Very Pleased.......2007-08-27
I Was very pleased with this item and would definately recommend it and the supplier as well as use the supplier again myself if the oppotunity presents itself.
Most Helpful for conceiving.......2007-08-06
I have picked up and read several books trying to get specific information about the fertilization process. Alot of books just have the same generalized, generic information that you would get in an average text book, but didn't clearly clarify whether it was best time to try before you ovulate or right after. This is the only book I found so far that really gave me down to earth and very practical information about the most effective timing for getting pregnant and why. I loved that it was both readable and scientifically detailed in its delivery of information. I wish I'd read this two months ago. Alot of pregnancy books including What To Expect When you Are Expecting and The Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy didn't even touch on the specifics of trying to get pregnant. In fact the first chapter of the Mayo book just spends a lot of time scaring women over 35, like me, of how risky and statistically challenged our pregancies might be. These two books might be fine once you get pregnant, but they weren't helpful for getting pregnant.
This book in my opinion bridges the gap between a general info baby book and an infertility book. In fact the book points out that a lot of couples who think they are infertile just don't know when to start trying and how to properly calculate their fertility window. My friend and I are trying to get pregnant and the same time, and when I read her the section on getting pregnant, she was like....this is fascinating. This book is great for people who want specific scientific information in a down to earth delivery.
The Mother of All Pregnancy Books.......2007-07-12
This is the second time I bought this book and everyone says it is so informative. Thank you. :)
A great tool for conception and fertility.......2007-06-27
In a sometimes frustrating struggle to conceive, this book was my bible and Ann Douglas my guru. I read and re-read the chapters on infertility and conception over and over - drifting to other books but always coming back to the "Mother". She doesn't get caught up in too much technical jargon, doesn't preach or offer judgment, and presents a very large amount of material in a straightforward, easy-to-read fashion. The charts are great, and although there is some scary info in here about miscarriages, ectopic, stilbirths, etc., it's important to include, and presented very well. I haven't found it quite as useful or comprehensive for late pregnancy and preparation for birth, but it's still a valuable part of my (large) stack of pregnancy books.
Good, but not the best.......2007-06-21
The conversational tone of the book was a little distracting, and I didn't care for the way it was organized, but I appreciated the positive attitude it portrayed.
There is some good information, but there are other books with more complete information and better organization. My favorites are "1000 Questions About Your Pregnancy" and "Mayo Clinic Complete Book of Pregnancy & Baby's First Year". They are both extremely thorough, well-organized, and work great for reference. Both of these books tend to put things in perspective, maintain a positive tone and really present you with all the facts. In general, I think the pregnancy books written by doctors are the best.
Book Description
For thousands of years, Chinese women have trusted traditional Chinese medicine to help them conceive. A recent medical study found that women who augmented Western fertility treatments with TCM, traditional Chinese medicine, doubled their chances of a succesful pregnancy. THE INFERTILITY CURE gives women an effective, natural means of supporting their efforts to get pregnant. Based on techniques and remedies drawn from traditional Chinese medicine, this program shows readers how to increase their overall health and well-being, strengthen the organs and systems vital to reproduction, heal specific conditions that may affect fertility, and even support Western-based reproductive technology such as IVF and hormone therapy. Dr. Lewis' easy-to-follow program begins with diagnosis, using an extensive questionnaire to determine each reader's unique diagnostic category. The next three steps involve bringing a woman's body back into balance through diet, acupressure, and Chinese herbs. By following this program, women will be able to create a welcoming physical and emotional environment for what they desire most: a child.

Excellent Resource for Alternative Fertility Treatments.......2007-08-21
I just put my 6 week old son to bed-- the result of following a combination of this books' practices as well as an endocrinologist' testing and -- I believe-- just plain grace from the Lord-- While I am sure you could follow everything to a "T" and not get pregnant, I found her holistic advice to be a great counterpoint to Western medicine's sole focus on getting your eggs, uterine lining, and his sperm to behave-- But I DO think it is important to start any fertility journey by getting tested to be sure that all of your "parts" so to speak are in order. (ie HSG, ultrasound for ovaries and uterine lining, post coital test, etc) What she proposes isn't easy and involves reducing stress, radically changing your diet, and taking gross herbs, but I found all of the treatments would compliment Western medicine. In my personal case, I followed all her advice-- with the guidance of a licensed acupuncturist. (I would NEVER attempt to decide myself about the herbs, acu points, etc. ) from reducing stress to diet change. In addition, once I had naturally achieved pregnancy-- I continued treatment and monitoring from my RE for low progesterone.
Good information.......2007-07-23
I bought this book while I was struggling with infertility. I'm happy to say that I finally have a beautiful baby girl. It's been a while since I read this book, but I attribute it to me living a more natural lifestyle and really thinking about how the chemicals around us could have affected my fertility. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a way to help the process along, naturally.
Didn't cure me, but comprehensive nonetheless.......2007-07-18
I can't say that I was cured after reading or applying the information from this book, however, I still suggest this for people in the midst of struggling. One of the things that I really needed when I first began treatments was to feel that I had a sense of control over what felt completely out of my hands. Reading this book gave me that enpowerment. I worked through the surveys and learned an alternative way of thinking about my body. I was then able to take that information to an acupuncturist and have an intelligent conversation about my condition.
While I know very little about TCM, this book was comprehensive and carefully thoughtout. I did not feel overwhelmed by the material and it provided me with an education on an area of fertility treatment that has worked for many others.
The only downside to this book was that it tried to deal with too many possible diagnosis situations. Many of the chapters did not apply to my situation and therefore not necessary for my reading. I did, however, pass the book onto others, making the entire book worthwhile.
Buy before trying to conceive.......2007-07-16
This book is one of the best that I've read regarding fertility. Since it's marketed as "infertility", I didn't read until I had been trying for a while, but recommend this book as one to read BEFORE you start trying to conceive.
Wonderful book and resource!.......2007-07-16
This is wonderful book for both practitioners and laypeople alike. I initially found this book through a patient and have used it extensively with every fertility patient I've seen since then. Dr. Lewis has information that ranges from dietary changes that anyone can get started with immediately to Traditional Chinese Medicine patterns in infertility and acupuncture protocols that any practitioner who uses acupuncture can use. This is also a great book for patients to bring to their doctors, naturopaths or acupuncturists. Acupuncture and (sometimes) herbs are now being encouraged by many mainstream fertility clinics and this book allows me to have much of the information I need at my fingertips.
If you are trying to become pregnant or if you are a practitioner that uses Traditional Chinese Medicine with your patients, this book is a must.

Better buy another book.......2006-06-03
I got this book and it definetly is like a refference guide, it does not go into depth and just reccomends the obvius, or describes what dif. vitamins are for, I bought at the same time TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR FERTILITY and it did give me a lot of information I did not know about our cycles, and now I am more knowledgable of as the name states: I FEEL IN CHARGE!!! and know what is going on in my body on a daily basis, a GREAT BOOK! GET IT!

Helped Us Get Pregnant! .......2006-01-13
I'm 39- my husbands 43 - and we had all but given up hope on getting pregnant. We were about to start seeing a fertilty expert, when a woman in my office told me about this book. She was my age, followed the plans and conceived within 7 months. I decided to give it a try! I used the nutrition advice, diet advice, and made some of the lifestyle changes, as well as changing some habits that I was surprised to learn could affect my fertility. Just as I was about to give up hope - I FOUND OUT I"M PREGNANT! Yay! It took about 8 months - but we did it on our own, without any fertilty experts. This book is well worth the price - and it's worth giving it a try before you sign off for the expensive IVF or other treatments. I read some of the other reviews before buying and they almost convinced me not to - but my friend was so sure it would help me, ( she had given her copy to her sister-in-law!) I decided to buy it anyway. I'm so glad I did! It wasn't scary - but it was realistic and made me see how important small changes can be! Buy it! It might work for you too! Good LUCK!
Utterly useless! .......2005-12-26
Don't waste your money! It states the obvious. Hey, if you want to get pregnant, don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Nothing else about this book useful...
This book is not for the average couple..........2005-12-26
Aleksandra is obviously involved in the publication of this book somehow. Why this moron feels the defensive need to attack other reviewers is beyond me, and downright pathetic. Why do you have to call other people uneducated? Isn't the average reader allowed to post their opinions? You're a desperate loser and a pathetic excuse for a fellow human.
My wife and I bought this book last year hoping it would give us some basic answers to some very basic questions. I agree that the fertilization of a hamster egg is of little consequence to the average couple. We found our money was better spent on "Taking Control of Your Fertility." It offered us very basic information. We were pregnant the following month. Spend your money there. Don't listen to the agenda-pushing moron below!

This book is very colorful and full of little facts. It highlights the important information and provides a little extra for those bookworms. I found the information to be interesting and well presented. The pictures and graphs helped with my understanding and are great if you need to refer back.

Where to Begin..........2007-08-27
This is the book for you if you want to be pregnant or you think you might want to be pregnant some day. The author does a great job of describing practical advice for getting pregnant in a very easy to read fashion. After reading this book I wish I hadn't wasted time and money reading other hard-to-understand, incomplete books. If you are thinking about pregnancy you owe it to yourself to have this book in your hands.
Very Basic Book.......2007-08-03
My husband and I are starting to think about having kids so I thought this book would be a good place to start with a basic overview. It does do that but it didn't say anything different or insightful that I couldn't find for free online. (i.e. don't drink alcohol, no smoking, chemical hazards)
Most of this book(16 chapters) deals with infertility. This is something that I don't need so most of this book was not useful to me.
I would pass on this book. There are definitely better books out there like, The Mother of All Pregnancy Books: The Ultimate Guide to Conception, Birth, and Everything In Between.
Not exactly what I expected it to be..........2006-02-20
The first half of this book is great for someone interested in learning what to expect before getting pregnant. It's easy to read and extremely informative. I enjoyed that part of it very much. Howevere, once you reach the center of the book the entire rest of the book is about infertility and ways you can get pregnant if either you or your spouse are found to have problems. I'm sure this book would become very helpful if that were to happen, but considering that I haven't even started trying to get pregnant...that part of the book did not interest me at all.
A MUST HAVE BOOK!!.......2004-04-07
Wow! What an extensive, down to earth book EVERYTHING getting pregnant! This author really knows the topic inside and out, and presents it to the reader in a very understandable format. I've only had it for a week, and couldn't put it down. If you are ever considering having a baby, read this first and find out what to do to get your body ready, and to know your body's signals.

Fabulous Book.......2007-01-13
I had been looking for a "to do" list for baby planning online and wasn't having any luck. I wanted something that would tell me "by the time you're 3 months along, have these things done." These being my first children (twins), I wasn't sure what I should be doing or when. This book was exactly what I was looking for. Though it isn't written specifically for multiples, it still works for them. The author is actually a mother of twins herself. My twins are almost a year old and I still use the book to write down questions for the pediatrician and gifts the kids receive. Not only was it great for preparing for the babies, it will be a wonderful memento later, as it has spaces for all of your doctor appointments, the birth information, hospital visitors, pediatrician appointments and more.
Some good info but not much of an organizer.......2007-01-08
While I find some of the checklists and suggestions useful, I found it difficult to use as an organizer. I would have liked pockets to hold receipts and appointment cards, a calendar and so on. I found it difficult to locate the pages where I could write in appointment information and if I squeezed in a new appointment, I had to put it on a later page since there are only 3 appts. per page. In the end, I tossed it aside and just moved back to my daytimer. Overall, I'm sorry I spent any money on it.
List makers dream.......2007-01-04
While preparing for baby can be an uncertain and scary time, this book brings some order and organization to the planning process. Keeping track of medical bills, doctor appointments, weight gain, barrowed goods, furniture dimensions and purchases for the little one has been extremely helpful for my peace and sanity. I carry this book wherever I go. I would highly recommend this book to anyone expecting. I have loaned it to friends who recently had babies and they added thier own notes as well. It was exactly what I was looking for!
Best Book to Get Ready for baby.......2006-12-27
I used this book when I was preparing for the birth of our first baby. It had practical advice and helped me to focus on what was REALLY important to have in place before the baby came. Most first time mom's aren't really sure what all is needed or required to make the transition to motherhood smooth and I found this book invaluable! I recommend it to all first time moms and have given it to just about everyone I know that is having a baby for the first time. Its also a great reference for subsequent children just to make sure you remember what you need to have in place. I can't say enough about this book. Every mom-to-be should have this book.
Get it, you won't regret it!.......2006-10-09
I got this book as a gift very early in my pregnancy. I was a little overwhelmed at first because this lady has remembered everything and it seems like to much to do before the baby got here. I found that I used as a guide and didn't get too picky about the little details. I recomend this for everyone before their first baby. It helps to remind you of all the things you didn't think of. I now give them as baby shower gifts! Get it, you will not regret it!

Wonderful Book.......2007-06-18
If I could only buy one book to help me through my struggles with infertility - it would be this book. Julia's focus is on the mental and spiritual aspects of conceiving. She offers wisdom that comes from her own experience. She is light years ahead of other fertility practioners. I used her book as a guide through my own journey with trying to conceive.
I married 2 months shy of my 40th birthday. We started trying to conceive on our honeymoon. I became pregnant 3 times. All 3 pregnancies ended in miscarriage. I found Julia's first book 'Inconceivable' after my 1st miscarriage. I eventually attended her workshop in Woodstock and purchased her 2nd book -'Fertile Female'. I loved her 1st book, but this book was like medicine for my soul. I really needed a book that dealt with the physical, mental and spiritual aspects of trying to conceive. A few months after reading her 2nd book, (and 8 months after attending her workshop) I conceived my baby. I am 37 weeks pregnant. I turned 44 in May and this will be our 1st child. Her book gave me the tools and the belief that birthing a healthy baby IS POSSIBLE. I love her work and believe that her approach to infertility issues makes so much sense.
A must have book!.......2007-05-01
Words cannot adequately explain how I feel about Julia Indichova's latest book, the Fertile Female. It has become a permanent fixture on my nightstand. I find that it contains wonderful advice not only for those trying to conceive but for anyone who would like to birth an idea, a creation or just a better life for themselves. I became a true Julia Indichova fan after having read her first book, Inconceivable, too many times to count promptly following my "diagnosis" of premature ovarian failure. That first book gave me hope and courage to face the task I had at hand -- improving the quality of my life despite the dire predictions -- which served me immensely upon becoming pregnant a few months later. Now facing life with a toddler, I have found the Fertile Female wonderfully empowering as it contains the general message that one can improve one's life not only despite a difficulty but because of the difficulty. The Fertile Female is an amazing collection of all of Ms. Indichova's "tools" on how we can change ourselves not only by what we do physically to our bodies but also by how we think as well; in other words, the "tools" teach you how to live life in a productive and fulfulling manner. Bottom line, I cannot recommend this book enough!
This book changed my life - I'm Pregnant!!!.......2007-04-25
I can't say enough about Julia Indichova, her workshop, THIS WONDERFUL BOOK, and also her first book: Inconceivable: A Woman's Triumph over Despair and Statistics!! My husband and I tried to conceive for over 2.5 years. After 10 months of trying on our own, we met with fertility experts. After several rounds of fertility treatments (including multiple rounds of INVITRO) we were pretty much told that egg donor was our best option. We even met with an adoption counselor last week. The process took such a toll on us. We were beaten down. Then, something led me to Julia's website: FertileHeart.com There I found her first book (Inconceiveable), which led me to attend one of her workshops and ultimately to read her latest book (The Fertile Female). I am a true believer!! I attended Julia's workshop (where she reviews all of the techniques from her book) in Woodstock, NY on April 1st, 2007. I left there so uplifted and revived. My husband and really felt that we could have a biological child. I was so happy that following week, during my OVULATION, and I KNOW that it made a difference. I stand her today PREGNANT!!!! Following the workshop and reading her book, I practiced Julia's techniques on a daily basis. So did my husband. I literally got pregnant that following week!! It truly works! Julia is brilliant. She has developed an easy to follow plan that revives you and helps you in all aspects of your life. I can't say enough! I want to scream to all of the doctors who saw me as a statistic.... I AM PREGNANT!!!! YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK and follow Julia's techniques! Our dreams have come true. I will continue to use Julia's techniques throughtout my pregnancy and for the rest of my life. Stop reading all of those boring, hard-to-follow technical books and stop listening to all the gloom and doom...THIS IS A MUST READ! I purchased over 20 fertility books by so called experts that were hard to follow. This book was so enjoyable to read (Julia has an awesome sense of humor), easy to follow...and magically...it worked! It can for you too! I also recommend going to fertileheart.com and getting Julia's imagery CD and the best thing would be, after reading this book, attend her workshop! Remember, we are all amazing humans who have the power to make our dreams come true! Listen to your heart, find out what it is you want and believe it will happen. I am living proof! PS - I have purchased over 100 books from Amazon and have NEVER felt compelled to do a review before this! Best Wishes! [...]
Unique and powerful approach to infertility, a must-read.......2007-04-19
In the midst of my own struggle with infertility, I luckily came across Julia Indichova's first book, Inconceivable. Her story of hope touched me like no other and allowed me to discover the author's support circles, workshops and website community which I have found to be an invaluable resource on this difficult journey. I highly recommend her second book, The Fertile Female to anyone, male or female, who is struggling with infertility. This book provides hands-on techniques for practicing what Julia calls her "Fertile Heart" tools. Incorporating these tools into my daily life has transformed me mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. While there are many tools regarding diet, exercise and relaxation, the most valuable and unique tools are the mind-body imagery and body talk tools. Deep within each of us who travel on this confusing, often scary journey through infertility, there exists a powerful and magnificent life force that is yearning to be heard. We can tap into this force more easily by listening to our bodies and connecting with our true self. The Fertile Heart tools exist to help us to this, and I am so grateful to have found them. Inconceivable: A Woman's Triumph over Despair and Statistics
It works!.......2007-04-18
Reading Julia's first book INCONCEIVABLE was a breakthrough. She lives in a higher world and yet she is down to earth and accessible communicating emotions, creativity and fertility. In THE FERTILE FEMALE, she shares her wisdom about taking any challenge and difficulty that shows up in our paths as a gift brought to us to enhance our lives and make this a better world. Besides, she conceives a variety of tools that helped her, and many other women, including me, to overcome "infertility", be it physical, emotional, social or creative. One of my favorite chapters, called "The Authority Invested in You", advocates one's faith and trust in oneself by learning how to listen to your heart, to listen to yourself, instead of listening to all the external voices telling us that we are just a statistic number. Highly inspirational and practical book since it offers exercises and tools to travel with during your journey. Try it. It works.

This book stinks!.......2007-08-21
I did not find this book to be helpful & my IVF nurse laughed and told me to get a refund when I showed it to her.
Good introductory book.......2006-08-13
This is a perfectly good book, but I found Dr. Silber's "How to Get Pregnant" and Dr. Potter's "What to Do When You Can't Get Pregnant" to be much more informative. Dr. Silber's book is especially good if you are science-oriented and want to understand the chemical aspects of both natural and assisted conception (it has excellent graphs and diagrams). Dr. Marr's book may be better used as a "starter" book when you're first diagnosed with infertility, as it is more of an overview than the other two. Check them out at the library before you buy!!
Past Patient enjoys a look back .......2006-03-21
I am a surrogate mother that worked with Dr. Marrs from July of '04 to July of '05. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with him, his staff and his practice. I wanted to take a look back at all of our procedures and get a better understanding of all we went through. I feel privileged to have a copy of his book!
Great Guide to anyone working through infertility.......2002-12-22
After 6 years of trying to start a family we purchased this book. Two years later we managed to conceive, however we lost the baby at 8 weeks. Although we are lost at the moment we will try again.
This book helped us to conceive. It's also helping us with our miscarriage. I have shared this book with others and they have all found it helpful. We have purchased other titles, however non-compare.
It is easy to read and understand. Definitely recommend this to anyone trying to understand their infertility and options.
Excellent for Female Infertility & Ave. for male infertility.......2002-12-11
If you want one book to do it all, get this one.
At least it provides you with a vision of most of the issues surrounding infertility.
It provides excellent information on female infertility issues.
It provides cursory information about male infertility issues.
We have recommended and loaned out this book to several friends, and they all were happy with the details provided.

Before turning to high-tech fertility treatments, the 15 percent of all couples who experience fertility problems might consider reading and trying the many conception tips in Winifred Conkling's highly helpful Getting Pregnant Naturally: Healthy Choices to Boost Your Chances of Conceiving Without Fertility Drugs. Conkling, an experienced medical and natural health writer and mother of two children (one who took a long time to conceive), differentiates between "infertile" and "subfertile" couples, and asserts that more than half of all couples who have failed to conceive in a year or more of trying can go on to get pregnant and have healthy babies. Her book describes how.
Conkling begins with a clear description of the complicated mechanics of conception and the basics of enhancing conception chances. Combining accessible and straightforward information with simple checklists, she then presents dietary suggestions (men should avoid cottonseed oil, a natural antifertility agent), herbal remedies, homeopathy, acupressure (complete with pressure-point maps), and stress-reduction techniques (including enjoying good orgasms, biofeedback, meditation, visualization, massage, and refraining from adopting a child as a means to reduce infertility stress). For each suggestion and remedy, a complete, easy-to-follow description is provided. Getting Pregnant Naturally concludes with lifestyle suggestions such as losing weight gradually (if needed) and avoiding bicycling (for men), as well as quitting smoking and recreational drugs, minimizing air travel, and limiting computer use (there may be a link between computer use and miscarriage). A 27-page appendix listing resources rounds out this highly helpful guide. --Ericka Lutz

Good NFP info when healthy people are trying to conceive.......2001-10-22
This book does a good job of explaining how to use the methods of natural family planning (NFP) with the goal of conceiving. I had taken a NFP course before I was married to learn how to prevent conception, and this book took that knowledge and helped me learn how to apply it to trying to conceive.
I would agree with other comments that it is not for those who are having great difficulty conceiving and are facing infertility issues.
I was not looking for information about herbs or alternative therapies, so I cannot comment on those sections of the book.
This is great for those wanting details about the physiology of conception.
I don't recomend this book.......2001-10-18
This book is OK for someone who doesn't know her menstual cycle, has never monitored BBT or cervical mucus, has never tried ovulation predictor kit... I mean, WHO HAS NOT STARTED TRYING YET. Otherwise, you won't find anything new here.
This book introduce many herbs to boost your fertility.
But NATURAL doesn't mean harmless.
Each herb is explained like "estrogen promoting" "Progesteron promoting" but it doesn't tell you WHEN of your cycle you should take it.
Don't guinea-pig your fertility.
Some good info, some outdated info.......2001-04-03
Let me begin by saying that the first book anyone should read if they are trying to conceive is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Wechsler. This book has some good information and recommendations. I tried to conceive for 2 years. I began taking evening primrose oil daily after reading this book. About 6 months later, I discovered the website tryingtoconceive.com and learned that evening primrose oil should only be taken prior to ovulation because it can cause uterine contractions and interfere with the implantation of an egg. After discontinuing the EPO from ovulation to menstruation, I conceived within 3 months. So, I guess you could say, had I NOT read this book, I may have been pregnant sooner.
Where is the proof?.......2000-03-06
This book is for people who do not have infertility issues. It does not address any real actions for people with proven infertility. It is a waste of time for the infertile reader.
An alternatve guide to acheiving pregnancy without drugs........1999-09-07
This book in combination with Toni Weschler's "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" I gained knowledge of my body and what might jump start my hormonal problems. We have been trying unsucessfully to get pregnant for 1 year, and today I found out we're pregnant. I used an herbal remedy in regulating female hormones and 2 days later my body responded. I was due for a dose of Clomid to do the same thing I achieved on my own. I recommend these books to anyone seeking knowledge about ther bodies, and help achieving pregnancy.
