Sounds Great.......2007-10-02
Sounds great....We loved it at first. Then my daughter decided (whom is 17 months) that she was to busy to look at flashcards. Soooo all my hard work is on the shelf for now.
Try Sidney Ledson's Teach Your Child to Read instead.......2007-08-08
I have been a remedial reading tutor for 13 years and have seen the damage that sight word teaching such as this does--it produces poor spellers and readers who do not enjoy reading and who do not read as fluently as those taught with phonics.
Try instead Sidney Ledson's Teach Your Child to Read in Just Ten Minutes a Day Teach Your Child to Read in Just Ten Minutes a Day or any of Leapfrog's fridge phonics products--start with LeapFrog Fridge Phonics® Magnetic Set then LeapFrog Word Whammer Fridge Phonics® Set, also try Starfall for free.
You can read about how the brain learns, dyslexia, and why sight words are harmful at The Phonics Page, and more information about phonics and dyslexia at Don Potter's Education Page and some free phonetic programs such as Blend Phonics that produce lasting reading achievement.
Life-Changing!.......2007-04-27
If you want to give your child the best gift money can buy, then start by reading this book. It is still amazing, still revolutionary. The concepts, although still debated by many, are among the most unique and original child instructional methods ever devised. It really is possible to teach a baby to read! I have taught children in preschools and kindergarten, using a variety of methods, but I keep coming back to this book. I have also read How to Teach Your Baby Math, How to Teach Your Baby Encyclopedic Knowledge, and How to Teach Your Baby to be Physically Superb. I have also read the profiles of the many children who graduated from the author's school( The Institutes). The part in this book, that grabbed my attention, was when Dr. Doman stated that "you can teach a child anything if you present it in an honest, factual way". I knew that children were capable of amazing things, but the results I achieved, and the parents talked about in this book, are nothing short of astounding! My favorite thing to teach, though, is encyclopedic knowledge. It is so much fun to hear a child call out 2-3 hundred breeds of dog, or species of bird by sight, and beg you to teach more. The most incredible thing that happened to me was when I was showing paintings of the greats,Leonardo, Picasso, etc., and after a few months, I brought out some new paintings by these artists, that the kids hadn't seen. Without giving any hints or supplying any info. about the paintings, I asked them who they thought painted the unknown masterpieces. They correctly called each artist by his painting! They had developed a sense of each artists' style. The ages of the children ranged from three to four years old. I highly recommend this life-changing book. By teaching your baby to read, you increase his joy of learning, his intelligence, and create a healthy bond between you and him for life.
This is THE book to read.......2007-04-06
Doman's books are a must read, and you should start with this one.
After you read it, read the How to Teach Math (much easier to do the program because you can purchase an inexpensive kit from the author's institute). If you are into it, read Encyclopedic knowledge.
I also recommend you to take the author's courses, in Philadelphia, but they are a couple of thousand dollars or more. Do it all before your baby is born.
I read this book 10 years before my wife got pregnant and it changed my life... and my daughter's (I hope). It changed how I saw child's development. Now she is 3.
But don't get too carried away. Believe me, some parents do get carried away. The ones in Philadelphia seem to belong to a sect. Just enjoy your children and add this program to the fun.
Although I spend a large amount of money with the course, I really don't do much of the program. Still, I raise my daughter differently from what I would otherwise have done without having read this book. You will not be the same person after you read it. And it is not about teaching your baby to read. It is about teaching your baby about life.
You will have more respect for your child and will not let your baby grow "by accident." Instead, you will be able to actively participate in the learning process and challenge your child to fulfill his or her intellectual potential. If you have a child, or if you don't but you love someone, this is the only book that you must read. Remember, read it before the baby is born. This book (or the others in the collection) are a wonderful present for an expecting mother.
A joy for any parent, grandparent, or mentor !!!!!!.......2007-01-09
I am a volunteer at an alternative school serving home based (home school) students. I have seen excellent results from parents applying the suggestions in this book to a 3, 4, and 5 year old and look forward to observing a parent use the suggestions with a newborn during the next four months.
I am developing a course titled "Creating Intelligence" and I plan to use some of the information in this book in the course.
From page 1 to 102 a definitive analysis shows why babies want to, should, and can learn to read and the problems children face if they can not read well when they get to school.
The key information on how to teach your baby is presented, step by step, from pages 102 to 157. The next chapter, pages 158 to 196 is divided into sections outlining specifically how to implement the program for different aged "babies". Thus it is fairly easy to implement the program regardless of the age of your "baby"(birth to six).
The approach in this book simply works, and works well. The company offers word cards and "bits of intelligence" cards, both worth the price. Babies and adults learn a lot from the "intelligence" cards. The "intelligence" cards are expensive, full color, and simply fantastic - but not required!
From the book, and from my own experience, it is clear that anyone not offering their "baby" the opportunity to read using this system (it is easier on the child than other programs) is certainly depriving the child, themselves and grandparents of a joyous experience.
A word of warning. The book suggests you use empty 6" high cards to put words on. However, if you have purchased any word cards from the company you will find they use 4" cards. The 4" cards are a lot easier to use than the 6" empty cards they sell. Buy your own 4" card stock cards, so they will fit with the 4" cards you purchased from the company. If you do not buy any cards from the company use 4" cards anyhow, they are easier to work with than 6" cards.
The company sells a video to go with the book. It is a good video that will help the reader understand the teaching concepts in the book. The video is not required to do a good job.
In the last three months I have purchased two of these books for others and recommend it to any person committed to spending the time needed to create intelligence.

Absolutely amazing, my son reads the words in two languages.......2007-07-14
I got Doman's book when I attended a seminar on early childhood education in Jakarta, Indonesia. At that time, my son was 5 months old, and I was still wondering how the book would affect our life.
I taught my son when he was 6 months old, and kept teaching the words without any doubt. The most important is never ask your children any questions, let's say we would like to test him with the words.
Fyi, all the words were in Indonesian. Then we moved to U.S. 2 years ago, we began to learn all English words.
I bought Brand New Readers Blue Set (Brand New Readers), and I made flash cards for each word. I taught the words first, then I read the book for him. One month after, he could read 20 books by himself. He is 4 now, and he reads everything. He also likes Google Earth, to learn about Geography.
Thank you Doman. You have made our life so easy. It's so easy to teach him anything he wants to know because he can read.
Please don't do this to your children.......2007-02-07
I was taught to read this way. It was very detrimental to my later emotional, social and even intellectual development. You are not giving your children an edge up by teaching them to read too early. I feel very strongly that this is a very bad idea.
Let them be children. Read to them, and if they pick it up early without flashcards, great, but if you just read to them enough they will become good readers when it's time. Please. Don't do this to your kids.
Doman's Reading book and Math book turned my baby son to be a .......2006-05-12
I was so lucky to read this book and 4 other books by the same author when my baby son was 9-mon, I spent 5 nights to read Doman's 5 books, and started to teach my son with Doman's method immediately. I started with 25 words and add 5 new words every day, 1 second per word, 3 times a day. To my surprise, my son absorbed every thing so quickly and after 3 weeks, he started pointing to the right objects so often when I showed him the word! However, two months later, he lost the interest of reading cards completely. I had to stop the reading program for a while, and put words stickers on every object possible in the house plus using picture cards and posters.
When my son turned 18 months old, he can accurately name and read every part of the world map puzzle, he can read all other body and organ parts words and flower/tree parts words and other 1,000 words cards. When he is 21 months old, he can read dozens of children books. When my son was 25 months old, I am starting teaching him the elementary curriculum for 10 to 20 minutes every day.
I attended Dr. Doman's "How to multiply your baby's intelligence" baby brain development course in his "The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential" in Philadelphia in order to meet those experts and little geniuses in person. The Institute is for both well babies and brain injured babies, which was founded by Doman 50 years ago. It is a non-profit organization. [...]
We saw all those 4-6 year-old kids and other 8-12 year-olds in their Institutes could read more than 3 languages, read many big thick books, do Math, science and encyclopedia, gymnastics, swim, play violin in almost professional high level!!! They were taught by their parents who most of them did not have any foreign languages and musical background and etc. Everybody in the class was astonished, thrilled and speechless; many were cried in the very formal graduation ceremony.
My son is just an ordinary child, if you think he is a GENIUS, then every baby is a GENIUS including your baby, as stated in Doman's theory, because every baby is able to read and do math if you prepare such an environment and opportunity for him to learn. And babies love to learn, it is fun and it is their surviving skill...
You do not need a college degree to be able to send your child to college or even Harvard, the love with all your heart to your child makes the real difference when you decide not taking the chance of winning a baby Einstein lottery that might be related to your family Genius Gene. Every hard effort you put to your baby, God knows, and your child knows.
Do not waste your baby's precious first 6 genius years! I highly recommend this book!
It might be too overwhelmed to spend weeks to cut and write hundreds of words cards and math cards, you can buy a set of "Teach your baby to read within one year kit" for $9.99 on eBay. You can type the keyword "Teach Your Baby to Read within 1 Year Kit / Montessori" on eBay to search for the kit and the relevant subjects' material.
Not as impressive as the review.......2005-09-29
I've read through this book although not the whole page and find it over-rated.
The REAL contents are really little and there's no useful info until Chapter 7. All it does is just tell you WHY it's important to start baby to read early(like i don't know that) and it is POSSIBLE(maybe back in 64", people didn't think it was possible..but hey, this is 2005, there's no point putting half of the book on justification now to convince modern parents). I think this have to be one of the most over-hyped books for decades!
It's not the whole book is crap. It DOES have it contents, but which is not too special and probably any child expert can give you a hint or too...and sometimes, common sense.
All in all, i'm not impressed. Definitely NOT a must buy.
Doman Success.......2005-08-19
I was born in 1964 and when the Doman system first came out, my parents went to work with it. I vividly recall the pleasure of sitting with my father, when he came home from work, reading the cards with the big red letters! By the age of two, he and I would split up the newspaper every evening and I would read the front section, while he went to the stock reports!
We got the morning newspaper delivered at home, so in the mornings, my father would drive me to daycare while I read him the front page of the paper in the car.
Upon entering kindergarten, my reading and math skills were already at or beyond 3rd Grade level. In 1st Grade, I entered our school spelling bee and finally was beaten by a girl in 7th Grade.
I have loved to read all my life, did well at school and at university and now, with teenage kids of my own (both of whom are avid readers!) I am pursuing a career as a writer.
Personally, Glenn Doman has been a hugely positive influence on two generations of our family already.
With regards to the application for brain-injured children, I have friends whose son was cerebrally palsied at birth. At an early age, they introduced him to the Glenn Doman system, and were highly successful. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 20, but only after having spent a lifetime reading avidly. The internet was his favorite stomping ground and his quality of life would have been greatly diminished had he not been able to read.
Would I personally recommend the Glenn Doman system? The answer can only be a resounding YES!

Teach Your Baby Life.......2007-04-06
Doman's books are a must read. I already suggested that one should start with How to Teach Your Baby to Read, because it has the philosophical underpinnings of their theory, but that book is a little time consuming to implement because you have to write words in a cardboard (see cover).
How to Teach Math should be the second, but it is much easier to implement the program because you can purchase an inexpensive kit from the author's institute (see cover).
I also recommend you to take the author's courses, in Philadelphia, but they are a couple of thousand dollars or more. Do it all before your baby is born.
I read How to Multiply your Baby's Intelligence 10 years before my wife got pregnant and it changed my life... and my daughter's (I hope). It changed how I saw child's development. Now she is 3.

Great Idea.......2007-03-18
I bought this along with Teach Your Baby to Read and I can't say whether or not it's working yet, but if nothing else you spend some time with your children. So much of the book is reprinted from Teach Your Baby to Read, and I haven't had much luck finding the cards they suggest to use. But the books are valuable in that they advocate a respect for the learning potential of young children and offer specific instructions on how to develop that potential.
HOW TO TEACH YOUR BABY MATH.......2006-11-18
I hated math after 6th grade and didn't want my 16 month old son to 'catch' my frustration. I taught my son math so easily. His favorite subject is math!
A book that brings hope .......2006-11-10
This book is not a magic formula to create Einsteins but t is encouraging for those kids who my have problems in the future. Buy if you want to assure a good development for your son. Do not buy if you expect to turn your baby in a genius mathemathician.
Baby Math.......2006-11-04
Another great title by Glenn Doman that helps parents to focus on their children. Helps parents think of their children in new ways and changes what is possible because it changes our assumptions about our children. Reading and using the techniques in the Doman books gives
children a head start on learning to love learning.

overhyped book.......2007-09-27
I was somewhat disappointed with this book. It has one simple tip, keep your child on the stomach as much as possible. Ok, so thats great, the child will grow faster physically, maybe grow faster mentally also, as per what he says.
But I expected the book to be much more comprehensive. There are not that many exercises. Its largely a single point agenda on keeping the child on stomach. I can tell you that in one line.
Excellent Book.......2007-09-04
I do not get enough time to follow all the methods, but I still did few things as per book. My son stands by himself at eactly 7 months. He started climbing stairs at 7 month. I put him on the floor more often. This book is surely helpful.
Only thing is it's difficult to make things like dowel between doors, track. They should sell those items too as part of the kit.
want a sports star in the family?.......2007-07-02
if you want your child(hopefully the child will want it too)to be the next huge baseball, football, soccer or olympic star, then this is the book for you.
it is packed with information on how to 'grow' your childs physical development so that by age 2.5 to 3(and maybe sooner)he or she will have the physical developmental skills of an average 6yr old achieved in half the time it takes a 6 year old to do this.
it takes time and patience, not to mention equipment, but i feel that it is worth it.
also, this is the book to help your child avoid the problems of childhood obesity that is a huge problem in europe and america now.
team this book with 'teach your baby to swim' and also 'how smart is your baby?'also by the domans and youll most likely see your kids name in lights one day.
your child will thank you for it someday.
Extremely dangerous advice for newborns!.......2007-04-19
I feel compelled to write a stern warning about this book. I was excited to order it to help out my twin daughters - born 2 months premature. My jaw hit the floor when I read the very dangerous misinformation in the first couple of chapters. The author begins with a criticism of hospitals' handling of newborns. He states that nurseries should be made more like the womb to comfort babies, kept moist and at 90 degrees. He then states that the only reason that babies are put on their backs is so that nurses can tell if they are still breathing, and recommends that babies sleep on their stomachs.
This is all good advice if you want your baby to be at significant risk of death from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome(SIDS). First, the only safe position for babies to sleep on is their back. The author seems to believe that SIDS is only caused babies smothering themselves with blankets - this is not (although smothering is always a risk. Current reccomendations are to keep healthy babies' environments on the cool side (68 deg F.). One of the major causes of SIDS is apnea due to immaturity in the brain stem. Current sleep reccomenadtions are designed to alleviate this.
Not even incubators are kept at 90 degrees. When babies are born, they go through physical changes - such as separation from the placenta. They have the largest dose of hormones running through their bodies that they will ever have in their lifetime. Very quickly, healthy babies are able to regulate their own temperature - they are mammals and not snakes after all.
Infants in intensive care units are sometimes put to sleep on their stomachs - but they are connected to heart and respiration monitors that alarm when they stop breathing or their heart-rate drops.
I am completley shocked that someone billed as a child development expert has absolutely no knowledge of the risk of SIDS. Granted, back-sleeping is not the best thing for physical development, which is where there are exercise programs to compensate for this. Tummy time is important while baby is awake and supervised.
Please do not follow the newborn advice in this book. I can't get past this, and maybe there's good advice in the rest of the book.
Excelent Book.......2007-04-06
This book will give you a greater insight into the physical development of your child and what to do to fulfill its potential, instead of letting your child grow "by accident."

A must have for new parents.......2007-01-04
We started using this programme with our two year old, but it would be much better put into practise with a newborn. It is much slower going at this age, though the lessons and ideas are still working. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who is expecting or who has a new baby. The programme is simple, easy, and fun. Before your baby can walk or talk, he will be swimming. You can't ask for better than that.
Customer Reviews:
Terribly Disappointed!.......2005-01-17
After I read all of the great reviews on this book I thought this would be the perfect thing to help me teach my 2-year old daughter some early math skills so I rushed to buy it. I read the book completely before trying it out and a lot of what is written in the book made sense to me. I agree with the authors on all the points that they make about how babies have the capacity to learn math skills at such a young age. I went out and bought all the supplies I needed and spent the better part of a week making cutting the cards and sticking on the dots. I was eager to try and teach my 2-year old. I followed the instructions, showing my toddler the cards and announcing the number on each with an enthusiastic voice and lots of praise. For a while she was eager for the "game". However, by the end of the second week she started saying "No" when I asked if she was ready to play. The games kept getting pushed farther and farther apart by her unwillingness. The book says not to push if the child doesn't want to play, so I never did. But, the book also says to be consistent and play the "game" 3 times a day (or at least once a day). But my toddler wanted nothing to do with the math teaching at all. No amount of enthusiasm and playfullness on my part helped. One time, after she said "No" I brought out the cards anyway and she started crying. In my estimation, she was just plain sick and tired of looking at red dots every day! She was bored with it.
The book says that if this happens you should increase the speed at which you add new cards, but this didn't work at all. Also, there is no way to know whether or not your child is actually learning anything (the author's say NEVER to test a child during the first phase where they learn the numbers 1-100).
The last thing that was really horrible is all the work I spent making the cards. The authors say in the book that they now offer a pre-made card kit for sale, but then they do not tell you where you can buy it!
I had really hoped this would be a great book for me and my daughter, but it's useless and I wasted a lot of time and money on the materials... very disappointing. Maybe if instead of red dots, I used different shaped stickers or even just mixed up the colors of the dots a bit it would have helped keep her from becoming bored.
Wow - Glenn Doman is Amazing.......2004-02-08
I studied Glenn Doman's Education Philosophy when I was dealing with Brain Injured Children. His methods worked amazingly well with them. I just had my first child and I am excited to get started with Reading, Math and Encyclopedic Knowledge. Both my Husband and I are teachers and see the value of our child knowing as much as she can when entering the school system.
Here is a Hint for making your own Math Cards - Use a Red Bingo Dabber! It is about $2 and will do as many red dots in 3/4" as you need. Get the highest quality you can as it will be the most solid. I tried them all out in the store before buying one. Boy, it was so easy and CHEAP to create the cards.
The babies are eager to learn!.......2003-02-15
Initially I was skeptical about teaching my 18-month daughter math. But after reading the book, I found out that that Glenn Doman and Janet Doman have discovered the completely different method of teaching a baby math, not the same that is using in junior schools. Their method suits for a baby from zero moths old, i.e. from birth. The are three lessons a day, each lesson last fifteen seconds and give such a joy to the baby that she woke me up in the mornings asking me to teach her math. When she hears my steps when I return from my job, she runs to me to teach her math. The babies CAN and WANT to learn!
The babies are eager to learn, they want desperately to learn everything they can, as quickly as possible, but the adults are often fail to provide for the babies the adequate opportunity of learning.
Glenn Doman and Janet Doman offer funny and inexpensive way of teaching the baby math, by means of special inventory: cards with red points indicating a real quantity.
A few words from my own experience on producing the inventory: don't even imagine of cutting the cards or the points by yourself. Order the empty cards of the specified size in a nearby company, which prints business cards. Order five thousand 0.75-inch sticky red circles on a roll of ORACAL in a nearby company, which decorates the shop windows. The authors do not emphasize on ORACAL, but the process of putting the circles to the cards should be as easy as possible.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT "EDUCATION" BOOKS , EVER!!.......2002-07-12
Doman's discovery that math can be taught to babies, so that it becomes "second nature" to them, deserves the equivalent of a Nobel Prize. I noticed that it's no accident that one of the key ingredients to helping kids to succeed with this is to MAKE IT FUN (I hope the school teachers are listening).
I believe there is no limit to the capacity of children to learn, as long as they are approached in the right way.
I'm glad Glenn and Janet made the effort to do the research and write this book. It's worth its weight in gold.

One insightful point, too many words.......2002-03-20
The Doman's have an excellent tried-and-tested technique to teach beginner level mathematics to young minds. It rides on the insight that most educational institution today teach mathematics in an encoded form, i.e. using symbols such as 4,21,107 instead of an actual representation of the number itself, e.g. 2 dots, 13 dots ... Good reference for parents who are eager to give their kids a proper headstart in the lifelong learning journey. Some repetition throughout the book which tends to get a bit long-winded at times. To give you an idea ... while the book is some 200 pages long, I finished the book within an hour. I will still recommend parents to buy it for the technique taught.

The best book since War and Peace.......2007-09-07
I taught my daughter to read beginning at age three and continuing through the second grade. By the time she started school, she was reading at the fourth grade level and I attribute it to the "How to teach your baby to read." book
She drank in the knowledge and the methods worked marvelously! For instance, I followed the book and used learning as a reward for her being good(she is perfect anyway)and she would bring the cards and book to me for another lesson.
I bought astronomy, geography, math books and she used her reading ability to progress even farther. The only problem I see with a child's excessive reading ability is that schools are not ready for them. She is not gifted but she is advanced and they couldn't deal with it.
I found that enthusiastic praise, smiles, hugs, etc worked so much better than "That's correct, dear. Now to the next lesson." As Dr. Doman wrote, an excited parent who is happy their child can read transmits that love of learning and enthusiasm to the child and encourages the child. I give this book at least 10 stars if it were possible.
It's never too early to expose your child to reading.......2006-04-26
According to this book, little children (0-5 years old) are more intelligent and capable of learning than previously imagined. After it is understood that they have a huge amount of curiosity about the world around them, the authors strongly recommend enriching a child's environment by teaching them to read.
The Institutes for the Achievement of Human Potential (the group behind this book) was begun to see if it was possible to teach brain-damaged children to read. In this case, "brain-damaged" means children whose brains were normal at conception, but were damaged through injury or disease. After discovering that the answer to their question was a resounding Yes, the same method was tried on well children, with the same result.
For the average child, being able to explore their world, through crawling or walking, is vital to their development, so sticking them in a playpen with a bunch of toys, while understandable, is a bad idea. There is no "wrong" way to teach a child to read; the authors present their method, which involves writing words on flashcards in very large and bold print, and showing them to the child several times a day, for a few seconds at a time. It is never too early to start, even with children less than 1 year old. Do not be concerned if you cannot go "all the way" in teaching your child to read; even partial progress will help your child in the long run. Most importantly, the process should be joyous, and never a chore, for parent and child. If either one is cranky, or having a bad day, save the words for another day.
This is an excellent book. Written for parents, it is very easy to understand, and shows that it is never too early to expose your child to the world of reading. It was also first published in the 1960s, so they must be doing something right. It is very much recommended.
Does it work?.......2006-02-09
29 years ago I bought this book to teach my first-born how to read... I believe she was 1 year. This daughter, Jubilee, was the first person to graduate college in my family, 2 4-year University degrees. Is it a coincidence? I'm here today buying this book for her first-born, now 4 months old.
This is an excellent book. I believe in its premise and have proof of its success. A quality way to spend productive time with your child, without pushing too early. It really is about a visual picture that they absorb and instilling at the same time, an eagerness for reading because it becomes easy for them when they hit school-age.
This book changed my life.......2005-12-22
I was a "Teach Your Baby To Read" kid - and I can unreservedly recommend this book from first-hand experience. My mum taught me to read using Doman's methods in the 70s and it opened up the world to me. I remember it as a thoroughly rewarding, enjoyable and FUN experience. At the time it felt like a game to me - I had no idea it would smooth the road to further learning so completely. Excellent reading, comprehension and communication skills are among the greatest gifts you can give a child, and this book spells out the steps for you. I still have the original, somewhat worn edition that my mum had, but now with a little girl of my own I've bought the updated edition. Three decades after my mum read Doman, I'm looking forward to teaching MY baby to read!
Grounded in Science.......2005-12-06
I found Glenn Doman's book nearly forty years ago when I was looking for ways to teach my mentally retarded class to read simple words that would help them be independent. It worked for them, so I used it to teach my own three children to read. It opened up the world for all of them.

The body and the brain are tightly coupled.......2005-07-24
The main issue of this book is that mental and physical development of a baby are tightly coupled. Physically perfect body gives more blood, oxygen and energy to the brain which reinforces the development of the body, which is most obvious for ages up to 36 months.
The author splits the development of the brain and the body to seven stages depending on age, and gives methods and joyful exercises for a baby to be physically superb.
Who cares what the sceptics think?.......2005-05-13
For those of you out there that believe the object of this book series is to "pressure" your children into becoming college professors you obviously are either not paying attention or never read the book. At NO time does the book suggest tying down your child to a chair and forcing him/her to learn to (read, arithmetic, etc...) In fact it clearly states the opposite to STOP immediately if the child is not having fun.
I believe instead that the main point of the book is to love and bond with your child (what more does a child want than Mommy and Daddy's attention?) And that the world is full of amazing wonderful things that he/she has the potential to do whatever he/she wants to do.
My father (using his own techniques - the daily newspaper) taught me to read at 2 years old and I remember (yes I remember clearly) that it was so much fun to read to Daddy about the upcoming union worker strike.
I don't care what career my child chooses.. I just want him to be happy and have the same appreciation for the world of knowledge that surrounds us.
You need to see it to believe it. How sad!.......2004-08-22
When we were once told man can fly, and go to space. Ignorant and negative humans laughed at the idea. When true love was able to be found on the internet, people laugh and mock the idea too. And so thank heavens not all humans are so negative and narrow minded, otherwise how would we see the human race be where they are today? My son, is now 26 months old, and by following what was suggested in the book, he is sure enough strong enough to support his own weight and brachiate the "monkey bar" on his own. He is also very proficient in running. I invite those with curious minds to come see the growing population of "Doman" families across the globe, quietly and surely participating in the "Gentle Revolution", with or without the help of the Institutes. We are a non profit, pro bono support group. Be very amazed at http://www.childbrain.org
Very Excellent Program!.......2003-11-10
I have read nearly all of the books in the Gentle Revolution Series and all of them are very pleasant and encouraging. These books are really only for those parents who want to make a tremendous effort on behalf of their children and who believe that their children are one of the highest priorities in life. These programs involve much time and enthusiasm on the part of the parent. I am using these programs with my son. At several days old he was holding up his head, 2 1/2 weeks he was rolling over from tummy to back, 5 weeks old he made his first scootching movement, at 2 1/2 months he was rolling from back to tummy, by the end of four months old he was creeping on hands and knees and beginning to pull himself up onto things. This is an amazing program and I plan to use the methods for any children I have in the future. I also did not follow the book 100% so I can only imagine that if I had I may have acheived even better results with my baby.
what do you really want to believe.......2003-03-28
Of all the books I have seen, heard, and read I have to say the only one I like and have picked up numerously for reference is "Caring for your baby and young child" Everything else I thought was silly to even bother with. Because this book gives you advice from everything about what to feed your baby to how to tell if your child might have the flu. If your a parent get this book and never pick up another one. Dont read about how to physically improve your child or make your child have the highest IQ they are children let them be just that. They dont need expectations they dont need to be able to read when they are 3. Yes encourage them to want to explore, read to them, count with them buy a kid yoga tape but whatever you do with your children let them have fun and dont pressure them. We have enough pressure when we are older lets not make the kid prep for college in the womb. Dont "spoil" your children, punish them when it's needed; but have fun and enjoy them dont drive yourself crazy on how to have the best child in the world and be the best parent in the world, just go with the flow and be the least stressed parent in the world. Thats really how you get the best children in the world!
