Customer Reviews:
Pretty complete.......2007-01-09
I have the medical journals by Sharon Larsen for my older children, but now it's out of print. That one is my favorite, but this one is pretty complete. My biggest disapointment is that the actual size is pretty small. Larsen's was 8x10 size and I keep the papers my office gives in it, this on is about 5x7, so I can't easily store the papers.
Exactly what I was looking for!.......2006-01-18
This book is exactly what I was looking for! A great place to organize all my son's medical info. There is a page per regular wellness checkup. There is a page with a diagram to chart his teeth. A page to track his immunizations... and more! It's great. Now I only wish I could find something just as good for adults!!
Great but missing organization.......2005-02-05
If only there was a book that had a little of everything. Great resource with useful charts for teeth, growth charts, etc. But lacks well visit and sick visit pages. They are simply referred to as doctor visits. Great book for a resource and reminder. Not small enough for a purse, etc.
Great Resource.......2004-07-13
As a new mom, I appreciate having all my child's medical and vaccine records all in one place. It is also small (and durable) enough to throw in my purse or diaper bag when I go to the doctor. Is a great shower or new born baby gift.
Customer Reviews:
Very cute and handy.......2007-01-19
I received one for my first daughter and bought one for my second daughter. It is very cute and handy. It fits nicely in the diaper bag or purse for doctor visits. This makes a nice gift for a baby shower.
very good health journal!!!.......2006-03-11
This journal is so cute and handy... will order more as a gift for my friends baby shower.
child health journal.......2006-02-26
i work in a pediatric office. when a mother gave me this book to note the baby's height and weight i fell in love with it. i knew i had to buy one for my son and my daughter in law for their baby. one of the reasons i liked it was because mom can always carry it in her diaper bag and have all the medical information at her finger tips.
Great Resource but Missing .......2005-02-05
Great medical resource for your child with tabs for each age of life as well as well and sick visit pages, talking, sleeping, etc. Missing useful charts that would be helpful including tooth chart with names of teeth and when they are expected to come in, growth charts, etc. Best book I have found so far and I have probably purchased over 10 and had to return all but this one. Other books do offer more useful charts. This one also has limited space for listing vaccines and dates, etc.
I wouldn't be without it..........2003-11-07
This little book is wonderful! It's an organized guide through a child's development and milestones, e.g. growth, teething, toilet-learning, and the like. It has sections devoted to illness/injury, dental, and vaccination records, as well as ideas for babyproofing, discipline conundrums, and school preparation. Further, it includes room for remembrances such as first words, first foods, and birthday celebrations. As I am not one to jot every instance into a journal, or scrapbook during my "free time", I am happy to have found this terrific resource. My friends love receiving it, each of our children has one, and I wouldn't be without it! Please keep publishing it!

Customer Reviews:
Ok organizer.......2007-01-04
for the most part the book is okay but they don't give you enough information to jot down your thoughts.
Excellent resource to keep on track.......2006-08-30
I found this book to be exceptionally laid out and detailed, helping me keep on top of what I need to be doing to be the best during my pregnancy. I am a high risk mother to be, and appreciate being aware and organized, and feel it benefits my baby and my body. I truly recommend this as another tool to help throughout this wonderful experience.
Maybe if you are a high risk pregnancy.......2006-02-15
This book/organizer is for the expectant mom who needs to track her daily intake - down to how much water she drinks - but not for anyone who wants to enjoy her pregnancy & not worry about & write down everything she eats for the next couple of months - So, unless you are a high risk pregnancy or completly neurotic - this book is not for you - at least I know it's not for me!

Customer Reviews:
Beautiful Book.......2007-05-22
I bought this as a gift for a friend and had a chance to look through it before I sent it-- it is beautifully layed out and has tons of lovely scripture references and thoughts. I wish I had had something similar when I was pregnant with my twins!
Be wary of this until you are SURE what you are getting.......2007-05-18
I sent this item back. I didn't realize there would be basically a WHOLE section of pages that refer to Christianity. If you are Christian and plan to bring your child up that way, then this is the book for you. If not, I would suggest something else. If it was just a few pages, I probably would have kept the book and just skipped those pages. But, there are QUITE A FEW PAGES... THIS BOOK WAS CLEARLY MADE FOR CHRISTIAN PEOPLE. And I am just not comfortable with that. I was highly disappointed because I would love to share spiritual things with my child, and the rest of the writing topics were fine. If the pages had just been worded differently so they were more of a spiritual nature than a pure CHRISTIAN nature.... I mean, to each his own. But, this obviously wasn't the book for me. There are so many other people and religions in the world.... I suppose I will just have to look for something better suited to my own beliefs.
Great journal for Mom AND Dad!.......2007-05-07
This is one of the only journals I was able to find that included the baby's father in the journaling. There are chapters for each trimester and also for various topics such as hopes and dreams, values, the future. Each page starts off with a little sentence to get you going such as "The first person we told that we were pregnant was...". There is also a space on the top of the page to say who is writing the entry (Mom or Dad), the date of the entry, and the baby's age at that entry.
One warning though: This book has many religious references. If you're not religious, you may find some of the pages unnecessary. This wasn't a problem for me and my husband, but I do think people who are less religious may be taken back by some of the pages that focus on God.
Excellent framework.......2007-01-09
Using the questions provided on each page of this journal has really helped me open up and write to the baby yet to come. My husband and I have both enjoyed writing in the book, and look forward to it become a treasure for him/her for years to come.
Thoughtful Gift for Yourself or Someone You Love.......2006-11-10
There are an abundance of books that provide women and their partners an opportunity to learn about pregnancy. "GETTING TO KNOW YOU" is also about learning but the learning occurs through self-reflection. Each provides a "starter sentence" that inspires a stream of thoughts, feelings, and emotions to be captured in words, drawings, or mementos on each page.
Since this journal is created to be carried and written in, even when you are on the "go" or at any time during the pregnancy (see page ix), inviting the writer to quiet and focus themselves even amidst daily tasks, like a doctor's visit. In essence, "GETTING TO KNOW YOU" is an opportunity for your child in later years (think teenager angst and disconnect) to intimately get to know you from your act of preserving the "prequel" to their life - and what is lovelier than that!
My only criticism is that it refers to "mommy" and "daddy" throughout the book. And we all know families can now publicly consist of two (or one) mommies, daddies, unrelated guardians, a grandma/pa and a mommy/daddy, etc... This choice is understandable given the publishing company and the audience trying to be reached. I just think the opportunity for a larger, more diverse audience, to benefit from this beautiful and thoughtful book is being missed. Even so, I have purchased four of the books - two for friends (one single and one not) who are currently pregnant and two for those future mommies! Highly recommended.
I would love to see a similar journal for people looking to adopt.

Learn fascinating information about your toddlerâs social, physical, and cognitive development as you record your thoughts on these exciting years of your childâs development.
Customer Reviews:
Love it.......2007-09-13
Love being able to give my kids something that will tell them about how they were as a kid.. It has cute little pages for them to draw on to help make it more special
Easy to use.......2007-04-15
This is a great way to journal your baby's experiences without needing a lot of time. If you are not interested in or do not have time for elaborate baby books, this is a nice alternative which captures all of your baby's milestones on a weekly basis. One day I hope to spend more time on my baby book, and I'll be using this journal as a reference. I find the comments in the book very helpful, brief and interesting.
I'm so glad someone gave this to me!.......2006-12-06
I love to journal in my scrapbooks, but I seem to never get to those as much anymore. This little book provides me just the right amount of space, and thoughts from week to week. I am amazed at how accurate the week to week development descriptions have been for us! This is WAY better than those What to Expect books!
I'm going to recommend to all my friends.
learn AND share.......2006-03-25
I have all three of these journals--pregnancy, 1st year, & now the toddler edition. I like that it gives you information about your toddler's cognitive, physical & emotional development but I especially like that it also suggests games and activities to help your toddler's development. It gives prompts & space for your personal entries--I do a lot of writing to journal these precious days--so, I wish there were more space for journalling. The week-to-week account (opposed to the day-to-day of the other two journals) is much more practical/doable at this stage--with a toddler to keep up with. :0) I definitely recommend ALL THREE--this will allow my little one a first hand account of what she did, when. AND my feelings, in my own words (even when I'm too old to remember). :0)
I LOVE THIS JOURNAL/BOOK.......2006-03-06
This is by far my favorite toddler book that I own. Each week you get developmental steps as well as activities and more. At the end it gives you note spaces and it asks you questions you normally wouldn't think to write about but that you and your child will appreciate later on. I highly recommend this book and know that you will enjoy it as much as I have.

Book Description
Within the field of psychology, community psychology specifically challenges traditional ways of thinking by considering people as embedded in ecological systems. It also recognizes that the links between persons and settings may be as important as either factor alone.
Many of the important writings in this field have been presented in the
American Journal of Community Psychology. As such, the intellectual history of community psychology has been presented in this journal. This work contains original research from the first 25 years of the journal, selected to reflect community psychology's rich tradition of theory, empirical research, action, and innovative methods. The articles included reflect both the enduring values of the field and data that sparked the field to move forward.
This volume will be of interest to community mental health workers, social science and social work researchers, health care professionals, policy makers, and educators in the fields of community and preventative psychology.

Customer Reviews:
This is so cute.......2007-07-26
I was looking for something personal and not just information regarding what I should expect during my pregnancy. This book is so cute and is a great way to track your thoughts, feelings, events, and ups and downs of your pregnancy. After looking at many different journals, I liked this one the most. I highly recommend it.
Lots of writing!.......2007-06-03
Love this journal but be prepared for a lot of writing. It's pretty thick and each page has an inspiring topic to write about. Easy to get carried away writing but hard to find the time with a toddler at home! Of course, technically, you can write as much or as little as you want. If I could change one thing though I wish that there was a more organized section on appointments and number/lab data. There's a page here and there throughout the book but it's hard to put all your info together in this journal.
I loved this book..........2007-05-13
My husband bought me this book when I was pregnant with my son. The topics were great and anytime the writing mood would strike I could flip through and find a good one. There were topics about the pregnancy and family, but there were also a few that were not about pregnancy. I did not finish all of it when I was pregnant and I wish I would have...but I hope it is something my son will enjoy reading when he is older, and he will know how much he was loved before we even met him!
Could've been better.......2007-02-17
It's a nice little journal with pretty pictures. It might be better though, if it were spiral bound, so it's easier to write on the pages. I would also suggest more blank pages for random thoughts.
A little disappointed.......2007-02-07
Buy this if you want to write out full page essays - not jot down little experiences.

Get this book! Good for all ages!.......2006-09-29
I'm a pediatrician and have used this journal with my patients successfully for over 2 years now. Kids and whole families are healthier because of this great tool. Our most successful story is a teen (senior in high school) who has lost about 110 pounds. She is on her third volume, having completed every single page in two full books (the books have 365 pages for daily entry.
Get this for your kids AND for yourself!
Fight the obesity epidemic where it starts.......2004-03-26
As Amby Burfoot notes in his introduction, we're hearing about the increasingly obese American on a daily basis now, particularly how the problem is starting with our children. Carol Goodrow's solution starts with our children as well, and it is neither overly ambitious nor particularly challenging. It is simply this: teach your kids to eat in a healthy way *every day*, to exercise *every day*, and do it *with them.* Get them in the habit at a young age, show them that an active and healthy lifestyle is fun and enjoyable, and they'll grow up enjoying it.
That said, this isn't a how-to book. It's more like a workbook, and it doesn't ask for much at any one time. It has weekly pages for your children to write down their exercise, fill in their healthy meals, and be creative. It offers pages full of ideas for fun, active things to do outside (you won't find a computer game anywhere in the book) and encourages parents to fill in the pages with their children. Because it is meant to be consumed a little at a time, it encourages and supports positive habits, rather than just making an argument and sending you out on your own.
If you're looking for a good way to encourage healthy habits in your children and yourself, this is almost certainly the best place to start. And if you buy this book now, you might save them buying dozens of "quick-fix," so-called diet books selling weight-loss "secrets," later in life. In that way, it's downright subversive. Who knew?

Everything Needed Seems to be Included.......2007-08-01
I took a chance in purchasing this book because there weren't any reviews for it. After looking at everything else available and reading the comments I thought this might be the best choice. I'm glad I went with this one. It's small enough to fit in a diaper bag and has an elastic band so it won't open up and damage the pages. It's spiral bound so it's easy to write in and flip through. It covers everything such as well visits, sick visits, places to write questions for the Dr., places to write Dr. advice and suggestions from appointments, illness records, milestones to look for, tooth chart with tooth names, dental visits, immunization records, x-rays taken, blood tests, other types of tests, allergies, accidents, surgeries, and growth charts. It also includes tidbits of information from what to have on hand for your first aid kit to baby-proofing the home. I live overseas and this is great for keeping my own record of my baby's health so no matter where we live I will know and remember this important information. Also because the book is small enough, I can easily take it with us on trips and have this information available should something happen while we're away from home. No matter if you move around or stay with the same doctor for your child's whole life, I think it's good to have your own written record of your child's health. The day after getting this book for myself I ordered another one for my husband's cousin who just had a baby.
