Book Description
More than 65 delightful games and activities to jump-start your baby's amazing brainpower
Can simply singing a song or blowing a dandelion under a toddler's nose help her mind to blossom? Can your baby count, remember events, and solve problems even before he can talk? The exciting answer to both questions is yes!
Breakthrough research is revealing the extraordinary inborn abilities of infants.
It is also showing how experiences during the first years of life profoundly
influence intelligence, creativity, language development-and even later
reading and math skills.
Now two psychologists and child development experts-authors of the bestselling Baby Signs-have created a delightful guide for parents based on the most up-to-date knowledge of how babies discover the world. You'll learn how to:
_ Create a homemade mobile to stimulate your three-month-old's delight in solving problems
_ Play a patty-cake game to help your two-year-old
make logical connections
_ Initiate bedtime conversations that build your child's memory and sense of personal history
_ Develop "Baby Signs" to help your toddler communicate before he or she can talk
_ Stimulate your child's natural number skills with puppets and counting games
_ Use nursery rhymes and special read-aloud techniques to foster reading readiness
_ Nurture budding creativity with humor and fantasy play
_ And much more!
Baby Minds is not another program for creating "super babies." Instead it
builds on activities that babies instinctively love to develop their unique abilities and make your daily interactions full of the joy of discovery-for both of you.

Fabulous book - every parent should have!.......2007-08-01
I read this book and then bought a copy so I could keep it as a reference. Full of fascinating information about baby development that every parent should know -- I was surprised to learn just how advanced babies' minds are as soon as they are born, how they are much more aware of the world around them than previously thought. This book has many ideas of how to capitalize on your baby's brain development as s/he grows. Simple and fun games to play and ways to interact with your child. I love this book and have used many of the ideas already with my 8-month-old daughter.
Focusing Mr. Live Wire.......2007-05-13
Our first and only grandchild has the typical inquisitive mind of a toddler. This book helps us to offer additional play that will encourage the mind. It is the small things that have influenced him the most.
Great info on baby's brains!.......2007-03-28
Sort of a review of "Early Childhood Development" courses. With reference to Skinner and Vygotsky's work. Very interesting and a fast, easy read.
Interesting but wordy.......2006-11-04
This is an interesting book and it goes into detail about little minds, but some of it may be too technical for parents who just want to learn the games and not why or how they stimulate. Some parents might not have time to read all the background info and would like to just get down to the fun part, which is a little bit difficult with this book. Still, if you have the time to devote to this book, it really is interesting and enlightening and may encourage you to try to develop even more games to stimulate your child's growing mind which is certainly a good thing!

The Secret Language of Relationships adopts the format of its bestselling predecessor, The Secret Language of Birthdays, and the compendious collection of combinations that follows proves the book's assertion that "A relationship is a rather mysterious and amazing third entity, one that can come to lead an existence independent of the will or desire of its two partners.... in certain cases a relationship can prove far stronger than either individual, leading us to believe that a certain kind of synergy is at work."
Well-organized, packed with fascinating "personality" information, and replete with snapshots (on every page) of famous couples--whether colleagues, spouses, or lovers--The Secret Language of Relationships is also simple to use. A glance at the two-page chart at the beginning of the book determines your birthday "period." Next, find the period of the person who interests you--friend, parent, child, lover, or mate. The ensuing relationship dynamics are named colorfully and aptly: "Peas in a Pod," "Uncommon Intimacy," "Flexible Structures," "Few Dull Moments," and "Few Antipathies."
Describing 1,176 possibilities, The Secret Language of Relationships sheds light on the classic questions--the hows and whys of chemistry in relationships. Is there a prime ingredient for love at first sight, a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers of it all? An entertaining exploration of the very thing we cannot do without--each other--this wonderful volume explains why we feel the way we do about the people in our lives, and how--if necessary--to make it better.
Book Description
The Secret Language of Relationships shows how astrology can craft a relationship profile between any two individuals born during any two weeks of the year. The result is an indispensable guide to getting the most out of every relationship.

Relationships Book.......2007-09-21
Been eyeing this book for a LONG time and I finally got it. No regrets. Brilliant info and creepy that it's sooo right on.
Relationships.......2007-08-30
The book is very informative. Very detailed and easy to follow. It is well laid out and easy to read.
Unique, Fascinating, and Useful.......2007-07-21
I've been "religiously" using this book as a reference ever since I stumbled upon it almost two years ago. Family, co-workers, women who I find attractive, friends, even enemies (if you think you have none, you may be kidding yourself LOL). I've looked them all up. Results? Spooky! Astonishing! Amazing!
I'm not sure why certain people complain. Sure the book is general. A more specific study would be too heavy to hold, and would take more time than the octogenarian author has left! Nothing new? Ha! You want something new? Read Bartholomew and the Oobleck by Dr. Seuss! Then there's the comment that the included relationship studies are negative. That's not true. Each relationship study contains a vignette or two as well examples of both positive and negative features and potentials. Perhaps the nay-sayers tend to focus upon the negative. On the other hand... negative relationships tend to be the easiest to understand and write about. Those that are positive, and sublime tend to be unique; and they may be succinctly descried only by inspired poetry, if at all. It's similar to the way that it's easy to smear paint around into an interestingly repulsive Oobleck-like image, but much more difficult to create a beautiful masterpiece.
I did notice that while some of the relationship studies are totally spot-on and amazingly so, others seem rather bland or dry, which I attribute to the fact that they don't touch on things that appeal to me or that I understand. If I was a more perfectly-rounded human being, I suspect that I would empathize with those as well.
This is a great book that you may use to create beautiful relationships by using the knowledge it brings you. Pick up a copy today! (Buy a used copy, here at Amazon, if you're a tightwad like me!) Greets to Ms. Julie, who I hope will find this book as useful as I have.
One of the Best Astrology Books on the Market.......2007-06-14
I've studied astrology for over 15 years, and this book is definitely one of the best. Sun-sign astrology is the first step to understanding astrology, and this book is a must-have for anyone interested in exploring it more in-depth. Highly recommended.
Hit or miss..........2007-04-04
Ehhh... I'm just not real impressed with this one. First of all - splitting the larger sun sign categories into subgroups is kinda nice, but also kinda vague. It's essentially a re-working of the standard sun sign stereotypes, and if you're interested in astrology at all, you know them already. Don't get me wrong - it's not *bad.* There's no wrong information, it's passably accurate (for astrology.) I can see how it would be very helpful for those on cusps, and even for the rest of us, it's occasionally got some new info (this book, for instance, is the first one to accurately point out some quieter aspects of my personality that go against the Aries norm.) It's just not enough to get excited over, and most people will get the same level of accuracy or better by just going whole hog and getting a star chart done.
Secondly, and more irritatingly, the actual relationship pairings were astonishingly scattershot. I think it would have been easier to deal with if they'd ALL just been laughably wrong, but no - after slogging through, say, 4 or 5 descriptions that could have been describing total strangers (because they certainly weren't describing me and my people), I'd hit upon something like "Confidential Projects," which was just a spot-on explanation of the vibe between me & my brother. What do you do with a book like that? (Also? As has been noted by other reviewers, the book really is amazingly negative about almost every relationship pairing. If I were to take it seriously, I'd be huddled in the corner now, wide-eyed, whimpering "nobody loves me and I have no real friends!" Sheesh.)
It leads me to one of two conclusions: 1) it really is scattershot - they're just throwing it at a wall and seeing what sticks; or, 2) they're actually on to something, but haven't worked out all the kinks yet. Which wouldn't be too bad, except that it's being published as a finished product, you know?
Final recommendation: pass. If you're reading for entertainment, there are more entertaining astrology books out there; if you're a serious student, there are more thorough and accurate books. If you've got money to burn and don't mind weeding through the stuff that's superfluous and the stuff that's just inaccurate to find the few true additions to this field that this book makes, it might make a decent addition to round out a library. Just please don't be fooled into thinking this is the be-all and end-all of relationship astrology!
Book Description
Thousands of years ago, philosophers and scientists in ancient India devised a system called Ayurveda, or “the science of life,” which explains the nature of everything in the universe. Perfect for those looking to end the squabbling with their mate, resolve a conflict with their boss, or get the man or woman of their dreams to commit, What’s Your Dosha, Baby? will help readers find true happiness and achieve great success in life, love, and relationships.

Surprise! Ayurveyda and Relationships.......2004-10-06
When I first picked up this book, I expected to learn something about Ayurveyda, my "dosha", and considerations regarding my health, diet and well-being. This book was very informative in this regard and presents the information in a way that westerners can understand. I was pleasantly surprised to read further that Ayurveda has something to say about relationships. By understanding the nature of each dosha, I can apply the understanding to all of my relationships. This book is an enjoyable read and I learned something new.
Amazing work - supersedes all expectations!.......2004-10-06
When I got this book I had just hoped to get informed about the various ways to improve life by learning new principles of mind & body. However, after reading it, I'm amazed by the wealth of information I got. Deepak Chopra has rightly said on the front page of the book that Coffey brings the timeless wisdom of Ayurveda to a contemprary audience and shows us how to discover more about ourselves and our relationships. I totally agree with his words and word like to congratulate Lisa Marie Coffey for coming up with such a profoundly amazing book!
A truely wonderful find!.......2004-10-05
While reseaching information on Ayurveda & Dosha's, I came across Lisa Marie's whatisyourdosha.com, which turned out to be very interesting. With an easy quiz, you can find which Dosha fits your personality and get a basic understanding of what it is all means.
Her new book, "What's you Dosha, Baby?" is a wonderful guide to understanding how you fit within this Dosha and how it works within your lifestyle. Most highly valued is the information on compatability with anyone in your life. Other suggestions cover best forms of exercise for you mind/body type as well as foods best suited. It is a wonderful way to introduce oneself to this ancient pratice/belief way of living.

This is the long-awaited tenth-anniversary edition of Dr. Chamberlain's 1988 classic, Babies Remember Birth. In paperback format and enriched with a new last chapter, this book has the potential to revolutionize the way we look at babies, both before and after birth. Part I is filled with "user-friendly" information about the mind and abilities of newborns, as well as a thorough look at their development before birth. Parts II and III present evidence that babies do remember birth and are very much aware of the people around them at that time. Dr. Chamberlain writes compellingly about the newborn's sensitivity, awareness, and vulnerability. He emphasizes the importance and power of the infant-and-parent connection during pregnancy and after birth. When the information in this book becomes common knowledge, we will look at our children with new respect and understanding.

in the indian ancient epic "mahabharatha", there comes an incident that "abhimanyu" son of arjuna learnt while from his mother's womb, when his mother is hearing a conversation between lord krishna and five pandavas. krishna is teaching how to break the trap of "badmavyug", a type of trap set in the war to catch and kill the brave warriors who cannot be defeated by any other means. abhimanyu learns from his mothers womb how to get inside the trap, but unfortunately, her mother gets up and goes away, while krishna explaining how to come out of the trap. abhimanyu learnt the art of getting in but never knows how to come out. this resulted in his fate, later in the war, that he was trapped, caught and killed by the enemies. i thought these types of 'learning from the womb' are myths. but after reading this book, it makes some sense that there are immense truth in these old epics.
Interesting but limited.......2001-06-25
Despite many facts updating Thomas Verny's The Secret Life of the Unborn Child, an expectant parent finishes this book saying,"So what?" All the data does really not provide a useful direction for its evidence that the fetus is capable of learning. However, I found that my two children vastly benefitted from the prenatal enrichment system described by Dr. Sarah Brewer in her recent book, Super Baby, with its compelling documentation for the product called BabyPlus (see www.babyplus.com), which as a nurse I would urge that parents-to-be consider.
I wish I could send this book to every parent-to-be.......1998-11-09
The arrival of this book is great news! There are many amazing stories of labor and birth, from the baby's point of view. As Dr. Chamberlain writes, "Birth memories indicate that babies have an identity of their own; their parents don't give it to them. They act mindfully and build experience around a central core of self." The new last chapter is worth the price of the book all by itself. Dr. Chamberlain writes compellingly about the newborn's sensitivity, awareness, and vulnerability. He emphasizes the importance and power of the infant-and-parent connection during pregnancy and after birth. When the information in this book becomes common knowledge, we will look at our children with new respect and understanding.

What a wonderful approach to parenting! I got this book right after my second child was born it has helped tremendously with my understanding of her personality, preferences and attitudes. The description of her Gemini nature is right on (as it is for my older Scorpio daughter too!) and the insights Chrissie has provided have been invaluable. My husband was a little sceptical at first but now even he uses it as a reference guide!! Thank you Chrissie for the gift of helping us be better, more appropriate parents to our very unique children!!

A simplified explanation of your baby's attributes based on astrological concepts. an easy to read and understand format that gives you extra insight into your baby's behavior, and also lets you remember more about your childhood. It might be fun to actually talk to your parents about your infancy after you have read this wonderful book. When I read my Scorpio/Aries/Sag attributes, it verified what my parents and grandparents had said about my infancy, and it verifies some of my behaviors as an adult !! As an amateur astrologist, I appreciate how this book takes the multi-facited work of astrology and simplies it for the busy parent, aunt or uncle, teacher, or anyone who wants to know more about babies' behaviors. Children are everyone's future !

This delightful book is truly a guidebook for parents. In it, Ms. Blaze has distilled a great deal of knowledge into a usable form. I wish I had it when my children were small. It fits them perfectly! I'll be giving it to my friends who are expecting babies.
Sentimental journey into my son's childhood.......2003-06-28
I bought this book for my niece who just had her fourth child. Before sending it, I thought I would take a bit of a look-through. Although my son is 33 years old, I looked up his sign and took a little sentimental journey of his childhood. She captured many of his personality traits. Most of her suggestions are the ways that I handled him and he turned out to be an excellent person!
Customer Reviews:
We love this book!.......2007-05-02
My 2-year-old loves this book! I love the birth scene, and especially the breastfeeding. It's hard to find good books that feature nursing, and my son was able to recognize another baby having "milkies." It's his favorite.
Great topic, easy to undertand for kids.......2007-01-19
My kids, ages 3, 5, and 8 were fascinated and wanted to read and re-read the book. My favorite is still Holes in the Nose, because of its artwork and humor, but this one is quite good too. It's age appropriate for young kids and allows adults to explore the world of bellybuttons with their kids.
This Book is Great!.......2004-08-30
I got this book from the library when my son was two and I was expecting. He loved it! It gave him just enough information to satisfy him and the pictures were great too. I nursed my son and was planning to nurse the new baby too. The breastfeeding pictures helped him to know what to expect from the new baby. As he could still remember nursing, this book helped him to not be jealous of the new baby's need to nurse. I wonder if those who are offended by this book nursed their babies?
Story and illustrations leave much to be desired.......2002-03-07
This book's illustrations and story focus on the bellybutton's function, but insinuate that a child's fascination with it is wrong. The book contains graphic illustrations of naked adults, and not in a child-friendly manner. I was unwilling to read this book to my toddler after having reveiwed it myself.
A Wonderful Book!.......2001-02-04
My two year old daughter *loves* this book - she'd have me read it 20 times a day if I were willing. This is a great book for explaining pregnancy and birth to a small child. I also love the fact that it portrays the mom giving birth in what appears to be an upright [squating perhaps] position - very nice. [You see mom's breasts, but nothing indiscreet or too graphic.] It also shows mom nursing the new baby, which is very nice as well. This is the best book on "where babies come from" for young children that I've found. Our whole family really enjoys it! [even after about 957 readings....] :)

I especially enjoyed the CD with this product!.......2007-01-06
The CD that comes with this book was very relaxing. A woman speaks in a calm voice and has you close your eyes and basically focus on your breathing and practice visualization. It really calmed me down during anxious times (and I'm an anxious person)! The book is alright...a little eccentric and new age but what do you expect w/ a meditation product. I will listen to the cd with my next pregnancy...
Great book!.......2006-12-19
Of my stacks and stacks of pregnancy books, this is my favorite. Each weekly chapter gives you a few paragraphs that really help you think about what is going on in your body and help you to connect with the baby. The CD is also great - a simple guided meditation.
What a Special Book & Cd. I Adored Every Moment.......2005-11-02
Such a beautiful way to begin my relationship with my baby. I listened to the CD every day. I am so happy to have had this way of understanding the new life that was within me.. What a celebration of Life. Dr Leclaire's mission is "Bringing Peace To The World One Baby At A Time. " I'm so glad I joined the prenatal Peace Movement.
