Customer Reviews:
Great exercises , very good for pregnancy and labor.......2007-07-14
I love the exercises in this book. It does help if you have done yoga before but even if not, they are easy to follow. My pelvis feels stronger after doing them. The breathing exercises are good too and I love the kegel visualisations. Sometimes I wish it had photos instead of drawings but the drawings are actually very nice. Spiral binding would really help though, I like to keep my book open next to my yog mat.
Great for teachers.......2006-09-29
This is a great book for teachers. It has wonderful meditations, beautiful flow series and good medical info too. It is a well rounded book and a great addition to my prenatal library.
Covers prenatal yoga and provides lots of general info, too!.......2003-07-18
As a prenatal yoga instructor, I find this book to be very user-friendly, full of photos and illustrations, some original stuff that you won't find in every book on yoga for pregnancy. It contains not only programs suitable for the three trimesters, but also yogic breathing practices, simple ways to incorporate kegels, pelvic floor visualizations, a guided relaxation, very basic info on the chakras, nutritional information, tips for relieving backache and performing daily activities with optimal alignment. The Teasdill book is very pleasing to the eye, enjoyable and easy to read. I just love the "Salute to the earth - growing into gravity" series of poses. This series alone contains some positions useful during labor and delivery as well as in preparation for the big day. There is also a page of positions specifically useful for labor. There are other visualizations and meditation techniques suggested for use leading up to and during the birthing process, general info on the stages of labor and reminders of what may serve you during each stage. There is also a chapter on life after birth which includes yoga postures for recovery as well as general info on breastfeeding, nutrition, what to expect emotionally. This book does include a bit of yoga philosophy. The last lines of the book state, "Yoga is not just a system of stretching and meditation: yoga is awareness, yoga is living in the present, yoga is union, synthesis and integrity. Yoga is life." Preparing for birth requires more than just physical preparation. A lot of birthing is mental, being able to stay present for each contraction and rest between rather than creating more tension and pain in the body in anticipation of what may come, "complaining mind." The mindfulness and awareness of body and mind that come from the meditative aspects of performing the poses or sitting in meditation are valuable beyond the physical preparation. If natural birth interests you, you might want to check out Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Natural Childbirth. Another good book on prenatal yoga is Janet Balaskas' Preparing for Birth with Yoga. Wendy Teasdill's book has a more informal, conversational feel to it than the Balaskas book, if that is of interest. Makes is very easy and fun to read!
Well-organized, useful text ... a must for pregnant practice.......2003-02-27
Even as a yoga instructor, I found myself at a loss when trying to structure pregnancy practices. I picked up this book and found that it is very well put-together. It describes poses well and tells you when it is appropriate to do them, trimester-wise.
The book does allude to some yogic philosophy (NOT religion; yoga is a science, not a religion), but for a serious practitioner of yoga this is actually good -- so many yoga books and videos don't even bother to acknowledge yoga's long-standing history!
Step by Step Yoga for Pregnancy.......2000-06-24
Terrific book. Very easy to follow and logically organized by trimester. Sound advice and good for everyone from the beginner to the very experienced. Gets a bit into the "religion" of yoga, however is still a great resource for the every day pregnant woman looking for a good ~ safe workout. I highly recommend this book!

Customer Reviews:
Excellent for Childbirth Education Classes!.......2007-04-16
I love this deck! I am a certified childbirth educator and this prenatal yoga deck is one of my favorite resources for my classes. Almost every pose has specific pregnancy or labor/birth related benefits. I put together a series of 6-8 poses from the deck that I use as an opening exercise in my classes--people often learn better by actually *doing* something and practicing the yoga poses together allows experiential practice of pelvic floor exercises, pelvic rocks, tailor sitting, optimal fetal positioning exercises, etc. instead of just me talking! Also, I emphasize to my students that birth happens in your BODY--we will spend a lot of time talking and sharing information, but birth doesn't happen in your mind, it happens in your body. People today spend much of their time "living in their heads" and many of us do not feel comfortable with, or at home in, our bodies. So, practicing the poses from this deck in class helps couples out of their heads and into their bodies and begins a process of feeling comfortable with moving and using their bodies in positive ways--I hope this helps develop a trust and confidence that will then contribute to a smooth and peaceful birth process.
The deck also includes several nice, short meditations that serve as a nice closing exercise either for the whole class, or for the exercise portion of class.
I forgot one more nice feature! Each pose has a positive birth affirmation that goes with it--I love these, because I feel like they help plant positive seeds of confidence and trust in the wisdom of women's bodies and of the beauty of birth.
To conclude, I love this deck and I strongly recommend it for other childbirth educators!
Great Tool.......2006-01-22
The prenatal yoga deck is a real find. I had already owned several DVDs when I came across Miller's deck, but decided to purchase it anyway. I am glad I did. At about eight months, I could barely move and the deck enabled me to stretch at my own pace. Now that my baby has moved and I have more space, I still use the deck just about every night so I can continue my practice at my level. I highly recommend this product, and plan to purchase it for my friends who became pregnant in the future.
I did not like the deck option........2005-09-10
Instead of pictures it has poor drawings, it is hard to see exactly in some cases.
I found the books a lot more explicit and more descriptive.
I returned it the same day I got it. Very disappointed with it.
Excellent Yoga Deck for Pregnancy!.......2004-12-18
I loved this Yoga deck. The pictures and directions were easy to follow, and the cards are very well organized. It was easy to customize a routine based on my trimester, and how much free time I had. I can't say enough about the excellent poses. I was able to stay very flexible throughout my pregnancy, and I felt fantastic. Additionally, the meditation phrases helped me to stay positive and truly enjoy the miracle of pregnancy! I highly recommend this Yoga Deck; it had such a positive impact on my pregnancy. A must have.
Deck of cards format is a great idea.......2004-07-15
What drew me to this "book" was the unique deck-of-cards format. It is much easier to use than a full sized book. However, you also get much less information than a book, so I recommend using the Prenatal Yoga deck in conjunction with a good prenatal yoga book, or in addition to one's previous yoga experience. The Prenatal Yoga deck presents the information (poses, breathing, meditations) in a clear, simple way. The poses are quite gentle but effective, and the suggested routines are short, which I found perfect for before-work sessions in the morning. You can of course create longer routines from the 25 or so poses included in the deck. I especially liked the suggested meditative phrase for each pose. The poses all indicate in which trimesters they are safe, and include modifications for later on in the pregnancy.

Book Description
A much-needed antidote to our modern, assembly-line approach to childbirth, this new book is designed as a guide for all who wish to participate in the wondrous process of bringing new life into the world. Its ideas derive from two sources: the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda, with its emphasis on body, mind, and spirit, and the latest Western scientific prenatal research. By integrating the best information from these two very different perspectives, this remarkable book gives readers the tools to ensure that our children are nourished by thoughts, words, and actions from the very moment of conception.
Magical Beginnings, Enchanted Lives is rich in practical information, including strategies to help enliven the body intelligence of unborn babies by nourishing each of their five senses, as well as through Ayurvedically balanced nutrition and eating with awareness. Specific yoga poses and meditation techniques reduce the mother’s stress and improve the infant’s emotional environment, as do tips for conscious communication with a partner. Exercises prepare parents for the experience of childbirth itself, followed by natural approaches to dealing with the first weeks of parenting, from healing herbs to enhancing your milk supply to coping with postpartum depression.
Inspiring, expansive, and remarkably informative, this unique book from acclaimed experts in mind-body medicine will profoundly enhance the experience of pregnancy and birth for both parents and baby.

Customer Reviews:
One of the few childbirth books that actually puts me at ease..........2007-06-03
Deepak Chopra has an outlook on pregnancy and childbirth that assures you of the natural process and joy of bringing a new life into the world. Many books are so medical that they leave out the emotional components of this process. I found this book informative as well as very soothing.
Interesting Morning Sickness Advice.......2006-05-31
Always looking for practical solutions, I found that the Ayurvedic principles to deal with the misery of Morning Sickness were particularly useful. And loved the yoga positions too!
I love this book.......2005-11-25
This book takes you on a journey to the spiritual side of pregnancy and childbirth. For my second pregnancy the last thing I needed was another book telling me what stage of development my fetus was at. This book takes a look at all the deeper emotional things that are going on.
I recommend this book for everyone, especially second time moms that had a bad experience the first time. It's been pretty helpful for me, facing my fears and helping to make my own informed decisions about my pregnancy and the birth of my baby.
Empowering and connecting...........2005-10-13
This book is exactly what I have been looking for.
It has empowered and inspired me in so many ways.
There are wonderful visualizations and exercises throughout the book which have helped me to connect deeply with my unborn baby and body.
Because of this book I have become much more aware of how my daily stresses affect my unborn baby and have used the suggested exercises to create a more peaceful space inside me. Nothing could make me happier.
I recommend this book to every pregnant woman. The information throughout will help you become more integrated in your mind and body and much more in-tune with your unborn baby.
a holisitci guide to pregnancy and child birth magical beginings enchanted lives.......2005-09-13
This book wonderfully supports the couples' journey into parenthood. The book magically brings the pregnancy to life with great visualizations, relaxations, and concrete activities for the pregnant mom and father. The book empowers the mom to have the birth she would like and provides great tools through the process of birth. It brought us closer as a couple and began the bonding process to our child inutero. The book allowed us to experience the true wonderment of pregnancy and birth in strength and love.

Book Description
The publication of this follow-up volume to YOGA: The Path to Holistic Health (more than 50,000 copies sold) will be a landmark event in the yogic community. Officially sanctioned by B.K.S. Iyengar, one of the most venerated leaders in the yoga world.
With its superb provenance, encyclopedic coverage, meticulous allopathic medical vetting, and more than 400 illustration-packed pages, Iyengar Yoga for Motherhood will become the must-have guide for every yoga instructor, mother-to-be, and new mom who wants to continue her practice. Lavishly produced, and with a fresh contemporary look that’s easy to follow, it’s broken up into trimesters with thorough explanations of what you can do and when, shown in 350 detailed photographs. Most important, however, it focuses on safety, carefully guiding students of every level through each asana, explaining which poses never to do and how to make others less stressful. Each spread features extensive instructions and hints, notes on the position’s positive effects and contraindications, and advice on “checking yourself” for proper form and technique—a hallmark of the Iyengar style of yoga. Add to this a huge section on nutrition (with recipes), along with invaluable information on female physiology, and the result is a manual that no “yoga mother” should pass up!

Baby Time is a new kind of baby book for today's busy parent. Fast, fun, and forgiving, it will help you create a meaningful keepsake without the fuss of a traditional album. Rather than blank pages to fill, you'll find boxes to check and items to circle, plus cute stickers to mark noteworthy happenings. Write when you can and jot when you can't -- and still create a special memory album for you and your child.
Customer Reviews:
Even better than I expected!.......2007-07-23
I appreciated all of the reviews below. I purchased this book and found it to be EXACTLY what I wanted.
Pros
-Compact
-Free format pages
-Simple to use. A few words completes the page to explain the event.
-I've found that I've written a couple of wordy stories I didn't expect to write and this book even had the for that space!
-I LOVE the color design and colors.
Cons
-I simply find it odd that all the baby name and birth info is in the back.
-A couple of the pages in the back could be better formatted, in my opinion. Examples - sleeping should include associated feedings and songs should include space to describe how the baby participated in the song.
I plan to order the same book for my next child. (It would be nice if another cover design or color scheme of the cover was available to more easily differentiate the books for the kids.)
Great shower gift!.......2007-07-22
Now pregnant with my second, I realize that time constraints of recording all of those precious and funny moments in babyhood. With my first, I resorted to scribbling on scraps of paper and filing them away in a photo box. Then I found this book, and gave it to a friend (although I secretly wanted to keep it for myself!)...I have since bought over 5 copies for shower gifts (and have ordered one for baby #2!). This book always gets attention at showers too!
Easy!.......2006-03-09
I love this book because it's quick and easy for me to fill in. I have been filling it in monthly for my 20 month old son and am ordering another copy for my new baby....due now!
A STRESS-FREE way to record all of the IMPORTANT details!!.......2005-10-13
BRILLIANT! Many other baby books left me with the thought, "How in the world will I ever find time to fill in all of these blanks?!?!" This book is perfect! You just write in it when you have time or when something important or funny happens. It takes VERY LITTLE TIME to fill out an entire page, and each page lends itself to recording many notes so you won't forget things later. It is a guilt-free, stress-free, FUN way to record a ton of memories and I know my son, now 10 months, will appreciate all of the details.
What I like:
- Flexibility: You can record a page for any month from 1-24 months. Including quarter, half and three quarters of months.
- Plenty of pages.
- The places on each page for likes and dislikes (which change constantly).
- There is a place for height and weight on each page (which I don't always fill in, but it's nice that it's there).
In the back of the book:
- You can draw in and put the date of teeth as they come in. Too cute!!
- There is a place for recording baby's reaction to first foods and songs.
- There are pages to record the big important hospital info as well as "names we thought of for you" and "what we called you before you were born"
- There is a place to date when baby startstalking, clapping, walking, etc. and a place to record and date first words.
- I could fill this any for two kids at once, because it's so quick.
- It's fun to read and to have family read. It's fun to see how the baby has changed.
- The artwork is cool.
- It's thin and hardback, so it's easy to travel with.
- It skips the things I didn't want to have to fill out in the other books and focuses on your baby's development.
Bummers:
- It only goes to 24 months.
- I wish there were more space for foods.
- Sometimes I can't fit everything on one page...when this happens, I just use 2 for the same age. :)
I also use this to make notes of trips that we have taken or the first time our son was babysat. I plan to supplement this with a simple photo album or a scrapbook if I have time some other year.
You won't regret this buy!
Totally fell in love with this baby book !!.......2005-04-01
I LOVE this baby book. Colourful and easy to fill in, especially for busy working mom will not feel guilty again. There's envelope to put the baby's hair. Some very cute stickers for baby's mood and many more. Worth every penny. Enjoy this great book.

So helpful.......2000-06-03
I wish I would have discovered this book with my previous two pregnancies. I found the information helpful regarding childbirth and pain management. I got great relief from back pain (I had physical therapy that didn't work the first two pregnancies) and relaxation through the yoga practice. I would recommend this book to any pregnant woman. It has made my pregnancy much more enjoyable.
Recommended!.......2000-01-28
From about the 5th month of my pregnancy until I delivered my son I did yoga, using this book, 4-5 times a week. I loved it! I was able to relieve virtually all the aches and pains that crop up during pregnancy with one posture or another. And beginners can use this book - I had never done yoga before my pregnancy and this was easy to follow. I recommend following the author's suggestion to first read the book, then read the instructions for each posture you want to do into a tape recorder and then play the tape back as you do the exercise. The exercises strengthen you for delivery and also give you some quiet time to stay in touch with (and appreciate) all that's going on with your body.

What every new mom needs to read!.......2006-11-11
A friend recommended this book as we both started our second pregnancies. I'm so glad she did!! This book is great for first time moms and moms who have already had their first babies - excellent perspectives on what we go through after birth and gentle, reassuring advice on how to cope. A must read!
A Book for Body, Mind and Spirit.......2003-03-17
Aviva Jill Romm's book is destined to have widespread appeal for its compassionate and wise advice. I am grateful to Aviva for having so much vital information in one volume. The topics are Herbs, Nutrition, Yoga, and Practical Wisdom and sagely begins with Chapter One -- The Birth of a Mother. Her chapter on Replenishing Yourself -- Body, Mind and Spirit is particularly wonderful and the photos of the mother and newborns are full of soul. Both Robin Lim's (After The Baby's Birth) and Aviva's books make the best baby shower / Blessing Way gifts! For too many years postpartum has been neglected in terms of self-help guidebooks and within a moon of one another in 2002 came two excellent contributions to what I hope to see is the growing body of knowledge for new mothers. This is a book I will give my children and grandchildren!
