun for adults to read as well. This one I have to have for our permanent collection.

5 out of 5 stars right on target.......2007-06-14

This book is wonderful for children who are expecting a little brother or sister. My grandaughter wanted to read it over and over again and it displaced some of her fears. The book was Right On.

Several parabels are told, each with beautiful illustrations. Each starts out with "One day Jesus told a story. This is what He said..."

The parabels are simplified for children to understand, yet they do not lose the accuracy of scripture. There is also a follow-up for each parabel, saying "What did you learn?" and then summarizing the lesson.

These are simple and short, and easily accomodate a wide range of children.

5 out of 5 stars Parables Simplified.......2007-04-01

This is an excellent book to introduce young children to the parables of Jesus. I have never used better material that keeps children excited and looking forward to what each page reveals.

4 out of 5 stars good, but not the best.......2006-01-30

We own all of the books in this "series". After reading a review about this one being the best, I decided to buy it. I usually give the books in this series for second/third birthday presents for friends, so I decided to try this one out. It is along the same lines, but not as good as the previous volumes. Each of the previous volumes had about five stories a piece and the stories were color coded. The children love to flip to the title page to pick a color of story they want you to read. This particular book does not have that option, all of the type is in black, but it does still have five stories. The stories are good too, but not as entertaining as the more familiar Bible sotries that are in the first four volumes. It is a nice addition to our "series" but I would go for the other four books before purchasing this one.

4 out of 5 stars Nice but not for 9-12 year old reading level as billed..........2003-09-03

A reading Level of 9-12 (years old) is shown for this book but this is misleading. It is a picture book with one sentence every two pages. Best suited for the preschool set (2-4 years old).

5 out of 5 stars It's the favorite!.......2003-05-28

My 2-year old daugther LOVES this book!! Has had it almost a week and wants it read every nap and nigthtime! "Tell me the Jesus stories" is what she says! Only 5 parables but she doesn't mind the repeating! Now we're looking for a Volume Two...

5 out of 5 stars You Read to Me, I'll Read to You.......2007-10-05

I bought this book for my granddaughter who is 5 and is just learning to read. She lives in NM and I live in MI. I thought this would be a good way for us to share something together over the miles and over the telephone or computer webcam. The stories are cute and snappy keeping the interest of the young reader. It is a perfect way for us to stay connected over the miles. We take turns reading and then we both read together.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT FOR BEGINNING READERS.......2007-09-04

I BOUGHT THIS BOOK FOR MY GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS JUST BEGINNING TO READ. SHE LOVED THE FACT THAT ANOTHER PERSON WAS READING RIGHT ALONG WITH HER.
SHE WOULD READ THE PINK LINES AND I WOULD READ THE BLUE. SHE ESPECIALLY LIKED READING THE RIDDLES.

4 out of 5 stars Great concept - Great Writing!.......2007-07-25

My seven-year-old and I have fun reading this together. My only caveat to parents wanting to buy this for their kids is that they are going to want you to read this over and over! It's a little exhausting :) But it's terrific to have kids who are excited about reading which makes the book a very worthwhile purchase!

5 out of 5 stars Three Thumbs Up!.......2007-06-12

This is the most wonderful series of three books to use with your child - fun and interactive, a lovely shared reading experience. I'm a language therapist and have used it with bright 5 year olds who can read, and older 10 year olds (especially those who love to take a role and use character voices and be a little dramatic). They all enjoy it - and so do I. It's also a great gift to give for a birthday party! Run to the store - unusual and creative!

5 out of 5 stars I love reading, too!.......2007-04-16

FUN! FUN! FUN! A great collobration of rhythm and rhyme between child and parent making reading a perichoretic BLAST of whimsical pictures and design! As a parent I enjoy reading this book, too, which helps convey positive reinforcement for my children's reading.

5 out of 5 stars Take the kids to poetry.......2007-09-15

I'm a teacher, and this book was a huge hit with my students during a reading clinic I helped teach. One boy declared that he didn't like rhyme before I introduced the book and really got into it after I had him read it anyway...he even performed one of the poems for the class!!!

5 out of 5 stars poetry.......2007-07-12

This is great book to introduce poetry. If your students are reluctant poetry readers, this is the book for you! There is also a sequel!

5 out of 5 stars Book - Take Me Out of the Bathtub.......2007-01-16

This is a book of silly song lyrics that sung to old well-known tunes. The title song is sung to the tune of Take Me Out to the Ball Game. I have purchased 3 copies of it so far: for my 2 year-old stepgrandaughter, my 4 month-old great nephew and my daughter and son-in-law and their little 15-month old niece.

It's such a fun thing - getting reacquainted with the old tunes and singing such silly lyrics. The illustrations are wonderful too.

4 out of 5 stars Silly Songs.......2006-11-10

My kids like the silly rhymes set to familiar tunes, especially the title song. Only complaint is that some of the melodies aren't all that familiar and we're going to have to find the music to be able to sing them.

3 out of 5 stars L Kurtz.......2006-10-16

I am giving this book only three stars because it's low on my daughter's list of books she goes to on regular basis. I think firstly, the images are a bit on the gross side (and I have an art degree & can appreciate the style). Some are just not pleasant to look at even though they probably describe the poem well (poems about a stinky diaper; having a food fight; cleaning your room; falling on your untied shoelaces). And secondly, the only poem that's fun to read is the first one about being in the tub too long. That one is fun to read, but the rest are a B-. Some may really enjoy these poems, but I was disapointed with the purchase of this one.

Book Description

The very popular Little Critter has a friend over to play and tries his best to be a good host. It's a long afternoon. After his friend damages Little Critter's bike by accident, leaves him in the tree house without a ladder, and doesn't help clean up his room, Little Critter decides that playing alone isn't always bad. Mercer Mayer's dry and gentle humor provides another funny-but-true picture-book treat.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars excellent for problem solving!.......2007-05-14

We bought this book (and most of the Little Critter books) to help us discuss what's going on in our child's life. When problems arose with what it means to be a good friend, we were making little to no headway until we read this book together. Somehow it's easier to understand when it's a favorite book character having the problem and not you.

5 out of 5 stars very cute.......2007-02-10

This put a smile on my face --- and I'm over 30!!! The illustrations are colorful and funny and the story line and writing are very good.

5 out of 5 stars Just Mt Friend And Me.......2002-10-28

Just My Friend And Me was a great book. It told you how you would play with your friend when he/she came over. It showed how to help your friend when he/she gets hurt. In someways once you have a friend come over you can't wait for them to leave so you can be a lone and do stuff you want to do and not have someone else want to do something different. Well, I hope this gives you a good idea of what this book is about. I hope all of the little children will enjoy this book. I know I did.
