Nothing Down for Women.......2007-07-30
This book teaches you about Real Estate Investing in basic steps. The chapter assignments demonstrate the simplicity of the writer's strategies.
Naysayers abound-- must be powerful stuff!!.......2007-04-03
I was appalled to read the purported review by Publishers Weekly. I truly thought the days when the worn out out down of female power by labeling it/us as "shrill" were over.
But then I realized-- this means it really rang the reviwer's chimes. He -- and I have never heard a woman call another women shrill--would have felt no need to default to imitation and cheap shots if there were not something important going on here.
For anyone who has read the book or spoken to Karen, this accusation needs no rebuttal. For those who dare to believe there can be a better way to get ahead than the "dog eat dog" way-- be aassured there is a better way, it is being done, and you will know in your heart if this is right for you.
and for the record-- reviewers far more expert than PW have had glowing words for this book. And so do I.

Too idealistic. The moon has to be aligned with Jupiter before some of the methods in this book work for an investor!
Demystifies "nothing down" techniques and makes them accessible!.......2007-02-27
Have other books or seminars on "nothing down" real estate investing left you feeling confused or overwhelmed? Here is the antidote! KNB's flair for patient explanation clarifies the vocabulary and processes related to investing in real estate using none of your own money. If you read only one book on real estate this year -- regardless of your gender -- reach for this one! If you don't have time (who does?), do like KNB says and take it in the bathroom with you. The principles described in the book will actually SAVE you time because you'll understand how to quickly discard non-deals, and focus on those that will increase your short- or long-term wealth. Just heeding the advice at the bottom of page 27 can make you bundles of equity/cash (but don't stop there; read the whole thing! Each information-rich page singularly makes purchasing the book worthwhile). I know because I have done it. Having been personally trained by KNB since 2004, I am living proof that these techniques work. Do yourself a favor and read this book to find out how you can make them work for YOU!
Karen Nelson Bell has "cracked the code" of making the complex easy to understand and apply..........2007-02-26
I have read many books and attended numerous seminars on a variety of subjects. There are two main challenges that I've observed with some of these: 1. The information (with facts and figures) is given in very large "chunks", which can be rather intimidating and time consuming, and 2. There seems to be an assumption of a prior base of knowledge, including a whole new vocabulary and vernacular, which many new students simply don't have.
Karen Nelson Bell very eloquently and elegantly addresses these issues. Each 5 minute "helping" of each subject is easily digestible and includes a complete glossary of new terms as well as a "quiz wizard" that makes sure the lesson is fully understood and action steps taken before moving on to the next helping. Karen's personality and humor make creating a potential new source of income uncomplicated and fun.
As a man and a very busy entrepreneur, I've got to say that even though it says "for women", this system is perfect for men on the go. It has given me a new perspective on real estate investing, and has removed any concern about economic climate.
If you've ever wanted to look into the rewards of real estate investing, but had doubts of any sort - you owe it to yourself to buy this wonderful book.

Truly Excellent Book!.......2005-10-01
I was thrilled to finally get some serious and safe " how to" information on investing. I thoroughly read and enjoyed Peter Lynch's book " One Up On Wall Street", which is the true ABC guide to investing, but never felt confident enough to put my money in any sort of investment vehicle. This book helps the reader to diversify and thus reduce risk. Simple explanations and data to back up the authors' claims makes this an excellent guide for the first time investor.
A strong 5 stars!
Great Primer on Investing Basics and Risks Involved.......2004-08-20
Although I'm a veteran investor, I enjoyed reading this well-written updated third edition by two highly qualified authors. Everyone involved in investing in the stock market, mutual funds or separately managed accounts will glean useful information from this book. Composed of 22 chapters and three appendices, this 300-page paperback covers the key basics of investing.
This no-nonsense easy-to-read text explains the importance of determining your risk tolerance before you invest, understanding the difference between asset allocation and diversification so you don't make foolish mistakes, knowing how to determine your retirement income goals and capabilities, and investing for your children's education.
Many investors do not have a clear idea of the riskiness of the stock market. Perhaps after the the Nasdaq Composite Index fell from 5048 in March 2000 to 1100 in October 2002, investors learned the hard way that risk really matters. That is why one of the key discussion points that the authors hammer home is the comparison of investment risk vs. reward. The authors cover the risk-to-reward spectrum with numerical examples, the meaning of the efficient frontier, beta, and the standard deviation. One chapter provides a blueprint of how to build a diversified portfolio in five easy steps.
Additional chapters cover the basics of investing in active and passive mutual funds, their share classes, stocks, bonds, annuities, separate accounts and company stock options. Also provided is a 17-page glossary of investment terms.
If you have never invested in the stock market or have a minimal knowledge of how to play the game, then I highly recommend that your read this book before you place your hard-earned cash in the market so that the odds are in your favor. You need at least a basic knowledge prior to investing, otherwise your may lost a large portion of your capital without realizing what happened to you, and that would be a shame.
Useful info and easy to read........2004-07-16
An easy read yet full of useful info. The authors explained some concepts I'd heard often but never fully understood. I'm excited about applying the concepts to my personal portfolio and my 401k.

A wonderful primer on starting a business with contact information for locating startup funds if necessary........2006-09-03
This is a valuable book (resource) for budding entrepreneurs. It seems to try to cover all the bases for starting a small business, but it can't do them all well in the space available between its covers. The book is only 288 pages long. If you are in the planning stages of starting a small business, then I highly recommend you get a copy of this book. Read it, study it, and outline it. There are helpful checklists to help you grasp the subjects. You will come up with a plethora of keywords and terms that you will want to google to find Web pages giving more detailed (and maybe more current) information.
I am a SCORE counselor (Senior Corps of Retired Executives) who typically does face-to-face counseling sessions three nights a month. It would really be neat if my clients would read this book BEFORE they came to their session with me because they would pretty much be "educated customers" ready to ask educated questions. Our sessions would be so much more beneficial.
My favorite chapters were:
1. Initial business concerns
2. Your business' structure
3. Business start-up details
5. Sources of business assistance (SCORE is mentioned here)
7. Your smart business plan (and a good sample plan is included)
8. Obtaining the financing you need
The book is weak when it comes to how the Internet can be used in corresponding, hiring, and marketing. But this is just one example of how googling keywords and concepts found in the book will make the book more complete. Don't treat the book as authoritative on the law. It isn't. Nor was it ever intended to be. It is light on tax information as it relates to small business.
I was particularly impressed with the material presented in Chapter 2: Choice of Legal Entity. That subject is sorely ignored in most small business books, and it is critically important. It is a subject I regularly must spend a great deal of time discussing at my SCORE sessions. This book does a pretty good job on the topic.
Chapters 4 and 9 through 12 are easy to find fault with. The topic of each could fill a book. But having these topics covered definitely will help a budding entrepreneur know some of the issues they raise.
I would have liked the book more if Chapter 6 (marketing) had been less superficial. When I read it I got the impression that the author was more a public relations expert than a marketing expert. I generally categorize public relations as a subset of marketing. Marketing includes advertising, public relations, and a whole host of other promotion techniques. I did not get this message when I read the book. I also would have liked the book better if the Internet, email, and Web sites had been discussed more. But there are many books on those subjects. Therefore, I can't complain too much about the limited discussion of computers.
When you read this book it may feel a little like it was produced on an assembly line. Maybe it was? There are 50 versions of this book sold; the only state I haven't found a copy for is Montana. Content is king, and this book has it. 5 stars!
Has The Entrepreneurial Spirit.......2004-01-03
How To Start A Business In New York is a valuable book for those budding entrepreneurs. This resource covers all bases when discussing legal, financial, marketing, employment, and many other issues.
The comparisons on sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations are outlined in a very easy to read manner comparing advantages and disadvantages of both. Issues related to non for profits and s corporations are discussed in an easy to read language.
Many good laws are discusssed here to education the budding business osner. The Family Leave Act, The Civils Rights Acts, and Americans With Disablities issues are discussed in a friendly way. Counseling resources are provided as well.
The financial sections are quite intriguing as well. Most notable are the discussions regarding creating a business plan. The sample on the fictious company Evergreen Lawn Care is very helpful as many aspects of how the business plans to succede are discussed.
The only minor drawback is in the employment section. These days when people advertise for a job, a telephone number is not included due to control demand. Email addresses, fax numbers, and in rare cases mailing addresses are mentioned. Furthermore, since this book was published recently, the author should have stressed the importance of developing a website for employment issues as well as marketing and other concerns.
Otherwise, this book is a very useful resource for the many people who are even mildly intrigued at the prospect of starting their own business.

Customer Reviews:
Smart Start Ups- Pure Gold by a man called Silver!.......2007-09-08
If you buy one business book this year make sure it's Smart Start -Ups .
Author David Silver has over thirty years experience backing entrepreneurial companies, and it shows from the getgo.Silver's message is simple ,within 3 years Internet Communities will be seriously big business, names like MySpace,YouTube,Facebook have been sold for millions or are being offered millions of dollars. The success of these embryonic companies has been built on two primeval human instincts ,the need to search and share. In the past it was tribal hunting of game, now its information ,globally in real time. When citizens have the urge to search and share common data/information -Communities are formed-Online.The money will go to those forward thinking entrepreneurs who aggregate, those search and share hungry individuals into Online and more recently Mobile(phone) communities.Despite being a highly respected VC not only in the business but on the lecture circuit,David Silver, many times emphasises that very little venture capital or indeed business experience is essential. The beauty is that like the Weight Watchers business model ,the assets are the subscribers themselves!.Or as Silver puts it, think like this `'My Community will not incur cost of goods sold and my members will generate the data and pay me for the privilege of sharing it with other like minded members''.Pure and simple if you build it they will come in their mobbing digital droves, wagging their ,music, pictures, videos, stories, behind them.So what ? heres what! get enough millions of like minded people together and the bricks and mortar boys (traditional business),will have ready made customer bases. If you are smart enough You will be the one selling You Tube est 2005 selling it to Google for $1.3 billion in 2006.If you take the Initiative NOW,you will be positioned to take full advantage of the coming WEB 2.0 ,i.e the age of communities.
But putting it that simply does not do Smart Start-Ups justice. This book is refreshing in non prejudice detail, and glorious insight.I would recommend this book be referenced over and over ,by those budding `'Communiteers'' as Silver calls them. From raising Capital,to the rules for creating Successful online Communities,to Reputation management it's all here.Traditional business is reeling ,the online/mobile consumers like you and me are calling the shots. There is serious money to be made ,by giving people something simple online/mobile ,that something, a digital space to share a common interest.I cannot rate this book highly enough and recommend it more as a vital handbook-than to be ever left on a shelf.
YouTube / Stickam Killer Combination.......2007-08-22
I bought this book because I am an active participant on YouTube where the concept of an online community is frequently discussed and hotly debated. The author missed the significance of Stickam which in combination with YouTube creates a compelling community of real friends. I see a lot of potential in cross-site communities where people who get to know each other on one web site gather on other web sites that offer additional opportunities for social interaction.
I'm more interested in the sociological aspects of online communities. It seems to me that video is vital in combatting modern social isolation because only video allows you to see and hear people so you really get to know them. YouTube and Stickam are the only web sites I've known that really manage to create a genuine sense of community where real friendships can be formed.
A priceless resource for online and mobile entrepreneurs.......2007-07-11
I can't think of a more enlightening book on the topic of entrepreneurship applied to the world of online and mobile communities (can't quite figure out why or how the editors skipped the mention of the mobile component in the title of the book either).
I picked it up by pure accident at a bookstore one day and now it's become an essential reference as I am working on the development of an online community for people affected by diabetes at tudiabetes.com. Although I am not in complete agreement with some of the strategies presented, overall David Silver provides up and coming entrepreneurs with a chockfull of ideas that will keep you making notes as you go through the chapters.
As a veteran online communiteer, I highly recommend this book for anyone considering venturing into the online (or mobile) world to colonize new spaces as we enter the new era of the internet.

Very helpful with ideas!!!.......2005-10-04
My husband and I are first time parents and we really recommend this book. It is nice to see a week by week review of things that might be happening in your child's life as well as how to interact with them on sights, sounds, etc. It is an easy read -- yet totally informational! I love all the examples they give.
Good and Well-organized.......2003-03-24
Well organized, scientific, and full of useful material. What else do you need?!
How to Play with Your Baby.......2003-03-17
GREAT!! I give it 5 stars!! This book has great information about your child's development in any given week and how to play with her to help her develop. I love this book!! I am only on week 8 but the material has been consistently informative. I have recommended this book to my daughter's daycare and even offered to buy the book for them (I could not find the book locally or they would have had it this morning.). This book is easy to read and is well organized. It is very concise, which makes it very managable when you only have a few minutes to spare. Buy this book, you won't regret it.
Book Description
Growing up with two father figures, a "Rich Dad" and a "Poor Dad," Robert Kiyosaki understood the important of financial planning. In this audio-parenting guide, Kiyosaki and co-author Sharon Lechter have designed a step-by-step program for Moms and Dads to explain to their children the basics of our financial economy-the employees, the self-employed, the business owners, and the investors. By providing their children with financial problem-solving skills, parents can help to ensure a profitable future for their loved ones.
Download Description
RICH DAD'S RICH KID, SMART KID is written for parents who value education, want to give their child a financial and academic head start in life, and are willing to take an active role to make it happen. In the Information Age, a good education is more important than ever. But the current educational system may not be providing all the information your child needs. This book was designed to fill in the gaps, to help you give your child the same inspiring and practical financial knowledge that Robert Kiyosaki's rich dad gave him. RICH KID, SMART KID will show you how to awaken your child's love of learning using the same methods that Robert's smart dad used to help Robert stay in school, even though he had bad grades and often wanted to drop out. And RICH KID, SMART KID will open doors that you never knew existed, enabling you to pass down the skills and understanding your child will use for the rest of his or her life.
Customer Reviews:
A useful resource, worth the price.......2007-08-28
If you've read Robert T Kiyosaki's other books such as Rich Dad Poor Dad, the ideas presented in Rich Kid Smart Kid will probably not be new to you. However, the information is reorganised to focus on applying the Rich Dad concepts to the task of educating your child, which allows this book to remain a useful resource- even if it isn't 100% new.
Most helpful, in my opinion, are the parent-child interactive activities recommended by the book. For example, one suggestion is to take your child to the bank and ask the banker what interest rate they pay on savings as well as what they charge to borrow. Without the need to understand complicated math formulas, your child will quickly see that banks charge more than they pay, which will hopefully prompt questions in the mind of your child. Those questions will inspire your child to get answers that inevitably increase your child's financial intelligence.
One knock I often hear about this book, or any self-help title for that matter, is that the ideas are obvious. Some people wish to argue that because a concept is simple it is not useful. I couldn't disagree more. I try to judge the value of a thing by whether or not I get enough out of it to justify the cost, be it in dollars or time. If you cannot get the purchase price of this book back out of it in value, then you just aren't trying very hard.
While some of the concepts may seem obvious or simple in nature, it is the application of these concepts that produces real results. Some of the most complicated subjects in our world can involve very simple ideas. Think "What goes up, must come down." Simple, yes, but the practical applications involving gravity occupy a great deal of study time among physicists of the world.
My point is simple. This book gives you a variety of ideas and suggestions that will help you improve your child's financial education, but YOU have to be the one to do the work. Is it the world's greatest book and ultimate problem solver in the universe? No. Is it worth the purchase price? Without a doubt, absolutely yes.
Best Book My Daughter Has Read!.......2007-02-01
The title is her words not mine. I bought this book thinking that she might get through the first 3 or 4 chapters before she put it away in favor of her school work. Instead she carries it with her to school and reads it when she finishes her work. One of her teachers asked her about the book and after my daughter finished raving about it the teacher decided to get a copy for her self. That teacher now uses the book and it's principles in her classes.
What better testimony about a book than it is now being used in an academic setting?
My daughter has also surprised me by asking financial questions when we are alone. I am now in the middle of a job hunt and she asked me questions about what my salary would be with a new company. She listened intently as I explained negotiations over salary once I was offered a job. I explained the different factors that went into determining what I would ask for as a salary, such as distance to the new job, what others were making doing the same job, and benefits such as medical, dental, and of course vacation time. For an 11 year old she had an amazing grasp of what I was talking about. I believe this understanding came from reading this book. My son on the other hand, who is 24, is still working in a dead-end job making minimum wage. I gave him "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" and the cover has never been broken.
Buy this book for your kids; it is well worth the "investment" to teach kids how money works. Do it now while they are young.
where is the information?.......2006-11-04
This isn't really a 260 page book, it's a 5 page pamphlet that repeats itself over and over.
Really there is nothing new here if you've read Rich Dad Poor Dad, beyond a shameless marketing co-promote for his games, other books and a few of his friends.
Overall I thought Rich Dad Poor Dad was a pretty good book. This book however made me realize that Mr. Kiyosaki really has discovered the secret to becoming rich - write one half way decent book and then milk it as long as you can with other related books and products.
Great audio book!.......2006-03-21
Great audio book. Gives you information to help you teach your kid about money, and ways to keep you from over indulging your kids.
Rich Dad's Rich Kid by Kiyosaki.......2005-06-10
The author suggests that parents empower children to take control
of their finances early in life. The author challenges us to turn
education about money into wealth and cash flow. Children are
encouraged to seek professional careers and to begin small
businesses to ensure cash flow well into retirement. The author's
Kolbe Index seeks to train people to analyze facts, formulate
follow-up scenarios, start projects quickly/efficiently and implement rational solutions devoid of analysis paralysis problems.
This work is well worth the money for the information content
provided.

wonderful advice.......2004-03-21
This book provides straightforward advice for more than just singles. David Coleman knows what he's talking about. I've had the opportunity of seeing him live and it's an enlightening and entertaining presentation, the feel of which he successfully captures in this book. If you're divorced, if you're tired of roller coaster relationships or even if you are a part of a happy couple, you will find something in this book to strengthen your relationship.
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!.......2002-04-30
I JUST RECEIVED THIS BOOK "DATE SMART!" IN THE MAIL THIS WEEKEND AFTER HEARING SO MUCH ABOUT IT ON A LOCAL RADIO STATION. I CAN'T PUT IT DOWN!!!! ALMOST EVERYTHING IN THAT BOOK I CAN RELATE TO. I WAS LOOKING FOR A GOOD RELATIONSHIP BOOK AND THIS ONE RANKS EXCELLENT!!!!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Relationship Questions: Answered.......2002-01-10
In a style that's fast and fun to read, this book answered so many of the relationship questions I've wondered about for years. The subject matter is presented in a way that's positive and reassuring- that I'm not just a freak who's bad at dating! I got this book on a recommendation from a friend figuring it wouldn't help me, yet now I feel like I know how to start looking for a truly positive and meaningful relationship. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to seriously understand relationships, without giving up a light-hearted and fun approach!
Discouraging Read.......2001-10-18
There are books that you just can't put down, and there is this one. I couldn't get very far after the barrage of negativity that this book dishes-out. This book makes change seem an insurmountable obstacle. They also emphasize the notion that your past equals your future -- pure bunk! This book needs a major rewrite!
If the guys want a book that tells them how to have women approach them, get HOW TO SUCCEED WITH WOMEN by Louis and Copeland. These guys helped me to acheive the desired results, they can help you. I'm going out with a woman, half my age, who I would have been scared to approach not long ago. I've also had half a dozen women hit on me, at work, in the past two weeks -- life is good, now!
Excellent read regardless of your relationship status.......2001-04-19
I love this book because it's sharp, very straight to the point, and very resourseful. I particularly loved the self tests and checklists which are designed to not only help one figure out strategies for the next relationship, but also determine what one's needs are by directing you to explore your personality. I highly recommend it.

A wonderful primer on starting a business with contact information for locating startup funds if necessary........2006-10-27
There are 51 versions of this book sold; one for each state and the District of Columbia. Content is king, and this book has it. 5 stars!
